1st Choice Movers - our last choice We called for an estimate and were told we would need four movers and two trucks. Two days before we moved, we called to confirm and let them know we needed them at our home early due to our closing appointment. We were told they would be there by 8am. First issue: Movers showed up at 11:30am and only 3 movers showed up. (apparently one called in sick and a truck broke down) Second issue: One of the three movers was completely high and as he said, "tired because it was early for him" (at 11:30a) One of the other movers was injured - he said he hit his head on our low ceiling and fell and hurt his knee. If that did happen, it happened right away in the morning because he was limping and in pain all day. We do have a lower ceiling going up the stairs... it's an old home. Third issue: The movers did not have any wraps or padding. Thankfully only one item was broken, but I did find that unnerving. Fourth Issue: The movers did not bring our boxes into the house. They put all of them in the garage. We were told it was getting "late". It was around 8p, but they were 3 1/2 hours late.... and short a mover. Fifth issue: Furniture was not put together. The movers did not put our furniture together, broke our bed and kept most of the hardware. It took 1 1/2 weeks to get the hardware back. One of the movers had the hardware for all the beds (3) in his pocket. When we asked where the hardware was, he dumped it on the floor and walked out of the room. We had to decipher which hardware went to what bed and put the beds together ourselves. Sixth issue: Getting reconciliation - We contacted the owner and the person who gave us the estimate. We were told they would bring the hardware out to us and then do "an Investigation" on the broken bed and the beds that were not put together. The owner, Shawn H., sent us an email to confirm he was coming the night before, which was 1 1/2 weeks after we moved... he did not show. One of the movers showed up in his place and was over 1 1/2 hours late due to not having a car. When he came, he didn't know why we were upset and wondered why we put the beds together. He wanted pictures. The owner did call us while the mover, John, was there. He told us to write an email to Info@1stchoicemovers.com to have an investigation done. That was the first we ever heard that someone else, other than the owner, needed to investigate. Seventh Issue: We had to keep reaching out to see what was going to happen and if there was going to be a resolution. We were asking not to pay for the high mover... at least. Three weeks after we moved, we were finally told they would pay us $500 back and it would take 5-7 days. It has been four weeks with no deposit into our account. We have reached out multiple times with no response. I called last week and just asked for some resolution. Let us know what is happening. Nothing. We were repeatedly told this was not how they do business, and they wanted to make things right. However, time and time again we have seen this is exactly how they do business. Not once have they been on time. We have been told they would make this right and it never has been. I would strongly encourage you to look for another company. 1st Choice Movers is unprofessional, does not take customer satisfaction seriously and does not finish the job they promised. Worse of all, they emailed us they would reimburse us $500 to make things right and have now ghosted us. Our move was 4/25/25 and it is now 6/12/25 with no resolution. read more

Worst moving company we have ever worked with! First the showed up over four hours late. Then the new guy knocked over a brand new three three tier Craftsman tool chest, which was full of brand new tools. So they sent another truck with a more experienced guy to replace the "newbie". They all stopped working for a good 20 minutes, and stood around looking at each other. The replacement member knew what he was doing, took charge, and finally got things moving after an hour of monkeying around. And they only had 12 things to move!! Then they had to stop at Burger King to eat, before arriving at our new home, to unpack and finish the job. Ron, the owner was of no help at all. He kept telling us that they were on their way. Ron did this five times until we told him we want to cancel. We should have known, you get what you pay for. Quote was fair and made competitive when another quote was shared. The crew that showed up to moved smelled like weed but took care with our belongings and were loaded well within our timeline. Upon unload, a couple of mirrors that were not properly wrapped, were broken. The driver acknowledged responsibility and took the broken pieces agreeing to get replacement pieces and have them delivered to our home. After a week, we never heard back and called 1st Choice. They said the crew was a contractor and they shouldn't have taken the pieces. Said 1st Choice wasn't responsible. We are only talking about less than $50 in value to replace. Mediocre experience would not recommend. I have hired movers before so I have an idea of how the