Here on Sunday morning! This place is popping! My kids love the pork chop sandwiches! It's fried perfectly crispy and the bun is perfectly soft and pillowy! I had the congee and fried cruellers. My son loves the fish balls and peanut butter rice rolls! We have been coming here for a bit, everything we have tried has been so delicious! Not many of these HK style cafes around anymore! This one is great! The service is also good, the ladies behind the counter are very nice! Thanks!

I'm back every chance I get. Simply love their breakfast and $10 lunch/dinner entrees. Only wish they were closer to my home. Bear in mind CASH only. I guess that's the only downside.

This use to be a 10 in my book! I use to eat here so much that I practically know the chefs dishes by heart. Yeah... It was THAT serious! IMO I would recommend their Rice Noodles with Fish balls (lots of sauce) HANDS DOWN ! Best ! I've eaten places where I had to wait on line (pre Covid) for hrs! for a "meh" experience. The portions here are great. Bang for your buck. Perfect ratio of sauce and roll noods & balls. Nuff said. 2nd recommendation. Their Taiwanese Chicken Chop on rice. This basically has everything you need! Mince pork, pickled veg, tea egg and a fried piece of dark meat on rice! I did notice it's slightly changed cause now its made by someone else other then the original chef..but still as good. 3rd recommendation. The Braised Pork Belly over rice. When winter is here. THIS is what comfort food is like. Definitely helps stick some meat to your bones! My only complaint is the Curry Beef Stew over rice.... It use to be good. Now it has this weird fusion/fastfood style of a taste... but some may like it with the whole peppers and onions mix with a semi sweet curry? with the old? Overall. Me thinks not ~

Baked ham and chicken over rice with tomato sauce, beef chow fun and baked pork chop over spaghetti with cream sauce.

The baked pork chop with tomato sauce or with cream sauce are delicious. The pork chop is lightly breaded with moist meat. The quantity of of pork chop is generous. You can't go wrong with either spaghetti or rice. The beef chow fun and baked ham and chicken over rice are flavorful and not dry. The moistness and texture made the dishes appetizing. I called ahead of time and the order was ready. They also have a bakery section with buns and pastries. I bought some pastries and I enjoyed its crispy almond cookie. 88 Canteen has restored indoor dining and it was a busy Sunday afternoon with many waiting for their orders. There is natural lighting coming into the store and the food is well stocked and organized. Too bad most of the buns were sold out, which says something about its popularity. Parking is available nearby either metered parking except for Sundays or further away from Main Street in the residential areas.

Best pork chop bun (sandwich) in town! At this small eatery, you'd find the service to be quick and friendly. For less than $5, you'd get a well seasoned, lightly fried pork chop sandwiched with lettuce and mayo in a toasted buttery bun. While you're munching on this crispy and tender pork chop sandwich, do yourself a favor, wash it down with an authentic HK style milk tea. Thank me later.

Fish with corn over rice

Have been coming here since they opened a few years ago but not recently. Their salt baked chicken with rice has generous portion and tasty chicken. Baked pork chop with rice was tasty with fried rice at the bottom. The sauce is not sauce and it was just right. Fish with corn over rice: only 5 pieces of fish. It was more generous before. All to go boxes are shallow depth. Size portion was obviously reduced. Overall 4 stars. Definitely will return. Also recommend their rice noodle roll with mixed sauce 混醬腸粉 and pork chop bun 豬扒包。

What time do they serve lunch? Can I call ahead and pick up later? How quick is the take out service?

There's no distinction for "lunch". They open early for breakfast and you can order whatever you want from the menu. Certain breakfast foods won't be available for lunch or later in the day. And yes, they are fast and efficient. Call and they will… Read more

It's a little spicy but it's the perfect flavor. I also really enjoy the pineapple bun with the butter and also of course the Hong Kong milk tea is amazing because it's super caffeinated and the condensed milk makes it really sweet. I love the cafe aesthetic. It's very new and clean with the neon lights.

We ordered: Borscht Soup ($5.95) - This has been pretty solid in both the Flushing and Chinatown location. It's rich in flavor, and quite tart. I did find the beef to be a little tough though. Beef Chow Fun in Brown Sauce ($13.25) - This was a little salty, but beef was tender and you can taste the flavors/heat of the wok in this dish, which is nice. Curry Fish Fillet Over Rice ($10.25) - This was also on the salty side, but it pairs nicely with the mountain of rice. Lemon Tea ($4.25) - Solid HK Lemon Tea with a good combination of sugar and lemon. This location looks more modern but still keeps the essence of how chachatangs are like in Hong Kong. Overall, I think the portion sizes are good for the price and if you can't finish, I would definitely take leftovers home and add rice or extra noodles to make use of the sauces! If I'm craving HK comfort food, I'm happy to have a location that is close to me! Note: Its only cash or venmo here. There is one unisex bathroom.

We got the beef brisket curry with ho fun noodles and it tasted exactly like the HK curry noodle dishes I had growing up. The pork w salted fish hotpot rice had a lot of flavor without being overly salty, and it had crispy rice at the bottom of the pot. This was a very nostalgic meal for me. One week later, we returned to try the breakfast. For breakfast, we tried (1) combo E with pork chop; it is a good portion and comes with a hot coffee/tea; (2) mixed sauce rice roll, I like that it's cut side ways in half with bigger surface for sauce, but the sauce is a bit sour for me, won't order again; (3) pineapple bun with thick butter, have always wanted to try this somewhere and finally tried it, no regrets but may not order it regularly; (4) hot HK milk tea with half sugar, the hot version tastes a bit astringent (涩) to me. Though they did have a dish or two that didn't seem to be available even though we arrived pretty early for lunch. I'd rather they just adjust the menu than tease us with something we want off the menu and then have to feel pressured to find a substitute while the waitress is waiting for us to order. We had the salt & pepper pork was a popular dish (based off of Yelp reviews, wink wink) and it did not disappoint. We also had the egg shrimp chow fun, soy sauce fried noodles, hot and sour soup and HK ying yang drink. Prices were a bit above normal but quality is good. I'll be back.
