A gem in the middle of Millsboro, DE! After living here 2 years, I decided to try something new. I will be a frequent flyer as often as I can sneak in for some "me" time. A great add-on as I go to the Post Office, Bank, or other errands. It's going to be my little secret to try everything on the menu. I was guided on this trip by Thierry whose recipes and recommendations were perfection - Vermont Latte, Ratatouille, and a pastry to go. I chose the safe quiche Lorraine to begin this journey. My wife and I went to Kaisy's Delights for brunch on our 41st anniversary. She wanted something different, somewhere we had not been before. Since we were going to be in the Millsboro, DE area, I was not sure I would find anything unique or interesting. I came across Kaisy's Delights on Yelp. The reviews were pretty good, and the most recent one I saw was about three months old. After looking at the menu and reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. When we arrived, the place immediately caught our attention. The building used to be a small bank, and the interior still has the original vault, which makes it really interesting. A young couple with a small child walked in just ahead of us, and the owner invited both of us into the vault. He showed us pictures and shared the story of his family and how the restaurant came to be, along with the inspiration behind the food. My wife ordered the Sweetie Kaiserschmarrn, and I ordered the Skier's Kaiserschmarrn. Kaiserschmarrn is a fluffy, caramelized Austrian shredded pancake, often called Emperor's Mess. It is made from a thick batter with separated eggs, torn into pieces while cooking, and served with powdered sugar and fruit. It has a light, almost soufflé-like texture. My order also came with two sausages. The meal was excellent. The owner was very interactive and enjoyable to talk with. My wife and I both grew up around restaurants, so we tend to notice the details. The place was very clean. The table setting and dining ware were simple and nice. The presentation of the Kaiserschmarrn looked like a mess, which is exactly how it is supposed to look, and it tasted wonderful. We really enjoyed both the food and the conversation. Hearing the owner's story and how he got to where he is today made the experience even better. I would highly recommend giving Kaisy's Delights a try. Stopped here for "brunch" after driving by the other day and it is a really cute place. The ambiance is great with tablecloths and cute table settings. It was not busy at all when we arrived on a Monday mid morning so we were seat immediately and the server was quick to give us a drink. She was very helpful explaining what some of the menu items were so we could make an informed decision. For our meal we had the Our Iconic Grostl and an open faced Latke - the Jambon de Paris, eggs and cheddar. The Grostl was good, tasty sausage and potatoes and the Jambon was a layer of thinly slicked ham. It was very good but the serving size was rather small for the price. Overall it has lots of options and is worth a try. I would have liked to try one of the pastries but maybe next time. read more

Kaisy's isn't what it used to be. There seems to have been a significant change in either ownership, or management. This Millsboro location is stark inside, which is a huge contrast to the "tea room" warmth of the old location. Half the menu includes potato Latkes, and they "ran out" after being open for only 2 hours. Food is OK, but eggs were undercooked (we had to scrape off raw uncooked egg white). Only one person working in front, and he was bouncing around like a crazy person with only 3 tables occupied. We placed our "latke-free" order, and he still had to go back to the kitchen to confirm if what we ordered could even be made. We were then told that most of his staff had quit (which is not surprising, because the guy in charge seemed to be completely incompetent) We used to go to the old location fairly often before it closed, but I doubt I'd return to this new one again - it's a shame, because Kaisy's used to be such a treat. read more

