I went into 3rd Generations with a list of alterations I needed for a suit I bought online. I was nervous of the cost and if it would come out as I expected, I was very relieved of the quality work I received! He did have many questions on why I wanted my suit more tight, but he also gave feedback and suggestions on why some alterations I wanted would not work for me if I tried sitting down or lifting my arms. I've waited months to write this review to cool off. I'll just keep it short and say that I took in my wedding dress to be cleaned - it was a second-hand dress that I was planning to wear for my upcoming wedding in early June. The man up front is the rudest man I've ever met. I paid extra for rush cleaning before my wedding, they didn't even touch my dress til I tried to pick it up. I sprayed the dress with perfume before taking it to make sure they actually cleaned it. Not only did they not actually clean it, they literally spilled coffee on the David's Bridal dress bag AND it soaked into my dress. Read on for details... The man that assisted me at the front was the most rude, disaster of a "man" I've ever met. Our entire interaction he was talking trash about his poor wife who was sweating in the back working her butt off while he ate a sandwich and dropped lunch meat from his mouth as he spoke to guests up front. He appeared annoyed that customers were interrupting his ass-sitting experience and made frequent jokes to both me and other women about inappropriate things I'll not repeat here. When I dropped of my dress, I sprayed it with perfume to be sure they actually cleaned it. If they did clean it, it shouldn't smell strongly of the ONE spray of perfume I put on it. Lo and behold, when I went to retrieve my dress a week later, it wasn't cleaned. I asked what happened and they said "oh, yea! That is clean!" It was in the same spot on the rack I left it when I dropped off. The same little bow I tied inside the bag was tied and the perfume was CLEARLY on the dress still. I made those points and they said, we'll fix it. Come back later. I paid extra for a rush cleaning as I had a week until my wedding. Coming back was NOT an option and what a waste of "rush" fees. I explained the situation and they said "give us 15 minutes, we fix for you." I went to get lunch, gave them ample time (over an hour) and returned. Upon my return, the dress was moved one rack over. The bow was still tied (it had to be untied to remove it from the bag). The dress still smelled strongly of perfume and what was even worse... The entire front of the bag had a long, wet, dripping coffee stain from a spilled Starbucks latte on the floor next to my dress/bag. When I asked, horrified, what the hell happened. The wife said, "oh! Nothing! It cleaned for you. We put in wrong bag." Meanwhile, the crotchety old man said, "someone must have spilled on it." The poor wife was hushing him trying to quiet his noise. As the wife scrambled to find some other poor girl's David's Bridal dress bag and stuff my (unwashed) dress into the bag, I cried. My dress wasn't washed and the man said I couldn't leave without paying when I asked for a refund. I took my dress, crying, and vowed to share the story when my head cleared from all the stress. As I sit, literally two months later, to recount the experience, I am no less distraught. NEVER take your clothing here. The only time I have EVER used a dry-cleaner, I had the most important garment I own trashed. I'm crushed. Thankfully, the wedding was outdoors in bright sunlight and the stain was on the train of the dress... you know... since they never even untied the bow that kept it hooked to the bag. read more

My daughter went to pick up our order and was berated about the large amount of items and how stupid it was to bring a comforter and blanket to be cleaned in the summer "oh you're really going to use this now." This was all said by a middle aged man who seemed to be in charge. When my husband entered to help bring everything to the car nothing was said to him, surprisingly. In addition the sweaters we had sent in were hung on hangers and have indents in the shoulders now and a linen dress is discolored. Absolutely do not recommend read more

I am beyond thrilled with the service I received at 3rd generation cleaners. I purchased three beautiful dresses and to my horror, I found they were in a home filled with cats and indoor smokers. They smelled so disgusting and I tried washing them, soaking in baking soda and nothing worked. I called 3rd generation to see if this is something they could handle. I just got my dresses back and the smell is gone! They have an ozone process they used to remove the smell. They were incredibly mindful with the way they hung the items on the hangers to ensure there was no damage to the fabric. I also took in a silk robe and alpaca sweater with a stain. The stain is gone! My robe went in all crumpled up and icky and it came back perfectly clean and pressed. The customer service is impeccable and they have a really convenient app and text service that lets you know when your clothes are ready. Their pricing was shockingly affordable. Was staying at an AirBnb for a month in Chico for work and there was no washer and dryer. Used to use Coin op laundromat for years, but have ruined a bunch of clothes from weird substances in the dryers. I began doing fluff and fold a while back when I'm away from home and that problem has since corrected itself. Visited here last week and brought in 20 lbs of clothes and their price is $2 per lb. My clothes were ready in less than 24 hours, everything was folded nice and tight, clothes smelled good, and didn't see any new stains or issues. Family business, reasonably priced, quick turn around, and they do a good job. Can see why they have lasted 3 generations! read more

Van and Stu are so kind and personal! Van has hemmed dozens of pants for me over the past 20 years. Van has fixed dog beds, foreign clothing/bags, my wedding dress and one time she took apart my entire white lined wool coat and put it back together two sizes smaller -- perfectly. The dry cleaning experience is top notch and quick. The hours are perfect. None of the other employees have ever been rude to me. I highly recommend 3rd Generation Cleaners. Very friendly and helpful. I like that they do alterations and sew on patches and such. It's a little pricey, but it helps ease my load. You do need to check to make sure all of the patches are sewn on, but if they miss one they fix it right away and are so kind about it. read more

Stu and Van are horrible people. I got hired because i was supposed to do sewing but Van never taught me anything and had me pressing. Took 60 uniforms in (like last year when they did a great job) and got them back 4 weeks later in disarray - pants not matched up with top or uniform hanger. Once I started to inspect them I noticed all kinds of sweat stains. Stu (owner) admitted to washing them even though they say on each uniform part "PROFESSIONAL DRY CLEAN ONLY." I took them back to be done correctly but the damage was done. Piping is starting to fray and uniforms are sagging. What's worst is we got no apology or refund. Experience counts and they have it! They got Jagermeister stains out of my chiffon and silk white dress from a holiday party two years ago, just amazing. I was so happy that I brought in a bunch of expensive pants, wool jackets and dresses that just needed a hem or had a rip, needed a stitch or had some stain....they fixed and cleaned them all! The prices were really good and service was personal. Next time I see a designer blouse on sale because it has a small hole or nice pants that don't quite fit, I'm buying them and bringing them here to fix them up good as new again. I called 3rd Generation Cleaners and asked if it would be possible to drop off my items and get them back a couple of hours later. They said if I took it ASAP that I could.
