Excellent seafood and customer service. Reasonable price. 1st time trying them. Will go again

I am giving Ricks 5 stars for customer service great reasonable market priced seafood I have gone to Ricks for years and this 5 star review is given out after years of consistently receiving delicious take out food and this particular night was the night before the 4th and they were slammed and I sent my niece in to pick up 5 pre made uncooked crab cakes which I have done for years so that we can have dinner on our time ... They were slammed and told my niece that it would be 2 hour wait Well she that ked them and said we couldn't wait because we were headed back off island Before she could get back to my car ... I believe the manager owner or chef came out of the back of the busy kitchen toy car parked across the street and said Can you wait 20 minutes and I responded absolutely!!! I don't believe he knows how often we stop in but I believe he remembers me because I order a lot of uncooked crab cakes throughout the year and am a local... regardless, that level of customer service deserves an extra nod I truly appreciated that he took the time to make our weekend complete with a delicious Ricks dinner Big fan of their prepared dinners, fresh seafood and their soups and chowders I am blessed to live in a community where every attempt is made to make a customer happy This time they went above and beyond So thank you to the hard working staff at ricks Forever a fan Forever a customer read more

Update to Previous 1 Star Review: So it looks like Rick's is remaining in the 1 Star Category. This year I tried putting in my order a day before since last year I gave them 2 weeks notice and they were unable to fulfill since they hadn't pulled my order aside until the moment I walked in their doors for pickup. This morning at 9A I walked through their doors to put in an order for tomorrow pickup and was met with rash and abrasive responses through and through. Q: Could I have the order be picked up at 5P? A: I doubt that Q: Could I order Large Crabs? A: No large, you get what's in the window. Q: Could I order 8 Medium? A: I can give you a dozen. My Response: No, I'm only one person. Nobody else eats them. A: Fine, 8 Q: Can I have them steamed w. Old Bay? A: No, my crabs are already accounted for. You'd be taking them cold from the window tomorrow. Whatever is out today. My Response: Ok, never mind then. I'll just leave it at that. No order thanks. (Proceeds to walk out of Rick's). So my question... When is the sweet spot? I gave you guys two weeks notice last year and my order wasn't able to be fulfilled and was only put together with whatever was in the "window" at the time of pickup. I gave you a day before this year and it still isn't able to be fulfilled properly. If this is how you treat your patrons, I truly regret ever giving you my business for the past 15+ years. Went here for years , moved out of state & literally could not wait to come back and visit until I was served the crabs with top shell off but all intestines, lungs & poop still there ! Why bother ordering then cooked and seasoned when you have to come home and wash & gut them yourself . Also the "large" I received are literally small at other local places and yes , that's where I will now get my crabs . Staff could be nicer too. Quick stop on our way out from a basketball tournament. We needed a bite for the road. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp salad for a total of $28. Quick service. Cool staff. We were excited to order from Rick's because of the reviews on Yelp. It was out first night in town for a family vacation.. and after the business of travel, we were ready to chow down on some seafood at the shore. On the street parking only, which can be a little tricky, but you should definitely be able to find a spot that is not too far. Small spot, takeout only.. it was pretty busy on a Friday night. The menu looked so appetizing.. I decided on the deviled crab sandwich and crab mac and cheese (refrigerated so you need to heat in the oven at home). Service was friendly enough.. it definitely took longer than we'd hoped.. we ran over to the Wawa to kill some time. Regarding the food, let's just say that I was underwhelmed.. even though the sandwich was HUGE, I think that the crab cake breading coupled with the actual bread was just too much. And the crab cake itself was ok... seemed like more filler than I'd prefer. The crab mac and cheese was really disappointing.. it tasted like a box mac and cheese with really no crab meat in it. I was sad because it looked so good and we truly were waiting for it to knock our socks off. Other family members ordered items that they said were ok. Don't bother. They can't manage to fry flounder in under 2 hours. They can't offer their food unless it's ordered 3 hours ahead of time. It's not that good that it's worth the wait. We have ordered there before in February and still took them over an hour, and the food was just as good as any other take out place. But, the other places don't reprimand you for not giving them 3 hours notice. read more

