This is a drink / atmosphere rating only! They offer food items but we did not get anything to eat during our visit. Upon entering, the staff sings "Welcome to Zava". They are super nice and welcoming. The drink menu at 1st glance looked great but I quickly realized it didn't seem like they were super educated on crafting coffee / matcha / etc type of beverages. I was excited that they had a house-made vanilla syrup however, it was slightly underwhelming. I wish it had more flavor! The beet latte was ok but it didn't seem like it was high quality beet powder (I didn't ask so I don't know this for sure...just going purely off of looks/taste). I did leave he building and then go back in to request some cold foam be added to my iced latte to add some flavor. I had to wait while they prepared the people dining in's order before they would simply add cold foam to my drink. The cold foam was not made properly and they tried to charge me an extra $5 at first until I questioned the additional charge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I did like the inside aesthetic. They have minimal indoor seating but do have a nice window bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were 2-3 employees there but only 1 of them seemed to be doing all the work. Have always enjoyed Sunday brunch at Zava. Decided to try it for dinner and was very disappointed. I was served a really bad piece of rockfish that should have never left the kitchen. If they can't get cooked fish right I would be real careful ordering Sushi at their other restaurant. The bartender was also extremely stressed out as she was the only person working. read more

Great evening at Zava Cafe during our recent visit to Milton DE. Loved the Blueberry Mojito and my Cod fish special. Also loved the shared apps of fried calamari and fried green tomatoes. All the food was eaten so fast that I didn't get any pictures. The only dish that was a bit of a disappointment was the paella. It didn't have Spanish/yellow rice and had too much liquid. The seafood in it was great, just wouldn't call it a paella. More like a seafood stew with rice. read more

What's not to like here? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very relaxed vibe, great menu with clearly marked vegan and gluten free options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm so glad I finally stopped in. Not to mention they open at 7am some days for all us early birds. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The fact that it was a Sunday and I was in there with hardly anyone around and parked in one of three spots across from them at 8am was magical.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sometimes you want to be out and about but still have some quiet. The server was attentive and friendly. My order came out exactly as it was ordered. The steak and eggs was delicious. Anytime I see that in a menu I just have to have it! Those potatoes were to die for! I'm still thinking about them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music was great, I love a good reggae playlist.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also really appreciate how mellow the lighting is. Harsh or super bright lighting feels so chaotic. Fantastic place for coffee and breakfast sandwiches if you happen to be passing through Milton, DE on your way to or from Rehoboth Beach. My two teenage sons were hungry and really enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches in the car on our drive home to the Washington DC area. On the plus side, the service was prompt in a clean cafe setting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It looks like a nice spot to catch up on work or to meet a friend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, one downside is that street parking may be difficult to find during peak hours. Also, please note that the breakfast sandwiches are homemade and can take 10 minutes or so to prepare - so if you're in a rush, I would stick with the coffee. Danio Somoza and Thaina Bittencourt opened this cafe in December 2022 with a second location in Rehoboth Beach. Both spots were sold to a new owner (Preston Russell) in February 2024. I imagine this cafe will be a "go-to" brunch destination for years to come. read more

I had been to this little café about two years ago. It was such a delight. Today, I was disappointed. My French toast was not up to anyone standards. I pointed it out to the young woman who was acting as a hostess and waitress. Even a bit of charring on the toast changes the taste I told her. I would eat it, however, because I did not want to see it thrown away. She did not do anything to make amends other than to ask if I wanted a soda to go. Best thing about this place was our waitress/bartender/ possible manager who was super friendly and gave us just the best service. She knew the menu...was really helpful with allergies at our table...really fantastic. Now...despite this...we ate them and really enjoyed them, so if they'ed just been called fried tomatoes...but alas they weren't. The texture was wrong and the flavor wasn't as tart. But it was a very good dish that we enjoyed. But really...fix that one way or another. Kt would have been REALLY spectacular with the green tomatoes. Two of our party had the Rock Fish special and really loved it...I tasted it and was very happy as well. Another chose the stuffed chicken, which was also very good. I chose the Paella...I was told it was a Dominican recipe and not necesarily a traditional Spanish paella. When not showed up...it was really very wet and even soupy. No crust whatsoever. BUT...this was a Dominican recipe, so I decided that this must be intentional. Good news, the dish was absolutely delicious, and had a really generous portion of Shrimp, clams, mussels, scallops and chorizo. All were cooked beautifully as was the rice. the "soup" was really flavorful and really delicious with just the right amount of kick. Definitely a recommend for this place. read more

We had a great dinner at Salva Café last week. I had the seafood linguine and my husband had the paella. The food was plentiful and the fish in both dishes was really fresh. We stumbled upon it and had a sumptuous breakfast of mixed berry and mascarpone French toast and robust cups of coffee. Beautiful ("pretty" said my wife) interior and friendly service. Came here for the first time to get breakfast and will definitely be returning. The portions are small but food tastes great and is filling. I recommend the Fresca breakfast bowl as a safe choice for those who are indecisive. The staff was friendly and inviting, welcoming every person in. Absolutely terrible service. We sat for 15 minutes, no one acknowledged us. We weren't handed a menu or waters. Both waitresses just walked by us and ignored us completely. We were told to seat ourselves and then completely ignored. Incredibly disappointed. The food looked delicious and drinks looked good but we never had a chance to get a taste. The two waitresses working Sunday morning, 11/9 did not give us the time of day. read more

I should say this was my first visit. I ordered a cold pressed juice, the Denver omelette, and the Berry French Toast. The juice was not fresh. It came from a bottle that this established charges $13. I personally juice and NEVER have paid $13 from ANY vendor for a cold pressed juice. The omelette and potatoes had great flavor. My concern was that nothing on the menu came with turkey meat products. I was charged to substitute the meat, but I was ok with that since it was only $2, however it didn't taste like turkey bacon. The French Toast was the worse part of the meal! As you can see from the photo it was burnt and what you cannot see was that it was very mushy inside. So putting syrup on it, I couldn't it eat. The host didn't ask how the food was once I cut into, however I did NOT send it back. Too afraid of what I might get again. I kindly paid the $50 bill and left the food and restaurant. Went here for the vegan options but sadly my family and I didn't get to experience anything other than being ignored. Stood at the door for 5 minutes not even to be acknowledge. Sat at the bar since seating was as limited only to then be acknowledged by a young waitress with an attitude telling us we couldn't sit there if everyone wasn't 21. But she's the same waitress that looked at us standing at the door and said nothing. We finally got a table only to be ignored while those next to us who came after us were being served by the same young waitress.. I can only guess it was because we were the only people of color. Had a delicious breakfast here! So happy a couple on the beach recommended it. We ate on the porch and had our dog with us. It was our server's first day working and it was evident that she had worked hard to become familiar with the menu and was able to make great recommendations. She was so sweet to our dog!
