I have ordered two custom cakes from Baked by Amy's, and both came out beautiful and delicious. I've yet to experiment too much with their flavors (although I hope to soon), only opting for the Mexican Vanilla cake with buttercream icing. For the second cake I ordered, I added pastry cream in the middle and it was superior. I wanted to gift my coworkers with a little holiday treat! I sent an email over to Baked with all my order. They emailed me back with confirmation. Showed up Monday night and my order was waiting for me. I loved the fact that these shortbread cookies were individually wrapped. Which made them perfect to pass out to the coworkers. I made sure to have Christmas trees and also snowmen to add a little variety to the cookies. I received many compliments on how cute they were and how delicious they tasted. We used to go to the old location and we've had the cupcakes and the thres leches cake, which I ordered for my boyfriends birthday one time, and it was delicious and moist. So of course for my birthday I wanted a cake from BAKED. Looking at their instagram I saw a strawberry thres leches cake and I knew I wanted that for my special day to share with friends and family. When the cake arrived I was so disappointed. The cake was falling over. They charge $5 for each succulent and I wanted one. They looked like bushes instead of succulents. The cake was DRY! Choc strawberry/Oreo strawberry: 2.9/5- Honestly, couldn't' tell them apart because felt both were a little odd-tasting. Not even another stick of butter could save it. My impression of these cupcakes is like that old tootsie roll commercial 'how many licks does it take to get to the center of the tootsie pop?' Love that Baked by Amy's is now on Ubereats! Their chocolate cupcakes with brownie bits are the best thing to order from bed on a Sunday morning. The gingerbread cookies are also moist and have just the right amount of icing/sprinkle application to compliment the cookie. I still maintain that the shortbread cookies would be 100x better if they were not saturated with thick, chalky icing. I know they look beautiful and are quirky, but please add an offering where the shortbread shine on their own. read more

It greased out in the bag and was inedible when I brought it home. I feel I missed the memo on this one. Definitely a bonus star for being a bright, cheery, and colorful venue, but the cupcakes here just didn't speak to me. When I bite into a dessert, I've got to hear angels sing and shit. Of course it's all subjective: The lemon/blueberry thing was a little too cream-cheesy for me, and the Mexican Vanilla was simply very white. Nothing wrong with that. I love Amy's. I love the Austin-ness of it, the unique flavors, the weird hats (depending on location), the awesome "catch a scoop!" game (depending on location) and all the awesome people you meet. So when Amy's stepped into the bakery game - you BET I was going to be there. The interior is fun - decked with beautiful cupcakes, cake pops, macarons, cookies, bars, and cakes. I really enjoyed the huge black board at the back of the store and the high bar-stool seating - super pinterest-chic! We showed up at the end of the day (rookie mistake for a bakery) so unfortunately, our cupcakes were a bit dryer than they had probably been that morning. So, while I didn't particularly enjoy my cupcake, I'm going to chalk it up to showing up a few minutes before close, and try again earlier in the day to give a better review. However, the cake balls/pops/whateveryoucallems? Amazing. Highly recommended. Moist, dreamy and a hit - I took a box of them to a party I was headed to, and they did NOT make it through the night. ....There aren't enough good things I can say about this place. You need to try their cupcakes, stat! We came in here the other day because I saw an ad in the local newspaper for Baked and I was totally sold based on their cute logo (go ahead, judge me). Their storefront was as cute as their logo and the staff is as sweet as their baked goods. The girl who helped us came from behind the counter to give us the grand tour of cupcakes, talk about great customer service :) Some of the cupcakes they had that day were the tres leches, chocolate tres leches, Boston cream pie, Reese's, lemon blueberry, chocolate mint, and lots more that I can't even remember. Their macaroons looked amazing and their cookies are HUGE. We ended up walking away with a tres leches (one of the top sellers) and a Reese's cupcake. They wrapped up our cakes in a gorgeous box and tied it with a bow - so professional. Some advice for those who take these cupcakes on the road - make sure you have a utensil to eat them with because they're large, in charge, and destined to get your face ooey-gooey if you dive face first