Great place and very trustworthy. Trying to think if they should get a series on Road . Honest , great service . They need to be elevated . However , does that mean when they get really busy I can't get my car serviced . I'm lol and I know everyone gets the best read more

My mom is who told me about Ron's. She brought her car in for brakes years ago. Rick called and said she didn't need brakes. Once I heard that, I knew this is the place to bring my car. Since then I have brought my car to Ron's. They are fair and get the job done! Give them a shot, you won't regret it! read more

Stand up guy Rick is. I fix my own cars but come here when I can't or if fix may be too tough for me as I don't have a lift.

Great local place for your vehicle repairs and tune ups. Tired of over priced repairs at the dealership? So were we and that's why we now bring our vehicles to Ron's Service. Call ahead in case they are busy. Otherwise, they will tell you to drop off first thing in the morning and pick up by 12noon. Great idea. Don't mind if I do. This is a no frills business. No waiting area. No tv. No popcorn. You get the idea. But they DO an excellent job on vehicle repairs, oil changes. They do the work honestly and at a reasonable price. Every time. Our only regret is that we've only been using this service for a couple years. We should have come sooner. #ThankYouThursday2021 read more

After seeing some great reviews I decided being in my car for service. I needed to get the brakes replaced as they were ready to be replaced. I called and made an appointment and drop off the car first thing in the morning. It was a smooth process overall. They called me early afternoon to give me the quote on the repair and was completed by about 4pm. Overall we were happy with the service. I think it was fair pricing but never got other quotes. I did take off a star since they were not complying with covid guidance to wear masks. It kind of petty to some but was important to me since I have health concerns. I would recommend them since at the end of the day the did a job. read more

This business is awesome! It was recommended to us by friends many years ago. Rick is always personable. The work they do is great and the price is right. Local family business too! read more

Ron did an amazing job with my car - was able to get items fixed with a lower cost than I was quoted at the dealership and had it done the same day! read more

Solid repairs and honest local shop. Rick is a man of his word. Usually in and out 1-2 days depending on repair.

There are few things in life that we probably hate to spend money on as much as auto repairs. We spend thousands of dollars to purchase an automobile, and having to spend thousands of dollars more to keep fixing the automobile feels like an injustice. I came to Ron's because I had a headlight bulb that was out I called another competitor who quoted me a price ~$275. Ron's quoted me a price significantly less than that amount. I brought the car to them and they were able to fix it same day. When I went to pick up the car I asked about the price, he told me they had to remove the front bumper which took more time; But then he added, it's a headlight bulb, it shouldn't cost hundreds of dollars. As a result I spent less than $150 on the repair. Finding that honest mechanic who will fix your car but not take you to the cleaners is a rare find. You can be assured that I will be back for our future needs. read more

Absolutely hands-down the best and most ethical mechanic I've ever encountered. My only regret is that it took me 50 years to find him. read more

Rons Service - Rick, a God Amongst Men - Auto Repair Near Me - Crystal Lake, Illinois

Owner Rick is very, very honest and fair. There is no one else I care to trust my car to.

my wife's car needed a new engine, surprising since it only had 45,000 miles on it and was regularly serviced. Rick was awesome, great communication and had the car back in a week. price was fair, service was outstanding. i will definitely go back in the future and recommend them to family and friends. Appreciated the fact they Rick spent some extra time up front to find out owjat happened to cause the failure. As you can imagine, it was a large bill for the job, but felt like I got a fair deal. read more

terrible on the phone so never even scheduled the work. I asked where they buy their parts and the response was they didn't need to talk about it and didn't want to do my work. Just wanted to know if they would be original manufacturer or some aftermarket. read more

In Huntley, Illinois from Quebec Canada. We needed to get a front end alignment on our vehicle. We were referred to Ron's Automotive in Crystal Lake, Illinois. At the time of our arrival, the garage was busy. However, we got an appointment within 3 hours our vehicle was getting an alignment. Our total experience with Ron's Automotive was friendly, successful and reasonably priced, even with the exchange rate from Canadian to American money. We are content, the vehicle is satisfied, no more problems. We can continue driving with a peace of mind. So should anyone need repairs to their vehicle. We highly recommend you go to Ron's Automotive in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The service was impeccable. Thank you. read more

Left rear directional light went out, replaced bulb with a new one but it still didn't work. Took to Rons Service and left it for him to diagnose. Called back and said new bulb I put in was bad. He put in a new bulb and it worked. Didn't charge me anything. Local trustworthy, friendly, just the kind of place to take your cars. Been a loyal customer elsewhere for years. They've decided we aren't worth listening to or helping without forcing us to shell out more than anyone else charges and doing it with an attitude like I'm a bother to have to talk to. Went to rons and worked with rick. Helped us quickly and easier than the other place I wish I could name but won't. He actually listened which kinda helps when trying to understand a problem. I'll be coming here for everything I can. read more

I was extremely happy with Ron's. My family had gone to the same mechanic for over 20 years when he finally retired, and we were apprehensive about finding a new one. Ron's was great though. Very straight forward about what needed to be fixed right now and what could wait, pricing was very fair, and I got my car back quickly. Extremely happy with the service here. read more

