    Blueberry Mojito

Great evening at Zava Cafe during our recent visit to Milton DE. Loved the Blueberry Mojito and my Cod fish special. Also loved the shared apps of fried calamari and fried green tomatoes. All the food was eaten so fast that I didn't get any pictures. The only dish that was a bit of a disappointment was the paella. It didn't have Spanish/yellow rice and had too much liquid. The seafood in it was great, just wouldn't call it a paella. More like a seafood stew with rice.

Great variety on the menu! Fresh ingredients made for a very nice lunch. Friendly service too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Glad we stopped by this quaint gem![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

What's not to like here? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very relaxed vibe, great menu with clearly marked vegan and gluten free options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm so glad I finally stopped in. Not to mention they open at 7am some days for all us early birds. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The fact that it was a Sunday and I was in there with hardly anyone around and parked in one of three spots across from them at 8am was magical.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sometimes you want to be out and about but still have some quiet. The server was attentive and friendly. My order came out exactly as it was ordered. The steak and eggs was delicious. Anytime I see that in a menu I just have to have it! Those potatoes were to die for! I'm still thinking about them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music was great, I love a good reggae playlist.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also really appreciate how mellow the lighting is. Harsh or super bright lighting feels so chaotic. I'm glad this place doesn't feel like the lighting aisle at Home Depot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Oh, also they have great mocktails. The "No"jito is great for those like me who like a more herbal flavor. 10/10

Fantastic place for coffee and breakfast sandwiches if you happen to be passing through Milton, DE on your way to or from Rehoboth Beach. My two teenage sons were hungry and really enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches in the car on our drive home to the Washington DC area. On the plus side, the service was prompt in a clean cafe setting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It looks like a nice spot to catch up on work or to meet a friend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, one downside is that street parking may be difficult to find during peak hours. Also, please note that the breakfast sandwiches are homemade and can take 10 minutes or so to prepare - so if you're in a rush, I would stick with the coffee. Danio Somoza and Thaina Bittencourt opened this cafe in December 2022 with a second location in Rehoboth Beach. Both spots were sold to a new owner (Preston Russell) in February 2024. I imagine this cafe will be a "go-to" brunch destination for years to come.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Charming brunch spot with great ambiance. Felt warm and welcoming as soon as we stepped inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good, but the food was the real star. Had the Fresco Bowl and added chorizo. Perfectly balanced dish and fresh. Best cup of coffee I've had in a very long time, and the Bloody Mary rivaled my husband's, which is saying a lot. Can't wait to return!

An unexpected joy. In downtown Milton you'll find Zava Cafe a just under a year old eatery serving breakfast and dinner. We stumbled upon it and had a sumptuous breakfast of mixed berry and mascarpone French toast and robust cups of coffee. Beautiful ("pretty" said my wife) interior and friendly service. We'll be back for dinner.

Came here for the first time to get breakfast and will definitely be returning. The portions are small but food tastes great and is filling. I recommend the Fresca breakfast bowl as a safe choice for those who are indecisive. The staff was friendly and inviting, welcoming every person in. The ambiance was our favorite part; the lighting was perfect, the decor was unique, and the outdoor seating option compliments the setting well.

It took a few for minutes for our server to come to the table. She was not overly friendly but seemed to be okay. We ordered a Bacon Omelette with potatoes and wheat toast and a BLT breakfast sandwich. Food was out in a reasonable amount of time, brought by someone from the kitchen. The food was good, nothing great but decent. We did have a cinnamon roll and it was absolutely delicious. We never saw our server again, she never checked on us, and I would have liked some more tea and some more jelly. We waited about 2o minutes to get our bill after we were done, our plates neatly put together and sitting on the table and she never came to our table. We went up other her ask for our check and she told us to just pay at the cash register. So, all in all, not a great experience. I saw other waitresses who were attentive to their tables so I think it was just our waitress. I didn't see her around much so maybe she was doing something else, making coffee's or something. I think the fact that she did not want to bring our bill was the worst. With all the good options around I am not sure I will be retuning but it is worth a try to make your opinion.

A Solid Bagel Stop in Lewes…read more I've eaten at Surf Bagel before, so on the way home from a recent business trip I decided to stop again and grab breakfast to go. I ordered a sesame bagel with egg, cheese, and scrapple, along with a hash brown. The bagel was nicely toasted and very fresh, which is really what you hope for when you're stopping at a place that specializes in bagels. The sandwich itself was simple but very satisfying. Nothing over the top or crazy fancy, just a well made breakfast sandwich that hit the spot. The service was friendly and quick, and the place itself has a unique feel to it. Inside they sell quite a bit of Surf Bagel merchandise, which gives it a fun local vibe beyond just being a bagel counter. I included a few photos because the shop has a cool look to it. I stopped in around 9 in the morning and it was still pretty busy, even during the off season. That tells me this place probably gets packed during the summer months. Overall, everything was fresh, the staff was nice, and it's definitely a place I'd stop at again when I'm in the area.

This review covers four different interactions here and a more fair review of each of them…read more Experience 1: We had a relatively good experience eating in here. This quickly became one of our fave dinner spots! They are middle of the road with gluten free options. It was very busy and loud, not something they can do much about. The servers are super busy but always attentive and that plus the food made us want to come back. Plus the decor is kind of fun to look at. They have both indoor and outdoor, it's too cold for outdoor right now but will try closer to Spring. Ordering Out/Experience 2 and 3: The few times I ordered out, my pizza was wrong and the "grilled onions" in my cheesesteak were actually just raw strips of onion. I hate raw onions so it was just gross for me. I would normally say it was a bad day but it happened twice in a row around the same time of day. I'm assuming the cook earlier in the day doesn't know what grilled means or doesn't care. In the evening it's always spot on! Experience 4: We're not needy customers and usually prefer to be left alone while we chat and enjoy our food. I think that's what made this visit beyond frustrating for us. We really liked this place and it was just a very chaotic experience. It just so happened that this experience occurred the day I was catching up on reviews. Our server was a mess. We were patient and kind assuring her that it was okay. They made my husband's order gluten free which we only ordered mine as such. Brought it back correct. No big deal. Then she tried to accuse us of being wrong, now that was annoying. After that, she did not bring our pizza even after we confirmed with her, because she asked, that it was NOT to go. She asked, we said no and stated that we wanted to eat our pizza there. Next thing we know, she boxed it up to go and dropped it off, with the check, after we mentioned we were still waiting to eat it. We left a $12 tip (a dollar less than 20% of our bill) because the waitress got multiple things wrong and blatantly ignored what we asked in a very simple order. Today we see she made the tip $30. We called, it's handled, it has kind of tainted this place for us though..
