Set up a 10am appointment for an oil change five days in advance, enabled text messaging for updates, and agreed to leave the vehicle with Teson until the service was complete. Five hours after leaving the vehicle I had not received any status and called them. The oil change was not complete. This meant I had to leave the vehicle overnight. The following day I still had no status update from Teson. I called them 28-hours after leaving the vehicle and it turns out the oil change had been completed and I could pick up my car. Why have customers set an appointment and provide cell phone numbers for text messages if the work isn't going to be done in a timely fashion and no status updates are going to be provided? I will not patronize this business again. read more

Chris walked me through everything that needed to be done to my vehicle and what didn't. A local ford dealership tried to get me to do a procedure and Chris and his crew thoroughly checked and told me it didn't need to be done saving me $250. They checked everything and informed me before any work was done on exactly how much and what needs fixed. So I made an appointment with Chris and Dan and they changed the oil, checked the tires, inspected the engine, and made recommendations without the usual 10 point inspection bill that one gets at the dealership. No high pressure to do this or that ... like you get at the other shops. They simply noted what needed to be fixed, gave me a quote, and I was on my way with an appointment to fix all at a fair and reasonable price. This place sold my girlfriend a new battery and the one she had was fairly new. That didn't fix the problem. We wound talking the car some where else to have it diagnosed. I changed the sensor and spark plugs and boots. The also broke the lower front bumper on there lift I assume. I do not remind this repair place for any thing! I had a nice old car that was showing its age, but I needed it to last just a biiiit longer. And back in late '07, the brakes were shot. I mean down to the metal horrible scraping noises shot. And we didn't have a ton of money to fix 'em. So I called around, hoping I could find a place that wouldn't rip me off. Teson fit the bill. They charged a fair price and got the work done quickly. I had to wait for my car, since it was my only way to get anywhere and there's just nothing around Teson to go wait at. And waiting was about as pleasant as it can be at a small place like that. The guy behind the counter was pleasant, the service tech updated me every so often, and they have the most adorable little dog, who slept on my lap for awhile. I would totally go back to Teson for all of my oil changes and routine maintenance now that I have a much better, newer car -- only problem is we don't live in McHenry County anymore. But I wholeheartedly recommend them. (And stay away from the Merlin on Sandbloom -- they're overpriced and prone to making mistakes.) read more

If they tell you something needs some attention, you can trust that they are being honest. They offer options to meet pricing concerns if the work is major, and they tell you what is urgent and what can wait a little bit longer and it isn't an upsell! They are great at communicating what is happening with your vehicle so you aren't left wondering where you stand. The detail in the invoicing and the checkpoint sheet they provide on your vehicle at pick up are second to none. Honestly we wouldn't trust anyone else with our vehicles. I've had Teson repairing my vehicles for years. Always excellent service and very accommodating great people to do business with. Anytime I have a problem they are quick to make it right without replacing anything that doesn't need to be. They have never tried to upsale me on anything I don't need or want. I've been to other shops and have gotten the whole upsale during the oil change. Well your car needs brakes, alignment, so on and so on. When little did they know I had that work done 10,000 miles before they said I needed it. So in short for honest people and great service this is the place to be! read more

I have never been to an auto repair shop this excellent before. They explained everything that needed to be done and the price was very reasonable. They looked over the whole vehicle and made sure everything was in order. They topped off the coolant and even zip tied the coolant reservoir which had broken off due to a rusted screw. car broke down and had it towed to Teson - first time using, they contacted me promptly when they opened to ask about the car and said they would call back after review. When they called back they explained what was wrong and also review of car good & possible needs. Looked like it was going to be an extra day to get car back, however, they called later and said they would have ready and waiting in the lot for pick-up.
