Here on Sunday morning! This place is popping! My kids love the pork chop sandwiches! It's fried perfectly crispy and the bun is perfectly soft and pillowy! I had the congee and fried cruellers. My son loves the fish balls and peanut butter rice rolls! We have been coming here for a bit, everything we have tried has been so delicious! Not many of these HK style cafes around anymore! This one is great! The service is also good, the ladies behind the counter are very nice! Thanks!

I'm back every chance I get. Simply love their breakfast and $10 lunch/dinner entrees. Only wish they were closer to my home. Bear in mind CASH only. I guess that's the only downside.

This use to be a 10 in my book! I use to eat here so much that I practically know the chefs dishes by heart. Yeah... It was THAT serious! IMO I would recommend their Rice Noodles with Fish balls (lots of sauce) HANDS DOWN ! Best ! I've eaten places where I had to wait on line (pre Covid) for hrs! for a "meh" experience. The portions here are great. Bang for your buck. Perfect ratio of sauce and roll noods & balls. Nuff said. 2nd recommendation. Their Taiwanese Chicken Chop on rice. This basically has everything you need! Mince pork, pickled veg, tea egg and a fried piece of dark meat on rice! I did notice it's slightly changed cause now its made by someone else other then the original chef..but still as good. 3rd recommendation. The Braised Pork Belly over rice. When winter is here. THIS is what comfort food is like. Definitely helps stick some meat to your bones! My only complaint is the Curry Beef Stew over rice.... It use to be good. Now it has this weird fusion/fastfood style of a taste... but some may like it with the whole peppers and onions mix with a semi sweet curry? with the old? Overall. Me thinks not ~

Baked ham and chicken over rice with tomato sauce, beef chow fun and baked pork chop over spaghetti with cream sauce.

The baked pork chop with tomato sauce or with cream sauce are delicious. The pork chop is lightly breaded with moist meat. The quantity of of pork chop is generous. You can't go wrong with either spaghetti or rice. The beef chow fun and baked ham and chicken over rice are flavorful and not dry. The moistness and texture made the dishes appetizing. I called ahead of time and the order was ready. They also have a bakery section with buns and pastries. I bought some pastries and I enjoyed its crispy almond cookie. 88 Canteen has restored indoor dining and it was a busy Sunday afternoon with many waiting for their orders. There is natural lighting coming into the store and the food is well stocked and organized. Too bad most of the buns were sold out, which says something about its popularity. Parking is available nearby either metered parking except for Sundays or further away from Main Street in the residential areas.

Best pork chop bun (sandwich) in town! At this small eatery, you'd find the service to be quick and friendly. For less than $5, you'd get a well seasoned, lightly fried pork chop sandwiched with lettuce and mayo in a toasted buttery bun. While you're munching on this crispy and tender pork chop sandwich, do yourself a favor, wash it down with an authentic HK style milk tea. Thank me later.

Have been coming here since they opened a few years ago but not recently. Their salt baked chicken with rice has generous portion and tasty chicken. Baked pork chop with rice was tasty with fried rice at the bottom. The sauce is not sauce and it was just right. Fish with corn over rice: only 5 pieces of fish. It was more generous before. All to go boxes are shallow depth. Size portion was obviously reduced. Overall 4 stars. Definitely will return. Also recommend their rice noodle roll with mixed sauce 混醬腸粉 and pork chop bun 豬扒包。

I don't know if it's because my taste buds have changed but the food just wasn't as great as I remembered it. That being said, I definitely still enjoyed it. Stating off with what I liked most, the pineapple soda was super refreshing. It was not too sweet and perfectly bubbly with bits of pineapple within. The carbonara was great as well. The noodles were perfectly al dente and I just enjoy creamy noodles to begin with. The curry fishballs are always a staple and the same goes with the steamed rice rolls with mixed peanut sauce. Cannot go wrong with those two appetizers. The sandwich was a little disappointing. I know the items are in the name of the sandwich but it fell really flat and I guess I was expecting a little more. The baked rice was not great either. It took a long time to arrive which we weren't upset about as we were warned when we ordered but for something that took so long, I expected it to be a lot better. Maybe we just ordered the wrong item and should've gotten the baked noodles instead of the rice? Overall the food was okay, the service was good and the restaurant liked very nice and clean. I enjoyed the fact that the menu was under a glass on the table so I was able to keep looking at it too while I was eating to see if there was anything else that looked interesting.
