Our group stopped in to check out North Market on our way to Hocking Hills from Detroit. We decided to give Willowbeez a try since it's something different from what we can get at home. The food was delicious! I had the No Fish Fry (banana blossoms, who knew?!?) and they were a lovely artichoke-like texture and seasoned well. I'm not an actual vegan, so I did miss the usual non-vegan remoulade sauce, but what they provided was still good My friend had a mushroom sandwich and really enjoyed it as well. As a meat eater I tend to be skeptical when it comes to vegan food, but this place definitely enticed me. I was hoping to get the No Fish Fry, but since I came later in the afternoon it looked like they were out so I opted for the Bbjerk Bella instead. The person working was kind enough to offer me a sample, which I wasn't expecting! And then something else I wasn't expecting - he discounted my meal since he said I came later in the day when the food wasn't as fresh as it normally is. What an angel. I didn't even think the food wasn't fresh. It was great! The Bbjerk Bella was a bit salty for my taste, but extremely flavorful and so addicting served on top of the quinoa blend. The cornbread was also surprisingly good for it being vegan. Star of the show for me was the Cajun pasta - wow! Thanks for convincing me. Hope to be back to try the No Fish Fry if I'm ever in Columbus again. read more

As a person who eats vegetarian with a splash of seafood here and there, I'm always on the hunt for a new place to try that caters to my specific style of diet. I had heard of Willowbeez before they had a pop-up inside the North Market but now that they're in the North Market, it was easy for me to find them and give them a try. You'll find them in the space that used to be filled by Pistacia Vera for so many years. I believe this is the northwest corner of the market. They totally made the space their own with bright green splashes of color and a full on kitchen in the back. The ladies working the day of my visit were awesome and honestly were the star of the experience. They offered suggestions, shared the daily specials, and made me smile. I ended up ordering the nelly-deli wrap with fries, a side of their mac, and a drink. While they prepared my meal I walked around the market to people-watch and see what other changes had been made since my last visit. By the time I finished my loop they had my food ready to go. I'll start with the mac because it was my favorite. This is not your typical vegan mac and cheese. This is gooey and packed with flavor. The small portion was plenty enough with the other food but I could have just ordered them and been totally satisfied! The wrap on the other hand, wasn't my favorite. I think mainly because it was something I could have easily made at home and I'm a big texture person. I needed something wrapped up in there with a crunch. In my eyes you can't hardly ever go wrong with fries so I'll just say that I ate plenty of them! I'll be back to try other things and when I do, you'll bet I'll update my review. Great food and the owner will explain it to you also. It's a great lunch. The No fish fry and the rich boys was excellent. Really everything on the menu was great. Just ask him to direct you. All the vendors at the North market eat there. The line was long with vendors. What does that tell you. Even the police officer said to me "I'm not vegan but I eat all this stuff" . Stop looking for something else and go here! This food is so good! When you take a bite, walk away, then...look back at the food to ask "Why are you so good!!!!??? Like, how are you this delicious?" That's when you know it's good... for real! I tried the Rich Boi Sammie & fries w/Berbere. I also got the BBQ Bella, Mac & Plez & slaw "for tomorrow ". Everything was amazing! I'm not a vegan nor a vegetarian, for that matter. I do, however, know that vegetables are great for you. So I decided to check this spot out in the North market on a whim. When I arrived at the counter, I was greeted expeditiously. I started at the wrong end, and I was guided on how to go about placing my order ever so kindly by one of the staff. She explained to me what everything was and went into making it. She even explained to me all the fan favorites. I made my selection, and I definitely must say that I was delighted. I had the fries, and they were some of the best fries that I've had here in central Ohio thus far. I also obtained the cabbage, which I completely destroyed, and then returned for seconds. This place is so damn good. I am so happy it exists. I am moving to Columbus soon and I can't wait to go here more often. First few times I went I got the rich boi, which is delicious. My partner got some other special, I forget, but he loved it. Today I went and got the Mac n pls. Soooo good. I eat a ton of vegan mac and this is its own top tier. Check out Willowbeez SoulVeg in North Market, you won't regret it! The soulful aromas permeated the air as I stood drooling over the menu. Everything sounded wonderful, but as a visitor to the Columbus area, I knew I had one shot to see what this place was all about. I decided to ask the man behind the counter for his input and without hesitation, he said go for the Rich Boi or the No Fish Fry, but you got to try the Mac. He held up a spoon and offered to let me try the Mac, I should have taken him up on his kind offer as now that I'm finished, I'm longing for just one more bite of that delicious, creamy, Cajun-spiced, heavenly goodness. I went to the grand opening of Willowbeez SoulVeg at the North Market. Initially, they were located at The Hills Market, where traffic was not as active. I got the vegan PoBoy which had fried oyster mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, and a vegan sauce that reminded me of a remoulade. The sandwich was really good and flavorful. The line was extremely long as it was the main attraction that day. Their placement in the market will help them as well to get people to try their food. I will be back to try other dishes! read more

