Wonderful burger! Also a fan of the Cuban Bowl. Very nice staff. Homemade soups that are tasty and creative

It was really too early to have a full breakfast. I opted for a LATTE and their 3RD COAST SCONE. Scone was gigantic and delicious. Wish I could have eaten a full breakfast. The other tables food looked delicious, and the staff was super friendly. ENJOY! read more

We have spent the majority of our family events and weekend brunches at the Coast. It's one of our favorites - so it was a natural choice to have our son's rehearsal dinner there. Janet and her team gave us great ideas and made the night so special and intimate! Yummy food too! read more

Ive been to 3rd Coast Cafe a couple times and my experience is always pretty good! They have all of the classic brunch options, their service is generally prompt, the seating options are satiable, and the prices are great. This place is perfect if you're in the area and really want to grab some good breakfast. I probably would not go out of my way to come here, but would definitely come back if I was around! read more

One of my favorite breakfast spots! Today, I enjoyed the vegetable hash with eggs, sunny side. It was delicious. Very attentive service and excellent coffee too! read more

Been in move back mode to my home Chicago it was too hot to cook and I had read excellent reviews on 3rd Coast I decided to stop there wearing no makeup or bringing my glasses to read the menu. I ordered the diablo cheese steak which made me think I chose poorly all my life for Not pairing with mozzarella The sandwich was huge while I ordered the pizza as a back up should the cheese steak not be good. Now I am very picky about pizza as everyone in Chicago is it was so wonderful I brought home every leftover I appreciate that their staff was fast, friendly and had very reasonable prices even during dinner so I am looking forward to stopping back soon to my new go to place in my new neighborhood! read more

This is such a low key and comfortable place, with great drink selections and plenty of variety on the menu. I had an indecisive moment here that I was surprised by. It's also clearly a neighborhood favorite...we went on a Friday for a random late lunch and got the last table. The hash browns were just what we've been missing--for my fellow southern transplants, think Waffle House but roughly a million times more crispy--you can feel the love in these for sure. We started with the Chèvre and then I had the Italian Beef and Husb had the Pulled Pork hash. Not one crumb was left. Polished it all off with an apple pie a la mode and immediately we were ready for a nap. read more

Service is great. The food is excellent. I had an Italian Omelet for Saturday brunch and the Italian beef in it is the quality you want in a place like Chicago. They serve it with a side of marinara which complements the mozzarella and Italian beef combo well. Overall, it's a nice little spot that doesn't take reservations and doesn't need them. read more

This place is as comfortable as a favorite pair of shoes. You expect folks to call out your name as you walk in and take your seat, welcoming you. The menu is comprehensive and every bite is delicious. For breakfast, everything our party are was perfect. Smoked polish sausage, fresh baked bread, melt in your mouth pancakes, an omelet packed with goodness and an extraordinary breakfast sandwich rounded out our sampling. For lunch, everything is great but the tuna melt will change your life. I can't say enough about how delightful this cute little spot is and I encourage you to check it out!! read more

My grandma has lived and worked in the Gold Coast for many years and this is my first time here. My sister and I picked up breakfast this morning, the omelette was just okay but the service was exceptional. Gabriel gave us water while we waited and chatted with us. We're only in town for a long weekend otherwise we'd stop back for a cup of tea and chat with Gabriel. They had gluten free toast which is a huge plus in our book! read more

I have been coming to this place to eat for years, just loved it, took many friends there, told many people about how charming it was and still is, yet today I was so frustrated by the lack of common courtesy by the waitstaff I finally walked out with out even tasting anything, this is a first for me as I think it was best to just go and leave. My order was so messed up and the man who served me the food when I asked about what was missing, he just waved his hands in the air and walked away to find the waitress who glasses were hanging from her top showing her boobs and cleavage just looked so unprofessional on top of a messed up order.........the place wasn't even crowded as I timed it right for an early dinner......yep, dinner got lost in the shuffle and I was hungry. Not a happy ole lady with my favorite place to eat! read more

We are neighborhood regulars and the whole family loves the staff and food. Quick, quality and great atmosphere!

Accidentally happened upon this. Had a most delicious breakfast bagel. The staff were all friendly and accessible. Just did take out this time. Will definitely stay for the next meal! read more

Great service and terrific Italian beef sandwich! (Diablo beef per the menu). Cute place too.

Perfect neighborhood cafe! The coffee is outstanding. I had an omelette with ham and cheese and it was great. I liked that I could get fresh fruit or hashbrowns. The fruit wasn't all melon and grapes. It had some super fresh pineapple and banana in it. :) I really enjoyed my meal until...*dun dun duuunnnn* the table next to me ordered a scone and I immediately looked at my husband and said "Dang it. I should have ordered that." They looked so good. I am sure the woman eating it could feel me staring at her breakfast. lol read more

Stumbled upon this spot one Sunday while my husband and I spontaneously decided to get brunch and it's our new go to! The staff is incredible! Super friendly and always checking on you to see if you need anything, but not too often that they feel overbearing. The food is UNREAL! I order something different every time and it's all delicious. My favorites have been their eggs and French toast and my husband is obsessed with their eggs benedict that has a pesto hollandais sauce. Their portions are quite large though, so if you're not super hungry, recommend splitting. Same rule with their scones - super yummy but large...my husband and I now split one when we go. Will definitely be back! read more

