The Churro Kouign Amann is one of my faves, but today they also had Apple pie, original and buttermochi. Always regret not getting more once we finish them all! Best macarons in my humble opinion, my daughter's fave is cookies and cream but I love the guava and mango. Shout out to the associate that assisted me today, she was so nice while I called my daughter to ask for her flavor requests. Normally I would not make anyone wait, but the stop in was unplanned, so I really appreciated her patience and kindness. Great service and yummy goodies!

Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I drove past this familiar logo of HiBlend Health Bar & Cafe and had to stop by because it was in an unfamiliar location. This cafe used to be in the Samsung Plaza on Keeaumoku Street, but now it's on Kaheka Street, near Don Quijote. The address is King Street, but the entrance is on Kaheka Street. The menu is still healthy and has expanded. That's why I got the HI Burger. It was a local shortrib smashed beef patty with Jack cheese, tomato, bacon, and avocado on a brioche bun (from La Tour Bakery), topped with garlic aioli sauce... delicious! All ingredients are locally sourced (when possible)! Service was very friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and polite. Thanks for answering all of my questions! The only obstacle would be the parking. I sat inside (because it was air-conditioned) and I faced my car because I didn't feed the meter... LOL! I ate quickly because I was really hungry... and it was such a tasty, satisfying burger! Note: there are only two counter seats inside, and 12 seats outside on the sidewalk.

I think I may have found my new forever spot…read more This was my first visit, and when I arrived the ordering area was at capacity, so I was standing outside. I noticed a QR code on the door for online ordering, scanned it, grabbed an outdoor table and figured I'd give that a try. I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Bacon sandwich, the Apple Pecan Salad with balsamic dressing, and a large cold brew. I paid online and sat outside for maybe 15-20 minutes. I never did figure out whether I was supposed to get a notification that my order was ready, so eventually I just went inside to check. Sure enough, it was ready. Easy enough, and everyone I interacted with was incredibly kind. Then I got home and opened everything, and THAT is when I became really impressed. I had included a note with my order that I planned to eat the salad the following day and asked that the wet ingredients be kept separate. They absolutely understood the assignment. Everything was packaged so thoughtfully. The Apple Pecan Salad was beautiful, incredibly fresh and substantial, with the ingredients carefully separated so it would keep. It wasn't some obligatory pile of greens tossed into a container. You could actually see the care that went into making it. The Smoked Salmon and Bacon sandwich was equally good. Fresh, generously filled and absolutely delicious. I ate half the sandwich and some of the salad and was completely satisfied. Between the two, I can easily get four meals out of what I ordered, which makes the value even better. And the cold brew? Wowzer. Robust and delicious! I think what impressed me most was simply the level of care. A sandwich and a salad aren't complicated foods, but doing simple food really well takes effort. Fresh produce, good ingredients, thoughtful preparation, paying attention to a customer's request, and putting out food that looks every bit as good as it tastes. I felt that in this order. I actually tipped 15% when I ordered because I was thinking, okay, this is basically grab-and-go. After I got home and ate the food, I wished I'd tipped 20%. It genuinely felt good spending my money here. This was visit number one, and they've already set the benchmark. I really hope they stay exactly like this, because what a find. I will absolutely be back.

The owner(s) also own Noods Ramen and Osonami bar, so I know they would have good food and appetizers. More recently with another friend, I ordered the pokecho, Japanese potato salads, pickled onions, and $5 sampler of the smoke ahi dip with crackers. So cute and perfect when you want to try several other things. Everything were good but my favorite was the smoked ahi dip with crackers. The pokecho was good but it was hard to keep the poke on the chips. I'm used to the one at Gyotaku with natto and avocado, and other ingredients which helps keep everything on the chips. The chips were good and the poke you can have it with shoyu base or spicy type. I chose shoyu. They have some grab and go musubi available too. They are located in the Liliha Food Court on North School St. Please try them out. The lady worker was really nice and helpful. I appreciate she kept my items I planned to take home on the side in the refrigerated case while I enjoy the pokecho and other items from the other vendors.

Only one way to find out if this poke is worth coming back for…read more I ordered the 2-choice poke bowl with Spicy Ahi and Hawaiian-style poke, along with pickled ginger and edamame. The poke itself was fresh and tasted pretty good. The Hawaiian poke was solid, though I wasn't a fan of the somewhat sweet sauce used on the Spicy Ahi. The biggest disappointment was the rice. It was cold and clumped together, which took away from the overall bowl experience. On the positive side, the service was friendly, and the shop is located inside the Liliha Food Court. The food court was clean, had plenty of seating, and made for a comfortable place to eat. While I don't think I'd order another poke bowl here because of the rice, the poke itself was good enough that I might consider ordering it separately in the future. For now, I'll probably stick with my usual poke spots.

I like coming here because you can eat while enjoying live music, which makes for a fun atmosphere. This past visit was a little disappointing though (first pic). I usually order the ahi medium because I like it a little more cooked, but this time it came out closer to well done.
