This is a great gem in the Gold Cost in Chicago. I've been there at least 5 times. It's a cute place with a nice ambiance. Plus the service has always been great. The portions are very big! read more

My sister, who use to eat here after a long night of clubbing back in the early 90's while in college, brought me in today for nostalgia and to reminisce. What a great place for breakfast, Gabriel, our server was very nice and attentive. Had to try your lox and bagels, which did not disappoint. You know what place is a disappointment? The Terrace 16. Go there for pix and nothing else. read more

3rd Coast Cafe - Norwegian Lox & Bagel Plate - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

A local own restaurant located in a very cozy neighborhood. The ambiance of this restaurant makes it great for either brunch or dinner. I think it is great for groups and a good date spot because the ambiance itself is relaxed to have a conversation and the location itself is nice for strolling for walk. I really liked my hamburger with hash browns and my sparkling wine ~ i know it is a weird personal combo but I am keeping it classy lol ~ The staff is friendly and although it got busy at times I was very surprised how they still managed to keep their tables checked and the bar tenders where stepping in whenever they saw need it ! Respects to that teamwork! read more

Pretty mediocre. While the service was fast and friendly, the polish sausage and hash browns were so grease filled I could barely finish half of my food. I wish I had left and tried another place! read more

Great casual breakfast place in Gold Coast. Enjoy the casualness in an upscale neighborhood

My friends and I stumbled upon this spot while looking for a place to eat at in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Situated inside a hotel, 3rd Coast Cafe aims to provide a comfy and homey feeling for one to dine-in. I got the mexican steak and eggs dish. It's much like a regular Steak and Eggs dish, however the bread is tortilla bread and it comes with Pico de Gallo. The steak is also served with cheese which makes it tastier, but the steak itself is a bit smaller than expected. That said, it's still a very delectable and filling meal. The service here was good, too. It was a good pick given our constraints. read more

Food was average at best, server rushed us out the door. I believe from the moment we sat down to when we were checked out was 35 minutes. Server was asking if she could take food before we were even done read more

We were looking for a last minute brunch spot as travelers to Chicago and found this spot through google and it was such a great place! It had a cozy pub like atmosphere. The tables were close but it wasn't obnoxiously loud. Our server was super friendly, I wish I remembered her name! The food was delcious! I had the BLT with fruit, my wife had the french toast and we shared a scone. Probably the best scone I've ever had! read more

Looking for home cooked food that you don't have to cook? Then order from 3rd Coast Café! This adorable little neighborhood gem offers anything you might want. Breakfast, lunch and dinner never disappoint. I've tried them all. When I was able to dine in, I have enjoyed their great meal specials and fantastic wine deals. Service is always top notch. They know what they are doing and it shows. Janet, the owner is there a lot and welcomes you in as if it is her home. The vintage building on a cozy neighborhood block is just the beginning. Once inside, the memories are evident. Local artwork and comfy seating are so inviting. Now that indoor dining is on hold, don't forget to order take out. My food is always correct and is fresh and tasty. The salads are huge and the entrees offer a ton of food. What a great value from this sweet local spot. read more

Super yummy food and breakfast all day. I had the breakfast burrito with no meat and really enjoyed it. It came with 2 sauces on the side that were good too. all was missing was those little yellow chilis. One of my kids ordered a cheese pizza. Pizza had amazing sauce and super cheesy. Other kid order chocolate chip pancakes with hash browns. She said pancakes were really good. Hash browns were over cooked. read more

Been coming here for years. It's like the old tv show Cheers, where everybody knows your name. The staff for the most part has been here for a long time which is a good sign that the place is good and treats their staff well. There have been quite a few new staff that probably still need to learn but are trying, but for the most part the Friday, Saturday, Sunday crew are the best. You never have to wait for anything. They know your name. Jennifer, Silvia, Dillan, Marleen are among the best. The hostess Nina is top notch. They all make you feel right at home. There is a new girl Charlie who is a new favorite. The place is warm and cozy. The food is kind of old school but always good. All in all, I am happy when I walk through those doors and am greeted by name by the staff. read more

3rd Coast is our local go-to in the area. Have been patrons for so many years. A varied menu, great service and the food is always exactly what we want. Ate here three times over two days last week - don't @ me with "there are so many other places to try." The bowl of chicken soup for dinner was fantastic. Breakfast scones are delicious and shareable. Solid wine list. Food is always served at perfect temperature. If you are there after 4:00 - try a pizza with it's just crunchy/chewy crust and always fresh toppings. Best local place in the Gold Coast. read more

People love to have brunch on the weekends! If I added up the hours I have waited for the opportunity to grab a weekend brunch that number would be huge! Sqirl in L.A., at Balthazar in N.Y., Tartine in S.F. the The Peppermill in L.V. (and this list goes on) all sporting lengthy waits for a "coveted table". Uncle Mike's here in Chicago on 15° day during a snow storm I saw people waiting on the sidewalk for 30 minutes + (I was one of these clowns). That's proof be told about the legend of this meal! I bring this up because after a robust jog this morning with my wife we started to head home, on Dearborn St. We walked past The 3rd Coast Cafe and we were hungry and it was packed (to over flowing). I didn't want to wait for a table and my wife did. We all know the outcome here! I have to admit that this Cafe did smell good, ran like a precision watch and had a great Brunch menu. So, I shut my mouth like a good little boy, twiddled my thumbs and sat there and waited. The wait was about 30 minutes; and now looking back, it was well worth the wait. I had a pretty terrific tuna melt with a pretty fantastic Caesar salad. My wife had bacon and eggs with toast that she loved. I get the Saturday / Sunday brunch thing. It's almost a ritual for some people. I'm not particularly one of these people, but I'm learning. read more

