    Crab cake sandwich

Amazing service, kind people, and exceptional food! We didn't make a reservation and the owner was able to find a table for us. The servers are so so sweet and helpful and the food was YUM. We got the BBQ pork belly tacos and crab cake sandwich, and oh my goodness. Delicious. Highly recommend. Beautiful and shaded rooftop, and the prices are amazing. Served quickly. Loved this place.

    The entertainment was great!

My family and I went to the Surfside Rooftop Grill and it was dynamite! The service was super fast, and the food was delicious! They had a live singer, NolanCod Sandwich Quinn, who was amazing! Our waitress, Megan, who was super nice and attentive all of our special requests was great! I loved our experience at the Surfside Rooftop Grill and we are definitely coming back!

Nice oysters, it's also a BYOB.

My wife and I really enjoy the laid back atmosphere. Service is top notch. Food is always consistently good. Nice variety of oysters. Looking forward to being regulars again throughout the summer months

Fun atmosphere with good food and service. Grace and Sky did a great job serving us, and the Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese was delicious!

Ambiance and service was great. The food was mediocre at best. Even the Mac and Cheese was a fail, not sure how you mess that up!

Overpriced and food quality was okay. Lobster rooo is very overpriced and all claw meat. Fries were excellent and sandwiches were okay

The menu reads like a love letter to the region -- Stone Circle Farm spinach, Sickler Farm eggs, Jersey asparagus, local tuna. This isn't farm-to-table as aesthetic. It's farm-to-table as commitment, and you can taste the difference. We started with the picada. The deviled smoked trout egg with trout caviar and micro chive was quietly spectacular -- the kind of dish that makes you stop mid-conversation. The grilled Ludlam oyster with koji BBQ butter and braised collard greens was deeply satisfying, Southern and coastal at once. For mains, the wood-fired grill is the move. The hanger steak (Entraña Gruesa) from Creekstone Farm was everything a steak should be -- robust, tender, properly marbled. Paired with the tallow herbed fries, I had zero regrets. I also got to enjoy king salmon aged 6 days, full of flavor and excellent to share with a table mate. The strawberries with lemon soft cream for dessert were the right ending. Simple. Perfect. In a shore town full of places coasting on location, La Porteña is actually trying. And succeeding. I've been 3 times so far and can't wait to go back.

Lots of options for your main with upgrade options and side additions. We really enjoyed Empanada, Gazpacho, and Asparagus with Serrano ham. For mains, I recommend the Iberico Pork (comes with a wonderfully fresh salad and Argentinian fries). The short ribs were different than we expected (not thick cut, tender, and rich, but very thin, bones, and not as tender). The short ribs had good flavor, but not what we would order again. For dessert comes rice pudding, which was nice.

In reality, this was a grossly overpriced meal for a lot of hit/miss items and rather small portions. To start, we reserved the covered patio. The chairs were wildly uncomfortable with no low back support. Service was friendly and attentive, always refilling waters and clearing plates. I do appreciate how the staff acknowledged our special occasion and even printed a keepsake menu. This did not go unnoticed. Now for the food: You pay $95/pp for a 4 course meal. 6 small (shared) plates that are merely 1-3 bites per small plate, per person, and an entree and dessert of choice per person. $95 pp wouldn't be horrible if the small plates were executed properly and if you got more than 1 small parm crisp and 1 small fritter per person just as an example. The portions were laughable, and this was moreover a tasting. Some items needed simple basics such as salt and acid to round them out. The beet salad, green beans and fritters were severely underseasoned. The star of the show was the linguine and clams. We both ordered this. This portion was appropriate. Again, for the small salads/bites, a pasta dish per person and a slice of cake per person, a more appropriate price point would have been approx $55-75 per person contingent on your entree (there was also steak and fish). The lemon mirror cake was a nice ending to the meal and we appreciated the complimentary coffee. We left with the general consensus that it was good, not great, nor memorable, and felt we overpaid for the quality and portions. Of note: this is also a BYOB.

The spot on the water with the view of the dunes is gorgeous. I don't mind paying for an expensive meal. But over $100 a person for average portion size and no drinks (it's BYOB) is crazy. For that reason alone I wouldn't go back. I need at least one martini to justify paying $130 a person.