into it. The tres leches had beautiful berries on top with a light whipped cream. The cupcake was soaked with condensed milk goodness and had a wonderful berry filling. Much more than I could ever expect from a cupcake - it blew me away!! The Reese's was so chocolatey and peanut buttery... the richness of the cake was unbelievable and the crumbled Reese's on top brought it all together. Needless to say, I left that place in awe of its amazing tasting baked goods and their wonderful service. Strawberry shortcake cupcake. That's all you need to know. Ok, well maybe there's more. This is such a cute place to get your sugar fill! Great customer service as well. From cupcakes, macaroons, cookies, cake balls and bars (rice crispy treats and brownies) there's something for every dessert enthusiast. I recommend sticking to the fruit flavored cup cakes over anything vanilla or chocolate. The strawberry short cake has a jam or preserved in the middle and overall is much more moist than their vanilla almond, peanut butter and chocolate cakes. The macaroons here are HUGE. Way bigger than most places I've seen in Austin. For $2 a piece it's a good deal. My only complaint is that some of the actual cookie can be a bit on the crunchy side rather than a soft crisp. The more I eat cupcakes, the more I realize I suck at eating them. I had the s'mores cupcake. It almost beat the one I had in Los Angeles from the cupcake ATM. I was really delighted with it but it totally crumbled in my hands and got everywhere. This says two things. The cupcakes are moist and you should put in a bib. I had a couple if their macarons and this is why they only get 4 stars. I see that many places are trying to get into the macaron game. Macarons are one of the hardest cookies to make. This is why in my mind, if they aren't coming out right, don't sell them. Go perfect your method. These macarons looked good, tasted good but the cookie left something to be desired. The cookie was crunchy. The majority if the cookie was a big air bubble that made the macaroon just crumble in your hand when eating. Overall, stay for the cupcakes, not the macarons. read more

Amy's baked is located in Northwest Austin next to the Amy's ice cream location. Oh yeah, it is also located next to I Fly. I like to come here on Fridays to get 2 cupcakes for five dollars. This is also a great place to come for amazing handcrafted original cakes. Check out the pictures I took of their Halloween cakes. The area is open and you can see them making the cakes by hand. Sometimes it is very hard to find parking. I actually park at the main event and hike through the back area when I am desperate for a cupcake, macaroon, or brownie. I'm just updating this review on November 20. Amy's bake is amazing as they are getting ready for the holiday season. I was going to snap a picture of their cakes but now they have pies. This place is adorable! Hidden next to Amys ice cream is baked by amys! We run an Airbnb and like to leave little gifts for ours guests, I came for the Austin shortbread cookies. They're massive for the price, double the size I thought they'd be an individually packaged and so cute! I grabbed 2 of those for our guests and then 2 cupcakes for my boyfriend and myself. Not sure of what the cupcake I had was meant to be but it was a white cake that almost tasted like a snicker doodle, it was light and fluffy not dense or overly buttery the frosting was creamy and not overly sweet and it was stuffed with fresh strawberries. Yum! One of the better cupcakes I've ever had, you don't feel gross after eating it. They had samples of rice crispy treats at the register which were super good and the entire place smelt of fresh baked brownies. Will 100% be back! read more

Its my birthday today and I really wanted Boston Cream Pie. I haven't had much luck finding a place that had them. I googled "where to find Boston cream pie" Then this glorious bakery popped up. I love Amy's icecream, so I was surprised I'd never heard of this place. I was SUPER excited that they had Boston Cream Pie cupcakes! They are filled with delicious whipped cream and vanilla custard or pudding. Of course because of my birthday, calories don't count, so I had to get a Strawberry Shortcake and Snickers cupcake too ;-) The shortcake brought back childhood memories. in typical amy's fashion, the service is friendly and accommodating. the space is bright and open. no seats inside (though there is room for a few so maybe that's coming), but there are tables outside serving phil's, amy's, and baked. there is a playground around the back side for the little darlings. i didn't see any macaroons on the day we went (a Saturday, around 2pm) - the selection included truffles ($2 a piece seemed a bit pricey since they're quite