Rebel Swrrrl

This is the sequel we've all been waiting for. I'm SO thrilled to have a second outpost for these amazing treats that defy the conventional definition of gluten-free, vegan, and soy-free. These desserts need no labels because they are simply delicious, and purely decadent. You've got cookies, cupcakes, pastries, and all sorts of fun sundries with a punk rock vibe. For you deal seekers, did you know that they sell cut pieces of their Rebel Swrrrl AKA chocolate swiss roll for a bargain? You get all the best bits with the crisp ganache, tender chocolate cake, and whipped buttercream filing in a cup, perfect to grab and go. If you know me, I'm hella picky about my desserts, and especially cake. This stuff is flat out amazing, no labels required.

When we were finally approached the lady that approached us was nice and attentive. Our waitress was nice and friendly but she was manning a lot of tables for some reason. The food was pretty but ok. I got the original pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs. The pancakes came with strawberries, blueberries, bananas and syrup. The syrup was mixed with butter and it was a little too much butter which was off putting if you don't like a lot of butter. The pancakes were fluffy looking but tasted like a version of jiffy cornbread. I ate the fruit. The eggs were not scrambled really. I just felt like they put them in a bowl, scrambled with fork and put them on the grill but forgot to scramble them a little bit to cook the top of the eggs and then plated. The top of eggs was wet. I'm not a fan of raw eggs which happen to come out after I was done trying the pancakes and fruit. The ambiance was pretty in teal the music was perfectly light. It was my Birthday and I wanted pictures of all and everything that I ate it didn't disappoint in that aspect but they should water the plants.

We got the chance to taste the fresno honey whipped goat cheese with almond flour tortilla chips. The slight spice balancing with the sweet honey truly seemed to be a match made in the most plentiful garden anyone could ever witness. My parents got the grass-fed burger and the original fish tacos, while I got the farmhouse breakfast with brioche french toast. The french toast was cooked perfectly; a thick slice with honey butter and the best syrup from any restaurant I have ever had was served. The smashed potatoes in the breakfast were a special treat indeed. Imagine singular potatoes having the mashed potatoes inside. They were crispy and paired wonderful with the sauce. As for the tacos, they are certainly some of the best in the entire world. The burger was worth it on so many levels. It has the classic meat, cheese, sauce, and pickles, but don't be fooled. It on its own deserves five stars. We were amazed without a doubt and would gladly return to Picnik.

To find a restaurant that is gluten free and doesn't use rancid oils to cook food in is an absolute joy. Let me just say, this was everything I've been hoping for the past 12'ish years! The hostess was nice and seated me right away. I was near the pass so I go to see all of the yummy food as it came out. I opted for the Picnik Palmer and the chicken sandwich. I was so happy to see a GF fried chicken sandwich! The bun was great.... It didn't fall apart as so many GF buns do. The smashed potatoes were tasty. The Palmer was refreshing. My server was great. He explained that it was the first day for the new menu and he may not know it all yet. No problem. The restaurant itself was bright and airy. Very chill. I'm sure I'll be back on another work trip to try all the other amazing foods!

Absolutely love Uchiko! My boyfriend and I first visited Uchiba earlier this year, and this time,…read moredecided to use a Resy credit at Uchiko and partake in their omakase special. After a discussion with the waitress upon being seated, we were able to clarify a request for my omakase to be vegetarian. My bf was able to partake in a little bit more food, but I was solely satisfied with the dishes I got, even when I shared it with my bf. The meat dishes that my bf got that I couldn't have were: - Beef slices with fat-cooked fries (I don't see why the fries had to be cooked in fat, but oh well) - some individual fish-based sushi pieces - poke crackers - shrimp skewers The veggie dishes I got to have included: - mushroom vegetable rolls with a sweet sticky sauce - sticky rice donburi style dish topped with greens and mushrooms soaked in soy sauce - avocado nigiri pieces - veggie roll with mango sauce - thinly-sliced mushroom - tempura kabocha squash - cold black sesame soba noodles Dessert was a delicious ice cream sandwich and a unique dessert that had a graham-cracker-like crust, cream, and topped with cilantro-flavored crushed ice and pineapple topping. We came at happy hour (4-6pm) and omakase was only $60 per person. And with the Resy credit, we got $100 off---an absolute gem of a deal! Our waitress was super friendly and really helpful in making sure I had delicious vegetarian options. Can't wait to come back!

What we were served was lovely, and I can't complain about the taste as it was excellent. However, the price rounded out to roughly $20 per plate per person, and those plates were not worth $20 a pop. I left hungry and underwhelmed, there should have been at least double the amount of what we were served on each plate. The dinner for 2 had everything served on a single plate, and honestly it felt like we were being served a single portion for double the price. Sorry Uchiko, but you need to do better. There are plenty of way cheaper restaurants in the area with bigger portions, as good or better taste, and lower prices. I would not recommend for omakase.

Bird Bird Biscuit - Queen Beak

We ordered the Firebird chicken biscuit sandwich, and it was absolutely incredible. The spicy chicken breast was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the combo of fresh dill mayo, house pickles, and cilantro tied everything together so well. Every bite was bold, fresh, and seriously addictive. And the biscuits... unreal!! They were so buttery and flaky that I couldn't leave without taking some home, along with their house jam. Easily some of the best biscuits I've ever had. If you're in Austin, this is a must! No question!

Our daughter used to live a few minutes from the Lamar location, but we've also been to the OG Manor Road location (as we did today). I've yet to try something I didn't like, but the favorite is Bird Bird Bacon. The biscuit is all you could ask for - flaky, buttery, a bit of salt - and if you can't eat it for a little while, it's still good (not all biscuits age well - some are only good as they come out of the oven). The "bird" in this case is the egg, over medium so it doesn't run all over the place, but not dry like a hard boiled egg. The generous stack of bacon is smoky but not overly so. All together, it's an amazing sandwich. If you're hungrier, I suggest the Queen Beak or Theodore. Check the www site for details and click on the Story link too. The chicken is crunchy and fried perfectly. For me, it's a lot to eat, but I have indulged on occasion. Finally, you need to try the Dough Doughs. They're biscuit balls fried up like donuts, about 3xthe size of a donut hole and covered with cinnamon sugar. Absolutely amazing. (I've tried to replicate these at home between visits, but mine are not as good.) Go. Enjoy!!