process should go. I hired 1st Choice a year ago for a last minute job. Two guys came that time and worked very hard. This year my experience was not so good. As many other reviews have noted, there was a lack of effort and I over paid for the service provided. I hired three movers for this move. I was going from a 2 bedroom, one office, townhome to a single family home. In addition, I also had a trailer at the new home to be unloaded. Everything was packed and ready to go when the movers arrived. After viewing the townhome, loading the truck was quoted by Ron to take approximately 2-2.5 hours. It turned out to be over 4 hours in loading. After getting the guys started, Ron left the site. Two of the workers took 4 breaks in the first 4 hours. I was not planning to do any work that day with the exception of un-assembling and re-assembling 1 bed frame. I had to help out so much that I was unable to do that. One of the workers talked for over 50% of the day. I had to pay the full rate regardless. A second trip was need to "not pack the truck unsafely" per Ron's inspection. I was not charged for a second trip rate, but I did have to pay for that additional 30 minutes of drive time. Total job time should have been approximately 5 hours, and it was 8 hours. Most of my items were not able to be moved to the rooms/space where I had labeled or would have expected them to be. I now have a 2 car garage packed full because I was unwilling to pay for additional time for mediocre work ethics. To sum up my experience, one worker asked what "bath" meant in reference to a label on a box. While their quote for the job seemed very reasonable, the lack of work effort made it a much more expensive choice in the end. Edit to add* I reached out to 1st Choice by email two days after my move and again 3 days later. They have not responded to my email requesting to make things right by the customer so I am choosing to post my review. read more

We used this company to help our daughter move and everything went really well. And just recently I bought a sofa and they were flexible enough to pick it up and deliver it to me. Bad experience. Was told arrival would be 9AM and didn't get there until 2PM. I understand that things carry over longer then expected from time to time... however, we were lied to about there 'arrival' 5 times. After our belongings sat in the front yard for 5 hours waiting on them to arrive they finally showed up with an extra mover. Thought they might be giving us a discount on the 3rd mover because of the tardiness... boy was I wrong. They then told us we had to pay an $60 an hour for the 3rd guy or he would simply sit on our property and watch the others work. So after realizing that we really had no other option and after the owner told us it would actually be faster to have the 3rd guy, we agreed. SLOWEST MOVERS EVER! Considering we had everything besides 2 couches and a TV already moved out of the apartment and sitting right by the parking lot waiting to be loaded you'd think it would be pretty straight forward 2-3 hour move... NOT with this company. One mover was more interested in telling jokes with another busy hitting on my sister in-law. Ended up taking the same exact amount of time they quoted previously but at the higher rate. They most certainly don't get the idea of customer service... they simply put the 5 hour delay as a risk you take when you hire them and that's not right. I understand things happen but the owner took no responsibility for the late arrival. If you tell someone your arriving at a set time... then you do it. If you quote the time it should take then try to be accurate. I feel like with all the people in a pinch right now due to evictions and job losses that they get people backed into a corner knowing full well they have no other option but to stick with them. It's honestly sad to hear that this man has been in business for 24 years... and has to be given a business lesson by someone half his age. Used them 4 years ago great service used them again this month and it took them 3.5 hours TO LOAD a 750 sq apartment that had everything boxed up and only needed two TVs, two dressers and a sectional couch wrapped. They gave you a reasonably price, but they came late and worked slowly. 2 hours job took them 4 hours. When I mentioned this to Ron, he got belligerent. One worker was flirting with my sister the whole time and the other moved one box at a time and whined about how he didn't have time to re assemble some furniture together at the second location because he has told his boss that the job was to be completed in three hours. Unfortunately, I hired Ron (owner), who is ARROGANT, talks down to customers, blames the customer IMMEDIATELY when you make him aware of notable problems with his employees and service, and the guy has the audacity to tell me I needed to take my issues up directly with his EMPLOYEE-SUPERVISOR instead of Ron himself - the owner?!?!? I never even dealt with his supervisor until moving day, and was given Ron's name from someone else. A subordinate employee of his who answers to