So I cannot "unfeel" what was felt towards the specific individuals at this location, at that moment, the experience was what it was. I can however say that I was impressed by the upper leadership at camping world . Immediately upon posting the review I was contacted by leadership for details . I did NOT tell them that I was currently in negotiations with a different Camping World location. I was NOT trying to play the "leverage game" and wanted the results to be the result of good (or bad) business practices. It wasn't 24 hours later before I was contacted , apologized to, and informed everything was being "made right". Camping World (as large as they are) still cares about business. I can appreciate that. I do appreciate that. I have since completed the purchase of a new RV and cannot wait to get out on the road this spring . His earlier assurance that "we will take care of you" if anything went wrong has proven remarkably hollow. Towing to an authorized dealer is prohibitively expensive, and we were essentially told we were on our own. They will give you a high offer over the phone then conduct a "Courtesy Inspection", nitpick every single little flaw or perceived flaw (like these aren't used and parked outside year round) then come back with an other offer thousands lower, blaming it on the condition. Very happy with the camper unit and it ends there. On the day we purchased they had us walk around the store with a accessory salesperson. In about 10 minutes he had tried to sell about an extra $2500.00 in accessories which we politely declined. We have friends who had been campers for awhile and showed us where to buy the things that Camping World staff wanted and told us we needed. We purchased the same items some of which were the same manufacturer for about 1/3 of Camping Worlds price. Nationwide, the Camping World sales culture is ingrained in all locations through their uniform training. They are trained to be overly aggressive, to try to upsell overpriced add-ons and to take advantage of first time buyers who are unfamiliar with the RV life. Before you buy I suggest you watch the many youtube videos about Camping World sales tactics. One of the best is put out by Cheyenne Camping Center. By the way, we bought from Cheyenne in Walcott Iowa after walking out of a Camping World. I'm so glad we did. We saved thousands. Cheyenne is located right across from IOWA 80 the World's largest truck stop. It's a great place to visit, to rest, to shop and to dine. This company sold us a seriously damaged camper. Not only did the price spike by $10k once we arrived (they knew we were driving from Sc, a 16+ hour long drive) to get the camper we had on hold, which I guess they knew after the long drive we'd feel obligated to take home. But it also had a 4x6 rot of water damage under the slide out, they knew being first time buyers we wouldn't get on our hands and knees to check this - they then accidentally slipped up and told us the internal order stating that they'd seen this damage prior to selling to us but disregarded it then sold it to us without mention it. Illegal. Also the insurance they provide you through Assurant will not take care of the damages and is charging us $4k + and NOT EVEN COVERING THE PAYMENTS WE'VE MADE for the past several months they've had it in the shop. Assurant is also considered one of the worst insurance companies you can possibly ever get! So that was fun to find out. OH and the service manager in Charleston SC where we are located has been caught lying to us several times. (I've documented everything and recorded every phone call) He actually forgot our camper was with them from December to February and let it sit in the freeze without winterizing it. We are heartbroken as we of course cannot afford any of this and will definitely make it known in any way possible that this company is CORRUPT and full of liars. My wife and I went to camping world to look for a small trailer. The service person was nice and took us out in to their lot and showed us 4 different units . After seeing each unit two times , my wife and I made a decision on which unit we were going to buy. We went into the sales office and told the sales person which unit we wanted and that we wanted the sturdy step added to the unit that we saw on the other units and if they would do that we had a deal. The sales person said she understood and left to take it to there boss. After waiting at least 20 minutes she cam back in saying that they would have to measure the door opening. then told us that it was a camping world policy that we have to have insurance on it before leaving their Lott , put a peace of paper down in front of us with an insurance company I have never heard of and called a number and handed me the phone. I explained to the person on the phone that I have never heard of his carrier but he proceeded to ask me questions which I told him I was not going to answer and hung up the phone. After waiting another 15 minutes the sales person came back in saying some one was measuring the door for the step we wanted. I. Reminded the sales person that we were going to pay for the. Trailer in full when picking up and since at that time I would legally own it and that if I wanted insurance. On it that I would call my agent and go