When it comes to quality BBQ, everyone has their favorite spot, but true BBQ lovers know when they've tasted high-quality BBQ. And while the Dallas area is not short on good BBQ, it's great that Argyle has a real winner in 407 BBQ. I have been here multiple times now during visits to the area over the past year. Both of my experiences were excellent. The first time was for lunch and the second time for dinner. Both times, the place was pretty packed, but we were able to get seated without having to wait. When you drive up, you will notice a big parking lot that is unpaved and with unmarked "parking spaces" but you won't have any issue finding a spot. When you walk in, you will notice the openness in the middle and scores of tables on the right and veer to your left to ogle the menu and place your order. The staff here have been great and can make suggestions if they happen to run out of anything you may have been eyeing (which is more likely to occur in the evening, of course). I have tried their Turkey Sandwich, 3 meat plate with brisket (of course), pulled pork, and sausage as well as sides of baked beans, potato salad, fried okra, green chile cream corn, and elote style street corn and nothing disappointed. When I couldn't finish my 3 meat plate and had the leftovers the next day, it was still good after reheating on a pan with a dab of butter. They also have a self-serve condiment station so you can get as much of the pickles, onions, etc. as you want. Self-serve so This place is simple and unpretentious but that's an observation and not a complaint. Their focus is on serving good barbecue and taking good care of their customers and they do that VERY well. On nice days, you can enjoy dining al fresco if sitting inside is not your cup of tea or if it's packed inside. I'm looking forward to my next visit and to trying new things in the visits ahead. Are there too many great BBQ spots in North Texas? could there be? No matter your thoughts on the matter 407 BBQ is greatness. I have heard about the restaurant for quite a while and I was excited to give it a try. We ordered the Moist Brisket and the turkey. The brisket was super tender and had an excellent smoky flavor. The turkey was also very well prepared with great flavor and still was juicy. We had the cream corn as a side and it was awesome and a definite must get. Now I know Texas BBQ is NOT about the sauce, but the sauce here ROCKS. The only bummer is the meats are so good you will not get to use so much. Better dip those fries! The only thing I didn't measure up to some BBQ spots was the lack of bread. I did not get any with my order and I did not see any to self serve. I did see some folks with Rolls but I didn't see that as an option on the menu. I am more than happy to chalk this up as my own lack of knowledge of this particular restaurant. I would love just some plain white bread to enjoy with the BBQ here. I will be back for sure! Service was great and the restaurant was very clean. I visited for the first time about 30 minutes before closing (7pm) and ordered the three-meat plate with brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. Unfortunately, all the meats were dry and disappointing. Fast forward a month--I returned with the same group of colleagues, this time around 5:30pm. What a difference! I had brisket, turkey breast, and smoked meatloaf, and everything was moist, flavorful, and perfectly smoky. The sides were excellent too. Hot tip they have Beef Ribs on Fridays and Saturdays (sadly we were there on a Thursday). It was a little difficult to find, turn at the big "GUN CLUB" sign and it is the building in front of that. Big parking lot. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I had read about lines but there were only about 5 people in front of us at 11:30 am on a Thursday (so an ideal time to arrive).  Your meal comes up very fast too, so even if there is a line, your food will come right out. I loved our sweet cashier - who looks like a young Jennifer Garner - she says she gets told that a lot.  We ordered a 3 meat plate. Smoked bologna, pork ribs and sliced brisket (you can choose fatty or lean, guess which one we chose? LOL). It comes with 2 small rolls and 2 sides (we got fried okra the elote creamed corn).  Man - it was all delish - the brisket was maybe my fav - it was nicely smoked and fall-apart tender, with the bologna coming in 2nd - I made little sandwiches with the pickles and the meat.  It was a pretty good deal too - less expensive than a lot of places we have been going too.  