Truly a neighborhood joint. Have been coming here for years and the staff has made the place feel like a place of family. The servers get to know you and become more like friends. On top of that, this place has the BEST HOMEMADE ARNOLD PALMER OF ALL TIME. I had two, could've had six if my bladder was larger. The Cajun Chicken Penne is to die for and the caesar salad rocks my world. Other fantastic items-- BLT, all the burgers, fajitas. But everything is delicious. This is a great place to come with your friends, family, or even just alone for a meal at any time of the day. Sometimes I even pop in late at night for a scone and they throw in some whipped cream. If you want a local, neighborhood feel, amazing food, and a superbly friendly/warm staff, this is the place. Could not speak highly enough. Keep it alive. read more

What a cute breakfast spot! We stumbled upon this place after we discovered hash hash a go go was closed. We quickly turned to Yelp and figured we would give it a try. Boy am I glad we did! I just loved the entire experience. From the decor to the wait staff to the food, everything was spot on! Everything on the menu sounded amazing but I ended up with the eggs Betty. I love eggs Benedict but sometimes it's too heavy and this option seemed much lighter. It was so delicious I savored every bite! My husband and mom also loved their meals (I don't remember what they got). In my opinion, if you are looking for a cute delicious breakfast place, this is your spot! read more

A good breakfast/brunch option in the Gold Coast. Personally, I prefer the faster service and more varied menu of the Original Pancake House on Bellevue and Rush. But 3rd Coast is a solid choice. It has a very low profile. When you walk by on the sidewalk, you think it's just a coffee house or something. I've never had to wait for a table. I ordered the full stack of the blueberry pancakes. They were good, but, you know, they were also pancakes. I'm not going to wax poetic about batter and blueberries. They also sell "sticks" of bacon, which is just an obnoxious way to say "bacon." Each strip is $1.50, but they were very, very good. Decor is a little tacky. read more

Nice place! See my thoughts below: Wait Time - None! Went in for Sunday brunch and though the place was full, we were able to seat a group of 4 right away. Setting - Pretty nice! A lot of tables in a small space make it pretty loud in here, but we were able to converse easily. Food - Delicious would be an understatement. I got a farmers omelet and wow was it great. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Price - Reasonable, nothing too crazy. For a Sunday Brunch in Chicago, it was far from expensive. Service - Bad. I won't even sugar coat it, just bad. Our waitress never brought out a side that we had ordered, and neglected to check in on our table. The next time she came around was to drop off our check, and that was a fiasco. We had 4 people who wanted to split the check by our respective dishes, and she refused to split the check, instead saying to just write down who got what and give her a stack of cards. We also brought up the fact that the side dish needed to be taken off since it was never brought out, and we were then met with a snarky attitude about how it's our fault and we should have just asked for her to bring it out. If you have read any of my other reviews you'd know I'm a stickler for service, and this place did not meet expectations. It really pains me to not give this place 5 stars, but I just can't based on the service. I'll try this again and hope for a better experience. read more

This is the best spot in Gold Coast. I come here weekly. Schnitzel Mondays are the best

What I liked about this place was the menu had many options that had something for everyone. I also appreciated that they had several vegetarian options on the table. Likewise, I think it is very reasonably priced for dinner options. I opted for the Caesar salad, cilantro bean soup, and Caprese sandwich. Yum! While I agree with another Yelp reviewer, this place is by no means memorable or a "must have" experience, it has great food, fast service, and is tucked away in the Gold Coast neighborhood. read more

3rd Coast Cafe is a GEM! I'd been living in the Gold Coast/Old Town area for a couple of months when I stumbled upon this place in search of a quick, delicious dinner. The speciality cheese board is seriously the best cheese board I've ever had -- no fluff, all delicious things! I also had the diablo tacos and thought the spice level was perfect! On top of that, the staff is incredibly kind and informed on all parts of the menu. I was also impressed by the installments of local artists' work displayed on the walls. It's also worth mentioning that the prices are extremely reasonable for how great the food is! I can absolutely see why so many Old Town folks are regulars at 3rd Coast Cafe. read more

Great food. Scones are can't miss. Omelettes are very tasty too. Expect a bit of a wait on weekends, but worth it!

So let me start by saying, that this order is based on a carry out order I made on a Friday night. Called for carry out for my friend and I, who ordered our meals and was told it would be 20-25 minutes. As I was visiting her apartment about 5 minutes away, I left after 10 minutes and arrived a bit early. When I entered the guys at the register were very friendly and welcoming, and even better, had my order ready, 10 minutes early. The service was great and guys inside were friendly (as stated in prior sentence) and professional and efficient. The food was excellent. The hash browns were out of this world with crispness and were hot and flavorful. All the other food we got was great too. We decided two bites in, that we would definately be going back to eat in the restaurant soon. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to come here for brunch upon a recommendation from the hosts of the Airbnb we were staying at. It was only a few blocks away so we decided to give it a try. It was around 11 am on a Wednesday, so it wasn't too busy. Since we weren't that hungry, we decided to share the Mexican steak and eggs (grilled skirt steak, melted cheese, corn or flour tortillas and pico de gallo, with hash browns). Everything was really bland. I don't think I would have been able to eat it without the hot sauce or ketchup that they had. We ordered the steak medium rare, but it was really medium well. The only thing good about this place was probably the coffee. They also seem like they have pretty good drink specials each night, but we didn't get to try that. So my advice? Stick to liquids only. Or at least avoid the Mexican steak and eggs. read more

The hostess needs to take a training on the etiquette of greeting guests. 1.) You can learn to smile and say hello 2.) You do not yell from across the bar "how many?" 3.) body language says a lot. You can remember to not scowl at guests and certainly if you don't feel like seating anyone, don't blatantly hand off the menus and seating of the guests to another coworker. The food however, was ok, and the waitstaff was friendly for the most part. read more