HIM?!?!?! How convenient... I called Ron at lunch time (4+ hrs after starting) to tell him of my displeasure with how SLOW his guys were working at $165 / hour...Ron was told by me IN ADVANCE of his hiring I expected to pay between $600-800 TOTAL for our move which was more-than reasonable. Ron strongly recommended I hire a 3rd guy instead of just two at $115 / hour in order to try and achieve this, and I followed his advice. My end bill was $1,237...enough said. If the employees WORKED consistently and didn't stand around, or were properly supervised, I might have had the job done in this budget. I even made one of the movers aware, who had asked me just before 11 a.m., "when did I plan on them finishing the first half?" I stated by 11:30 a.m. at the latest, but they finished just the FIRST HALF move-out around 1:15 p.m. after much disorganization, wasted time, and a lack of supervision. After making Ron aware at lunchtime of what was occurring, he proceeded to deflect ALL I said - including, the open conversation carried on the job site of how Ron pays them $9 / hour (while I pay Ron $55 / hour for their time). I thought this was inappropriate, told him such, and he proceeded to tell me, "I wasn't packed properly and delayed them..." which is TOTAL B.S. I had a couple of remaining boxes I was still packing after their arrival at 8:45 a.m. as they dove right in, the best work they performed all day until about 10-10:20 a.m., and they NEVER had to wait on me or anything to be packed or lacked boxes and objects to take out to the truck during this move ALL DAY. Fact. At the end, I even questioned the time I was billed $41.25 for the workers to, "drive to and from lunch" which, after checking the limited contract I signed when they first arrived, says NOTHING about this unreasonable charge(s) most would never agree to pay. Ron and his supervisor have you conveniently sign an 'estimate' of charges up front, before the job commences, so that when you're unhappy at the end he can still show an agreement claiming you signed off before he subsequently writes the final figure and therefore doesn't need a final signature or approval. VERY deceiving and misleading tactic... After lodging my lunch-time complaint via phone, MIRACULOUSLY - the back half of the job took only 2 1/2 hours to complete despite damage being done to several of our items and a lost lamp part rendering it unusable (approx. $200 retail cost). I called and spoke to Ron right after they left to make him aware of the missing lamp part his supervisor, in my family's presence as witness, admitted they "dropped in the yard" and never attempted to find or locate. Ron said he'd check with his supervisor and get back....not a word since. Additional cost to us: $200+ for a new Pottery Barn lamp. Damages to the walls from banging, scuffing, and several other items too. I thought about contacting my credit card company to throw the lunch-drive charge and disputed times stated on the ticket into investigation, which would be an easy dispute in lieu of the manner for which the "contract" is handled and signed up front, but Ron and 1st Choice Movers just aren't worth any more of my time and money at this stage. 'What goes around...comes around', and I truly think Ron's approach and chosen methods will be his own demise after meeting him...and, based upon paying guys $9 / hour (hardly minimum wage) and charging them out at 600% mark-up, I doubt you'll see any regular faces working for Ron or his company. More unhappy customers come with a formula of inconsistency and turnover inevitably. I would NOT sign his agreement again, and I don't recommend 'pre-paying' as he charges your card an estimate before even beginning work while billing for the time for 3 guys - 2 of which are doing nothing, while writing down your credit card number and filling in this bogus agreement between the parties. Yet, Ron clearly blames (me) the customer, while he is overwhelmingly guarded thinking I'm somehow out to get him and screw HIM by "renegotiating" with him like others must have attempted who were also unhappy?? Yet, when reported to him, he apparently cares nothing about his employees openly discussing their nominal wages received in front of the customer as compared to his excessive overall charges? They were awful! They damaged a lot of my furniture and charged me from the minute they stepped onto my property. Ron charged me to fill out paperwork, then started moving my furniture and then again at the end charged me to fill out paperwork at the end.They said they only took a 15 minute lunch break but it took them over an hour to travel 6 miles to move into my new home. We had a horrible experience, were told the move would take 5 hours but took over 10. If my husband didn't help it would have taken 15. They advised us to have 4 movers, but then we only got 2. They arrived late, broke many things, including our couch. Owner, Ron stated would have a solution for our couch but did not bother to call us back as promised. I called to discuss my concerns about the dissatisfaction of this company and the