Everything at the other tables all looked tasty too- the meat topped baked potato, the turkey, Hubby and I have to find another meat-eating couple to go to these places with so we can try everything! $$$ Tried this BBQ place for the 1st time with everyone recommending it to us. Parking is a dirt lot so be mindful when wearing good shoes!! It is a walk up order the YOUNG girl never greeted just stared at as if we were bothering her that we were standing there. Clean and spacious with plenty of seating, on the table we had the Spudzella very disappointing with very little sour cream & butter the cheese looked like it came out of a can it was lukewarm at best the pulled pork was nothing to write home about Bucee's has better. We also had the 3 meat plate with turkey/sliced brisket and jalapeño sausage for sides Mac&cheese/ranchero beans. 407 BBQ is the real deal. Recommended! Expect crowds during peak times. This restaurant is a local gem for a good reason. To get a marginally better barbecue will require an unnecessarily long drive. So, why bother leaving Argyle when you can get outstanding traditional Texas-style barbecue on your doorstep? For the rest of us, YES, it's worth the drive! Rest assured, the staff here are incredibly efficient at quickly moving customers through the line. Even if you arrive just prior to the rush, like we did, you'll see a constant flow of customers that soon turns into a line out the door. They're properly staffed, so while you may have to wait, it won't be for long.  Prepare your taste buds for a treat. We ordered a three-meat combo platter to try a variety of meats, and we were not disappointed. The brisket is spot-on, traditional Texas barbecue. The ribs, while they had more of a tug than I prefer, tasted great. The "Hickory" sausage was a delightful surprise; it was much spicier than we expected, but it was delicious.  The sides we ordered, beans and potato salad, were simple but satisfying.  Pro tip: order the fried Brussels Sprouts. Perfectly prepared with a drizzle of homemade aioli sauce, these are the best Brussels sprouts I've ever eaten. Last year, they temporarily removed them from the menu. However, due to the outcry on social media, they quickly put them back on the menu as a premium side.  The ambiance is casual, Texas countryside. It's just a little noisy, but there are ample outdoor dining areas to escape the hustle and bustle.  If you're a barbecue purist with a critical palate, 407 BBQ will satisfy you. This barbecue joint will work fine if you want to treat an out-of-state guest to authentic Texas barbecue without driving toward Austin. Stopped here on the way to Port A in Texas. We both wanted BBQ and this had good reviews. The place had a great atmosphere and the service was top notch. But that didn't even come close to the food. We had brisket and the jalapeño and cheese sausage. The sides were garlic mashed potatoes, cream corn, brussel sprouts, and baked beans. Wow it was great. Some of the best BBQ we've ever had. Cool looking place with their own 407 gun club directly behind. Inside is concrete floor corrugated tin and Barnwood siding. Tables for 75? Additional picnic tables outside for another 75 at least. I do like the patches of all the first responders police, fire, etc. they have posted on the wall near the drink station. Quite an extensive menu up on the chalkboard, so just did a sampler. Arrived at noon on a busy Saturday but no line. 10min after I sat down, the line was 30 folks. Ordered at counter and waited almost 10min for them to call me. $27-3 meat platters offer more than a pound of meat. Brisket 6.5 was good but unremarkable in the context of the brisket I've been eating in TX. Nice enough rub, but a tad dry. Pork ribs were absolutely average. Homeade hickory sausage 8.2 had some wonderful blend of spices inside, good smoke and a wonderful snap. Wish it had been served a little hotter. Charrred brussel sprouts 9.5 with garlic aioli were the bomb. Best sprouts I've ever had anywhere and would certainly get them again. I ate the entire order of sprouts even though this was my 2nd lunch and I couldn't even finish the meat. Green chili cream corn 7 had a really nice flavor, including mexican cheese grated on top, but there just wasn't that much green chili flavor. Still a good side. Other sides included: street corn, fried okra, cheesy potatos, pinto beans and more. I hear the cheescake mousse is really good, just didn't have room. The house sauce 9 with a bottle on each table absolutely hit all the marks I like in a good sauce in terms of flavors, balance between dark & light. Recommended to me by some of the best BBQ cooks in North Texas...Tim Esh, Ed Faulder and Justin West. Did not disappoint. I had brisket, turkey and pulled pork. Brisket (moist) was outstanding. Great texture and flavor. I don't normally get turkey because some places dry it out easily, but I got turkey because they were out of sausage. The turkey was also outstanding. Good taste. The pulled pork was okay. We were later in the evening arrivals and we may have been drawing from the day's dregs. It's a little bit of a haul for us as we live over on the 35E side of the world but it was well worth the trip out to Argyle. Highly recommend 407 BBQ. read more

