We were initially planning to eat at Uries for dinner (at the recommendation of our hotel concierge), but they were closed for a private event (it's a popular party spot!). We ended up at the Boathouse Restaurant next door, and it did not disappoint! (Boathouse, Uries, and Beach Creek are all part of the same restaurant group). We came during night time, so we didn't get to enjoy the view, but we were seated near the water to look out at the dark boats. Diane was our waitress and she was superb! Service was excellent across the board. Diane was personable, attentive and efficient, checked on us regularly, refilled drinks, brought out food, did all the necessary staging, etc. - this was the epitome of good service. I really commend management because every server that I observed had that personable and hospitable touch that makes the Boathouse such a pleasant dining experience. To start the meal, we were treated to complimentary bread service and a house salad (dressing is an herb vinaigrette). Diane even brought out extra cheese to top the salad with. Food was brought out at a reasonable pace. We ordered oysters (from Delaware Bay) for our appetizer. It came with half a dozen ($17). It was served with cocktail sauce and a lemon. The oysters were served cool and fresh and were a good size. I do prefer a brinier oyster, but that was the catch of the day. Each entree (excluding pasta) comes with your choice of potato (French fries, baked, or roasted) and a veggie (green beans or cole slaw). I ordered the scallops entree ($42). You can get it broiled or fried. I opted for the broiled scallops with French fries and green beans. These were local day boat scallops, which were fresh and a good size (not huge, but definitely not tiny bay scallops). I had over a dozen broiled scallops in a white wine and a lemon butter sauce. Flavor of the sauce could have been a little stronger, and one or two had some grit/sand to it. Admittedly, the food is a little pricey, but given it is a seafood restaurant featuring local catches, it's understandable. They do have sunset specials (early bird) which is a great deal. For the price, portion sizes weren't overly generous, but it was the perfect serving size to feel full and satiated (and still have room for dessert). Speaking of dessert, we ordered the Tuxedo Bomb ($10) to share. It was more ice cream than cake or mousse, but it was a nice frozen chocolatey treat to please any chocolate lover. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening, and service was excellent. I wouldn't necessarily rank it above any other seafood restaurant, but I would come again. Seriously, service is fantastic! Crab cake was a backfin crab cake, but it was decent. The blackened chicken alfredo was pretty bad though. We've been to the Boathouse a handful of times and the food is usually above average in quality, taste and price. Arrived on a Sunday around 5 during peak season to actually find the restaurant not as busy as expected. We sat at the bar until all of our party arrived. The orange crush was strong and refreshing. Hostess came over and said a large party had arrived, did we want to be seated now or wait another 15 or so in the bar. We opted to stay in the bar for another beverage while we listened to the guitar player sing. Our table for dinner was on the outside deck with a view of the marina. We came here for dinner last week on Tuesday evening. It's preseason we there was no wait for a table. We were seated on the back deck that is enclosed for bad weather. It was perfect! Had a nice view of the water, boats and the sky. We started with shrimp cocktail and mini crab balls followed by a salad and my boyfriend had a cup of soup (she crab soup). I ordered the broiled flounder with garlic green beans and red bliss potatoes. My boyfriend had the tuna steak on a bed of pineapple salsa and crab meat on top. I don't even know where to begin with this restaurant. We went on a Thursday (June 2) for a birthday dinner with 5 people. We asked to sit in the outdoor seating area since they weren't busy and there was no wait. They sat us at a 4 person table and urged us to squeeze an extra chair in to make it seat 5 (uncomfortable). Massive | Dock | Blueberry Salmon Massive - The Boathouse is a massive restaurant. It has a substantial outdoor area and a good amount of room indoors. There is also a good size outdoor bar that is covered in case there is ran. Dock - There is a size-able dock with 6-8 slips in front of the restaurant and an additional 8-10 around the area at other restaurants. We drove a 50 foot boat into on of the sips right in front of the outdoor area. It was pretty cool and we were mini celebrities when we pulled up in our two boats. Blueberry Salmon - I had the Blueberry Salmon from the sunset menu. For the price point it was pretty amazing. It came with two sides. I had the Fries and Steamed Carrots. The Salmon was about an 8 oz fillet. The Blueberry was an interesting flavor on salmon. The mesquite was savory but the blueberries themselves were bitter. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal and would highly recommend it. The only downside is the blueberry, I would just ditch them. Pro Tip: Sunset menu starts at 4pm. Mixed review here for sure as I have been coming here for the food and sunsets with my family since I was a kid. But, the restaurant management needs to focus on the details to get my business again. Some advice: 1. Be sure to clean the water glasses on the table. For a "sunset" service, the sun will quickly show how clean they are. I had to ask for a new glass twice, and the second still had lipstick on it. 2. The "Sunset Margarita" was the worst margarita I have ever had. Just mix and no Grand Manier. A few days ago we popped in for lunch while we waited for a Silverbullet speedboat dolphin watch -(which was great by the way-highly recommend.) lunch was great as always. Even the coleslaw that accompanied my hubby's fish and chips was pretty tasty. Overall I highly recommend the boathouse for lunch or dinner. They also were covid compliant which is a huge plus for us. The reason for the 4 stars? Although the drinks looked pretty they were totally watered down lacking alcohol and taste. Also they were more than stated on the menu. I don't mind when it comes to price-especially for alcoholic beverages but when your menu states one price and you are given two drinks that are watered down and not slushy for frozen beverages, it's a let down.
