Hashbrowns Loaded with Bacun and Ranch & side of Just Egg Scramble
Katie N.

Every time I come here I just love it so much. It's awesome to see so many vegan items on the menu, makes it hard to choose. I honestly always come for breakfast, it's just so good. And my friend who met me this time isn't vegan but loved her vrunchwrap. I got the gluten free pancake breakfast, with those fake eggs that are so delicious, and on recommendation of our waitress (who was so friendly and helpful) got the hashbrown with the soyrizo sauce added. I loooooved it, so worth the $2 up charge. We got adult drinks this time. Delicious. I'll be back again!

Given that it is a completely plant based experience--I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of menu options. They have burgers, salads that can be made into wraps, milkshakes, and a full breakfast menu. Service is quick (maybe too quick? I felt a little rushed even though I came alone at 7:30 and they don't close until 8:30), and the atmosphere feels a little sterile to me (I think it could use more color), But still, I'm giving it a 5/5, as the food was delicious and I don't eat a ton of vegan food.

I was tickled pink to discover that this vegan diner was a short walk from where I was staying during my last visit to Columbus. I was so excited, in fact, that I went there for dinner the first night and for breakfast the next day. Every dish I tried was excellent and 100% plant-based. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the prices. They charge fine-dining prices for diner-quality comfort food --the lunch sandwiches don't come with a side dish, so you're looking at a $20 meal for a sandwich and salad, and that's if you don't order a drink. That said, the food was delicious. Of all the things I tried, the French toast was the best, followed by the Caesar salad and grilled cheese, followed by the home fries.

"Family Owned Vegan Restaurant in Downtown Columbus, Ohio." This statement alone sparked my curiosity while on a business trip to the Midwest. 4th & State is a wonderful place in America's heartland offering up traditional diner fare made from plant based ingredients. I read all of the Yelp reviews and decided to walk over from my downtown Columbus hotel to check it out. It's easy to find (on the corner of South 4th Street and East State Street), as you'll see people waiting outside to be lucky enough to snag one of the limited dining room table seats. Be prepared to wait with other hungry and health-conscious customers. Even as a solo diner on a late Sunday morning, I was told the wait would be about an hour. I was able to leave my name and received a curtesy call 45 minutes later once my table was available. My friendly server came over to offer me something to drink, asked if I had any questions and presented some of the specials for the day. After taking several moments to pour over the great-sound menu, I decided to go with the Statehouse Breakfast ($18) - Two pancakes or French Toast served with a choice of breakfast sides. In my case, I went with the seasonal Cinnamon Apple French Toast, with Hashbrowns (GF/SF) and Seitan Sausage. Service was very attentive, although customers should know that during peak busy times, you will wait a good 20-30 minutes for your order to arrive. This has nothing to do with efficiency, as the food is served up hot, fresh and tasty - it's simply a matter of good food takes time to prepare. Finally, my food arrived (with an smile and an apology for the wait from my server). It was well worth the wait. The seasonal Cinnamon Apple French Toast was spectacular. The caramelized apple bits mixed with an outstanding whipped cream and syrup was absolutely incredible. The toast itself was wonderfully soft and tasty, with just a slight hint of crisp on the crust corners. Add an extra $1 to the Statehouse Breakfast if you choose to add the Seasonal option(s) to your order. The Hashbrowns (GF/SF) were also quite good. Great crisp outer texture with delicious soft potato interior, all without the guilt. The plant-based meat substitute Seitan Sausage links were also tasty. The prices are on par with what you would find at other diners, but without the greasy spoon guilt. Come check out this family-owned diner, as this clan knows how to create an amazingly unique dining experience that will delight the tastebuds of everyone that visits.

Loaded tots and Buffalo chick sandwich

I usually order takeout or delivery from them but we decided to go in and see the place. Very cute and the service was wonderful. Our server was so sweet and thoughtful. My friend go the burrito bowl and said it was amazing. I got the loaded tots and the buffalo chick sandwich. The sandwich was phenomenal. The tots were ok, they unfortunately didn't taste super fresh. I have to say, I HATE cold food that's supposed to be hot and these were flavor-wise very good but temp was cold. I've ordered from here many times through delivery also and it's always good. Will be back!

I loved everything about this place! I got a burger on gluten free bread that was so fluffy and delicious. The burger tasted just meaty enough and was great dipped in vegan ranch. They did forget a couple things but everything we did get was so delicious. I added on a strawberry milkshake that was super thick with vegan whipped cream on top. Can't wait to come back!

