I requested help moving furniture and Adaptive Movers never responded. Not even to tell me that they didn't want the business.

Minneapolis moving services are some of the most expensive anywhere I've experienced. I hope that simply means that MN companies pay their labor well. We paid $1365 + $180 tip (optional, but come on) for a 3-man crew at $260/hr (2-hour minimum), and we obviously also provided snacks and drinks (they declined breakfast). For comparison, in San Francisco it was $250/hr for 5 men. The rate was with both the weekday discount and winter pricing. Weekend would have been $285/hr for 3 men, and $345 for 4 men. There was no trip fee. Robert, in particular was incredible; he moved a 6 drawer dresser down a tight stairwell alone. They needed to remove the front door at one point, but did so without issue. They also were happy to use our own furniture pads and plastic wrap (leftover from a cross-country move). At one point, they had to back the huge truck through the alley on icy ground, and had no problems. Also, it was easy to provide them inventory by email, and easy to reach them by phone. Lots of moving companies were annoying to contact, which is partly why we chose this one. One a few minor issues: one piece of furniture was shedding pieces of wood. I think they were reinforcements put on by previous owners. I didn't even know they were there, and it doesn't seem to have affected the furniture. They also forgot a couple of items in the yard, including a big smoker we had to move on our own. It's partly my fault, I told them we were good to go. Also, we were made to sign a lot of paperwork, and at various points it was for things like "you confirm that nothing is broken and everything has arrived" and, like, it's weeks later and I'm still unpacking, there is no way I would have known for sure. It's fine, because so far we have had no issues, but if someone did have issues it might feel like being strong-armed via contract. The guys in the truck were just doing their jobs, so it's the process that is problematic more than anything. We would use these guys again!

WARNING: Calculated Scams, Illegal Threats, and Financial Harassment…read moreI am sharing this to warn other Minnesota residents. Do not be misled by the "reasonable rates" mentioned in other Google reviews here; those reviews follow a suspicious template that does not reflect the predatory reality of this company. Deceptive "Bait-and-Switch" Pricing: I moved a simple 1/1 apartment (fully packed) to a unit only 18 minutes away. I was quoted $550, but once they had my items, they demanded over $1,300--a 230% increase. When I questioned this, the mover threatened to have me arrested, then backtracked and admitted they "couldn't do that anymore due to a change in state law." They are knowingly using illegal threats to extort money. Calculated Stalling & Incompetence: Intentional Delays: The move should have taken 2 hours, but they stretched it to 5. They started off quickly to look efficient, then hit a "wall." One mover disappeared for 25 minutes, claiming he "forgot my floor" despite holding my key fob with the apartment number on it. I've seen this exact "getting lost" tactic in other 1-star reviews on Yelp. Ignoring the Walkthrough: Despite doing a walkthrough, they completely ignored my bedroom closet. They rushed through the parts they wanted to do and ignored the actual scope of work I requested. Financial Harassment & Fraudulent Billing: Structured Charging: My card was hit with four separate, random charges ($612, $457, $329, and $272). This is a deceptive tactic used to bypass bank security alerts. Unrelenting Pressure: Since the move, their sales manager has ignored my requests for a fair resolution and continues to attempt unauthorized charges on my card for costs I never agreed to and cannot afford. After doubling my bill and threatening me with arrest, the mover actually expressed anger that he wasn't tipped. Final Verdict: This company is predatory. They use low-ball quotes to get in the door, then use intimidation and stalling to double the price. Check Yelp and Reddit for the truth. Avoid at all costs.

Customer service after the fact was not helpful at all. All they said was you signed the waiver so we can't help you. Lesson learned don't sign a waiver. They didn't even offer for the disposal fee on the TV's which is around $200.00. Not right I will not use them ever again.

I called several places, including my local garbage haulers, and all of them were roughly the same price for hauling and disposal of the two chairs. The thing that made me decide to go with College Hunks was their commitment to being as eco-friendly as possible. I appreciate that they try upcycling and recycling furniture and it only ends up in the dump if there is absolutely nothing else that can be done with it. A lot of places just pitch it right away. They also didn't charge extra for stairs, and offered to come out and give us a final price, and if we didn't like it, we could decline at no cost to us. We called to schedule a pickup with College Hunks and they were able to come that very same day! They arrived a couple hours after the initial call in the window they gave us. Dylan and Jayden were our haulers and they were quick and efficient! It was nice to finally be rid of these chairs that were doing nothing more than taking up unnecessary space. I would recommend College Hunks for their promptness, efficiency, and price for what you get. I will definitely call on them again the next time I need something removed that I would be unable to do on my own!

My brother-on-law moved 3 trailers full of stuff, going back and forth from Hugo to Blaine before they even got to my house the first time, we all left at the same time. I think they were intentionally slow so they could charge us 4x's the amount quoted to me for an entire day (which is only 4 hours for them). They also broke multiple items, even with their "insurance" I was not reimbursed for anything. I also had to have them correct the contract 5 times before they actually got it correct. This company is horrible, if I could give them negative stars I would. This company is so crooked they are a circle! Response: your crew did not take an unpaid lunch break, it was included in the time they added to my bill at the end. They also very much pressure me to tip them because, as they put it, "This company does not pay us very well." Not only was I quoted roughly $1500, and it ended up costing me almost $5K for the service, I ended up tipping them because they know where I live and I didn't want anything to happen to my wife, and your crew took more breaks than they actually worked. Regardless of what you say, your company is crooked, incompetent, and needs to be put out of business. My next report is to the BBB!
