I was…read moreon the tollway, going with the flow of traffic at about 70mph, when I suddenly heard an awful, terrifying, loud metal screeching sound coming from my car. When I was able to exit the tollway & pull over to a safe side street, I looked at the under carriage & found that the metal skid plate that covers & protects the underside of the engine, had come loose & was dragging & scraping the pavement. Knowing that issue creates dangerous sparks & other problems I decided to call AAA. Lucky for me, the tow truck driver suggested Charlie Car Care, and took me & my SUV there. The staff took my car immediately, reattached the skid plate with new bolts, and had me out of there in under an hour! Their price was very reasonable! I expected to pay 3-4x more, so was super pleased when they told me the price. The waiting area is nice & comfortable too. In addition to all that, the staff is super friendly. Madeline and Moises are excellent at customer service. Just like the other reviewers say...they are really professional & very friendly. All the staff members deserve 5 stars! I got a great deal on it, but after an inspection, knew it needed some work. One of the items needed were to replace/resurface the rotors. After using Yelp to research some of the local shops, this business really caught my attention. I had some dialogue with David through the Yelp app and ended up setting up an appointment to get an estimate. After the inspection, they mentioned the rotors were okay to wait on since I had newer brakes. However, I did need a bearing on the back tire. I brought the car back and had the work done a couple of weeks later. Overall, the communication through Yelp was prompt and respectful. Everyone I dealt with in the shop was great and I never felt as though I was being sold something I didn't need. They were thorough in their explanation and prices were very reasonable. I can see why they are a staple in the Elgin community! I will be back for future repairs and maintenance!