small but since I didn't partake, I can't say whether or not it's worth it), fudge, several varieties of cupcakes ($3 a piece), big rice krispy treats, brownie/blondies, and three types of cookies ($2 a piece). i saw a few full-sized cakes sitting in the case looking quite lovely. everything is artfully decorated. we had no trouble choosing a strawberry shortcake cupcake, a peanut butter/chocolate cupcake, and a chocolate chip cookie (as big as my face). everything lived up to my expectations and my sweet craving was definitely satisfied. the strawberry shortcake cupcake had a strawberry jam filling and was topped with a deliciously creamy strawberry "mousse". it was my fave of the three. jacko preferred the peanut butter/chocolate cupcake which had a peanut butter filling and topping with rich, moist chocolate cake. the chocolate chip cookie was good, and huge, but the least stellar of the three (and with the outstanding tiff treat's right down the road delivering warm, delicious cookies to your door, baked will have serious competition in the cookie arena). happy to have this brick and mortar bakery in our neighborhood. the hey cupcake trailer moves around a bit so we can't always find it - which on second thought, might not be the worst thing in the world...because now I know exactly where to go when I need some cupped cakes. read more

The decor inside is cute, everything is clean, and the baked goods looked amazing. But key word: looked. I got three cupcakes to go: red velvet, lemon berry, and mexican vanilla. The fork came out as soon as I got home, I dug in for a bite of each...and closed the box. "Keeevinn. I'm not eating these." "What? How are you saying no to cupcakes? What's wrong with those?? My family and I were next-door getting ice cream and the line was so long that Baked By Amy's was closed by the time we were done. Ice cream to go would have melted, so I wanted to grab a cupcake for my husband before heading back home since he wasn't able to join us. She hadn't locked the door yet and had just flipped off the sign, so we took a chance and went in asking if we could please buy one she had left and be on our way. She was SO incredibly nice and told us to take our time. The cupcakes are beautiful! I snagged a German chocolate and left the poor lady alone so she could close shop. My husband said it was rich and he enjoyed it a lot. I'm so grateful to her that she took the time for us when it was only an extra $3 in her pocket. Running across amazing people who do nice things for no reason is always something to brag about. When I got there I was very disappointed with the selection. They only had 6 flavors of cupcakes to choose from, plus a couple of other non cupcake items. This place will make you a believer in pumpkin cheesecake! We ordered a full cheesecake for Thanksgiving after having samples some at an event a few months prior. Delicious flavor, and an excellent price at a little over $20. I was SHOCKED! Cream cheese is not cheap, people. The service here was also great. In addition to our pie, we had some coupons for free cupcakes. I got the chocolate tres leches cupcake and highly recommend it. The lovely lady at the counter even gave us some pupstries for our pup. This shop is really adorable! They have all kinds of beautiful sweet baked goods which is basically my own personal heaven. I went there one weekend evening about a month ago. The atmosphere was nice and it was exciting to be around all the delicious-looking treats . The only negative issues I had with the shop were as follows: 1) None of the cupcakes or cakes were labeled so we had no idea what anything was. It looked great but it would be nice to know what things are. This might have been okay except that: 2) The employee helping us just kind of stared at us and waited for us to order and seemed annoyed with any questions we would ask. She didn't make any attempts to describe what things were or pick up on the fact that we'd never been there before and may like a little direction. We ordered pretty much randomly, and she boxed up our items and rang up our purchases in one of the most un-enthusiastic ways I could ever imagine someone acting in such a seemingly magical place. Really seemed like she didn't want us to be there or didn't want to be there herself. Bummer. I have a major sweet tooth so I will probably go back and hopefully things will be labeled better or there will be someone working there who is more eager to help. read more

