Not your old school Vietnamese Cafe, but lots of tasty options! Their pho is flavorful and they have most of the options you'd find at a mom and pop pho restaurant. My main complaint is that they don't have the bottles of hoisin and chili sauce on the tables and usually only give you one small packet of each for your bowl of pho. This is especially an issue when I've ordered my pho to be delivered. That and the tiny, singular piece of lime. When I'm not craving pho, my go-to is the garlic noodles with garlic butter shrimp. To quench your thirst there are so many options for tea from fruit teas and milk-based teas, boba and other "toppings" or whatever you call what you put inside your tea. There's even a bar to get adult drinks Last request would be to add some type of sauce to their bao buns. I've ordered both the pork and chicken, and while the meat has good flavor and the veggies are nice & crisp, I feel it could use type of sauce or spread to add more flavor to their buns This spot gets pretty busy during lunch and dinner hours, especially with the takeout and delivery orders, and is in a busy part of downtown Long Beach. However, there is a parking structure right across the street with 2 hours free parking automatically provided. All in all, a great place to dine or order food from to-go. I eat here like 4 times a week lately, so I'm pretty biased, but this is my favorite local pho spot. I usually get the brisket pho with their meat broth and it's always consistently *exactly* what I expect. That's a hard trick for a place to pull off and they do it without fail every time. Their bao buns are good as well, kinda wish they came in single servings because threes too much, but they're always excellent. Very fresh and great tasting meat. The staff is always nice and the service is fast. I watched one of them help an older couple with the menu because they were on vacation and couldn't speak English very well. The newly constructed restaurant has a nice modern ambiance but is fast-casual. You order at the counter and they bring out the food. I did an online order and curbside pick up so I was a little disappointed because I didn't realize the veggies wasn't standard, and got home to just meat and noodles. The broth was good, and with some hoisin and siracha, even plain, it hit. I went back a couple days later and got the same thing again, but clicked all the right buttons to get the veggies and it was even better (I forgot to take photos that time). FINALLY. A delicious pho spot near downtown Long Beach. This is what we have been missing. 123 Pho is modern, spacious, and clean. Order at the counter and seat yourself. If you feel like partaking, they offer a few bears and a red or white wine. In addition to pho you can select from a small appetizer section, a wok/grill section, and tea/smoothies such as milk tea or a matcha smoothie. The pho comes with options. Wide or thin noodles (this excites me because I always prefer the wide), beef/chicken broth or vegetarian, and your choice of protein. I went with the beef/chicken broth and rare flank. The bowl took a bit longer than expected to arrive at the table but once it did it was a beauty. A large piping hot bowl was placed before me, filled to the brim with a flavorful broth, a heap of noodles, and the most meat that I have ever received at a pho place. I kept finding more and more of it as I continued to eat. My only complaint is that they provide the Sriracha and plum sauce in a small serving dish instead of leaving the bottles on the table. This makes me feel regulated and I don't want to have to hunt someone down if I want more, because no one checks on you once they deliver the food. I don't think this is authentic pho but it is definitely a good spot for pho. It is americanized pho thus the taste is cleaner and more like a chicken soup than the herby beefy chickeny type of pho you would get at a traditional pho in LB. The meat is a bit tough but it's less fatty than traditional pho. I like ot overal but the price is 2 to 3 dollars more expensive if you dare to adventure into a traditional pho shop regardless of the smell. I like their happy hour pricing for app and drinks. Really...a Pho restaurant in DTLB? Yeah. Decent, fast and good for the working lunch crowds in the area. The bowls of Pho are big! You can add 3 proteins (meats) in your order. Purely reviewing this for the food and service. Service was great and accommodating. Food on the other hand was just alright. It is slightly catered toward a certain demographic of client. And, spoiler alert! It's not catered toward Asian customers. You can actually see it in person on the first glance. So, the pho is a bit less spiced, less spicy, and the rice dish is on the sweeter side. I did not eat the garlic noodle but my group said it was a bit on a bland side. I think for Long Beach area, this is sufficient. But, if this place located in Garden Grove, I don't think it will survive the competition. Is it bad? No, absolutely not. Is it good? Not really. I was super excited for the food and that we beat the long line that came after us. It's a pay and they bring you the food type of place. Pretty easy and simple. My boyfriend's banh mi looked pretty good, but since I grew up with legit banh mi's it wasn't my kind of bread. It looked a bit too fluffy, but it's looks more