This is our go-to breakfast/lunch spot when we have some time to sit back, relax, and enjoy a wonderfully cooked meal and delightful ambiance. My family and I have enjoyed every meal we've had here -- everything from the kaisserschmarrn to the ratatouille to the sausages. And don't forget the latkes and delicious desserts! The music adds a wonderful ambiance, and I sometimes close my eyes and imagine that I'm back in Europe enjoying a fantastic meal and cappuccino at a cafe. Seriously, give this place a try if you're looking for a unique experience and are tired of the chain restaurants or mediocre meals. The staff (especially the owner) take so much pride in making sure your meal and experience are stellar -- including inviting first-timers into the vault to learn about the family history and recipes on the menu. The food is still incredible. But they need more help with service. The gentleman was overwhelmed; he was annoyed when one of us wanted to change their order and then even forgot part of my meal. We felt bad for him so we didn't say anything. We had to ask for our check twice, then ask to have it picked up after waiting another 30 minutes. What a delightful and delicious dining experience! We just savored every bit of our appetizers, soup, entrees, desserts, and drinks! When we first arrived, we were instantly charmed by the gracious proprietor, Thierri. who warmly welcomed us. He first led us into the bank vault where we learned about his fascinating, family history and his amazing Aunt Ruth that inspired so many offerings in their combination of European (Austrian, French and Polish) inspired dishes. We were pleasantly surprised to realize it was the soft opening of their dinner menu. We so enjoyed the setting in the beautifully restored old Bank building and the wonderful service and hospitality, as well as their exquisite cuisine. Extremely well done authentic European food from many countries. The people here and the history make it a very pleasant surprise. It is in a historic bank building and they have a history exhibit about the food and their family in the vault. Simply and excellently done diversion from mass produced food and I plan to come back many times. I saw a note about validated parking and almost stayed away worried about having to fight for parking on a busy summer afternoon but there is PLENTY of free parking all around including a big lot right across the street. Can't wait to bring friends and family. Note to the owner about the non-alcoholic wines I mentioned. What an incredible find! Don't miss this tiny small-town gem with impeccably white tablecloths, fresh flowers, and a hospitable staff serving food transported straight from the slopes of an Austrian ski town. The coffee menu is extensive (try the spiced maple syrup in your latte) and the namesake dish, Kaiserschmarrn, should not be missed: a sort of hybrid of a pancake and funnel cake, it's crispy outside and fluffy inside, served in delightfully irregular pieces, showered with powdered sugar and served with a dish of tart plum jam and a mountain of sweetened whipped cream. You'd be crazy not to order one. The owner is Austrian and very personable. He took a few minutes to tell the story of his ancestry: he offers dishes from Poland and France as well, in keeping with his heritage. Wanting to try some of everything, we ordered a croque-monsieur and pierogies too; I never even got a bite of my husband's sandwich, since it was gone so fast, but my pierogies were some of the best I've ever had -- crunchy shells holding fluffy cheesy potatoes, paired with sautéed onions and sour cream. They have quite a few dessert / pastry options as well as entrees better suited to a large lunch / dinner, but our coffee / brunch stop was absolutely perfect and we will look for an excuse to visit again! read more

We stopped late Thursday morning for coffee and a late breakfast. There were a dozen other diners enjoying coffee and a bite to eat when we arrived. We were immediately greeted and the owner provided the very interesting of the history that led to Kaisey's Delights! The Vienna cold brew coffee was delicious!, as usual! I had the Croque Monsieur and it was exquisitely prepared and impeccably presented and it was ever so delicious! Our server was prompt and courteous and efficiently ensured that we wanted for nothing, without being bothersome! Now the food, European, all gluten-free, imported sausages, and homemade everything. I had the Weiss Wurst with potatoes, so good! The potatoes are crispy and creamy at the same time, well seasoned. Went to this place with my breakfast group. Place has an unique menu. The restaurant is in an old bank and the decor is very nice. Our server was great as he explained the menu to us. He also explained the restaurant to us as well. As for the food , 2 of us got the ham and swiss omellet along with potatoes, 2 got sausage, eggs and potatoes, and 1 got the smoked salmon open sandwich. Everything came out quicky and was outstanding. The coffee was fresh brewed for us and came out in a pink pourer. I would definately go back as there are things on the menu that I would like to try. We've been wanting to try Kaisey's Delights and today we went to the Millsboro location. The space is very cute and welcoming but when the door opens the freezing air blows in. Sadly, the food was a disappointment. There are so few Austrian/German/Polish restaurants in the area so we are always looking. We ordered the potato pancakes which don't resemble European potato pancakes at all which would have been fine had they tasted good but they didn't. The quiche was overly salted and we didn't eat it. The goulash was truly bad and also over salted. We ordered a large bowl of goulash and it ended up being about an cupnof soup for around $15. Finally, we ordered two jambon sandwiches for a long drive and the bread was very stale. It's too bad. We were really hoping for better but this wasn't even average. It was bad. My husband and I tried Kaisey's Delights recently opened in Millsboro. We started with drinks. Hubby got hot chocolate which was $7.75, .75 extra for whipped cream. I got an iced coffee $5.95 and .80 for a shot of vanilla. Husband got ham, egg and cheese sandwich $11.05 plus extra $1.05 for added onions. I got o cup (very small) of mushroom soup $10.75. The soup was delicious and I wanted more. It came with a thin slice of toasted bread. We decided to try potato latkes. They were 4 thin pancakes, very bland with no onions. Very sweet waitress asked if we wanted applesauce or sour cream. I asked if we could have some of each. Sure she said Out comes a tablespoon of applesauce and sour cream. Did I mention the charge of $1.85 and .65 applesauce and sour cream respectfully. The meal came to $47.85. I was surprised by all the little "extra" charges. I hope this restaurant survives but they need to revise their charges to be more inline with the demographics of Millsboro. read more
