    Lumpiang Shanghai (Pork 10pcs)
    Eric H.

Filipiniana Restaurant & Catering - Today's food adventure took me straight to the heart of the Philippines located 84-05 Queens Blvd #1A, Queens, NY 11373. Started off strong with their Sizzling Pork Sisig served on a hot plate and paired with garlic rice - crispy, savory, and packed with flavor . Then came their Special Ox-Tail Kare-Kare - rich, peanuty, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Seriously next level. ‍ Also had to get the Lumpiang Shanghai, because no Filipino feast is complete without those crispy golden bites To drink, I couldn't resist their Special Halo-Halo - colorful, refreshing, and loaded with all the good stuff And just when I thought I was done, I wrapped it all up with their baked Ube flan - sweet, creamy, and a total dream If you're looking for legit Filipino comfort food in a chill spot, Filipiniana absolutely delivers! #FilipinoFood #FilipinianaNYC #Sisig #KareKare #HaloHalo #UbeFlan #FoodieInTheBigApple #NYCEats #ComfortFood #FilipinoCuisine

Skewer-Pinoy Street Food PORK BBQ 3PCS

Our company found this little spot and thought we gave it a try. We ordered the Chicken and Pork BBQ Skewers (3pcs) per order. The sig sig, the lechon with garlic rice and the pork lumpia and we shared the Halo Halo. First off. The lady on the phone sounded so sweet! Sadly, the food wasn't as pleasant as her voice. The Chicken & Pork BBQ Skewers were under seasoned and over cooked where the char was majority of the flavor. If you're going to use white meat for them I would use *Whispers* Baking soda. Trust me! It'll make a difference! The meats were simply dry and char/tasteless. The sauce that came with it did little to nothing. The lechon was not bad but if you're going to serve it to someone and they see this order as if it was half eaten!? Like where is the rest of the Lechon!? did our driver eat it on the way!? Wasup with the garlic rice!? chunks of it that was cold as if it was left overs from last night!? The Sisig was probably the highlight of it all. Had a nice kick to it. Flavors was on the blander side but overall it went well with the rice that had to be reheated. The lumpia may be fried perfectly but again under seasoned. It only taste good with the dipping sauce. The biggest disappointment was the Halo Halo. The vibrant colors and anything ice cream with toppings couldn't simply be a miss! Sadly it was.... the chunks of ice slushy and i assume are coconut flakes? I'm actually not sure because I was nawing on it for a good 5 mins to not figure out wtheck I was eating!? Also the dessert tasted like it was made before hand and put in the fridge for days cause you definitely can taste the fridge! Overall it was a bad experience. I wish it could've been better. Maybe the cook was off today!? who knows!? Also the garlic rice in general. 0 Garlic flavor.

This small Filipino spot tucked away on Queens Blvd is a true hidden gem! The food is authentic, and flavorful. They have so many different variety of food to choose from, from lumpia to skewers! The prices are fairly decent, staff is super friendly!

This was a delivery order so I definitely take into consideration that my order could've been messy due to the courier rather than the restaurant, though tighter packaging could've helped. The beef pares container was open and spilled on the rice boxes so I think it could've benefitted from being Saran wrapped up. But I digress. There were some highs in this order but unfortunately the lows were enough that I don't think I would order again. The beef pares was a little fatty but still had good flavor. The lumpia were great! And I was glad to receive so many in an order. Unfortunately, the pork sisig was so off-putting that it tainted the rest of the meal. I've had pork sisig before and I don't remember it ever being so full of crunchy cartilage.. like, literally no meat/jowl. Just tough and crunchy cartilage. I'm not sure if that's particular to Filipiniana? I swear there's usually more meaty bites. Unfortunately, the texture of that dish put us off the whole meal and had us wishing we ordered something else. I will say the ube flan was sort of redeeming and why the overall star rating isn't too low. In my opinion--get the lumpia and ube flan, stay far far away from the pork sisig!

I passed by this place awhile ago and wanted to try it. So today I dropped by on my own to give it a shot. It's very small inside. There were only three tables with benches and two of them were full. The third table seemed to be utilized. When the lady noticed me I asked for a table for one and she immediately cleared off the table for me. I sat down and was given a menu. They had a lot of things I wanted to try. I opted for the lechon kawali with rice. A few minutes later the food arrived in a cool metal dish. The lady pointed out on the ledge that there were more sauces I could use like fresh pickled chili, soy sauce, ghost pepper, and vinegar. I'm not an expert on Filipino food but I really enjoyed it. The hot lechon was so hot, crispy, and fatty. It needed the vinegary sauce to cut the fat. The rice was not as hot as I would like although it was a nice addition to the lechon. While I was there it looked like they were getting large orders of food to go. They seem to have a good catering business as well. Overall, friendly people and good food.

The skewer smells funky and is already mushy. It is not good for consumption anymore. Money down the drain.

Tried the breakfast combo with Tapsilog. I don't usually order tapa but remember it as dry beef. The meat here was tender and tasty. The eggs though were overcooked (wasn't asked how I wanted them, and I forgot to request also). The rice had some harder bits too. Got a combo 2 in a to-go container bec. thought easier to take home if not finished. However, portion is very small. Dinuguan had very fatty pieces, and the caldereta had 3 small bone-in pieces of meat. Kept at 3 stars bec I do like the taste of their cooking and for good service.