It's amazing to me this place is still in business. In the past I really enjoyed 407 bbq but it's become a "once in a blue moon" kind of place and now probably never again. It's absolutely pathetic they close at 7pm during the week. Most people don't even think about eating dinner until after 7, there's literally a rush hour line of traffic still sitting out front on 407 and they are closing. I decided to try again this evening after last month they were out of buns for their sandwiches and of course tonight they are out of turkey plus several other things. I just want a turkey sandwich! I understand places run out of things but twice in a row was disappointing. My son and I each ordered a meat sandwich with just one side of coleslaw, 2 sodas, and $11 "queso nachos" and the total was an outrageous $52. The nachos were an absolute joke, like something served at a little league concession stand which contained zero meat for that price. The soda selection was inadequate, nothing caffeine free. I requested moist ends brisket and was told they don't take requests for something like that. Yet, at competing bbq spots they specifically ask you which side you want. I thought that was poor customer service and of course was served the dry hard brisket end. While sitting out front eating under the overhang they abruptly flipped their sign to "closed" at 7p. Would have been nice to snag a refill and wash hands. I was left feeling ripped off in every which way possible. 407 bbq could do so much better! read more

Depending on where you live it may be a trek to get to this place, after all there isn't a whole lot out there off 35W in Argyle. But I assure you it's well worth the drive. You won't find frills or fanfare in this rustic environment. Crowds aren't parading past massive, billowing pits of meat (I'm looking at you Hard Eight!). There's no bar. Just tasty food that even the pickiest bbq fans will find satisfying. My favorite was the pulled pork which was one of the most tender, juicy versions I've ever had. And, I didn't encounter a single lump of fat. The runner up was the jalapeno sausage. It could have been a little spicier but the abundance of creamy, oozing cheese inside made up for the lack of heat. There was some debate in our party about whether the brisket was slightly too dry or just right. I'll just say I felt the need to put a generous amount of sauce on mine and leave it at that! For sides I would highly recommend the fried okra. Evenly coated in a light and crispy breading, it was among the best, if not THE best I've ever eaten. They provide King's Hawaiian rolls instead of slices of white bread that are standard at many bbq places. I have to commend them on coming up with this brilliant idea. Those sweet, buttery rolls were the perfect accompaniment to all that smokey, savory meat. We received 2 single serve containers of cobbler Maybe enough beans for 2 people small container Also same size potato salad Enough okra for maybe 3 adults A small container of sausage And enough brisket for 4 ONLY ENOUGH ribs for 5-6 You have lost a customer for life. We recommend you, we frequent you but you really really ruined our family Christmas lunch. There is absolutely NOTHING you could ever do to make this up to us. Had some friends in town from TN wanting to try some TX BBQ and Denton doesn't have a whole lot of solid BBQ places at the moment. I yelped this place out and to my dismay, Tom H's post hyped up the burger more than the meat, but I figured, great reviews, great burger, good meats...Yeah, let's give it a go! Upon entry, it was an inviting atmosphere. Clean, plenty of space to sit outside or inside. But maybe inside is best to avoid the dust from the gravel parking area. We were greeted with a smile at the counter by Bijou and asked her immediately what her 'go to' was when she eats. Her response was, "I know you're not going to want to hear this, but...It's the burger. I mean, all the meats are really good, but the burger is my favorite." Since I had already read about Tom H's lover affair with the burger (I get you now Tom), I was not surprised but was definitely 'in' on giving it a spin. We also ordered the 3 meat plate (we did turkey, moist brisket, and the Jalapeno cheese sausage) that came with two sides (we did Mac and the green chile creamed corn). I'll Review the meat first, sides second, and save that pesky burger for last. I feel like with well-prepared brisket you can't have a bad experience and this brisket delivered. I'd definitely put it in my top 5. BBQ sauce was sweet and enhanced the meat a bit, but to be honest, the moist brisket did not need it. In fact, after trying it, I didn't even use it on the meats again...it just felt wrong...like putting ketchup on a great steak. Their turkey gets the gold medal for smoked turkey for me. I typically am not a huge fan of smoked turkey because it can be on the dry side, but this one was on point; moist, tender, and