owner, Ron, was incredibly rude, quite possibly the worst customer service I've experienced in my life to date, I was taken aback. These guys were so bad that I am writing my first Yelp review to warn people against them - Here is what we moved A 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment with 1 couch, 1 love seat, 2 ottomans, 2 tables a coffee table, entertainment center, dining table, 6 chairs, a bar, one king sized bed, one queen sized bed four bedside tables, 20 boxes (We moved 50 boxes ourselves before they showed up) , one TV, three desks and a chest of drawers Apartment on the 3rd floor with an elevator Hours taken for the move: 8 (2 man crew) Cost per hour: $115 We got fooled because their rates were low and they were available but beware they will take double the time to move you. When they started packing our things, the guys intentionally worked very slowly and took about 5 hours to pack basic things. They were having conversations with our cleaning lady, when I went down to the truck one of the guys was talking on the phone for an hour while the other one loaded up the stuff at a very slow pace. When I asked why he was sitting around talking on the phone he said he had to take care of office stuff. Then I started helping them move stuff to speed up the process! Now one would think that if you were SOOO careful moving stuff you wouldn't lose anything. They lost the screws to our bed so we couldn't assemble it, they scratched our set of drawers, they had moving marks all over the walls where the new apartment refused to retouch up. All the fixes will come out of our deposit. Debrief with the owner: So naturally I called the owner to complain, he was rude and started yelling at me! After a shouting match he essentially said he will do nothing about it and I needed to calm down. At that point he had already charged my card and I am not going to go to the court to fight this so I gave up. Conclusion: They will appear to be friendly and cheap and will have openings but be very careful of these guys, they will overcharge you and the owner will verbally abuse you if you push back on them. read more

Just an update/comparison I got and old friend and my friend's 18yr old son (about the same age as one of the hired movers) to help me move out of storage and into my new apartment. We were packed and ready to go from the the storage unit in 30 mins! My new apartment is a very large building and I was very far from the main entrance. Even so, from start to finish, it took us 2 1/2 hours for the whole move. Not 4 hours like the 3 movers I hired. Now I do truly feel like they were dragging it out! I hired 1st Choice Movers to move our 2 storage units and the largest items in our apartment. Throughout my conversation on Thumbtack with Linda, and on the phone I stated three times that I wanted 2 movers, not 3. I called and spoke to Ron a couple days before the move and the morning of, and both times I told him we only wanted 2 movers. He however, showed up with 3 movers and said that's how they were going to do it - and stated we would save money, I reluctantly agreed. These were the slowest movers I have ever used. I am a young guy and these guys were the same age - they are suppose to be professionals (who did this every day), and I could have moved us with 1 friend in the same time or less than all 3 of these guys did...I would definitely put my money on less. I would not recommend moving with this company - from my perspective, they pressured me into a third mover and then took their time to move us to make more money. Spoke to a couple co-workers who recently moved and they had great experiences with 2 people from Veteran Movers and 5-Star Movers - I should have asked beforehand but it sounds like those are much better companies to work with for anyone else reading this review! read more

The owner of this company is absolutely terrible. Was supposed to show up at 9am and continued to lie all day about when they would arrive and didn't arrive until 4pm at night. He argued with my fiance and I all day, the worst customer service. He told us he knew where he was going to the drop location then yelled at us for not directing him in our own vehicle the entire way, because he got lost and said he doesn't do GPS. He told his crew to drop everything in the garage and just leave. One of the movers was rough slamming boxes around and we were left with multiple broken dishes. He also charged us the full price, his estimated amount if hours10 minutes after arriving, before completing any work when payment is supposed to be due at the end with accurate hours. HORRIBLE SERVICE - READ THE REVIEWS! - I blame myself for not reading the reviews, I could have avoided an awful experience. My experience is almost to a T what others have mentioned below. I had a small office to move, Ron came to quote the move and with his "25+ years of experience" he managed to under quote the 1200 sq ft office move by more than double! Impressive. Quote was for $700-$900 max, and they charged my card three times (also signed my name for me, nice) for a