Going to a mechanic is a little nerve wrecking for me. I am always concerned since I am not fluent in anything that has to do with cars. 7/22/25 I had several issues that needed to be addressed on my 2000 Toyota Camry, but after their mechanic unnecessarily removed a 5lb lower metal splash shield by breaking off all the bolts & then reattaching the shield with plastic zip ties, that was enough for me. As anybody knows, one trip down Dundee Ave could have easily caused it to break loose & cause damage. There was absolutely NO reason to remove that splash shield to access the oil filter as was the excuse I was given, which by the way, was inaccessible from underneath. At this point I decided to cut my losses and cancel the remaining repairs, especially after still being charged for the oil change. It may be a beater with a lot of miles and some rust, but it's my beater and I depend on it to get me to and from work everyday, I've managed to accumulate 228,000 + miles by staying away from mechanics like this. In their defense, K&S Automotive has worked on my other vehicles in the past without any issues. In my opinion, this particular mechanic needs to be re-educated or removed. read more

A replacement timing chain is no small repair. I did my research on the top-rated auto repair shops in Elgin and St. Charles. Visited all the shops in person to request a quote. The estimates ranged from $5,800 to the average of $3,100. When I walked into KS Autocare, Sam just seemed genuine. We brought the car in for the mechanic to look it over before a good estimate could be completed. Even though the amount was a few hundred dollars higher than the average, Sam stated that our 14-year-old Camaro was still in such good condition that original GM parts should be used - not the cheap aftermarket stuff. I was sold at that point that we selected the best shop to perform our repair. The job was completed a full day ahead of schedule and a little less than the estimate. Took my 2017 Honda Accord in for brake service at 41,000 miles. They got me in quickly and were very courteous knowledgeable and efficient. Clean and no junk lying around. Later when I talked to them on the phone good news! My vehicle didn't need any brake work done! They even checked my fluids, tire pressure ,battery, radiator fluid and oil. Even gave me a printout of what they did. I got the feeling that this place is not not giving me the B.S. Made me me feel good about this place! I've had other places try to do work that my vehicles didn't need. Finally found an auto repair business I can trust! This now is my auto repair and service company . If it changes I'll let you know. Went in there with coupon for synthetic oil change at $54.95, but Ks said I needed extra qt and with fees and taxes came out to over $78. Also, Ks said I needed both cabin and engine filter replaced and the quote for both was over $120. ( too expensive) Thirdly, I asked ks to check the rear license plate bulb which was out and let me know what was the exact problem. They never got back to me. I will never return to this shop. read more

Great costumer service. I called to make an appointment for an oil change and the owner asked if I was a costumer already. When I responded that I wasn't he took the time to formally introduced himself which I thought was very nice, especially with how busy they were. They did my oil change but also wrote up all the other things I needed done on my truck, which I knew about most of them to an extent. He said they would be honored if I chose them to do the other work on my truck but had no problem discussing the issues with my dad so that he could do some of the work to save me a little money. My two tires were very low, I called, spoke with Seth and he said come right over and they would do a quick ck and refill and it was a slow leak. They were so helpful on short notice! I then scheduled full inspection and tires removed, rims cleaned and tires reinstalled. Full description and pictures of work done and areas ckd but ok.