through them. I was then told it was a camping world policy and that it had to be followed . The person then went to the her bosses office saying she was going to check on the progress of my request. After waiting another 15 minutes my wife and I got up and went to the office and asked for my card back and left. Twice, two rounds, I attempted to be a customer by B2B. Their website is coded wrong and you cannot connect to the right location. After I wasted an afternoon, and was asked why I was flooding one locations inbox, I tried again. The second time I made sure to contact the correct 'camping world' by pre-selecting the location and contacting them directly through the website. They have it setup that even when you email the location, if the home location isn't set, they do not contact the correct location. I adjusted homebase each time and guess what. If you are in the market to buy or sell your camper - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! 11 years ago we bought our 2nd camper from them and it was alright. But 5 campers later we went to sell ours thought we had a legit quote, signed papers, gave the title over but got an e-mail on Monday saying that wasn't the correct price and they still needed to look at something else. Heard nothing for 5 days then another e-mail saying sorry but it will now be $2700 less then the signed papers. And they had our camper up for sale on their website for over double the price without giving us a check. We traded in our trailer for a new one last year, we purchased the good warranty and were told that the service department would be able to fix any issues promptly. We dropped our trailer off April 1st. We told them that we would need it back by May 11th. They said it would be done by then. Now my husband has been back and forth trying to get a timeline and updates. We have been flat out lied to. More than once. Not sure why the service department has issues with honesty but today they went a step further and said that our trailer "is in pieces and won't be finished today", since my husband is an engineer for 21 years (Active Duty Military) we know that shouldn't require a bunch of pieces. Had a bad experience last year buying from a private seller, whom sold my husband and I a camper with massive water damage. Learned a hard lesson, and ended up gutting/rehabbing the whole camper, thankfully we were able to sell it for a profit and decided to buy a newer camper. Found a 2011 DUTCHMEN DUTCHMEN 286BHGS listed for 13,999 and called and set up a date of 04/21/21 to see it. Received a call back from Sales person Dana, who stated the unit was getting alot of interest and we should secure it with a deposit. We went ahead and did that and she continued to state the unit was in great condition for the age minus the canopy which the replacement had already been ordered.(no biggie) We secured financing and insurance prior to going to see the camper as we were told it was perfect. We went there on 04/21/21 and were amazed, but we were being cautious as we'd been burned before. after thorough inspection we found the problem. There was water damage to the slide on the bottom right hand corner and the top right hand corner. The wood inside was going soft and it was wet to the touch despite it being stored inside. We were really upset as we had driven more than an hour and done all the work to get this secured and ready to go. Dana advised they would have to speak to service and let us know if it was something they could fix. Today, I got a call from financing, i advised the gentleman I was confused as I had already secured financing and I was waiting to her about the water damage(points off for not even knowing what's going on). Then a few hours later the Service manager calls me. The unit is older and the water damage is old and was already sealed. not worth it to replace the wood inside as its almost a $4,000 fix. They have a 3rd party who does their inspections on trade ins... apparently they dropped the ball.... Which is in my book bull. They knowingly took a trade in which looked nice and tried to sell it with the water damage. they refunded me my deposit and now have it re-listed at the same price. Basically if we hadn't been thorough we would've been screwed... funny thing is a family member had a bad experience there a few years ago and told us to steer clear. guess he was right. Took it to Camping World and the gal who is our "service tech" - tried to say it seemed fine to her when we went to pick it up, but it wasn't at all !! It wasn't blowing cold air or hot air, but she tried to say that's how they work and it takes time to send the cold air. Truly insulted at that remark ... we are not ignorant to how a camper air conditioner works. So, the brand new camper is still there and now, after a week sitting there, we called them (they didn't call us) and they confirmed the air doesn't work ... but, despite this being a new camper, it's day 4 now since realizing the air really is broken, and our service tech says she is still waiting for approval from the warranty folks on the NEW and unused 2024 camper !!! I purchased a camper from here back in February of 2024, brought it home, sat in my driveway for 4-5 months, we went on our first trip and it had extreme amounts of water damage