Here were the top annoyances: Air Conditioning - Broke completely in the middle of our July trip, the mechanic said it was quite old and missing some screws. It wasn't possible to fix on the road, so we had no AC for 4 days. Sensors - Many of the key sensors were inaccurate. Ex: black tank level, water level. This proved very challenging for first time RVers like us, who didn't have a feel for how often to empty or refill tanks. Door - The screen door was missing a piece of plastic, which created a hole for bugs to come in and the door itself required a VERY hard closure to latch. My kids could rarely do it themselves. Awning - Not functional; directions in troubleshooting book didn't match type of awning on our RV. Generator - Shut off inexplicably a few times. Mattress - VERY old and worn. Electrical panel - Literally kept closed with duct tape and wouldn't stay closed. Easy to accidentally turn things off. Privacy curtain - Held back with duct tape. Easily knocked open.

When I quit, the douche owner said I'd never amount to anything other than being a Walmart greeter. I should add, I was willing to put in two weeks before leaving, but Ryan told me he'd just consider that day my last day....AKA technically FIRED. He also refused to give me my last check. Well, he lost a fight with the labor board AND unenmployment, against me. He had an attorney, and I didn't, and was just a 21 year old kid at the time. These idiots FORGED a 1099 form supposedly filled out by me.....but my name was spelled wrong. How the hell would I spell my own name wrong? Had I thought faster, I would have gotten them for signature forgery. They also lied to the judge about what my job was, and even she knew they were full of it. A few years later, I was trying to get another trucking job (Walmart, eh?), and Ryan, the owner, LIED and said I had never worked there. Well, got the job, buddy. Now, I'm working an even better trucking job, 1500-2000 a WEEK. Much better than the measley, $9 an hour, under the table, with a forged 1099 you were paying me. These guys are CROOKED. I worked here for almost 2 years. STAY. AWAY.

The shower leaked so bad it was running from the walls so we didn't use these features as intended. Ryan's response was that per section 9c of the rental contract, he does not have to guarantee anything other than the vehicle itself works. Reading other reviews it seems he doesn't even do this. I wish I would have read the other reviews before giving him any kind of business. All of the negative reviews are not a conspiracy- it's a pattern of horrible customer service and business management. Avoid so you can have a pleasant trip. Edit- we contacted Cruise America Corporate and they were helpful and apologetic after learning of our interaction with the owner of this location. We will not be giving THIS location any more business and warning others to stay clear.

    A Truly Exceptional Experience at General RV in Huntley!…read more We recently brought our Grech Class B RV (Sprinter Van) in for a warranty repair and could not be more impressed with the outstanding service we received. From the moment we arrived, the entire team at General RV in Huntley went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. They were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating--every step of the process felt easy and stress-free. We were traveling with our three dogs, and not only did they allow us to keep them inside with us, but everyone there made a point to stop and say hello (and give some pets!). It truly felt like we were among family. We were even able to take important work calls thanks to the comfortable environment. And the little touches made a big difference--fresh-baked cookies, pizza, filled fresh water tanks, and even letting us stay overnight while waiting for parts to arrive. The facility itself is neat, clean, and welcoming. It's rare to find this level of hospitality and genuine care. We adore this location and will absolutely be back.     I purchased a Thor Palladium RV in June 2025 from General RV in Huntley, Illinois. This review…read moreconcerns both the quality of the product and the service provided by General RV and Thor Motor Coach. During its maiden voyage, the unit suffered a major failure while traveling 60 mph in the mountains of Tennessee. It failed again shortly afterward while traveling 35 mph in a subdivision. Despite the RV being under warranty, neither General RV nor Thor acted with urgency to address these serious safety and reliability issues. The RV was only towed to Indiana after the threat of legal action. It then sat for months with poor communication, little follow-up, and no meaningful customer support. After repairs were supposedly completed at the end of October, the RV was placed into storage for the winter. When brought out again in the spring, additional wiring and battery failures occurred, requiring yet another return for repairs. For anyone considering the purchase of an RV, carefully consider not only the product you are buying, but also the dealership standing behind it. In my experience, General RV was willing to sell the product, but far less willing to support it after the sale. I was repeatedly transferred between departments and individuals without resolution. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend either the product quality or the level of customer service provided by Thor or General RV.
