    Bill for having to have a door key made because General RV lost it.

    This was the worst experience I have had with an RV dealer in 25 years of RVing with 3 RVs. They would not answer calls, did not even start on my repairs until after I had to drive up there 1 week after it was due to be repaired, which was a month after I dropped it off. They overchareged me by putting a 1/2 hour extra on every item they were scheduled to do. I now have to fix 2 of the repairs they did my using too small lift cylinders on the lower doors. Finally they lost my only door keys and after giving them several days to find it, with no answer to my demand, I had to have a door key made. OMG this place, I have since found out is a joke, buyer beware.

    Here are more steaks that should not be here after a fresh wash. They are on the other side also.

    Do not I repeat do not but the ECP coating. This is snake oil and you will have to jump through hoops to try to get anything done about the exterior of your vehicle. Keep the money and take care of the exterior yourself. This will not stop black streaks and they will tell you to file a warranty. I guarantee they did not put a product on. When I called corporate to make a complaint they knew I was asking about the ECP before I could even mention it. So that tells me they get people calling and complaining about it all the time. Again they are turning into Camping World where they dont care about the customers. They only want to steal your money. I told them if they do not take care of this I will not be purchasing from General RV again. Their corporate customer care told me we hear that all the time.

    General RV Huntley IL sales department ranks BELOW Camping World. I have dealt with both now and WOW did General RV sales fail me. We first looked at our rig in April 2022 and there was RV antifreeze all over the floor. We were not ready to get it yet so we had to walk. In October of 2022 they still had the same unit. Should have been a red flag but we looked at it again. Same mess on the floor. Asked sales guy (Steve W.) about it. He said not to worry and all would be checked out. We worked out a deal and purchased it. When we picked it up all was cleaned up and we had a few other issues to resolve. One was a trim piece that was loose on the slide. He said they would get it fixed before we took delivery. They just pumped in a BUNCH of caulk and put a deep scratch in the paint below the slide. Total mess up. Now we open it up in spring and same mess on floor. Take it back in to fix the scratch they put in the fall (we are about 100 miles away and waited until we got it out of storage). Also found a leak in the water system shutoff valve to the ice maker. This was the source of the fluid and never got fixed. Now sales are telling me "we don't remember any of this" and that it is on me to fix. Steve takes all his notes on a small note pad and does NOT move them to the "official paperwork". So nothing was ever documented. My fault for taking him at his word. AND GUESS WHAT. I had to fix the problem myself and it was just a bad connection on the valve. Something that should have been covered under warranty but General RV would not even look at it. So overall I do NOT recommend buying anything from General RV. Oh and do NOT contact customercare@generalrv.com. They do NOT care.

    Run, don't walk from General RV in Huntley IL. We purchased a 2023 Tifton Phaeton in October 2022. Prior to a walk thru for delivery we had exterior detail work done to the coach. We arrived to to a walk thru prior to delivery about 2 weeks post purchase. At that time we were appalled at the long list of items that were damaged and broken. (Cracked stove top, windows that wouldn't close, wood work literally falling off, art work cracked, floor damage, dash damage...) At the price point we were working with, it casted a dark cloud over the experience. We arrived in our trade to do said walk thru with the intention of leaving in our new coach. After such a bad walk thru with zero care or concern, more importantly any type of apologies, we wanted to discuss our options for a different coach or cancellation until they could perfect the misses. At that point we were greeted with nothing but awful service and rude managers. It was no different than any other disappointment of other reviews. We were lied to. We were then threaded and told if we didn't take delivery and tried to leave in our own vehicle they "would call the state police" and "they've seen things go south real fast" as well as the comment that if we tried to take this to court "they are a bigger company and they will win and then we will have this bus and big bills" Shocked and disappointed is how we ended up leaving, in the rental car they ordered for us. A month and 1/2 later of staying in a hotel, we received a call saying our motor coach was completely finished. During this time of being without our coach, we called, emailed and tried checking in with various managers all to no avail. A month and 1/2. Also during this time our coach remained on their website as available for sale. Today is Tuesday, we picked up on Friday and drove home. Despite the long list of items that were supposed to be repaired, only 1/2 were addressed. We have a passenger window that looks like the living dead tried to claw through. We have a floor with scratches. We have electrical issues that caused our slide outs to go wonky- then doing major damage. We have no heat for diver and passenger. We noticed the later while driving home. Exhausted we decided to call the next day where we were told to "google it if you can't figure it out" The laundry list of disappointments is long. The coach as a product seems relatively decent. The handling with this particular outlet, worst ever, and this isn't our first rodeo. I can recommend an RV outlet along 55 south of Chicago. Or another in southern IL. I can not, however, tell you to do any type of business with General RV. They are slick, fast talking with zero results. They will take you for every dime and make sure you say thank you whilst doing so! Save the headaches and extra charges- go elsewhere.

Here were the top annoyances: Air Conditioning - Broke completely in the middle of our July trip, the mechanic said it was quite old and missing some screws. It wasn't possible to fix on the road, so we had no AC for 4 days. Sensors - Many of the key sensors were inaccurate. Ex: black tank level, water level. This proved very challenging for first time RVers like us, who didn't have a feel for how often to empty or refill tanks. Door - The screen door was missing a piece of plastic, which created a hole for bugs to come in and the door itself required a VERY hard closure to latch. My kids could rarely do it themselves. Awning - Not functional; directions in troubleshooting book didn't match type of awning on our RV. Generator - Shut off inexplicably a few times. Mattress - VERY old and worn. Electrical panel - Literally kept closed with duct tape and wouldn't stay closed. Easy to accidentally turn things off. Privacy curtain - Held back with duct tape. Easily knocked open.

Before you buy I suggest you watch the many youtube videos about Camping World sales tactics. One of the best is put out by Cheyenne Camping Center. By the way, we bought from Cheyenne in Walcott Iowa after walking out of a Camping World. I'm so glad we did. We saved thousands. Cheyenne is located right across from IOWA 80 the World's largest truck stop. It's a great place to visit, to rest, to shop and to dine. If you go to Cheyenne to look at RVs, be sure to ask for Kurt Schreiner. Also Cheyenne puts out a great RV orientation youtube video by Dave, one of their many top notch service people

    This company sold us a seriously damaged camper. Not only…read moredid the price spike by $10k once we arrived (they knew we were driving from Sc, a 16+ hour long drive) to get the camper we had on hold, which I guess they knew after the long drive we'd feel obligated to take home. But it also had a 4x6 rot of water damage under the slide out, they knew being first time buyers we wouldn't get on our hands and knees to check this - they then accidentally slipped up and told us the internal order stating that they'd seen this damage prior to selling to us but disregarded it then sold it to us without mention it. Illegal. Also the insurance they provide you through Assurant will not take care of the damages and is charging us $4k + and NOT EVEN COVERING THE PAYMENTS WE'VE MADE for the past several months they've had it in the shop. Assurant is also considered one of the worst insurance companies you can possibly ever get! So that was fun to find out. OH and the service manager in Charleston SC where we are located has been caught lying to us several times. (I've documented everything and recorded every phone call) He actually forgot our camper was with them from December to February and let it sit in the freeze without winterizing it. We are heartbroken as we of course cannot afford any of this and will definitely make it known in any way possible that this company is CORRUPT and full of liars. In my opinion, you're better off going to a mom and pops Rv shop, any other local place or just buying from somebody personally near you. Avoid this place at all costs.