total of $2,000. The moving team was extremely slow and mind you they arrived very late and started the job at 4pm after a full day of work (great I pay full rate for a few guys running on fumes)They didn't even finish the job of putting the furniture back together, as Ron said they would. Office furniture was left in pieces and I had to pay another company to assemble it. When I got back to the office, I gave Ron a call expecting him to be apologetic and eager to find a resolution, as my conversations with him up to this point had been great. He took a defensive tone and flat out denied any wrong doing - it was very obvious that he has this conversation on a weekly basis. He's not counting on return customers, just wants to rip people off when given the opportunity. When I told him I was not happy about the service he provided, he responded with "You're not happy? Oh do you think I'm happy?" ..... No? These are the kind of people who should not be in business. Avoid this company at all costs. Plenty of other good moving companies in the area. read more

They quoted me around $240 for 2 hours - I explained at that time I lived in an apartment with 2 bedrooms. And my final price ended up being $740!!!!!!! DON'T GO WITH THIS COMPANY! They are NOT ETHICAL!! First of all - I don't have that much stuff. The guys had no idea what they were doing. They were not professional movers. They were just two random guys that weren't even very strong. They were slow. And took lots of breaks to eat. At one point, one of the guys was carrying a lamp and that's it. What professional mover carries only one item at a time??? I also believe because I am female - they took advantage of me. I should have had a guy around.. I think they purposely took advantage of me cause I was female. Overall it was a horrible experience. I will NEVER go with this company again. They are HORRIBLE! And not only did they take advantage - but I just received a call at 7:20 AM with them telling me I was SICK in the brain. I will tell the world about how horrible this company is. I would give them zero starts if possible!!!!!!! We hired this company to load up our belongings on one day, store the truck over night and deliver it the next day. First of all the truck was supposed to be at my home at approximately 8:30 am on a Thursday morning. I get a call around 9 am the day of pick up from Ron (the owner) letting me know there was a mix up and had us down for early afternoon however was working on trying to get someone to my house as soon as possible. He tells me he is going to keep me updated on timing yet I didn't hear from him once about a status. Well at about 11:30 (3 hours late) finally they guys show up. I have to be out of my house by 3:30 to go to my final walkthrough on our new home plus I have to have my current home cleaned for it's final walk through. Well this did not happen, the movers were there from 11:30 am to 4:07 pm, thus making us late for our walkthrough and I didn't get a chance to finish cleaning my house. Not to mention the truck was not big enough and there were items remaining that they could not fit into the truck. Now if they had been onetime my husband and I could have been dealing with finding a truck to finish loading the remainder of the items at about 1 pm instead of 4 pm. Which we couldn't worry about until after our walk through and picking up our son form daycare. We were up until about 9 pm loading the truck we got. The next morning I get a call from Ron again at about 10:30 am saying that one of his guys was in a "accident" and that they were going to be late (they were supposed to be at the new home at noon). I say okay and then ask about compensation for yesterdays issues. Ron starts lecturing me about how some customers are okay with a apology and then others like me have to take it to the "next level". Then he goes on and on about how being a moving company they can not always be on time and that he doesn't need customers yelling and screaming at hime for hundreds of dollars off at the end of the day. He was the one yelling not me. He didn't care at all that he screwed up our whole day and cost us valuable time and money on the first day and is now doing it again. He finally agrees to give me 5% off the first day which ended up being a whole whopping $44.44 dollars off the first day only. He also tells me he is going to keep me updated on a time as to when the movers will be there. My husband had to keep calling back for an update as Ron didn't seem to care to keep his word. They finally show up at 5:30 pm which is 5 and a half hours late! The clock starts when the truck leaves the parking lot so instead of leaving at 11:30 am with no traffic and a drive time of 30 minutes it takes a little over an hour because they are sitting in rush hour, this ends up costing us about $75 more! I asked the movers when they got there if everyone was okay since there was an accident and they all looked at me very strange and said there was no accident, I was lied to by the owner of the company. My husband and I were very upset and Ron not once called us to apologize for all of this. I emailed 1st Choice movers the following Monday to let them know how displeased I was and we got an apology from Gail and she agreed to return $77.5 to us for the extra drive time and admitted they had the pick up and delivery times scheduled wrong on there side (even though I have confirmation emails with the correct times). We have yet to hear an apology from Ron for lie and treating us badly. read more