I absolutely love Rick's! If you are in Wildwood it is a must visit. The seafood is fresh, and flavorful! The Clab soup is our favorite! Its 50% clam chowder and 50% crab chowder. The portions are huge and well worth the price. I also wholeheartedly recommend the broiled seafood platter, its very generous and can easily feed 2. The only down side to Ricks is that there are only 2 picnic tables outside to eat there. The better move is to get it to go and eat it someplace with a nice view. read more

Rick's Seafood has always been a family favorite. That ended this week. While we were waiting for our food, a Chinese family came in using a translation app to place their order. Instead of simply helping them, the man behind the counter said, "Turn the phone around. Aren't you late for your flight?" He then turned around, repeated the comment to the people working in the back, and they all laughed. My heart literally sank. We got our food, walked outside, and I started tearing up because I couldn't believe what I had just witnessed. I'm posting this because I think others deserve to know about the experience we witnessed. I don't know if the man behind the counter was the owner or an employee, but I can only speak to what I personally saw and heard. To me, the comment came across as a racist stereotype, and the laughter afterward made it even worse. I cannot and will not support a business where something like that happens. read more

It was our first time here and we are so glad we stopped by! We drove all the way from Los Angeles and decided to try this place based on other reviews, and then go to the North Wildwood beach for our first visit to the Atlantic Ocean. I had fried calamari, we shared their "clab" chowder, husband had fish n chips, kids had lump crab cocktail and fried shrimp. It was all delicious and we'd definitely visit again. Great TAKEOUT ONLY seafood place in North Wildwood. IMPORTANT: do yourself a favor and call ahead to order your food. Also make sure you call WAY in advance! If you tell them what you plan to order they will tell you the wait time. For example, I called at 4:30 pm on a Friday to order two platters and they said they were already pushed out to 8 pm pick up but were able to fit me in for a 6:10 pick up. If you give yourself enough time, you won't be disappointed. I ordered the seafood combo platter and it was so much food! I saved half of the seafood for another meal. The platters come with two sides, either baked potato, steak fries, or onion rings and either cole slaw or apple sauce. My wife and I are attending a car show and staying at the Jersey shore for the weekend. After the show was over, I wanted to kick back with a cold beer at a local seafood spot. Being from Long Island, I expected these places would be peppered throughout the town. This is not the case, we're in Jersey! Jersey has to make everything a challenge, even their turn lanes are silly. My search leads us to Ricks Seafood. Ricks seafood is a take out spot serving no cold beer. Im tired and hungry at this point, I asked for our take out soups now and we'll wait for meals. I ordered a fried flounder and scallop combo and my wife ordered fried flounder and shrimp combo. We go outside and dive into the soup. OMG! The soup was incredible!! Large fish chunks throughout and just the right amount of cream. Total fan. Now even though this is a seafood spot, it's not fine dining. We're sitting outside at a picnic table with the garbage bins over flowing with trash. There are no bathrooms to use or tables inside. Wait for your food and split. We finished the delicious soup and our takeout food is ready. Looking at what we ordered, this is a very large portion. I have to say the seafood was very fresh. My scallops were cooked perfectly. The flounder was heaven in my to go box. This takeout spot is a hidden treasure. Fresh fish cooked very well to go. All I needed was a cold beer! read more