than a foot long though. My boyfriend didn't complained and enjoyed it very much. My vermicelli rolls were good, except they kept falling apart before dipping the sauce. I guess I could've poured the sauce on it. The bao buns were good, but not great. I felt that it was a bit dry and the pieces of meat were too big, IMO. Things kept falling out and couldn't get a proportionate bite. This pho place is very modern and trendy located in DTLB. I discovered it through some new friends in my new neighborhood one late night after Art Walk. It was so perfect coming in here after some drinks to have a bowl of Roast Beef Pho on a chilly night. It was phenomenal! The broth was made to perfection. My exact order was the Thin Noodles, with only Roast Beef in the Chicken/Beef Broth. I was in heaven! My boyfriend and I enjoyed it so much that we went again the very next day (a little hangover cure needed). I decided to be a little more adventurous with my ingredient choices. I had no idea you were allowed three ingredients. This time I picked chicken, veggies and fried tofu in the chicken/beef broth. It was okay, but I wasn't too happy with the tofu and the chicken. My boyfriend said the rare flank was the best. I'll have to stick to the red meats next time around. This place has beer on tap and other drinks. Parking is free in a two hour lot nearby. This is the 3rd time and I'm here and spend over $45 for two overpriced dishes that's bland and no flavor whatsoever? I swear the beef soup is just with beef powder and some salt and pepper. What's more mind blowing is that they barely give you any noddles for a $15 pho dish. I only ate here the 3rd time because I was desperate and wanted to give them a 3rd chance. The pho here tasted amazing! The broth was very rich, and the meat was very tender. I like how you could choose three proteins so that you can have a variety of meat that you wanted. I don't really know how this place is getting such good reviews because I was NOT happy with my bowl of pho at all :-( I was hoping to find a good pho spot in Long Beach instead of having to drive all the way to Westminister but this place fell really short for me. I ordered the pho bo vien through doordash and my boyfriend got the pho tai. The first problem I noticed was the lack of 'sides' they gave - they gave only 1 small stem of basil for each bowl! Then I also noticed that there were mushrooms soaking in the broth of the pho, so the beef flavor of the broth was completely overpowered by the mushrooms. Personally, I have never had fried tofu and mushrooms in my pho and was a bit confused by it and didn't eat any of it because it wasn't good with the soup/made the pho not good, especially because I didn't order the pho chay. What also was disappointing was the lack of bo vien that was given, I think I only got 2-3 halves of bo vien (which I'm wondering why, because that's the pho dish I got)!! The noodles were okay, the broth was lacking, and I wasn't happy with my pho at all. I ended up not finishing and threw most of it out because I didn't like it at all. I think that if you're used to growing up with homemade pho by your mom, auntie, or grandma, you definitely won't like this pho place and I recommend going to Westminster instead for your Vietnamese dish. read more

I know I am spoiled by great Vietnamese food of Northern California and most parts of LA. I also know that ordering Vietnamese food in a predominately upscale community is a red flag. Since I have had Pho and Vietnamese food at least a 100 times ( including all over Vietnam ), I feel that I am somewhat qualified to say that this food was a total flop and not satisfactory. When it comes to Pho, it's actually the broth and not the noodles, meat, veggies, etc. The process of making the bone broth takes hours upon hours and has a ton of ingredients, which include meat, bones, herbs, spices, etc. It's usually rich and fragrant. This broth was meat flavored water. It was bland and the soup was mostly ruined because of the poor quality of the broth. Meat portions were tiny and this restaurant did not have some regular options for meats for their beef Pho, which are usually available in most Pho restaurants. I understand that each restaurant has a choice to do their "version" of a dish, but I'd call it a "version", rather than Vietnamese Pho because that is really misleading. Now onto the spring rolls. I know how to make those myself. To some it's super easy, to some it's hard, but essentially it's an easy thing to do. These were the biggest ( not in a good way ) spring rolls I've ever had. Their size was obnoxious. They were stuffed with insane amount of noodles and whatever they had inside as the option ( i think we got shrimp ), was almost invisible in comparison to the amount of noodles. They were so thick and unpleasant, and almost too big to fit into ones mouth. We also got pork Vermicelli and sadly that whole dish, while a very simple one, also lacked flavor, imagination, and presentation. The reason why I didn't give this spot one star is because all the food appeared to be fresh. So if you are looking for authentic Vietnamese food - do not eat here. If you are looking for a Vietnamese-inspired, or an American "take" on Vietnamese dishes, then you may be giving this spot 5 stars. The prices were outrageous for the amount of food.