The worst moving experience i and my family have aever had, they called the morning off the move to say driver of the truck was sick and so couldnt come after 3 weeks of preparation and taking the day off work. after several calls back and forth they arrived instead of 8 am in the morning as previously planned , but at 330 pm and then proceeded to complain the entire time about how they couldnt lift or move since furniture and washer and dryer were too heavy for 2 movers and we need to pay for 3 movers. needless to say we paid them to get lost and i got my buddies to complete out the move. again the worst company EVER!!!!!!!!!!! Should be called LAST Choice Movers! They broke my new lamp and damaged my dining table and buffet and DENIED it! Owner was HORRIBLE to deal with. He would try speaking down to us. We were never compensated, it was a waste of time showing him the damage. They took WAY longer than they should have as well. STAY AWAY! I don't even know how they are still in business. STAY AWAY from this company. They use the fraudulent business practices of 'Bait and Switch'! I had Ron (Business Owner) come out to my house for a quote. I actually liked him when I first met him. He told me numerous times how careful his professional movers are, how his movers aren't from Craigslist, and how he has 23 years experience in the industry. What a fool I was! Ron walked my entire home with me. We went into EVERY walk in closet, the garage, the mechanical and storage room, I showed him all the furniture and artwork we had. I even said that I might sell some furniture so I am not sure they will need to move it. He stated, ' I am going to include it in the quote because it is better to expect it than be surprised, if you sell it and we don't use all the time in the estimate we credit in 15 minute increments'. I was told to move ALL the furniture and all the artwork (which I had started to wrap myself but he said they are careful and they will wrap) and he would include all the moving blankets and 25 wardrobe boxes, the move would take 10-12 hours with 6 movers and three trucks. I SPECIFICALLY asked him how confident he was with that quote and that it would take 10-12 hours with 6 movers, because I wanted to make sure I had a good idea and didn't want to be surprised. His response to me was 'I have been doing this 23 years and I know my estimates are good, if it is less time than I am telling you, we credit in 15 minute increments'. I then asked if that included the 'safe move' because he said that I needed professional safe movers to move our safe. He said ; it will take 2-3 men to move this and my movers can't, it will be $250 for that cost.' When I was provided the 10-12 hour estimate, I was so insistent on the estimate, that I asked if that amount of $3300-$3800 included the safe move to which I was told no, add that. Great, I had an estimate that a 23 year veteran in the business gave me plus a safe quote. Needless to say move day came. 6 movers came. 3 of them seemed to move at a good pace and kept busy, the other 3 moved VERY SLOW. Slow enough that I mentioned it to Eric (turns out to be son of the owner) multiple times. I even asked why the elevator wasn't being used, but they were taking one tote up the stairs at a time. Ron showed up halfway through (probably because I made a stink about signing a sheet that didn't have the cost on it) Keep in mind they had ALREADY started at that point and I was told it was industry standard and that nothing would be charged without my ok first. I stupidly gave my credit card number. As the day went on it was obvious that the estimate I was given was not a 'true' estimate. I had been bait and switched. I had sold large pieces of furniture before our move date. I had wrapped all but a few pictures myself, I had even wrapped some furniture myself. I did everything possible to reduce my 'estimate' of 3300 to 3800 bucks (plus safe move costs of 250) and yet I was charged almost $5000!!!!! My husband moved the safe himself, so that didn't even get included in that expense. Let me tell you, not even the whole house was moved! We had to leave a like new wardrobe from IKEA that Ron told me could be moved in one piece, 'we move these all the time, we can wrap it and move it in one piece'. Eric the son said it had to be taken apart, but that of course would take more time, so we were forced to leave it. We had to leave multiple shelving units in our storage area and cabinets in the garage because there was no time to have these guys take them apart and move them. REMEMBER, Ron SAW and ESTIMATED for all of those things, but we had to leave them behind. Then, we