Average bar. Drinks are over priced, even for Beacon Hill. Grab a flash light to read the menu if you want to eat. Food however was very good. read more

Visiting Boston and stopped in here for a drink. Awesome place with a laid back atmosphere for a beer or five. In particular, my bartender Johannes was amazing. What a great guy. read more

We were delighted to find our way to the bar here on a chill (and chilly) Saturday night. Tables were full in the restaurant area, but the bar was comfortably full without being packed. Cocktails were ok. Beer was cold. I'll be back. read more

Went here for the first time with a few friends. The cocktails had no prices on the menu but my Mule and my friends' Ward 8 ended up being $11, not as bad as I thought. Yet, a little strange. Overall good experience. We each had a drink and shared a side of fries. Good fries! The seating was a bit cramped but we were able to find a 4 top after waiting like 10 minutes! read more

Popped in for a lunch meeting. Was pleasantly surprised. Good selection on tap (I had an amazing watermelon wheat beer), the atmosphere was casual, the prices pretty good and the food was pretty stellar. I had a grilled cheese sandwich on wheat with sweet potato fries (which were thin, crispy and far superior to most I've had elsewhere). The whole bill was under $15 with tax and a healthy tip. Not bad! read more

The go-to hangout place for the State House/Beacon Hill crowd. During the school year though, the place can get overrun by annoying Suffolk students. Good for a couple (or several) drinks after work. Try the Dark and Stormy or Prohibition Punch. I know some politicians that go here who swear by the Chicken BLT sandwich. I prefer the steak tips or the grilled chicken cranberry walnut salad with goat cheese. Overall, a great neighborhood bar and restaurant with nice and friendly staff. read more

The food is always good and consistent. I've primarily had bar food and snacks, but when I have had a salad it's always been good.

The hangover burger left me drooling!!!! Highly recommend also the sweet potato fries are to die for!!!!!

Small place by the common. Popular lunch spot for those working in the area but still fast enough service for those with limited time. I read on previous yelp reviews that the sweet potato fries were a must have. They really were some of the best sweet potato fries I have ever had! They were crunchy but also crumbly. The perfect texture. I had a special, it was a salmon burger with bacon and I think it was a roasted red pepper aioli (which came on the side -I was pleasantly surprised). My friend had the Caprese sandwich. We both finished everything and they were definitely not skimpy portions. Definitely will be going back to try their burger, and turkey club. Great lunch spot. read more

21st Amendment has a fantastic cozy atmosphere. We've only been during off-peak hours after movies on weeknights or weekend matinees, but the 21st Amendment always serves up great beer and delicious food at very reasonable prices. It's a favorite of ours whenever we're in the area. read more

Nice bar in a great location. Servers were very friendly. Be prepared to be surrounded by tourists.

This place has an amazing atmosphere and such friendly waitresses and bartenders. They are always making sure you have what you need and do it with a smile on their face. And the food is delicious! Highly recommend the sweet potatoe fries or the sliders. Lots of beers on tap and they have new ones every month. read more

Noisy, but great bar to meet friends for a couple of drinks. Dark and stormies are solid, as are their nachos (def big enough to share). Went on a Friday after work and had to finagle seating. The staff appeared super short at first, but after the after work crowd left, they were quite attentive. Perhaps it was a change in shifts..... Dark atmosphere, but cozy. read more

Super cozy and solid selection. I got a Shipyard Pumpkinhead and the bartender shook straight cinnamon over the top of it. Hint: it was not delicious. read more

Ambience was great and the drinks were very good! Pretty cozy, definitely going back sometime.

21st is one of my fave bars any night of the week. They have bomb 21st burgers and great buffalo chicken. Love that they are always open till 2 and have super friendly bartenders. read more

My bf and I love 21st! We live right next store and it's our fave neighborhood pub! The atmosphere is great for drinks with friends and the food is also delicious. Our favorites are the chili, steak tips, buffalo tenders, and sweet potato fries. The buffalo tenders are so filling we can barely finish them along with our entrees! We haven't tried the nachos yet but I hear they are the best around. We always brings friends and family in...definitely check it out. read more

I really like this place and find myself liking it more every time I stop in. The food is great, beer is priced well for a Boston bar and I LOVE the small/dark wood type setting. Plus having nice, neat and clean bathrooms is a huge bonus! read more

Stopped here for an afternoon bite - a couple of sandwiches and beer. The food was good and hearty, the beer cold and tasty, the place cozy. It was a bit empty but we really did not mind. Fair service. I recommend. read more

I went on Wednesday night and sat at the bar. It's a cozy little place and the bartender was very attentive. They stopped serving food just before 10 which was a bit annoying, but it was nice, laid-back environment. I'll be back. read more

Small and packs a punch. Went here for drinks with a date. It was nice and the bartenders were very generous with the drinks. The atmosphere is really great, although it could use a little lighting. It seemed a little dark. Didn't get any food, but I wouldn't mind trying somethings that are other favorites of other yelpers. read more

Last night was my first visit and I was happy with the service. I had three guests with me and there were plenty of open tables. I ordered the flatbread pizza and am definitely a fan of it. My friend ordered the hangover burger which was the special of the night and it looked pretty good. I will definitely come back again. read more

The 21st Amendment is one of my favorite places to go in Boston! The food is excellent as well as the large drink selection. The staff is consistently amazing, everyone is always extremely friendly and so diligent. The place's inviting ambiance makes it the perfect setting for a nice dinner (and drinks!) out with friends or a fun weekend night out in the city. This place definitely earns five stars in my book! read more