I have been here before, and this time, as usual, the food and great service were excellent. It was 1:00 and they gave us the brunch menu, which was fine. I ordered the Mexican Omlete and she had an egg sandwich. We both loved our choices. She ordered coffee which was diligently refilled when the cup was close to being empty. I had an Irish Coffee which went down well. The ambiance was wonderful, but it was crowded because of its popularity. I recommend the place for anything from coffee (or something harder) to a meal. read more

easy to miss and hard to forget delicious food and great service. they were fully packed on a sunday but fast turnover so we only had a 15 min wait so don't be discouraged if you see a long line it moves quickly. food was filling and the bloody mary was spicy so be careful if you don't like spicy. the breakfast sandwhich with sausage was filling and better with hot sauce so make sure to ask for that. read more

I nearly missed 3rd Coast Cafe as it's in a very unassuming location, especially compared to other brunch/breakfast places in the Gold Coast area. It has a quaint and cozy interior, and I'm surprised it's not more popular! Solid American breakfast with a wide variety of options and great bakery items. I enjoyed my Farmers Omelet and heard great things about the Pulled Pork Hash from my friends. The blueberry scone was also delicious, and I'd come back just to try some of their other baked goods! The service was wonderful as well- the food came out quickly and they were so nice about a mix-up with one of my side orders. read more

Solid neighborhood diner. Fresh food, great service. Blueberry pancakes FULL of blueberries!

One of my go to breakfast spots in Gold Coast. Walking in feels like you've stepped back in time when cafes were at every corner from vintage decor to the heavily furnished wood interior. Just feels like a place you won't be rushed while enjoying your breakfast and coffee. The menu is vast and there seems to be a choice for every appetite and dietary restriction. Size of the cafe is great, it's big enough to accommodate a crowd but not so big that the noise level takes over the room. The wait staff is friendly and given the moderate size of the cafe the servers are always close by. Because of this service has never been an issue for me unlike some places where you might not see your server for long periods at a time. Prices are fair and portions reflect it well. I stop in when I'm on a blueberry pancake kick and rarely am I able to finish the plate! read more

In 3 months, this has become my favorite place to be/eat mainly, because of their owner J. She's always in and about talking to guests letting them know who runs the place and myself + frequenter friend eat it up. This last time, she seriously, lectured on following through with things and eliminating, "will try to" from my life. Won't forget it. The first time we met J, she gifted us each a scone for the road which was super appreciated. Both of us did the same and saved them as long as we could because they are as solid as they are large. The durable-exterior, consistency with subtle, inner softness alongside the rasp/blueberry or lemon is so good and can snack on for over a day. She makes a point to let you know the baker has been doing it 30+ years. We go there because it just feels like home and get the all-day breakfast each time since the vibes never fail. read more

We went here on a rainy Thursday evening and it was so cozy and perfect. We ordered the chicken peanut soup which was very peanut-y and perfect for rainy weather. We also ordered the burger and grilled chicken sandwich with side of salad. I'm a huge sucker for rustic toasted bread which is the type of bread the grilled chicken came on. So good! We ended with a chocolate scone and it was hugeeeee enough for the three of us to share! Unfortunately, due to hunger, the only food picture I remembered to take was of this lovely scone :) Will definitely be back to enjoy some more scones! read more

Wow! This place was super busy, which I figured was a good sign. The coffee was but the food was not great. I ordered the Betty Bene. The bread and veggies were cold. The Hollandaise sauce came in a ramekin on the side in a fairly small portion and was also just lukewarm and tasted kind of sweet vs tangy and creamy. My dining partners omellette looked better than my Benedict so maybe try that if you come here. read more

The Pomodoro and chèvre plate is to die for! The house glass of wine tasted like boxed wine.

3rd Coast Cafe is the most relaxing, most down to earth, and tasty cafe in the neighborhood! This little cafe us quaint in size with coffee, lattes, teas, and coffee shop music. They also have a menu of breakfast and lunch items ranging from pancakes and omelettes to BLTs and burgers. I had the breakfast tacos which included eggs, avocado, mozzarella, and pico de gallo on a flour (or corn if you choose) tortilla. It was delicious! The tortilla even had a little crisp which made the taco crunch Throw a little hot sauce on them and it's perfect!! read more

Good food on point! Came here for breakfast the stuffed French toast with sourdough is amazing and highly recommended. The everything bagel with lox is very good and lighter. Tasty food, good beer and wine selection, friendly staff...I live in the neighborhood and frequent this Cafe, never been disappointed.

I heard so so many great things about this place from people in the neighborhood that I had to try it! My mouth has been watering over the idea of their scones for days. I finally tried one and it was incredible. I only lament not being able to get to my pancake because the scone was so large and filling. They make everything in house. From the service staff to the real flowers on the table to the food, it is abundantly clear that the owner takes deep pride in her establishment. Tucked away in a basement level of a building, this cafe/wine bar is cozy, old timey and has something for everyone - from my solo date with a book in a booth to a larger family that came in. They have two bars and an expansive/ gorgeous coffee bar with a wine rack behind it. I had to stop back in for coffee this morning and they filled my personal cup which I sincerely appreciated. Great overall value and experience for your money. I cannot wait to try it again! read more