My major issue had to do with hygiene. Both of the cupcakes we ordered were picked out with the cashier's bare hands. The first one, her hand ran into the case on the way out, causing it to touch the cupcake. With the second one, she actually got some frosting from my cupcake onto her finger. At $3.50 per cupcake, you can use gloves or wash your hands right before. The cupcake itself tasted pretty well (I had Mexican vanilla). The frosting is a bit heavy but overall it was good. This place is right next to my work so I go there quite often. I've tried just about every cupcake and cookie they have and they are all delicious. The staff is super friendly as well. I've come in a few times and they haven't had the one I was craving that day (Peanut Butter cupcake) so they've made it and called me the following day and told me they made it just for me. Since they are owned by Amy's ice cream, their cupcake concept is similar to Amy's ice cream concept. They switch out the flavors daily, so if there's one you want to try, you better get it right away. read more

I recently decided to change my review from a 1 start to a 3 star because Baked By Amy's reached out to apologize for the bad experience. They offered to make it up to me & remake another cake for me. I haven't taken them up on their offer yet, however I am pleased to hear they strive for customer satisfaction and that deserves a better review. Previous review: 5 Stars for the staff because they were very kind and I respect that kind of curtesy. However the quality of the cake is what receives 1 star. I ordered a 6" red velvet for my boyfriends birthday. Red velvet is his FAVORITE, so I wanted to find the best moist red velvet cake in town. I've never purchased a cake from Baked by Amy's before but a friend gave me macaroons from there for my birthday last year & I enjoyed them so I figured they would make great cakes as well. Turns out I was wrong :( The design was great, no complaints there, it was exactly what I wanted. But the cake itself was so dry that it tasted like dry leftover cornbread with red food coloring and cream cheese icing. When I first cut into the cake I could see it wasn't moist, then the first bite .... Ahhhh just so disappointing especially for the price point $35 for a decorated 6". Seriously it tasted like dry leftover cornbread :( I was embarrassed. We ended up taking it to the homeless down the St. to eat though so it wouldn't go to waste. First off I want to start by saying we'd gotten cupcakes here a few times and they were so good we trusted them with our wedding cake. Mistake 1. I scouted their Instagram, screen shotting a pic they had posted of a cake they did, which is also displayed in a picture in their shop. I showed that picture as well as just changing the bottom color from teal to black which the baker at the shop said was definitely doable. When we picked up our cake the flowers were not painted on like in the picture but were iced and super sloppy, I told her I did not want iced flowers. I promised my husband I would not stress our day Bc I wanted to really enjoy and not have that mess put a damper on our day. Mistake 2 I should've never accepted the cake. The girl who originally rung us up I guess did not file the order correctly Bc the girl we picked up from tried to charge us again until I had to tell her uhmm no we already paid. The prices in their shop would've made our cake about $70 plus a $15 art fee, however if they have to stack them in tiers they charge another $30 Bc it's for an occasion. Now let's get to the actual cake.... not only was the art super sloppy and not exactly what we asked for that THEY had previously done but the cake was crumbly, I don't know when they baked it but it had to have been in the fridge at least a day. Not moist, so dry we shared one piece and would prefer to not even give it to others. Our 12 year old daughter even took a bite and passed. I'm extremely disappointed and would never ever recommend trusting them for a special occasion. I would ask for a refund but the girls in the shop were not the most confident in any detail or abilities or policies and processes when ordering. I love Amy's ice cream and we've been going there for years but this Baked by Amy's is a very bad reflection of the company. The cupcakes here are by far some of the best in Austin. The ratio of cake to frosting is perfect; you won't have a pile of scraped-off, too-sweet frosting or a left-over too-dry-to-eat cake stump. The S'mores and Strawberry shortcake have been my favorite flavors, and I even had them make a few cakes for office parties in the Shortcake flavor and they were AMAZING. They're also HUGE, so make sure you go into the store and see what you're ordering first; I was ordering for 20 servings and I probably could have gotten half of what I thought I needed (based on the recommendations on their site). I kind of wish they had a better location (right next to the highway and iFly so the parking lot kind of sucks), but the shop and their t-shirts and other merch is super cute. read more