I love this little place. Tucked in Beacon Hill, it's your typical dark pub that's very cozy. One time, I sat at the bar and the other I was seated by the fireplace in the traditional dining section. Service was attentive, and the food was delicious. I ordered the chicken quesadilla for a meal, and it was filling and delicious. I also highly recommend the nachos. read more

Great atmosphere: you feel it is steeped in history, being right by the State House and all in dark wood like a pub in the UK or Ireland, and it looks equally authentic. The staff are on the ball, the food is very satisfying as pub food, and there is always some good craft beer on tap. Might get crowded at lunchtime, but quiets down during the afternoon, which is our time to be there. 3.75 stars read more

For a bar, this place seems to be more geared towards the happy hour crowd. We showed up at 9 and got very inconsistent service. They seemed to be flustered that we dared show up that late (to a bar!) They told us the kitchen was closing soon, but we were able to get buffalo chicken nachos. They were delicious! read more

21st is a great little spot. There is always a nice mix when it comes to the crowd and it doesn't hurt that their buffalo chicken nachos are amazing! Definitely on of my favorites for Thursday nights. read more

Now, I haven't been here in ages, but before I moved to Boston and passed this place on vacations (I was well under the age limit) I was intrigued and vowed I'd get there. When I moved, I only came a few times, but that's not because I didn't like the ambiance or anything--it's one of my favorite bars in Boston. (I was just a Crossroads and Cornwall's and, later, Plough and Stars patriot.) I need to get back, but I really dug this place a ton. I'm NOT sure that state reps and senators still go there after sessions or anything, but that would be pretty cool. read more

Excellent bar. I took the advice and had the sweet potato fries and they were just as good as everyone suggested. Well partitioned to have a few drinks with friends in the back area or hang out at more of the bar scene in the front. read more

Great place to visit on a day trip or for a casual lunch. Just don't expect to walk out afterwards faster than a walrus can lumber across a beach. Huge portions, great prices, great taste and friendly service. The sweet potato fries are perfection, and the drinks are poured with a heavy hand. Can't wait to go here again. read more

Right beside the State House - and it doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Great casual american cuisine. Tons of atmosphere. Place feels like it it was built the moment the pilgrims landed. Slight frangrance - but that comes with a 200yr-old building. You'll feel like a colonial American when you enter - and eat like one too. read more

This place was OK. As far as bars go, you can find better in Boston. Positives: - Drinks were well priced Negatives: - This is a bar. Not a club. It was a Monday night and the music was blaring so loudly I had to shout to be heard by the guy right next to me. Neutral: -The bartender asked me about 10 times if I wanted another. While I appreciate good service it was a little bit of an overkill. He was very nice though! read more

This is a pretty legit place to stop in for a few drinks and some appetizers. We had a great server who was a gorgeous and friendly blonde and quick to refill your drink. It has almost a mid-evil type atmosphere which I happen to really enjoy. read more

I like this place. I met up with some friends and arrived early, so I had a glass of wine at the bar. The service was friendly and low-key. We told one of the servers that, in a short while, we would need a table for a group of six, and she was very helpful in saving us a big corner table, despite the busy dinner rush. Even when two of our friends did not end up showing up, she didn't act like it was the end of the world -- she seemed happier to help us than to turn over tables. The food was pretty good as well -- I had a salad with goat cheese, cranberry, and loads of grilled chicken. I might try to stop in here next time I find myself downtown late at night. It has a good vibe for drinks and hanging. read more

Small cozy place with decent pub food. Varied menu with good options. I got the artichoke and prosciutto pizza which was good, but salty. The portions of all of our meals were good; we could have had leftovers. The staff was friendly but did mess up my friend's order. It was quickly corrected so no worries. It's a pretty good spot right near the State House and the Common. read more

So far best place ever. And we have only just ordered. Walked and they were slammed walked out guy followed loved Patrick s shirt asked why we left said hold on. Came back in got us 2 seats at bar. Now we wait on our bloody burgers as we drink a nice gray lady. Nick behind the bar is awesome!!! read more

Fun place! Friendly staff and clientele, and as a Texas native, the word "friendly" is serious business. The bartender made me a drink based on my likes...and when it wasn't quite what I wanted, he instantly took it back and made something else (PS: I would have drank it, I think he just saw that I wasn't thrilled, I don't have a great poker face) read more

Look for Paul, he's awesome!!!! He's super friendly and super personable!!! He make our boston weekend!!!

We loved this place! My boyfriend and I were here on 10/10/16, Columbus Day. We were only in Boston for the day, as we were on a Princess Cruise. After checking out the usual "Boston" things, we wanted to find something more local. This was the perfect place. As soon as we stepped in, we felt at home. The staff was great, the regulars were so friendly. It was Columbus Day, so lots of people were out of school and off work. The place was busy, but we still received excellent service. We are from IL, so we won't be back anytime soon, but I can guarantee we will make a stop at 21st Amendment the next time we are in Boston. Our drinks were great. We did not have any food, but the several plates I saw, looked phenomenal. Definitely check this place out! read more

21st offers great food and a fun atmosphere. I go frequently after work days to get a quick bite to eat and the staff is always friendly and accommodating! I've never had a bad experience with my food not being hot or exactly what I ordered which can be an issue at other restaurants. Also I can't stress enough how friendly and polite the staff is. This is not always the case in Boston! 21st is truly a great place to eat if you're going on the weekend with friends/a group to stay for a while or just by yourself to get a quick bite! read more