My FAVORITE place in all of the North Market. I've only gotten their brunch food and all of it is absolutely spectacular. None of the food has that "fake vegan taste" so it's incredible. The portions are generous and leave you full. The staff is some of the kindest you'll find around. It's a definite must if you're vegan - or even if you're not. Trust me when I say your omnivore friends will love this place as well. read more

I am so thrilled to see Willowbeez is now at Norrh Market!! I first fried their chili, vegan Mac n cheese and cornbread at their pop up at Maroon Box Park. This is vegan food done right! We have been eagerly waiting for this place to open up, and it didn't disappoint! We got the curry and bbq Bella meals, both were great. I slightly preferred the curry, but it is totally dependent on what you're in the mood for. Cornbread was solid. I'd skip the Cajun pasta next time. It was ok, but not great. The Mac and Plz was a total hit though. Honestly better than most non-vegan Mac I've had. Overall, highly recommend it. I am eager to go back and try some of the sandwiches. read more

I have been a few times now and the food is really really good. I've had the Rich Boi, Mac&Plz, and the Baby La La salad. Everything was fresh and super tasty. The dressing for the Baby La La salad is described as Red Wine Vinaigrette but the LOVE they combine it with makes it something special. Definitely better than simple vinaigrette. Ok so all of those things are great and I would order them again, and I certainly plan to try other menu items. However, it is a challenge to try other things when their So'Lasagna is so dang good! It's only served on Wednesday's so if you find yourself that way in a Wednesday you have to try it! Also, service is great and I've never had to wait too long. tl;dr food is good, service is good, you should go read more

I am so glad they opened up in the North Market! It is nice to have an all vegan restaurant choice in the Market. My favorite here is the slider, which they will have a daily selection of slider that changes. In addition, they have sandwiches, wraps, and few entrees. The food is delightful and flavorful and staff is always friendly, that is enough for 5 star rating for me. I do want to make sure I try all the food options but what I have sampled so far has been excellent! read more

I'll start by saying I'm not vegan. I don't have a restrictive diet of any kind. I came here due to the reviews and I was not disappointed. The service was wonderful. The BBJerk Bella Meal was very flavorful with perfect spices, just all around good. The mac and plz was amazing and is better than some non-vegan mac and cheese I've had. Was staying at the marriot across the street from this food market. Went here for lunch one day. Was so good that had to go again. The ladies behind the counter were great, super friendly, and accommodating to substitutions. Loved the rich boy but the tofurkey wrap was great too. OH MY GOD. I'm not even a vegetarian, let alone a vegan, and that damn vegan Poboy sandwich (they call it the rich boy) might be the best sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. And I do not say that lightly. I've had Primanti Brothers, so I'm not willing to just say it's *the* best sandwich of my life right away, but it's a contender. Easily top three. I'm gonna have to do a side-by-side with them and Primanti for the final decision but in the meantime it's definitely the best sandwich in Columbus, in Ohio. When I ordered it and the cashier literally clapped a little and did a little happy dance because they like it so much, I knew I had made the right choice. My expectations were not disappointed. It was amazing. Amazing. Like I was mad when it was over. I had to go back in there and tell him what a good job they did and I even cussed a little but I couldn't help it, it was that good. Ok, so I've always been the person that thought there is NO WAY I could become a vegan, but after eating Willowbeez, I can no longer say never. Stopped for a quick lunch and decided to try the BKT-Bacun Kale Tomato sandwich. So flavorful that I totally forgot there isn't real bacon in there. I never knew vegan options could be so delicious! Ive been excited to try Willowbeez and went out of my way to stop in the North Market finally. TOTALLY WORTH IT! I had the Rich BOI. A very delicious take on a Po Boy with fried oyster mushrooms. Sooooo Goooood. Came with frys which were thin cut, seasoned, and cooked perfectly. Im excited to try more things on the menu AND support a black owned restaurant. I enjoyed meeting one of the owners and his love for what he does shines through! read more

