Dock fries

A business worth supporting! Ryan and the rest of the staff were so friendly and accommodating, even though we came in about half an hour before closing. They never made us feel rushed or like we were inconveniencing them. Great service! Standouts were the dock fries and the clam chowder. The fries were better than we expected and I would go back even just for that. There are a few stools outside at a counter if you want to eat in. Small parking lot so you don't have to worry about where to park. Great place to have/pick up a quick meal or other market items. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

Picked up takeout here 3 times during our week long stay. Tons of options, fresh seafood, quick friendly service. Highlights were the cheesesteak, shrimp and steak sandwich .

Was looking for something quick, not a traditional sit down. The name of restaurant caught my attention, as we list our Dave back in October after a short battle with cancer. Our last family vacation down here was our last time of "normal" so I thought this would be a fitting tribute to him. We ordered clam strips and crab cakes sandwiches. Clam strips were tender and delicious the best I have ever had. And the crab cakes were filled with crab meat, not filler. We ate right in their porch and enjoyed every bite the young man at the counter was so nice. We can't wait to back next year!

Stopped by on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The place had a nice vibe and everything was well put together. My order came out pretty fast, and it tasted great. Not sure it's a go-to spot for me yet, but I'd definitely come back and try more from the menu.

I'm surprised that there was no reviews about this place. It's definitely a hidden gem in Cape May. It's basically a seafood market, but it sells produce, chips, and other grocery products. They have lunch menu. Not expansive but the star of the menu is definitely the lobster roll. My husband said it was better than the one in the main eatery in Cape May. The brioche was soft and nicely toasted, good amount of lobster. You can also buy just the lobster salad by the pound. Fried calamari is highly recommended. Great breading, so crunchy and the breading didn't fall apart. It's a family business. Everyone there were so friendly and welcoming. They had huge scallops and big uncooked crab cakes with no filler. Also salmon, shrimps, tuna, and other fish. The gentleman explained the best way to cook it. In the freezer on the right you can find frozen king crab and dungenese crabs. They were very accommodating to my request for putting the scallops in a plastic container instead of plastic bag. You can follow their instagram for the food truck schedule. I recommend this place for seafood, also to support local business. It closes on Mondays

Great seafood and service. Lobster roll and jumbo lump crab sandwich are well worth the money! Fresh!

A friend recommended this location because it was on the water and supposedly had great views. Well, she was not wrong! We planned to enjoy dinner there at sunset, and it was absolutely stunning. You can even see a shipwreck in the water from the restaurant. The food was delicious and the outdoor bar overlooking the water was definitely popular! It was packed. I recall having a refreshing, bubbly, berry libation. So tasty and beautifully decorated with fruit and a pearl skewer on top. My only constructive criticism is that this place is very busy and the wait time can be quite long. You may consider sending one person from your party there a bit earlier to wait for a table, because it can be up to an hour wait during peak times. (Not a spot to head to if you are very hungry and need to eat ASAP!) Aside from having to wait about 45 minutes to be seated, this place is a gem. Would definitely come back for the relaxing, beach ambiance.

We searched comprehensively for a special dinner…read moreexperience for our last night in Cape May, and initially we were taken aback because we could not get a reservation before 7pm on a pre-season Tuesday in May. So we went early (no problem being seated around 5:30 or so, but it did seem full an hour later) and were we ever rewarded. Everything was simply perfect, including Vicki, our veteran and down to earth waiter. When we are unsure of things, she provided expert guidance with kindness and wisdom. The mussels appetizer are an experience not to be missed - save the bread for lapping up its saucy juice. My wife loved the pork chop - its huge and she took half home for lunch. I devoured the blackened fish of the day over bok choy. Both simply were outstanding. If/when again in Cape May again, we'd certainly come back. With a reservation!

I'm a sucker for a good thin crust, and this did not disappoint. Everything about the pizza was sublime. Even hours later when I heated up the remaining slices at the hotel, it continued to be a palate-pleaser. Second night, round two: I love a good turkey club but I would've willingly sold my right pinky for one this good. I nearly had to unhinge my jaw to bite into this beast. I again met my match and had to take half of it to-go. Did I have it later that night? No! I popped open that tray for a breakfast club the next morning and the flavour never missed a beat. Make this place a sure stop when you are in town!