in the slide out, the trailer brake was broken, and the grey tank release valve was broken off, so far my extended warranty says it will cover the trailer brake and the grey tank release valve, however the most expensive thing to fix is the slide out. Which led me to do some digging, this camping world had an internal work order when they received the camper as a trade in. The work order states that the drivers side compartment door had water damage and was swollen and wet, the work order states that it was not repaired and they decided to sell it to me anyway without disclosing this damage, they could have found the leak but decided it was not their problem and they would make it someone else's. Save yourself some money and do not support this place as when your camper has a problem, they will refuse to help. read more

UPDATE: Camping World has come through and have now fixed the issue. I appreciate Tyler's assistance and fixing my issue as well as their service guy Mike who came to my camper and replaced the toilets. They are both working great now. I never like to leave bad reviews for a company, especially during these times, I am glad we were able to get things fixed. I have updated my stars based upon them fixing my problem. This location is absolutely terrible and it's my fault I let them screw me over AGAIN!! Yes, sadly again. After having some issues getting service done on my previous camper I gave them the benefit of the doubt and UPGRADED to a Sierra 5th Wheel after believing them that things would be different. Well, I'm an idiot for believing them again. My new camper got delivered to my campground and I met them there at delivery. After putting things away in my camper after a couple hours I notice my toilets were filling up with water and one of them had a leak. I contacted my sales rep Mike and another employee, Dave, IMMEDIATELY. I was apologized to and said it would be looked into. I've been given the run around from everyone there since. Dave has truly tried to help but none of the others have helped at all. This includes Mike my sales rep, Tyler in Service, Jonathon in financing AND even the General Manager Josh Smith who gave me the "I'll help resolve this" speech but has yet to respond or assist since our first discussion. I have to babysit my toilets to make sure I don't have water everywhere!!! ALL DAY & NIGHT!! This is ridiculous. THIS IS NOW ALMOST 3 WEEKS!!! This company is all smiles as you sign your paperwork but doesn't give a crap about you once you sign the paperwork. I should NOT be responsible for fixing this in any way nor bringing my camper back to them to look at the issue. This was noticed and reported just hours after receiving my camper. Camping World (Wauconda) I made an appointment to look at a specific camper I found online that was sitting on the lot. I spoke to a very nice salesman, Colton, and made an appointment to see the trailer. Colton was knowledgeable and helpful when I was on the lot. Once it came down to purchasing, the salesmanager, Chris, stepped in and said there was a mistake with online pricing and that there were others interested. He then raised the price $3g. He was abrasive and demeaning in his communication. He was unwilling to do anything to make his mistake right and this situation was a bait and switch (or maybe bait and inflate would be a better summary) Camping World had many opportunities to communicate proper pricing before this point if it was truly a mistake in the online price but failed to do so. We were also extremely motivated buyers, understanding of simple mistakes and willing to pay more than the online price within reason but there were no attempts to maintain the sale and the manager was caught in multiple lies regarding the nature of the sale and price increase. At the point that we began realizing the lies, we decided we couldn't give our business to Camping World worried that there would be future issues dealing with a business with such poor sales integrity. I'm so incredibly disappointed in this interaction and with the waste of my time. I will not return to Camping World and would warn others. Unresponsive. Attempted to sell me a new RV travel trailer requiring warranty work for water damage to front window before I even assumed delivery. Passed on that. Somehow, magically could give me a 2023 same model same price. Accepted delivery and now has a huge leak in the same area (front window). Got a relatively chilly not my job brush off from my salesman, Tim McCloyn and that he could maybe escalate issue but no service writers were in and I needed to contact the office literally steps away from his. At this point, made my intention for a full revocation of sale known and possibly seek legal counsel on what my options were which he then terminated conversations when I voiced this right. When service (George) *did* get in touch with me, call back number bounced to an away message every time to call corporate. Did so and got a resolution management case number and a "someone with a 303 area code will call" from Julie. No one called (granted, this is a weekend, but they surely don't stop selling on weekends because they're open and selling RVs and RV accessories). I phoned back today and spoke with Mary Kay and she had me leave a message