Unfortunately, the self-serve coffee station wasn't kept stocked, and after waiting quite a while for a refill, we eventually gave up. For breakfast, we ordered two Mushroom Frittatas, a Fresh Buttermilk Biscuit, and a side of Housemade Breakfast Sausage. The Mushroom Frittata featured three hearth-baked eggs with roasted mushrooms, sweet onions, and Gruyère cheese, served alongside breakfast potatoes and a peppery arugula salad. It was flavorful, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. Although I informed the staff about my peanut allergy, I was surprised to find the crispy breakfast potatoes on my plate, which left me uncertain whether the allergy request had been fully communicated to the kitchen. The Fresh Buttermilk Biscuit, served with strawberry preserves, was one of the highlights of the meal. It was flaky, buttery, and wonderfully moist, pairing perfectly with the sweet preserves. The Housemade Breakfast Sausage consisted of two peppery pork patties that were juicy and well-seasoned, making a great accompaniment to the rest of the meal. Overall, we enjoyed a delicious and filling breakfast with fresh, high-quality ingredients. While I wish the coffee station had been monitored more closely and that greater care had been taken regarding my food allergy, the Mushroom Frittata and fresh biscuit alone make Northstar Café worth returning to.

The whole appeal of the dish was supposed to be the warm bread with the roasted cheese to dip into, and that part was completely missing. Included with the bread was a hot honey that missed the mark on being "hot" and some kind of jam. These options just made everything even more soft....which should have been impossible. The salad was actually the best part of the meal - even though it was a bit spicy. I've always had good experiences here in the past, so this was a big letdown--especially for the price. I just wish the to-go version of the dish matched how it's described, or that expectations were set correctly when ordering. Unfortunately, this experience made me lose all trust in ordering from here again. I can't believe we waited until exactly 3pm (when they opened) to order this.... The soy was decent but it was basically soy with some batter, not nearly as much flavor. I am not vegan but I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu. If they can make a solid vegan chicken and waffles, I'm interested to see what else they can do.

The lack of customer care, patience, and professionalism I encountered from the Manager on Duty was entirely unacceptable, and doesn't deserve even a half star, but I had to choose one. On Father's Day, my family ordered five bowls, two of which were seasonal bowls made with the original ingredients with the exception of extra lime. One of these bowls was specifically meant for my husband, who is currently in the hospital. I had raved to him about your restaurant, as it was one of the few healthy options he could safely enjoy during his stay. Unfortunately, the meal was prepared with a blatant lack of care. Even after it was made clear that this was a special meal for him, his portion size was equivalent to a half-bowl, and it was entirely missing the onions and tomatoes. Seeking to resolve the issue, I called the restaurant and was placed on hold. When the phone was picked up, the staff member did not offer a greeting, a name, or any indication of who was speaking. I politely stated, "Hi, I was holding for the manager," to which she abruptly replied, "This is." When I asked for her name, her response was unclear and unkind. Despite maintaining a calm and respectful tone while explaining that my husband's hospital meal for Father's Day had been made incorrectly, the manager was immediately combative and argumentative for absolutely no reason. Instead of offering a basic level of customer service or empathy, I was met with disrespect. Your company's mission proudly states: *"We strive to empower people through radical accessibility to natural food."* Unfortunately, the radical lack of care and professionalism I experienced completely contradicts that standard. Because of this deeply disappointing experience, I will no longer be a patron of your establishment. Furthermore, I will not be recommending Roots Natural Kitchen to anyone moving forward, including for any future corporate or community events I coordinate. The restaurant had a warm ambiance with earthy tones as you walk in. Nothing to write home about with standard tables and chair but one is here for the fare! The gentleman who runs the restaurant kindly suggested the Yetty's Egusi. In my opinion it was the perfect surf and turf (or should I say surf and fluff?) dish. This was a delicious stew with both fish and chicken in it. The stew of spinach (or was that kale?) and melon seeds in palm oil initially left me a little confused wondering if it was ricotta cheese, scrambled eggs, or fish roe. The Chicken drumstick and the fish morsel were deep fried separately then added to the stew later before serving. The chicken was really good with a teeny crust from the frying, and moist and juicy inside, but I have got to hand it to the fish. It was moist, flaky, flavourful, and reminded me of all the river fish I grew up eating. Upon mentioning to the gentleman that I was intrigued by the Fufu, he let me order it as a side (it's not usually served with the Egusi). It was super soft, starchy, with no need to masticate. Had you come here with your gummy teeth, having left your dentures at home, you would have absolutely no problems downing this dish. Had on its own it reminds one of a smooth and creamy mashed potatoes. I enjoyed pinching out tiny morsels of it, dunk it in the sauce, and just let is slide down my chute. PS: I read that it is considered ill-mannered to chew the fufu. One usually swallows the morsel without any chewing. And I can see why. Just crush it up with your tongue against the roof of your mouth to extract its mild flavour and enjoy the creamy texture, and off it goes! It's been a while, and I really need to go back again!
