I went with a group of friends for Father's Day to Kabayan and was pleasantly surprised. They have a family feel with the store on one side and seating one the other side for your meal. The menu is extensive with lots of options to choose from appetizers to entrées to kabayan, and that can be split with a large group of the notable options was the sisig, the pork, and our table really loved the fish. The service was friendly and the staff was very attentive to our party. We decided for dessert to have some ice cream and the Ube flavor is delicious! They have it available for purchase in the store, we ended up leaving with two half gallons. All in all I would recommend Kabayan for a visit.

Happy to be able to eat out again. Crispy Pata, lechon kawali, Boneless bangus Sisig and Bulalo are delicious.

Omg for the love of all things good DO NOT GO HEREEEEEEEEEE. I was charged $31 for a small container of kaldereta and a mini size chicharon bulaklak. I was so shocked. I kept asking if it was right but it seemed like the people that worked there thought it was normal. I guess I just feel bad because i'm sure they don't get paid properly but wtf!!!!! Honestly if the food was good I think I wouldve just swallowed my pride but OMFG terrible terrible I was so disgusted. If you want a one way trip to the ER This place is it!!! Absolutely terrible. I cant believe how terrible it is. Truly gave it a chance because I thought people were being harsh... THEY ARE NOT. In fact think of the worst food youve ever had and multiply it by 1038338282882828384. Save yourself the trouble and run!!!!!!

Was in the area waiting for pizza to be ready so decided to stop in and see what they had. It was my second time inside. First time, was last summer during the pandemic, I walked in and left because no one was inside and didn't see many options. This time I saw people going in and out, so went to take a peek. There was a line for the hot food station (that's a good sign) and they all looked to be Filipino (even better sign). Saw that they had my favorite noodles, Palabok, so I got on line. Ordered a large (quart size) and ordered a pint of what looked like pork belly stew. The customer in front of me suggested getting the sweet plantain spring roll, so I did! I also grabbed some of their seasoning packets to try and make my own Filipino dishes...can't wait! Everything I bought was yummy! But I probably wouldn't get the spring roll again...I would stick with the traditional spring rolls. I will definitely be back to try other things.

A few years ago, they upgraded the store and added an eatery. My take: this was such a smart move. The eatery brings back even more nostalgia, joy, and happiness. What makes me happiest is the way they prepare the food--it feels like my own mom is in the kitchen, cooking and serving it straight to my table. Imagine how that feels. The service is excellent. Everyone is smiling and genuinely happy, which creates a warm, welcoming ambiance. Now that they have an eatery, I find myself coming back even more. It's such a great addition, especially with their tapsilogan meals--they truly make me feel at home. This place is a home away from home, and I really admire the smiling faces of the staff.

There's no alcohol here but that doesn't matter because the food is what you come for. I usually get the filipino breakfast when I come. Staff here has always been nice and welcoming to my family!! I will continue to come back and I hope the secret stays that way.

The chicken barbecue sticks were flavorful and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the lumpia Shanghai didn't quite hit the mark for me :( it tasted like it was fried in older oil, and the filling was very minimal, so it felt like mostly wrapper. I was most excited to try the pork sinigang. While the broth had good flavor, the pork didn't taste freshly cooked and came across as if it may have been made a day or two prior. Overall, I really liked the vibe of this place and the friendly service, which makes me hopeful that my next visit will be better. I'd definitely be open to giving it another try.