directly on resolution voice mail. Still haven't heard back. This is a non-patent window that leaks into my *bed* when it rains. No service available on weekends to even assess problem. Addendum: Response from "owner" to this Yelp review is the only response I have received. Left multiple voice mails for Jennifer and Theresa in corporate with no responses now almost a week since reporting the issue. Have spoken to Louella, Mary Kay, Angie and Julie to leave messages that are never returned. Have filed complaints with the BBB and IL State Attorney General's Office under advice from general counsel. I put a credit card deposit on a camper & changed my mind about the purchase. This business refused to release the deposit for weeks. I had to complain to the credit card bank before they would release the hold. They were very dishonest about what they were doing & purposely difficult about releasing the funds. My buying experience at CW was awesome. Bob Sheahan is a no-pressure salesman. He was very patient with showing me different RVs and a pleasure to shoot the breeze with all the while. Never did I feel like he was anxious to close the deal and so I felt very comfortable coming back to him. It's also a plus that he is an RVer himself so he fully knows what he's talking about. I wasn't thrilled with my service experience until Rob took over. The first guy was not great about following up and I got sold something that was not a replacement for the thing they didn't have that I initially put down money for. Rob has been great about following up with me on my trailer. He, and especially mechanic Troy, were super helpful with getting my weight distribution hitch set up correctly so I could confidently hit the road. read more

I feel like camping world is paying google for positive reviews...yelp reviews are more accurate, here is my google review: My family and I went to Camping world Wauconda for our first RV purchase to buy a 2021 Rockwood Freedom. Very poor service and little communication between any of the employees/departments at the Wauconda location. We ended up waiting an hour when we got there for someone from Finance to talk to when we finally were told that you speak to finance after a tour of the vehicle. Then after the tour and sitting down with finance, we were told our camper was being prepared for us to take it home. Waiting 45 min later the gentleman, I believe mark was his name mentioned that the front office told him the camper was to be delivered! After that he said he would quickly prepare it in the back for us to pick up. We went to pick it up and the associate helping us put on the plates and was going to leave, i had to stop and ask about the keys and information...he went and checked and said the keys were in the fridge which was basically inaccessible. I connected the trailer myself and drove off a frustrated customer.... I called the Marcus Lemonis hotline to express my issues and concerns and the lady who contacted me later brushed off my concerns and told me to go to a different camping world in the future. They made no effort to satisfy my issues. I will be telling everyone I know camping about this experience. read more

Tim the sales person at Ext 1234 Best way to describe him is a arrogant pushy salesman who just talked to me but because I wouldn't give him a $500 credit card deposit I'm just "a voice on the other end of the phone not a serious buyer" funny cause I'm buying a camper tomorrow not sure where and my budget is $20,000 cash out the door or less. But I guess Camping World doesn't like cash in hand buyers because we don't need credit approval. read more

Bought our camper from camping world about a year ago. They were over-the-top friendly and helpful when we were in the buying process and did everything they could to make sure we were happy. The minute the papers were signed it was a whole different story. We noticed things during the walk-through of the purchase that needed to be repaired or replaced. They said they would gladly fix everything but to take it for the rest of the season and have everything repaired over winter. We dropped our camper off in October and didn't see it again until memorial day weekend. We attempted once to pick it up and take it somewhere else because of the terrible service, and were told by the other repair company they couldn't fix any of the problems that camping world created. We have large gaps in our trim because they bent it back (to replace buckling diamond plate) and decided it was a good idea to fill it in with clear silicone. There are two pages worth of problems on our brand new camper. How are we supposed to enjoy it or ever even sell this to someone else when it's in this condition? Camping world is really great about giving you the runaround and blaming everything on the manufacturer or delayed parts. I have never been more angry and disappointed that I've spent my hard earned money on something that camping world could care less about. We even went as far as getting the manufacturer involved to ensure that the camper would be ready by Memorial Day weekend. It looks the exact same as when we were there in April pointing out all the same problems it had then. Save yourself the time, the money, and the stress and go somewhere else. read more