delicious. Sausage...let's just say, I don't eat sausage anymore, because I know how bad it can give me heartburn (and that's even without jalapenos), but I was willing to risk several hours of heartburn to try it and after having tried it, I will eat it again...NO DOUBT! It is delicious...fatty, cheesy, and just spicy enough to give it a slow burn but not so much that you need a glass of milk to recover. And yes, the heartburn kicked in later, but I am telling you, it is worth the pain and it will be on my plate when I visit again. Let's talk sides for a minute. Not bad, not excellent. Next time I will try something different. The mac was run of the mill mac and the corn was good, but nothing to write home about. Good news is that with the deliciousness of the meats, I don't think I really even need a side. Ok Tom H, you are right about the burger that berthed the conflict so let's break it down. Not sure I'd pay $20 at 3AM for it but I'd put down $19.99 at 8 or 9 PM (I'm asleep at 3AM) as long as I could get some fries or something with it. I don't like overpaying for burgers and at $11.99, it might be a bit on the high side for a burger, but I've had $15 burgers that do not hold a candle to this one and even at $12 without a buddy to support it on the side, I will still be having it again. Not sure exactly what was on it, but we did it "all the way"- as advertised on the menu (i didn't read what was on it because Tom and Bijou didn't talk about any omissions being necessary). So here is what I remember for sure being between that delicious bun...two 1/4# patties, smashed but not too thin...cheese...SWEET pickles (which I might have taken off had I looked at the menu...SO GLAD I DIDN'T because they added a sweet surprise that I was not expecting and would have NEVER put on a burger myself)...and some sort of sauce or dressing. I honestly don't remember what else was on it because I was trying to figure out that bun (not to mention why that sweet pickle worked so well). Is it brioche, Hawaiian roll, Texas roadhouse roll, parker house??? Man I have no clue, but it is delicious. It's sweet, super soft and delicate. I'm not sure if delicate is the right word...it has good bite, but is soft and chews well...chewy is not the word either but close. I just don't see how it held up so well to the greasy, cheesy, drippy, mess that was going on between the top bun and it's buddy on the bottom (perhaps this is why it is $12-food cost is prob $4 but napkin cost runs at least $6). It has a lot going on and you can tell its all super fresh. Tom, you are correct in that it is a great burger, but it seems to me that you figured out the conflict...just be sure to bring a buddy to share it and some BBQ and all is solved! So thank you Bijou and Tom H. I appreciate your honesty since we all know that a burger should not be the highlight of a BBQ place. That said, the smoked meats were excellent too and are definitely not second fiddle to the burger. I will be trying the meatloaf next time too because let's be honest, why not?!! my only real conflict now is finding the right person to tag along with so that we can also split that burger! read more

This place.. I've heard great things about this place for a while, but I live in Rockwall. I found myself in W Fort Worth, which was 20 minutes close enough. Stopped in and had the 3 meat plate. -Brisket was amazing! -Bologna... do yourself a favor and give this a try. It sounds weird, but this is the best version of bologna you'll ever have. It's maybe the thing I want the most when I see it's on the menu. -Sausage with cheese/jalapeño was really good. I like it cut a little thinner, but it was great. -Baked Beans had a good balance of brisket in it and I loved it. -Max & Chz tasted great. I would get everything I had again if I'm in this area. Where do I start? I've been watching this place since they opened and see lots of talk on Yelp and BBQ pages. We hopped on the bike and roads up here from Fort Worth just to eat here. They have a big parking lot and plenty of inside/outside tables. Extra points for not requiring mask. It was up to each customer. Very patriotic place too! My wife ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with macaroni n cheese and the Brussels sprouts. I got the two meat (brisket and jalapeño sausage) and potato salad n creamed corn as sides. Now it's expensive but OH SO WORTH IT! They also give BIG portions. We both picked up half of our plates and took them home. Those ribs were MAAAAAVelous! Huge ribs and so much flavor. The brisket was moist and HUGE cuts that were thick with great bark. The jalapeño sausage was right on point too. Now let's talk about the BEST DAMN Brussels I've had in a long time. I'm coming back and getting a to go order of those jewels to take home. The macaroni was great as well as the corn. My only "very slight" complaint was the store bought rolls. Who cares??