Rick's is the best. Best fries, seafoods fresh. They give you all the sauces you need, without even asking. The people are kind, and hard-working. Rick's Seafood was recommend by a family friend. We knew it was a take out joint. We went on a Thursday evening around 5:30. We placed 3 fried platter orders and were told the food would not be ready until 8:00. We were hungry, so we left. The next day we called about 2:45. Placed the same order and were given an 8:30 pickup time. We did not get our food until 9. Was it good? Yes. Will I eat there again? Probably not, unless I was in Wildwood off season. The kitchen is not equipped to handle the volume of food they prepare and there are too many restaurants options in Wildwood. I don't know how the staff works in that hot little place. I came to wildwood for a vacation. This is my families first time getting seafood together. One of my members saw this ad in a paper.. so we decided to go ahead and try. Took 3 attempts to get a hold of someone. After we headed out and got the food. Sat down at the hotel table and one member opened their container and the entire fish wasn't in there.. only the potato. Everyone else got their meals.. luke warm and good portions. First time here and it won't be the last. We've been coming to North Wildwood since we bought our summer home there years ago and I can say we've eaten at 90% of the many restaurant offerings both off and on the 5 mile island. We've always known about Rick's seafood and their favorable reviews via word of mouth and of course on Yelp, but never patronized them. We always preferred to eat seafood at a bar or restaurant because we felt that spending the money on quality seafood should be coupled with some sort of nice atmosphere or setting, preferably on or near some body of water. Conversely, since the pandemic and associated restrictions on restaurants we felt that paying restaurant prices for takeout from our favorite places that have the ambiance wasn't that appealing to us. And then there is Rick's. Well known for their seafood market and takeout dinners we decided to try it. We called in an order for their famous clam chowder and a broiled seafood dinner. We called at 7 PM on a Friday night and was given a 9:05 PM pickup time. I arrived at 9 PM and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes as they were a bit behind schedule. I was instantly impressed with the seafood market and all the selections and the decent prices. They also offered a decent selection of locally made seafood related products such as Hank's sauces made in nearby Sea Isle City and cans of Cape May clams. Alas, my order was ready and I was asked if I wanted seeded or unseeded bread. I chose seeded and was handed an entire loaf of Italian bread with my food. The clam chowder was fair but not fantastic and the potatoes were a bit hard but the broiled seafood combo which we got with our choice of sides (baked potatoes and cole slaw) was absolutely phenomenal. So, good that it may have been the best seafood dish I've ever ordered. Definitely, more than enough for 2 at just over $30 and loaded with sea scallops, a lobster tail, clams, and jumbo shrimp all cooked perfectly and in the most delicious sauce I would guess is a white wine, butter, parsley, fresh lemon, coriander seed and some other spices. Eating the seafood was one heavenly bite after another and then as we took our last delectable bites and although feeling full, I found myself looking at the menu and planning what to order for the next time. read more

It pains me to write this review. I had really high hopes for Ricks given all of the positive accolades. It just wasn't it for us. Tip: call ahead to order. We ordered probably 5 hours in advance and there were only 2 time slots left when we wanted to pick up. I had seen a recent prior review with the crab and linguine on google and it looked incredible. I gave it a shot. The portion looks like it doubled in comparison to last year since ownership changed (based on Google review photos). Normally I would not complain about quantity, but it was quantity over quality here. The sauce ruined the entire dish. The pasta was a little gummy and the sauce was super gelatinous and drowning the dish. A huge turn off. The crab was amazing but ruined by the sauce. The cream of crab has zero flavor and tasted like pure cream. For $80+ dollars I was super disappointed. The pasta sauce was leaking everywhere and the employee handed us an entire long roll as a thank you for ordering pasta. While this was appreciated, this was done with his bare hands after touching money, etc. read more

I was in the mood for cooked blue crabs and having a hard time finding them in Wildwood Crest. The first place I went to informed me that they no longer sold crabs (despite having a logo of a crab on the roof of their business..) but they recommended that I try Rick's. So I called ahead to make sure they had them before driving and eating gas. And boy am I happy I did! Rick's doesn't look like much.. Just a quiet mom and pop like corner takeout store with a wide variety of fresh seafood. Not only did they have cooked blue crabs, the crabs were a nice size still had all the legs and claws on them and the bonus for me was that they were well seasoned!! I wasn't expecting that they would be seasoned let alone well seasoned! I also purchased their homemade lobster bisque and clam chowder soup. You can taste the love, the richness of the bisque. It was so delicious that at the end of my trip and before heading back home I'm swinging by Rick's for more of their soups, bisque and to try their Crab Mac and cheese!! We were visiting Wildwood with kids at the beach, then went here as per local recommendation. We were at the place (take out only) at 6pm and was told we had to wait for 3 hours in order to get our food as the kitchen is behind. We only wanted fried seafood with clam chowder, we left the place and said no thanks for the 3hrs of wait. Can you imagine the wait with kids with us? How do you operate a restaurant when you have to ask your guests to wait for 3 hrs to get a platter of fried seafood? There is nothing close by either and the place is your typical take out joint. Not tourist friendly and will not make another 30mins drive to stop here again! read more
