I really wanted to like this place. Came during Valentines day weekend so had a fixed menu and fixed price. No choice. The service was SO bad. Dinner took over an hour and literally with prodding. Had to ask for the bread for the table. Had to ask for drinks. Had to follow-up after drinks after 20 minutes. Not kidding we had a 6pm dinner reservation and it took over 1.25 hours to get our soup or salad, not even the main course. Had to ask for the Brushetta after the main course arrived. 2 hours in and still no deserts. Had to ask to get our server changed to someone else. Was so bad the hostess discounted the meal, but it barely helped. Service can easily ruin a restaurant. Food. When food did arrive it was not right. Filet Mignon was well done for some, same with potatoes au grated. The steak was great, but this fiasco of service is wild. They had no prosecco wines, none. We were told they had no Coca Cola. I pressed them 1 hour later, and the new server found some. Some of this is just inexcusable and at this price point we will not come back. I don't have the patience for a 3 hour dinner meal, especially due to incompetency. Steer clear. read more

Z's Restaurant is a slightly upscale dining experience inside the Zermatt resort. While they do accept walk-ins, they also encourage reservations, especially during peak dining times. The vibe is comfortable, not over-the-top exclusive at all. My dining partner and I were able to walk-in on a Saturday evening, no problem. Service was subdued and attentive-not overly friendly, but gave us space to enjoy our meal without interruptions. I enjoyed the wagyu steak special and the Raspberry Smash mocktail. It was delicious! My partner had the chili and was surprised to find chunks of steak in it-very different, but if steak is your thing, you'd probably love it! The dinner rolls might have been the highlight of the meal. We learned that those are from the bakery next store and the server was happy to bring out more when we requested them. The prompt asks "What went well?" The food. The food was very good. My halibut was excellent, my wife's pork chop was probably the best pork chop I've ever tasted. We went here for Valentines and likely (hopefully) because I booked on line I didn't know there was a limited Valentines menu. Basically $100/pp but included an appetizer, a choice of soups or salads, (the lobster bisque was also one of the best I've ever had), a choice of 4 entrees and choice of 2 desserts. We came at 5:30 and glad we did. It was pretty empty at that time but filled up by 6:30 or so. We finished and left after 7:30. I overheard several complaints about the tempo. For us, I actually enjoyed it, though definitely on the slow side. The service was also a little lacking. So 5 stars food, 3 stars service. My first experience with Beef Wellington. It did not disappoint. I loved the layer of mushroom duxelle. And the outer pastry was cooked to perfection. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes and succotash. Their peppercorn steak sauce is unbelievable. We highly recommend trying this dish at this restaurant. This was served as a dinner for two so servings are large. We also have tried tons of other dishes here and haven't had any disappointment. The ambiance is nice-think alpine chalet. Our two little boys both got the kids Mac n cheese, and to our surprise it was a house mad delicious mac n cheese instead of the cheap kind you usually get! As for the adults, my wife ordered the Lamb with grilled cauliflower as her side and I ordered a New York Strip steak with grilled Brussels sprouts. We both loved our food and left the restaurant completely stuffed! The one downside to the service was that it did take a significant amount of time to get our food after ordering, so our boys became pretty restless, but that wasn't anything that youtube couldn't help solve. read more

My favourite part about our meal was the drinks. We ordered the mango and desert pear lemonade and also a virgin blackberry mule mocktail. I especially loved the virgin blackberry mule mocktail as it was so refreshing! However, the lemonades were also very fragrant and were offered in a variety of flavours. For the main dish, we ordered the beef Wellington. To our disappointment, the meat was almost rare. So, we were not able to finish it and had to bring it back home to pan fry it. However, the vegetables and mashed potato sides were tasty. The vegetable had a fragrant garlic smell and the mashed potato was also very garlicky. We had the Wellington with some drinks, a poutine starter and a cup of the soup of the day. She gives it 4 I give the full five. The Poutine was excellent might be the best I've ever had the fries were warm and crisped to perfection the gravy was tasty but very salty, and the curds were fun and squeaky. Soup was mild and salty, with a pleasant mix of veggies. It went well with the rolls, and made for a nice start We ordered a pair of mixed drinks (Envy and Hemingway Daiquiri). They were... disappointing. Small and boring tasting. Not worth the price. The beef Wellington was lovely. The puff pastry was crispy and so light. The beef practically melted under the knife. The red wine reduction sauce added a pleasant, earthy tang. The mashed potatoes didn't come with gravy, but they didn't need it, as they were buttery and light. We opted for the brussel sprouts w/ honey glaze, and those were wonderful. Cooked well, and mild flavor. The light sides made a great counterpoint to the rich Wellington. read more

We made reservations for the Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet. Outside some of the seafood offering, save your money and go to any chain buffet. Cold soup, gluey luke warm mashed potatoes, watery gravy, and less than desirable deserts...not actually palatable. All entrees had a weird flavor profile, like sausage in corn as an example. Ribeye steak was Amazing. I'm an admitted picky eater and most often I can make a better prime rib and rib eye home, but my world has changed now. This steak is in the same category as Ruth Chris and others. Not as thick of a cut maybe Covid or maybe chef. But also less expensive than the others. Grilled to perfection topped with garlic butter and the perfect crust. I have a new favorite meal and I'm pleased we didn't let the reviews on service change my mind. I was originally a little disappointed it was buffet only on Saturday night, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality. The prime rib was great and so were the desserts. The desserts were more European style in that they weren't overly sweet which we appreciated. The live music was an added plus too. While there are certainly better steak restaurants in Salt Lake, I definitely enjoyed this restaurant. I love salad and soup bars and was excited that they offered one. I did try their special menu of a $25 meal which includes unlimited salad and soup bar plus the entree. I got the steak. It was cooked correctly. My husband ordered the ribeye. You really enjoyed it. Both meals came with potatoes and vegetables. It was all really buttery but I enjoyed it. Like I said, I know you can find a better steak place but this restaurant it's job, is cheaper than most steak places we go to, and I always enjoy being up and Midway so this restaurant was a big win for us. read more

I paid $28 for Chicken Parmesan that was dry, overcooked and had hardly enough pasta to be considered a meal. Olive Garden serves better chicken Parmesan than this place. Our server was kind and polite however, was not attentive as much as she should have been considering it was a Monday and there were only 5 other tables with guests in the entire restaurant. Came here for a romantic steak dinner on a Saturday night... Strike #1: There is only a buffet on Saturday night. WHAT??? Never heard of such a thing! So, therefore no steak. Strike #2: Wife wants Moscato wine. It's on the menu but they don't have a bottle and waiter admits they haven't carried it for a while. Tried to recommend other wines but realized they didn't have it either. So, no wine for our romantic dinner. Strike #3: Buffet sucks and costs $32 per person. Strike #4: Lounge singer at a buffet. That was also a new one for me. And unfortunately, I hate to say it but she was not that good. It took away from the ambience vs enhancing it. Strike #5: The decorations felt like an old buffet style restaurant and not something that was quaint or romantic. So, $80 later, I had a cocktail and we left very frustrated and disappointed. Server came with only a knife and no fork?? I ended up using my salad fork! For the pork schnittzel, it tasted OK and a little to the tough side.
