I wasn't planning on reviews while on my vacation, but Hubs asked for this one. While there are several places in Cape May to get a Lobster Roll, we chose Cape May Fish Market because it had lots of seating indoors & out. It was quite chilly while we visited Cape May so we really wanted to sit inside. First, the positive: The place is clean and the staff is nice. The Lobster Roll is delicious and the Shrimp Cesar Salad tasted good, but this is also where it goes bad. It is a huge salad and only had 3 shrimp. The cost of the salad is the same as the Lobster Roll. There is no way a salad should cost 26.99 and only have 3 shrimp. A pound of shrimp market value is approximately $25.99 depending on size & location. When it was expressed to our server, she quoted market price increases and that we could order more shrimp at an upcharge. If market price for shrimp is that bad, take it off the menu or offer alternatives like adding chicken that won't result in an upcharge or advise your customers upon ordering that they'd only get 3 shrimp. Hubs probably would have ordered something else. It's Cape May Fish Market so they should be upfront about their seafood. I didn't really care for the fact that we asked about it and were brushed off. While we'll definitely return to Cape May, we may not return here. . read more

We stopped in this restaurant for some seafood while shopping in the Cape May Washington street mall Our server Edwin was amazing. Very attentive with an infectious smile. He took great care of us. We loved all our food. The lobster roll was my favorite. I have some left over for dinner. Can't wait to return to try something else read more

This was actually my second time coming here and I just wasn't wowed by the food, unfortunately. It was all decent just not great and for how good it was I thought it was a bit overpriced. That being said, they had a lot of seafood options and the food came out quickly even though they were busy. read more

Looked at a few eateries on the path along the shop and picked CMFM. Hostess was polite, waitstaff was courteous, bus boys were busy making sure the tables stayed cleaned. We ate Al fresco and what a great weather for it. Inside the restaurant is cute as well and very clean. FYI they are BOYB but have bottles of their alcohol for purchase. Definitely going back to try other items in their menu. read more

Have been here multiple times and had great experiences every time. Good service, and options for seating inside or out. Gets super busy during the summer, but no problems getting a table in the off season. They don't make it super clear, but they do have gluten free buns so the ability to get a lobster roll is lovely. Servers here are pretty knowledgeable about cross contamination, but if that's a concern for you be sure to ask. The outside space is definitely accessible to those using mobility equipment, and while technically there are no stairs to enter inside, the space is pretty tight. read more

Nice place right in the middle of the action on Washington St - stopped in for late afternoon bite. Service was decent and no major delays in receiving drinks, entrees - decided to have my annual Lobster Roll here and it was quite good! everything we had was fresh - decent vibe ..an older building of course. I'd definitely return read more

Went to this seafood spot ready to live my best New England fantasy, bib and all. Naturally, I ordered the lobster roll, expecting a life-changing, ocean-whispering experience. Instead, it was... fine. Like, "I'd eat it again if someone else paid for it" fine. For the price, I'd recommend saving your money or at least asking the lobster for a personality next time. The whole lobster? Much better. Sweet, tender, and actually knew it was supposed to taste like lobster. Just make sure you ask them to prepare it for you--otherwise you'll be out here wrestling claws like you're in the crustacean Olympics. Now... the real plot twist of the night: the clam chowder and the sweet potato absolutely stole the show. I didn't see it coming. These two were giving main character energy while the lobster roll was over there acting like a side quest. The chowder was rich and comforting, and the sweet potato? Soft, sweet, and spiritually uplifting. Honestly, they deserve their own fan club. Overall: Solid seafood, slightly dramatic prices, but the chowder and sweet potato are the real reasons to clock in. read more

The fish market was a pleasant surprise, from the food to their service, it was a great experience. We went there on a Saturday night around 7pm and we were seated right away, they do have indoor and patio seating. We ordered the coconut shrimp and mini crab cakes from the appetizers and the lobster roll and seafood pasta, all the food was very tasty, the mini crab cakes were the highlight. We didn't really get to see the inside since we chose to sit on the patio but it does have a nice ambiance to sit on the patio and watch people passing by! We were just visiting cape May so we did end up taking ordering some food to go for the next day since we could not come back! Food was still tasty the next day. read more

I'll start with a positive. The waitress was sweet and attentive. My daughter and I ordered the fried calamari. This was a total disgrace for $19.00. There was literally a handful and tiny scraps. It looked as if the bottom of the bag was emptied into the fryer. When I brought it up to the manager there was no apology or offer to redo the order. I was just asked if I'd like anything else. Of course I didn't expect that, so I didn't want anything. My daughter's crab cakes were very good. My fish sandwich was quite skimpy. Needless to say we won't return there. read more

This establishment offers a huge menu with many seafood selections. We ordered the fried shrimp and Oyster Rockefeller appetizers. Followed by the chop salad and Scallop roll. Nothing presented a WOW impact but everything was good. Oysters needed some work but the Scallop roll was very good. Rating is closer to 3.5 stars. Very good server. Nice people watching opportunity from the outside seating deck. Tourist prices, no bar. BYOB Average price/value relationship read more

First off I've eaten here many times before. The inside is very casual. Our server was very pleasant and nice . We order the French Onion and Lentil Soups as appetizers. I have been going to this place for years. I think it's time to find a new fish spot. New England clam chowder wasn't as good as it once was but it's really not the food. The service is always awesome. They have some of the nicest servers around. It's the prices $29 for a shrimp roll ya gotta be kidding me. Look at their menu before you go. Definitely cheaper and just as good options in the area. read more