We went to her our @4thandstate fix. Voted the best vegan dinner in america according to VegOut magazine. Pictured , jalapeño popper sandwich, it's a Tempeh friend chik'n paddy with jalapeños and vegan cream cheese. And a cheese burger. With tempeh buffalo chik'n wings and 2 shakes. Strawberry cheesecake and lemon lavender.

TOP TIER. The location is convenient. The atmosphere is cool. The people, staff and guest, are helpful and friendly. The menu is amazing. The options are great. My food was delicious. EVERYTHING is vegan. I can't wait to come back with my sons. I bought two orders of the loaded fries, potato skins, and cheezy garlic bread. Chef's kiss!

Caramel Apple seasonal pancakes. This one was made by Chad himself and it was shlappin . Their seasonal menus go hard

Easy 5 stars. This place excels in every way. The food is top tier, the servers are awesome, the vibe of the interior is cozy and welcoming, the owner is dope. Don't think too hard, just go try it out. I recommend their pancakes, and burgers, ooh and their pizza, and their breadsticks, ooh and their..... see what I mean? All fire. I gotta go back soon

We found this place just down from the theater and loved everything we had! There are very few places where we could order anything on the menu as vegetarians! The chicken parmesan sandwich was amazing! Drinks were good and we did street parking close by. Will def be back anytime we are in downtown Columbus!

I went here for lunch today while in town on business. We were close by at the topiary garden and decided to eat at this place. I brought two non-vegans with me, one was lactose intolerant so thrilled she could get a root beer float, and the other had never been to a vegan restaurant in their life. No joke, he said "this is the best burger I have ever eaten in my life!" What a compliment!! I had a bbq chik'n pizza and it was delicious. I cannot wait to come back, it was the highlight of the trip for me! The diner is so cute and the staff was friendly and helpful.

100% vegan, 100% awesome Downtown vibes, in a cool, clean healthy breakfast lunch restaurant. Owner had Eden Burger before. Incredible variety on a vegan menu, fun looking desserts as well. Even a cocktail and beer menu!!

Lone star with loaded fries

A well-known vegan spot in town! My friend and I came here for dinner one day. Parking is parallel, but we found free parking less than a block away. There were people sitting inside but it wasn't all that busy. The menu is huge! Really great for vegetarians and vegans. They also serve breakfast, which my friend and I agreed to return and try. We ordered a few things to share: taco vrunchwrap, jalapeño popper pizza, and the lone star burger. While everything looked small, we were both very full by the end of it! The pizza had a nice creamy texture and the vrunchwrap was a solid vegan take on Taco Bell's crunch wrap. The lone star burger was interesting. I don't dislike tempeh, but it was cooked a bit too crispy for me. But I'm not vegan, so I'm no expert! It came with fries, so we opted for the loaded option. The ranch and vegan bacon were perfection! My favorite item on the menu! Overall, it was a fun time! The staff is very friendly and helpful. And the large menu made it tough to decide what to eat! The only drawback is that the kitchen is in the same space. Since it's not enclosed, all of my clothes and hair smelled like fried food LOL

We…read morespent over $80 on a to-go order that included two Gina's Gem, a big cheese pizza, and a salad. The pizza arrived cold but was still edible. Unfortunately, the Gina's Gem was nothing like what was advertised. I was expecting warm, crusty bread with a roasted cheese dip on the side so you could tear pieces of bread and dip them into the cheese. Instead, the cheese had already been spread directly onto the bread and toasted together. Because of that, the bread lost the texture you would expect--it wasn't crusty or dippable at all. It ended up soft, almost soggy, and the cheese was baked onto the bread rather than being a dip. The whole appeal of the dish was supposed to be the warm bread with the roasted cheese to dip into, and that part was completely missing. Included with the bread was a hot honey that missed the mark on being "hot" and some kind of jam. These options just made everything even more soft....which should have been impossible. The salad was actually the best part of the meal - even though it was a bit spicy. I've always had good experiences here in the past, so this was a big letdown--especially for the price. I just wish the to-go version of the dish matched how it's described, or that expectations were set correctly when ordering. Unfortunately, this experience made me lose all trust in ordering from here again. I can't believe we waited until exactly 3pm (when they opened) to order this.... At the very least the pizza should have been hot.

We were instructed to either order online or at their kiosk. That kind of threw me for a loop and would've been an issue except when that food came out, I didn't even care. It was THAT good. I had the fried mushrooms and the Breakfast Melt. My wife tried a salad that came along with fresh chips and spicy dressing. She also got a bottle of kombucha. Every single plate was hitting. The steak was cooked exactly how I asked, seasoned well, and actually had flavor all the way through. They were attentive without hovering, kept the drinks coming, and made it feel like a special night without being extra about it. For a birthday dinner, that matters.