Date of Visit: August 2, 2025 8am…read more After a good nights rest, this was a two night stay stop, I went out on a quest to find a breakfast spot. After a stroll to the Washington Street Mall I was on my way back to the motel (The Jetty) and noticed this place was open. It was clean looking from the outside so I decided to give it a try. I was immediately welcomed as I walked in, nice. Looked around to see how the seating arrangements were and notice they had counter seating. Neil like sitting at the counter. A pleasant lady came over and handed me a menu asked what I wanted to drink...orange juice. And the juice came with a glass of water, I needed that and didn't know it. After looking the menu over I chose the western omelette with home fries and rye toast. I must have been one of the first customers of the day cause it wasn't long before I was eating. All I needed was some hot sauce for the home fries and their it was. The portions were generous and toast came out warm just the way I likes it. Cutting into the omelet it was filled, nothing scarce here. I would suggest to get here early, it wasn't long before there was a wait. Not sure if I finished it all but I needed to walk the WS Mall again and work it off. Yes this will be my go to place for breakfast next time in town. Peace.

We had such a nice dinner, I had to update my review. We come to Lobster House from time-to-time…read morethroughout the year. We figured we would get in an off-season dinner before the crowds come and that we did! We arrived just before they opened at 415 and hung out at the bar for a few minutes. Dinner is served at 430pm! The bar is open, so you can get drinks while you wait if you like. There is a full service bar and you can order from a plentiful wine and spirits menu. Our awesome server for our early dinner was Trisha, and she could not have been more hospitable! She was very personable, attentive and provided excellent service! She was just a delight. I ordered the Flounder special which was delicious - - each element in the dinner was great - and you can see all my coordinating photos. The dinner comes with a nice fresh -chilled salad and of course, the yummy hot, fresh onion bread! The flounder was cooked to perfection and those Fried String Beans, kinda like french fries were really good and very creative. They came with a nice "Petal Sauce" that is going to have me coming back again! Thank you, Trisha and Lobster House for a great pre-season dinner. It's nice to have the whole restaurant to yourself without the crowds! Get there before Memorial Day weekend for a nice treat! There's also an incredible fresh fish market attached where you can get anything and everything from a fish market you ever dreamed about. They also have a decadent area with so many drool-worthy desserts that you can take out along with your seafood. All in all, Lobster House is a great local favorite that has consistently great seafood and service.

It gives you a whole new appreciation for it, for how it's been able to not only last and stay pretty much the same across decades, making the nostalgia hit just a bit harder. People who have aversion to crowds probably read that and think I'm insane, and I wouldn't blame you. I can't think of a time when that place isn't a mad house. It's frantic, there are multiple queues all over the place, people are shouting, fish is flying, tables are being sniped. There's always some parent yelling at their kid or in-law to get over to some table 100 yards away they just happened to see open up. You have half a dozen poor grandmas sitting at a table all alone, feeling the pressure. The pressure and eyes of every other family waiting for a table bearing down on them. So yes, for certain people, every visit would be a nightmarish hell. Like think about the introverted pescatarians, they must be completely torn on this place. Even with the prominent signage, it's easy to get disoriented in the market-style layout. One time I waited 15 minutes for a softshell crab sandwich in front of a parking validation kiosk. Just remember there are two sets of bathrooms, one near the entrance and one lesser used one in the back. That is one benefit of sitting farther down the pier and not feeling bad about it. There is no such thing as a bad seat at TLH. Eventually once I did locate my softshell crab sandwich, I enjoyed it's soft, crab-like texture. Well, enjoyed is a strong word. Let's just say that will be my first and definitely last time I ever order softshell crab. I like crab, but, while soft, I do not enjoy the texture of the shell. It's like these thin sheets of leather strips. It's probably my fault, it's not like it's called "no shell" crab, but I think maybe they overdo it with the "soft" angle. Anyways, once I pivoted to a classic burger, all was well again. And I got more of those bangin' thick-cut steak fries. On this particular visit my two companions got an assortment of crab claws, fried calamari, clams casino, and the rest of my softshell crab, so yeah, everyone did pretty well for themselves. Also snagged a prime table right in the thick of things, on the pier in front of The Schooner, which doubles as a sailing vessel and outdoor cocktail lounge. Just another fine summer memory to look back fondly on.

The vibes are quaint with a very small indoor dining room and an outdoor patio that's a bit larger. I'm really glad we requested a table outside, because the patio was so nice on a warm summer evening. What we ate -- started things off with mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad (on special) and kale cesar. All produce is sourced locally from Beach Plum Farm and both dishes were fab. For our main we shared crab cakes and scallops. Both were so fresh and came with a large portion. Every entree comes with brown rice and house cabbage slaw. Reviews will mention that this is pretty plain, but with the fresh seafood and dipping sauces it's really the perfect accompaniment. The scallops came with a delicious sweet ginger sauce and the crab cakes came with a creamy lemony tartar sauce. The decor is fun and kitschy and the inflatable whale in the bathroom tub made me laugh. Don't forget to grab a chocolate bar at the Louisa's chocolate shop which is adjacent to the restaurant. I'll be thinking about this meal for a while.