Cape May Fish Market offers a casual seafood experience in a great location. While the broiled platter fell short on flavor and isn't something I'd order again, the fried fish and fries were a win--crispy, well-cooked, and satisfying. Service was friendly and accommodating; they had no issue with us keeping a stroller outside, which was appreciated since it wasn't too crowded. A decent spot overall read more

Got the Surf & Turf ravioli, and it was absolutely terrific! Our server was hilarious and genuinely seemed to love what she does, which made the experience even better. I've had two bad experiences in a row. Last time the service was horrific. With our specials we were each supposed to have a salad and bread with it. Half way into the meal we realize it never came, so we asked the server. She replied "Oh you want them?" Then she almost never came back; no refills and we walked out way after they closed because she took 40 minutes to come back for the check. Tonight we walked in to be seated at 8:08 and are told they closed "10 minutes ago." I check online and say Google shows 9pm, is that wrong? The employee says no it's 9pm but they close early if it's not busy. Meanwhile there are 4 tables I can see with customers. She then suggested Fin because it's the same owner. I won't be going to any restaurant with an owner who advertises a closing time which is not true. read more

Best food in cape may! Have now tried several items on the menu and have never had a bad experience. Worth the wait for a table!

Whole steamed lobster whole lobster. Would have been good if the lobster and butter would have been hot! Literally cool butter and lobster, not even warm! Terrible. Service so slow. They brought the wrong food to me first and I saw other tables get steaming hot whole lobster right after mine was delivered. Update: I asked the table to me on the way out, and they said that theirs wasn't hot but it was warm. Water was kind but service so slow. I would try a different place! read more

Love the food here but if you're going to go, byow (bring your own water). Their water taste like they first used it to wash the dishes.

I was pleasantly surprised by how DELICIOUS this meal was. When the plate first arrived, I was sad that I was being given a bag of chips as the side... I wonder if I could have substituted for actual fries. But, the fish soft taco wrap was truly so delicious. It was so juicy, packed to the brim with a generous portion of grilled shredded fish along with lettuce, onions, tomato, and cheese. The chipotle mayo tied everything together. Also came with a side of corn and black bean salad which was refreshing. The buffalo chicken wings were just average. Not amazing, with a bit of a spicy kick. A bit dry inside. This was the server's first time serving a table of 10, but he was so efficient and our food came so quickly! The vibes were cute inside, very cute. read more

Nothing was delicious, everything was average, with prices way too expensive to match the quality of food. The blackened seafood platter that we got was not fresh - the rice was soggy, the scallops mushy. The oysters Rockefeller was extremely sweet - I have never had sweet oysters Rockefeller. Definitely a place catered to tourists, you can tell in the absolute lack of flavor and freshness. Our waitress was fine. read more

We visited in 2025 and loved this place. We returned in June 2026 and we were deeply disappointed. The dual crab cakes for $50 is overpriced and didn't taste nearly as good as last year. The crab roll is advertised as jumbo lump crab, it is not. It was filled with back fin crab and butter. The entire table was not pleased with their meal. read more

Haven't been here in a while so we swung through after fishing. Place is chill and comfy. Very roomy. Staff was all pleasant. We kept it simple. 2 bowls of chowder and we split a Cheesteak. Took the family out for a nice seafood dinner after a day of dancing in wildwood. Ended up here after an online search option didn't pan out for us. Great attentive and friendly staff sat us immediately in a crowded restaurant. Delicious clam appetizer and chowder were brought out almost immediately. ( I thought the chowder was a bit thick, but my family thought otherwise!) fried seafood sampler including one of their famous crab cakes, which didn't disappoint, crab scampi pasta and broiled flounder sandwich were our choices. Clean plates all around. Very pleased with the experience and will be back next time we're in the area! Don't forget fresh seafood to go in the back read more

Came here for dinner the other night and it didn't disappoint. The menu had a nice amount of things to choose from. I had the lobster roll which came with coleslaw and fries and my husband had the crab cake grilled cheese. The lobster was fresh and wasn't chewy. One of the best lobster rolls I ever had. My husband also enjoyed his meal. The waiter explained their crab cakes are homemade with little fillers. Would definitely love to come back! read more

Food wasn't too bad, good flavor etc. Fish and Chips were very small, more like a tenderloin than a full piece like other places. Kinda stupid it's a BYOB...that's right...bring your own. Missed opportunity there in my opinion. Would I go back, not for those prices and I have to still get my own drinks with smaller fish portions. read more

while I had a wonderful dinner with my family there on Sunday, I returned alone for lunch today. Despite empty tables, I was told there was a 25-30 wait. i suspected that the issue was that I was a table for one.. hostess confirmed this apologetically. Pretty darn good for a tourist trap . Spouse had a lobster roll, and I had the chicken salad ( my spouse makes better) on a tomato salad , tomato was bland and had no flavor, considering it was a Jersey Tomato it was kind of a disappointment, It was Hot but not unbearable so we sat outside. This is on the Washington street mall, and as we had arrived early, we paid a fortune in quarters for a two hour parking spot. Service was fast and efficient, the waitstaff confirmed my shellfish allergy and made certain of no cross contamination. Iced tea was good and refills were free. Seating was plastic lawn chairs type but it was outside so not unexpected. All in all considering location and efficiency a good one. read more
