First time here since Surfside replaced Chill. Much better than Chill in our opinion. Came for dinner on a Wednesday and it was very welcoming and friendly. Hostess tried to seat us in what we saw as the worst available table but to her credit moved us to a better table immediately when asked. Shouldn't have had to ask. Service was very well organized. It could have been timelier when checking on status on when trying to pay the bill, but it was friendly and fine. Love the BYOB. Next day surprised and disappointed to find a 3% "convenience" charge on the bill they didn't tell or warn me about. It wasn't convenient! No idea what it was for. Paid by Visa which I believe charges merchants 2%. Was I supposed to pay in cash?? French fries were excellent - some of the best. Very good fried oyster Po'boy. Exceptional coleslaw. Large crab cake sandwich with good flavor. Thought the parmesan oyster appetizer was pretty good but overpriced for only 6 medium sized oysters. Steamer appetizer was excellent with lots of clams and a great broth. Most seafood entrees seemed overpriced (inflation impacted I assume), so we went with sandwiches. Loved the live music and his song selection, but a bit loud making it hard to converse at the same time. read more

On the roof of 96th st It's a byob so no alcohol They did non alcoholic drinks so that was nice for the kids and also a little kitschy for the adults. Some tables with umbrellas and a few under cover. Bring your sunglasses. I liked the atmosphere and would probably be cool at night. The male host who claimed to be the owner decided to argue with us upon arrival despite us changing our reservation by a half hour via phone. While he decided to berate us, there were at least 15+ tables open and was going to seat us regardless. It was by far the rudest experience I've ever had at a restaurant. When I told the owner that it's a bad look to be arguing with customers like this when there are so many open tables he decided to double down and give me his resume that he'd been doing this for 40+ years. If that is the case he should know better than to attempt to turn away a party of 7 on a holiday weekend when 75% of his tables are vacant. Also many menu items were 86ed on Labor Day weekend. Would not recommend this restaurant AT ALL. On top of all of that, the server didn't write down any of our orders for a table of 7 and I hate that because I know what it leads to... aaaand I was correct. Orders came out wrong and some orders didn't come out at all. New spot that opened up on top of the arcade on 96th st. We originally had reservations for dinner, but when I called to ask what they do if it rains, their phone line wasn't set up/working (at least the number on their website/google - maybe there is a different working number). For anyone wondering, if it ends up raining, they have a covered section they can seat people in! We ended up just walking in for lunch and it wasn't too busy, but there were other tables there. They are a BYO with some fun mocktails so we each ordered a variation of a mojito and both were excellent and so refreshing. To eat, we ordered a house salad with the sherry tarragon dressing (so good), the poke bowl, and the almost world famous Cuban sandwich. The sandwich alone almost made me give this review 5 stars - I'm not sure when I've had a better one! The poke bowl was fine but lacked flavor and if we went again I don't think we'd reorder. It was definitely pricey for what we ordered (~$100 for lunch), which was a little tough to justify. That being said, it was a lot of food. All in all, a fun spot in a fun location, worth it for the Cuban sandwich alone. We will be back! read more

We had an excellent time here. The staff was amazing. Our waitress, Alice, was super nice and attentive to all of our needs. Megan was also great as she walked me through the menu to handle my allergy needs because I have Celiac. The food was excellent as well. The swordfish special was delicious and since they have a dedicated gluten free fryer, I was able to enjoy some tasty French fries. The rooftop atmosphere was top notch. Look, I fully realize that it's hard to find help at a seaside restaurant, especially in late summer. However - there should be a MINIMAL LEVEL OF STANDARD for who you DO hire, when you are charging people money. We went last year and thought the atmosphere was pleasant enough, service good and although much better than Chill (previous place) the food was just mediocre. We fully planned on returning in 2023. Fast forward to last Monday night. We were seated promptly for our 7pm reservation. A young girl steps up and can barely articulate her name and what her purpose is. She seemed a bit in a rush and basically threw the placard at us with the specials and started running off. WAIT! Per the BYOB policy, we would like our corked bottle of wine opened. This request literally puzzled her and after staring at us for a while she asks, "Do you need glasses for that?" Wow. Yes we do obviously and can we please get it opened? She ran back with glasses and then disappeared. 30 minutes passed, no return to our table and our bottle remained unopened. We could see her hustling to the table behind us and when not fixating on them - she was chatting up the other servers. Frustrated, we took our bottle of wine and left. On the way out I mentioned to the girl at the front desk that we got no attention after 30 minutes and we would be taking our business elsewhere. Her answer? "Oh thanks! Please come again." Friday July 28, 2022 First time here and I can't say enough great things! From the moment we got there we were greeting with a smile. Our server was great and our meals were out of this world. Being on a roof top was a definite plus!! If you haven't been there you are surely missing out. Go relax with a bottle of your favorite wine because yes it's a BYOB as well! Wow! We stumbled on this gem of a restaurant on the rooftops of Stoneharbor. The food was amazing. We had the chicken flat bread appetizer, which was on the special menu and it was one of the best flatbreads I've ever had. I had the salmon salad as an entrée and it was fantastic! My son had a hamburger which he said was delicious as well. We ended up ordering more fries because everyone was stealing from his plate. They are some of the tastiest fries I've ever had. There was live music which added to the wonderful night. We will certainly be going back!! read more