My wife and I moved here 2 years ago. Now retired, we were originally from Detroit and I owned an independant auto repair shop for 30 years. You might imagine I was fussy about who I took our 2 cars to for service when needed, so I began scouting around and looking for referrals from neighbors. I'm happy to say I found the right shop in Ron's Service. Initially I looked for a neat, clean place, adequate equipment, straight talk and most of all, the owner on the premises. Ron is semi-retired now and does the towing for son Rick who now runs the shop. I've always been treated fair and honestly and not just because I used to be in the business, but I've seen how other customers are handled. They keep their promises, their work is great, they know what they're doing and will go out of their way to help. I would highly recommend Ron's Service. read more

Been going here since I've been driving (about 9 years.) I take my car here when I'm too busy or don't have the drive (pun not intended...) to do the work myself. I generally don't trust shops enough to leave my car there without me being there, but I make a huge exception here. Both of the owners (Ron and his son, Rick) are very knowledgeable, honest, and do great work. They will tell when something can wait to be fixed...you don't find that too often with most mechanics. Their diagnostic work is also very good, as well. I had some engine issues that no one else could figure out. I took my car here and it ran great by the end of the day. The pricing is also very fair...on par with most other places in the area. FYI, the place is very, very busy. They have a lot of bays and technicians on staff, but unless you make an appointment or something, you can probably expect not to have your car for a few hours. The way I look at it, though, is that they always fix it right the first time and you won't waste any of your time with a misdiagnosed problem or sub-par work. Nothing is more frustrating than taking your car to a shop to be fixed and the problem not being corrected...this doesn't happen here. These guys have been in business for 30 years...they know their stuff. I wholeheartedly recommend this shop. read more

Very busy time and they were able to fit me in to get grinding brakes done. Polite and professional

The team at Ron's is the best. Honest, knowledgeable, flexible and on time. I recommend them every chance I get

I wish the scoring system could go up to 10 stars and if that were the case, I would still give 11. It is not as if I have been sitting here trying to find something wrong with Rons Services, but if I have been, there is not one thing I could come up with. They were able to diagnose my problem and fix it immediately, they understand having a budget and sticking to the estimate, and the mechanics stand behind their work. Rons is such an honest place you never need a second opinion. One walks into Rons understanding that they are already getting the fairest/lowest/most accommodating price that is offered in Mchenry County and maybe even the state. I will never go anywhere else. The level of integrity this shop has and the helpfulness of the staff that it's no wonder they have thrived in this community and will continue to flourish for years to come. Absolutely fantastic. read more

Great service and communication by Rick regarding some emissions work I had done on my 328i. Car was diagnosed, re-set and then taken over to the emissions station where it passed. And the price was way less than I had expected-only charged the standard diagnosis fee. I guess if I had anything further to say it would be that they weren't able to get to my car for a week, but hey, a busy shop is a good sign, and the patience paid off. In the future I would probably call ahead, but I wasn't really in a hurry. Nice job, guys. Thanks. read more

I haven't personally been going to rons for very long, only about a year or so. However, my in-laws have been coming here for over a decade. Always have gotten great service and quality work. Seems like they always try to fit anything into their schedule for me. My wife and I went to pick up my truck from getting some routine maintenance done and my wife's blinker and taillight was out. They changed it on the spot with no charge at all. Excellent customer service. Zero complaints all around. read more

Great repair shop. Honest, fast and will fit you in on short notice and give you a ride!

I have been fortunate to have a company car the last 20yrs. Recently I took another position in the company that was more $, but no car. So I was looking for a car that was only a few years old. I called around for someone to inspect a vehicle before I bought it. Everywhere I called wanted $99 and couldn't take me for a week. If I'm buying a car I can't wait a week for someone to look at it, ridiculous. Some of my neighbors use Ron's service and they swear by them. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a car yesterday, so I called Ron's. Rick said he could do it for $30 and he also told me that they were booked solid but would squeeze me in; in between jobs, just come in when I was ready. I get there about 2pm, the place is bustling with customers coming and either picking up their car or dropping it off, all the while the phone is ringing off the hook and Rick cool as a cucumber answers every call. After about 40mins, Rick got my car up in the air and looked it over himself. 10mins later he calls me into the garage to see for my self, it's clean with no visible issues and all the fluids looked good as well. I was out in a matter of minutes to bring it home to show my wife. The only thing that Rick didn't do was take it for a drive around the block, which I know most places would do. HOWEVER, they were very busy and had already drove it a few miles from the dealership with the radio off and didn't hear anything weird and it handled well. I know he would have taken it out if I had mentioned anything about how it drove. Special kudos to Ron, Rick's dad for running a business that is trustworthy, dependable and won't rip you off. read more

I finally have found a mechanic that I trust! Thanks Ron's. They took care of my car and didn't try to BS me into buying anything I didn't need. Rick was the guy that helped me out here. We have used Ron's for over 20 years, first back when they were also a gas station.