moved our items into 4 trucks (I rented 2 of them and they brought 2). They only unpacked 2 trucks and didn't put anything in the right rooms or put the bed together, they stacked boxes and totes 6 feet high in the middle of the downstairs. So they did only a PARTIAL move, forced us to leave furniture due to their fraudulent bait and switch tactics and my whole house move "ESTIMATED" at 3300 to 3800 cost me 25% more! I had to pay another company to come unload and move the other two trucks. Did I mention that I had 4 movers unpacking those trucks and we did it in half if not 1/3 the time their 6 movers took to unpack the other two trucks?! Also the packing job they did was HORRENDOUS! The movers who unpacked the two trucks took pictures so they could show future clients how they DON"T PACK trucks! We have multiple items broken or missing parts! I hope you read this and STAY FAR AWAY from this deceitful company! I have disputed one of the charges on my credit card and was yelled at and insulted by the Owners son and the owner. They don't know it, but I recorded the phone calls, so I can't WAIT to go to court or let the Attorney General and/or the BBB listen to the recordings. Please reach out to me if you want more info. Poor customer service, they packed wrong rooms, didn't pack the entire rooms they were supposed to and manager even agreed they did a poor job. Manager agreed to credit a small part of the job and then didn't follow through. He was a bully and would be very insulting trying to educate me on how they are improving their process. Would never recommend or use again. read more

Movers showed up early upon request and said they were going to take a one half hour break. When the move was complete they charged me for the half hour. In addition it took them an incredibly long time to move what limited stuff I had wracking up hours. And they forgot to move my Kitchen dishes and one full closet causing me to make two extra trips. Would not recommend this company unless your prepared to pay thirty percent more than a move should cost. That said, all the possessions were moved without any damage. read more

I hired 1st Choice movers blindly from a good quote off of some app called thumbtack. We set everything up, they agreed to meet me at 2 PM for my move. At a bit after 2 I was told that the crew was just finishing up in Edina (I am in NE Minneapolis) and they would be on their way shortly. 70 minutes later they called back and told me the crew was just finishing up in Edina, and would be on their way shortly. Now I was concerned, I was just given the same pitch as the hour before. An hour later I called them (it is now 4:15) and ask what is up, I've been sitting at my storage locker for over 2 hours. They told me, naturally, that the crew was just finishing up in Edina, and were on their way. I told him that it was rush hour, and even if they were on their way this time, they wouldn't get to me until after 5, 3 hours after I was quoted. At this point the phone guy got cross with me, and told me that afternoon times weren't guaranteed, and I was informed of this when I agreed to use them. I hung up baffled, and it took me a second to process that I just got yelled at for complaining that they were going to be over 3 hours late. I called them back and cancelled the job. I am not an unreasonable man. I understand that movers are in a line of work that can make being on time problematic later in the day. But 3 hours? At 2:00 it should have been quite obvious to the crew and the company that they were nowhere near "just finishing up" and they should have been honest about that with me. That would have made all the difference. I could have gone back to work, not burned personal time, and met them later. Instead they lied to me. I wish I could give them a negative 100. From the owner down to the movers. UNLESS u want them to call u and ask u to accommodate them after they gave u an appointment time and u make it work after the owner begged u to let them come early so their moves for the day are not thrown off and they can make money and u do so and they dont offer u any compensation or accommodation in return...or unless u want some slow ass movers who will milk the clock and break your things like they broke my mother's table. They had horrible body odor and probably dont even have proper working papers.. or unless u want a company that will make u pay ahead of time so they can hold your money until the job is finished even tho they don't even know how many hours it will take to do the job and tell u they will give u change when it's over...they are moving your items to your home so how will u not get paid. The owner is a piece of shit with horrible customer service and horrible business practice. Mind you I had not ever used these people until today and I will never use them again. If you want awesome and reliable movers u should go with super safe movers...we have used them many times in the past. They are PROFESSIONALS and even offer cash discounts and will go above and beyond to make ur move as smooth as possible. read more
