Update: 5/27/21 Tyler in the service department came through for us. No hostility, no excuse. He explained the work and was apologetic for the other team members actions. We were surprised and grateful that he came in early and helped get us our trailer right away. Tyler's the reason I changed my review and added 2 stars. Thank you to the store and especially Tyler. We traded in our trailer for a new one last year, we purchased the good warranty and were told that the service department would be able to fix any issues promptly. We dropped our trailer off April 1st. We told them that we would need it back by May 11th. They said it would be done by then. Now my husband has been back and forth trying to get a timeline and updates. We have been flat out lied to. More than once. Not sure why the service department has issues with honesty but today they went a step further and said that our trailer "is in pieces and won't be finished today", since my husband is an engineer for 21 years (Active Duty Military) we know that shouldn't require a bunch of pieces. Almost 2 months for this repair! I hope this gets resolved tomorrow so we don't have to cancel more plans! My husbands review is better detailed

A Truly Exceptional Experience at General RV in Huntley!…read more We recently brought our Grech Class B RV (Sprinter Van) in for a warranty repair and could not be more impressed with the outstanding service we received. From the moment we arrived, the entire team at General RV in Huntley went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. They were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating--every step of the process felt easy and stress-free. We were traveling with our three dogs, and not only did they allow us to keep them inside with us, but everyone there made a point to stop and say hello (and give some pets!). It truly felt like we were among family. We were even able to take important work calls thanks to the comfortable environment. And the little touches made a big difference--fresh-baked cookies, pizza, filled fresh water tanks, and even letting us stay overnight while waiting for parts to arrive. The facility itself is neat, clean, and welcoming. It's rare to find this level of hospitality and genuine care. We adore this location and will absolutely be back. I purchased a Thor Palladium RV in June 2025 from General RV in Huntley, Illinois. During its maiden voyage, the unit suffered a major failure while traveling 60 mph in the mountains of Tennessee. It failed again shortly afterward while traveling 35 mph in a subdivision. Despite the RV being under warranty, neither General RV nor Thor acted with urgency to address these serious safety and reliability issues. The RV was only towed to Indiana after the threat of legal action. It then sat for months with poor communication, little follow-up, and no meaningful customer support. After repairs were supposedly completed at the end of October, the RV was placed into storage for the winter. When brought out again in the spring, additional wiring and battery failures occurred, requiring yet another return for repairs. For anyone considering the purchase of an RV, carefully consider not only the product you are buying, but also the dealership standing behind it. In my experience, General RV was willing to sell the product, but far less willing to support it after the sale. I was repeatedly transferred between departments and individuals without resolution. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend either the product quality or the level of customer service provided by Thor or General RV.

Service only: in the last year, 83RV has lost a large number of their service technicians and…read moreservice manager. Prior to this unfortunate set of events they were top notch. Now communication and service is unreliable and terrible. On three separate occasions in 2025 I made appointments for service on my Coachman Galleria, only to learn they 1) forgot the appointments were reserved 2) kept the van for over three weeks without even looking at it, nor communicating with me the challenges they faced. In one case they made some repairs to the awning motor/ sensor which kept opening on its own. Less than a month later we find the problem has returned and they 1) still don't know what is broken/wrong 2) proposed charging me $600 a second time - even though the first solution didn't solve the problem. I can understand why service manager Brett, seems overwhelmed. But he simply does not communicate and provides flippant answers that are unconvincing or not fact based. Until they improve staffing, I recommend you stay clear of the service department.

Bob was very easy to talk with and truly cared about our questions . He answered all of our questions with. A smile on his face which help us feel more confident and comfortable picking out the unit we purchased. We agreed on a time and a date to pick up our new trailer and went through a 3 hour orientation with a another person who was also very nice and answer all of questions with a smile on his face I like to think that we have have made a friend with Bob at 83RV . I would highly recommend stopping buy to look at what they have available, knowing that they will treat you politely and not push anything to you , you do not want or need.

Here were the top annoyances: Air Conditioning - Broke completely in the middle of our July trip, the mechanic said it was quite old and missing some screws. It wasn't possible to fix on the road, so we had no AC for 4 days. Sensors - Many of the key sensors were inaccurate. Ex: black tank level, water level. This proved very challenging for first time RVers like us, who didn't have a feel for how often to empty or refill tanks. Door - The screen door was missing a piece of plastic, which created a hole for bugs to come in and the door itself required a VERY hard closure to latch. My kids could rarely do it themselves. Awning - Not functional; directions in troubleshooting book didn't match type of awning on our RV. Generator - Shut off inexplicably a few times. Mattress - VERY old and worn. Electrical panel - Literally kept closed with duct tape and wouldn't stay closed. Easy to accidentally turn things off. Privacy curtain - Held back with duct tape. Easily knocked open.