My Filipino friends recommended this place so we all came on a Friday night for dinner. The restaurant is located right on Roosevelt Ave under the 7th train so it is very hard to find parking. We saw double parkers everywhere. Our reservation was for 7 pm and when we got seated there were only 2 other small groups inside. The restaurant has a Kamayan special for $275 that comes with soda, unlimited rice, vermicelli noodles, vegetables, mussels, shrimp, giant fried Calamari, pork fist, bbq pork, chicken, fried fish. They prep the whole course on banana leaves on a wooden board near the kitchen before carrying it out and placing it onto our tables. The special is meant for 6-8 people which I think it's more for 5-7 depending on the group - if they're light or heavy eaters. The Kamayan spread was not just pleasant to the eyes, but delicious! Everything was so good and flavorful and perfectly crispy. My favorites are the crispy calamari, bbq pork, and mussels. My friends and I also ordered drinks that are not included in the special: the Weng Weng, the Red Horse, Avocado Smoothie, Mango Smoothie, and Ube Smoothie. The Weng Weng is their signature cocktail which reminds me of a better Malibu Bay Breeze. The Red Horse is the main beer in the Philippines which is pretty light and I don't really taste the after beer taste. The smoothies are all so creamy and good. My favorite would have to be the mango which reminds me of a mango lasi. I liked the ube better than I expected, but the avocado had a weird taste to it. We were so full from the spread and smoothies that we had no room for dessert. By the time we finished, the place was packed because at 9 pm there's open karaoke as well as live performances. I also caught a whif of the sisig on my way out and it smelled sooooo good. Would definitely be back for the mango smoothie, giant calamari, to try the sisig and halo halo. Service was great too! They always came to check on us from time to time and gloves were provided for the Kamayan spread if you didn't want to use your bare hands.

I'm a new fan! Was learning a lot more about Filipino restaurants in Elmhurst & on Queens Blvd…read more because they never seem like a lot of options for a decent lunch when I'd run errands at Target. A friend mentioned a grocery store nearby & I was happy enough since grocery stores are my one of favorite things. Before the restaurant space & grocery consolidated, I noticed the restaurant first (there were many different doors) & was wondering what kind of businesses was it - saw a few tables & it looked busy with people buying food at the steam tables. I looked but was intimidated by the different stews & nothing was labeled. Also, the giant name on the awning doesn't really show that it's a food business, I guess unless you know the language. I always thought it was some kind of furniture store. The "restaurant" has now moved inside the grocery store. I think it works pretty well, because it's so casual. There's about 6-8 tables and every time I go there's always aunties and elders eating. & a lot of people after work or maybe school going in to pick up their dinner. The food is fresh! I recommend the 2 combo plate & add a side of soup. There's a little bit of ordering anxiety, but I watch what other people are getting & if they're not too busy the young workers behind the counter are very nice about explaining things. I've had the beef calderata (beef stew & tomato), pork with liver sauce (actually really good, soy-saucey & deep. Not a strong liver flavor), vegetables (long beans, carrot & okra) in a sort of yellow, turmeric? coconut curry. Highly recommend getting their Sinigang soup of the day. If you like kind of hot & sour flavors (more on the sour end but a clear broth) try it! It's usually with pork but I had a special Salmon one & it was delicious! Found a whole okra & good vegetables in it. Ask for garlic rice (might be extra), it's worth it! There's a lot of options to try, sometimes there's BBQ skewers. You can also get individual sides, Pancit (a rice vermicelli noodle), saw a plate of Pancit Canton (lo mein noodles) come out from the back for a lady. Wish things were labeled or there was a written sign. Very much geared towards Filipino customers who are familiar with the dishes so I guess it's not a high priority. You also can't go wrong with Chicken Adobo (stewed chicken with soy sauce, vinegar, ginger. But has bones). The tables are clean & it's like a little canteen feel where every seems to run into an auntie or uncle they know. There's a case with a lot of coconut desserts & tapioca flour treats, and drinks. One single bathroom FYI. I forget if it's cash only (their register is separate from the grocery's), but paying with exact change in cash is probably easiest.

I don't know if that's true but I really like the food put out by the owner & her hubbylish. The Pork Sisig is good but different from what I'm used to. The flavor is there, just not the odds & ends if you know what I mean. I think it's just pork belly nothing from the head which is why I love it. But I'm a weirdo who loves innards & other bits & pieces in a world of non adventurous eaters. So it won't matter to anyone else. The flavor is delicious! But my favorite dish they make is the Beef or Chicken Pastel. It is so delicious! Tender pieces of chicken in a creamy sauce that also permeates the vegetables. Absolutely divine! Get it if they have it that day. You won't regret it. Have anything with the garlic rice. As a matter of fact, get garlic rice with the garlic rice. It's that good. And get the Pork with Eggplant.