Not sure why I'm seeing such low ratings for a place that deserves a 5-star. I'm going to say this with my whole chest: this place is wonderful. As a Filipina, I go into Filipino places with high expectations always. When I walked into Filipiniana, I felt like I was at home. It is such a cozy spot. The way everything is set up reminds me of home!!! The way the soda and water is stacked up against the wall from the authentic Pinoy decor on the walls... to everyone speaking loudly to each other from the front to the kitchen. It's a small place because it's more of a grab and go spot. But there are places to sit down if you wish to. I sat down to eat because why not! I got the kalamansi juice which was so refreshing. Today, I ordered what I was craving which was kare kare and inasal. The kare kare was made beautifully. It wasn't heavy... it was super light which I prefer. The eggplants on top were roasted so nicely. The oxtail was very tender. I enjoyed it!!!! The chicken inasal came with garlic fried rice which I liked because I didn't have breakfast yet. lol. It was yummy! Once again, not heavy on the flavors. It was light but you got the flavors that you're used to when you're eating inasal. I liked the portions that they gave us. I ended up taking leftovers home because I got full right away. I didn't get any dessert this time but I'll definitely be back to try some. They have a whole range of desserts that us Filipinos know and love. I was eyeing their puto, bibingka, and flan!!! But I didn't buy it this time around. Next time, nothing will stop me. lol. My hope is that people will stop in and give this place a try! Don't let the negative reviews on Yelp turn you away. This is a hole in the wall that must be visited.

I've been eyeing this place for a while now, but I'm glad that I got to try it out. It's not a large place, and there's no restroom for customers to use. The server is super busy, but I don't think you need another person as it has its lulls and is too small for someone else to roam around. For the food, there were so many things to choose from, but I was in the mood for a stew. I got the special ox tail Kare kare with garlic ride. I first wanted the ox tail caldereta, but there was a mix-up. It was very filling, and the shrimp paste with the garlic rice hit the spot.

Inedible! Definitely leftover from yesterday then reheated! Hard as rock! How can they sell something like this? We ordered here for the first time, will never come back!

Only came here for dessert and had the halo halo and it was really good!! Served in a tall glass like they do back home :) place is cute and small. Wish they played some Bini hits like "Pantropiko" or "Salamin Salamin"

First of all, this restaurant is in my neighborhood. As soon as you walk in, the place is small but very cozy. The service is efficient, friendly, and extremely helpful. The food came out quickly and hot. I ordered the lechon kawali with garlic rice. The rice was a large portion and had plenty of lechon. They also have a hot bar section where you can order food that's already prepared. For dessert, I had the ube flan and I have to say it was one of the best flans I've ever had. You have to visit this place if you're in the Elmhurst area. It won't disappoint!

The chicken barbecue sticks were flavorful and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the lumpia Shanghai didn't quite hit the mark for me :( it tasted like it was fried in older oil, and the filling was very minimal, so it felt like mostly wrapper. I was most excited to try the pork sinigang. While the broth had good flavor, the pork didn't taste freshly cooked and came across as if it may have been made a day or two prior. Overall, I really liked the vibe of this place and the friendly service, which makes me hopeful that my next visit will be better. I'd definitely be open to giving it another try.

My Filipino friends recommended this place so we all came on a Friday night for dinner. The restaurant is located right on Roosevelt Ave under the 7th train so it is very hard to find parking. We saw double parkers everywhere. Our reservation was for 7 pm and when we got seated there were only 2 other small groups inside. The restaurant has a Kamayan special for $275 that comes with soda, unlimited rice, vermicelli noodles, vegetables, mussels, shrimp, giant fried Calamari, pork fist, bbq pork, chicken, fried fish. They prep the whole course on banana leaves on a wooden board near the kitchen before carrying it out and placing it onto our tables. The special is meant for 6-8 people which I think it's more for 5-7 depending on the group - if they're light or heavy eaters. The Kamayan spread was not just pleasant to the eyes, but delicious! Everything was so good and flavorful and perfectly crispy. My favorites are the crispy calamari, bbq pork, and mussels. My friends and I also ordered drinks that are not included in the special: the Weng Weng, the Red Horse, Avocado Smoothie, Mango Smoothie, and Ube Smoothie. The Weng Weng is their signature cocktail which reminds me of a better Malibu Bay Breeze. The Red Horse is the main beer in the Philippines which is pretty light and I don't really taste the after beer taste. The smoothies are all so creamy and good. My favorite would have to be the mango which reminds me of a mango lasi. I liked the ube better than I expected, but the avocado had a weird taste to it. We were so full from the spread and smoothies that we had no room for dessert. By the time we finished, the place was packed because at 9 pm there's open karaoke as well as live performances. I also caught a whif of the sisig on my way out and it smelled sooooo good. Would definitely be back for the mango smoothie, giant calamari, to try the sisig and halo halo. Service was great too! They always came to check on us from time to time and gloves were provided for the Kamayan spread if you didn't want to use your bare hands.
