I found Remke's Garage on a sprinter forum and I was no disappointed. Definitely a great garage. My sprinter needed a replacement on the #1 injector and I was contemplating driving down to the carolinas to see a well renowned mechanic down there. However since I lived in Chicago a long trip became out of the question. I called a couple of times and was able to get my concerns settled as the owner himself responded and even owned 3 sprinters himself. All of the thing he said matched up to the things I've read online. Settle up the appointment was a bit difficult, in fact it took 3 calls. But after that everything was smooth. Remke's gave me a loaner vehicle during my repair and was done with the injector in a couple of days. I was recommended additional repairs and was told which was dire and which could last a few hundred more miles. Overall an honest shop with knowledgeable mechanics. They warranty their work too which is a great sign of workmanship. I drove an hour from Chicago despite numerous mechanics closer and I was not disappointed. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Remke's garage charged me $3744.00 to repair my transmission on my 2007 Honda CRV. They did not repair the transmission and they have refused to reimburse me the $3744.00. Their excuse for not repairing the transmission was "well everyone makes a mistake sometime..." When I asked for the return of my money since they did not repair the car and admitted that they did not repair the car but it was "just a mistake " on their part they refused to return my money with the response "well, haven't you ever made a mistake?" BUYER BEWARE! Make SURE your vehicle has been repaired BEFORE you give them your money. Don't expect honesty and integrity or good service. read more

Tried to utilize their chat icon they promote on their website for a qoute for some work on my car. Was told later in an email from an employee that someone would call me, that never happened. When i reached out again i was told i should just call and ask for the guy who was supposed to call me. This was over a week past from when i requsted a qoute. I have been taking my vehicle to Joe at Remke's for almost 8 years now. I bought a 95 Bronco that immediately needed a transmission rebuild and Remke's was recommended by a friend. That was 130,000 miles ago!!! The rebuild has lasted longer than the original transmission! I am now going on 250,000 miles and there is no one I would want to touch my car but Remkes. We moved to Skokie 4 years ago, but I still make the drive out to Joe every time because he always gets it right! He is always kind enough to accommodate my request for a loaner vehicle, and I think he might add gas while he works on the car? Just kidding about the gas. I've only used Remke's a few times. I travel in the area frequently and during times I've had vehicle trouble, I've stopped here. These guys are great. I was leaving from a family camping trip today and noticed a lug was missing on my trailer. I couldn't find a part anywhere local and decided to see if they could help. They had someone come out and help me right away and got me going. It's hard to find a good mechanic and the locals here should be happy they have a place like Remke's. read more

I brought in my truck for a repair, after looking truck over for a few days Remkes gave me a dollar figure and time frame for the repairs. I told them to take there time as I was going out of town for the weekend and would pick it up when I returned. They left me a message on that Friday that it was done and that I could pick it up next week when I got back in town. I arranged a ride to there shop for early Monday morning, having been told it was ready to be picked up in Fridays message. I found my truck outside, unlocked, with the keys in the ignition, with sunflower seed shells on the floor, a flooring sample and business card from a carpet store in another city in the cup holder, and 80 more miles on the truck than it had when I dropped it off. I have been told I am very particular about my vehicles, but I believe somebody there had a great weekend in my truck while I was out of town and it cost me $2500+ (BTW. I was quoted $2400) at Remkes garage! Beware! read more