Stay away. Terrible service, rude people. Got take out last Friday. Looked at the menu online before going, states the risotto was $28 I thought it was high for a side but everyone wanted it so I ordered two. Tried calling on the phone was put on hold over and over again. Went to the restaurant and ordered in person. Everyone was clueless about the process and it seemed like I was the first person ever to order takeout. Turns out the risotto is NOT $28 but rather $32. When I asked the waitress about it she got the "manager" who is also the hostess. She said it's "fair market value" WHAT? For risotto? It's not lobster people. And the description was different than the website. The website description does not have mushrooms; the restaurant does. Why is the website still not updated as of today? Is it hard? And the risotto wasn't that good! Certainly not worth $32 per order!! Also ordered a side Caesar salad and was charged for a full salad. When I asked about that, the waitress got huffy and said you didn't ask for a side. I know I did. Also there's a convenience fee charge - not sure what for since the entire process was INCONVENIENT! For two orders of risotto, a steak and cheese, a Caesar salad (full) and side salad the total was $111.81. What a rip off!! read more

Surfside has really good food, especially their seafood. The setting is really nice. The restaurant in on the roof of a building that is on the main strip. Highly recommend getting the crab cakes or salmon. read more

Terrific sandwiches and awesome venue. We enjoy watching the sunset from this rooftop restaurant on 96th St in Stone Harbor. We have had dinner twice here and the food has been creative and very good. I had the terrific pimento cheese burger on our first visit and the best Cuban sandwich l've ever eaten on our second visit. My partner had the cod sandwich and thought it was just OK. But their French fries were as good as anyplace in town. So if you are looking for something new and different, give Surfside Grill a shot. read more

It rained today. It's an outdoor restaurant but knew it had some covering and unsure how much, tried to call to find out. we made online reservations weeks ago. No one answered so no idea what to expect. Looked online to see if they explain weather policy. Nothing. Place was closed. No one called us. No email notification. Nothing on website and no recorded message when I called about "due to the weather". I've eaten many places under tents and awnings do not unreasonable to think it possible with the conditions but alerts to customers with reservations shoukd have been a simple courtesy. read more

Was happily greeted by the hostesses and excited to enjoy a nice relaxing meal. When looking at the menu was impatiently asked if we were done after looking at it for 2 minutes. Asked for a few more minutes to look over the options and when he came back as i was ordering was interrupted multiple times and unable to finish saying my order. Overall bad attitude and seemed annoyed to have to be there. We overhead him talking to other tables and seemed to have no problems. He went over the mock tail/drink menu and the specials with the other tables which was not offered to us. Great addition to Stone Harbor! The ambiance is wonderful and the food is even better. We came in for lunch. I enjoyed an entree salad with salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was a large portion. The appetizer crab cake was delicious. There was very little filler. Best burger in Stone Harbor and it's not even close! Had the mushroom Swiss and truffle oil burger and it was huge cooked perfectly and one of the best burgers I've had anywhere! Went there for dinner early, about 5:30 PM. We did not have reservations but had our baby granddaughter with us. Asked for a table of 5 in the shade. They said no problem. I went downstairs to get my son and daughter-in-law. We go up and they have sat us at a small table for 4 in the sun. I go back to the hostess and ask about changing tables. I had asked for a table of 5 plus the baby in the shade. She tells me that is the only table and they have reservations for the rest. The place was almost empty mind you. So I asked why they did not tell me that in the first place. I would not have bothered. No answer. Needless to say we left and went to another restaurant. Not going back here either with that kind of service. Prices seemed exceptionally high anyway so maybe it was for the best. $40 lobster roll and $40 crab cake is very steep. However we placed our order at 8:30pm for appetizers and then entrees, never were asked if we want dessert and at 9:35pm the bartender leaned over the bar and said "let's wrap it up, we want to go home". Wanted to check out the new place in Stone Harbor. The hostess was very welcoming and we were seated immediately upon arrival (for our 7:30 reservation). Our server came over immediately and asked if we wanted a drink - it's a BYO so we requested ice waters and wine glasses and a bucket w/ice for our white wine. That's when it started to go down hill. They were busy so we were being patient, however after approximately 25 minutes waiting and no one coming back with requested items or to take our order I had to go back to hostess stand and ask if our server had left for the night. Another server quickly went to help. Our order was taken - apps: Clams Casino (very good) and Calamari (also very good with a delicious marinara that tasted like it had cocktail sauce mixed in - nice touch!); Dinners: my husband ordered the Ribeye special (very good and cooked as requested); I had the Halibut special (also very good with a large piece of fish - I couldn't finish it). My only issues are with the service - after our food arrived the server didn't come over for a longgggg time - until we were basically finished eating , then she asked if everything came out OK. It would have been nice for her to ask this right after we were served, especially considering my husband ordered a steak and sometimes they are not cooked to the level of doneness requested. The setting is nicely done and warm / welcoming, hostess was great, food was good but I think we just got a very inexperienced server (perhaps have her shadow someone for a while before giving her tables to work herself). It appeared all other servers were hustling and orders were being taken and food coming out quicker than ours. We also enjoyed the live music (not sure his name) but he played some good tunes. In summary, I'm sure they have some glitches to work out and we would try again - and hope we get a more experienced, attentive server. read more

From the appetizers ( burrata, crab cakes, and calamari) to the entrees (awesome scallops and risotto, great choices for vegetarian and gluten free diets as well) everything was delicious.
