You have to be careful selecting your dishes. Some are priced reasonably and some are not. I ordered the beet dip appetizer and was pleased with the portion size vs price. I then ordered the $11 portion of Sandra's salad. There was an $18 portion. I thought the portion I ordered would be a regular size salad similar to the portion served at Kneaders. To my surprise, it came on this tiny plate and was smaller than a side salad. I laughed at how small it was and was surprised the restaurant would charge so much for a half of palmful of lettuce with a little cheese. The portion size was seriously was about 5 bites. Their cost of goods (based on the lettuce you can buy from Costco) couldn't have been more than $0.20 cents. So I asked for a little more lettuce. Because I had previously asked for my dressing to be on the side, it was just lettuce. Our server brought another small portion and then charged me another $11!!!! So in the end, I paid $22 for a regular side salad portion. They should consider being a little more generous with their lettuce. I won't return and recommend you don't order their salads as a dinner entree. read more

I came here for a wedding reception about five years ago. Completely loved everything about my experience at Midway Mercantile. Location: Amazing. Atmosphere: Inviting and promising. Servers: Usually wonderful, but tonight our server had a massive bad attitude! I am not a hard customer, having worked in kitchens and been a server myself for many years, I think I'm fairly leniant and patient. Put this experience taught me a serious lesson. The scallop "special appetizer" was fairly revolting. Eight micro tiny scallops and a huge wad of sopping wet cheesy bread (?) in the middle of a tiny plate. Yuck. We ordered shepherd's pie, made with utah lamb. I was seriously excited. I make this at home all the time, ever since we went to Ireland. I was very wrong to be excited. I've eaten plain toast with more moisture than this shepherd's pie, and to top things off half of my portion was burnt. When I said something to our server, she just flicked her hip at me and said, "yeah, happens". Really? Midway Mercantile has everything that makes a mediocre restaurant glamorous, special and unforgettable, except for the food. Maybe they need a new chef, or they need to change the menu to a much more simple fare? Midway Mercantile could be amazing and definitely pull in five star reviews over and over, if they paid attention to the details a little bit better. Very disappointing. We won't be back. read more

Very cute restaurant down town Midway, we stopped by a a quick lunch on the way down from Sundance. The service was great, we made reservation so got seated promptly, they were very busy even during lunch hours. Reservation is recommended. The pizza was on a doughy side for us but we like the salad and I enjoyed my mussels and clams as it had a nice rich coconut and lemongrass flavors. Overall a nice stop over for a small town in the middle of nowhere. I am.glad we found it. Coming from California I may be a hard critics but I would imagine this restaurant is one of the better if not best out there. 3.5 stars for food 4 stars for service and ambience. read more

Midway mercantile is quant and cozy. I just wish the food was better. What we ordered Clams and mussels, this was the best thing we ordered, bread was delicious, broth was flavorful. Winter squash salad. Just okay, not much flavor or toppings Salmon tacos, again just okay, nothing special, no heat, and needed more seasoning Bison Meatloaf, we had high hopes, but it had a very strange flavor with mushroom butter sauce, which we are huge fans of butter and mushrooms, but this tasted off. Roasted dukkah salmon, the salmon was cooked well but a little overpowered by the dukkah, everything on the plate needed more seasoning, more salt, more pepper. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, I'd like to come back and try other items on the menu, but not sure I can talk the husband into it. read more

We try to eat here every time we're in the area. Servers are very helpful, well-informed, and attentive. On one visit the server reached out to his parents in Boston to get local recommendations for our upcoming vacation The food is consistently excellent with a great variety of both flavors and price. As a southerner, the shrimp and grits are terrific! We got them without the blackening. The greens were delicious, with a tang of vinegar. We had the hot fudge sundae for a birthday. I don't write bad reviews on restaurants, everyone has a bad day and I don't want to highlight someone's bad day. But this is not someone's bad day. The host here seemed to not like me and my group. I'm not sure why- but everyone in the group thought it was due to our race. We asked to be seated - 5 of us - and the host said the wait would be 30 minutes. It was a Wednesday afternoon. We could visibly see 2 empty 4 chair tables and there were 4 people seated at an 8 person table. But we asked if we could sit at the 4 person table and bring a chair over. He said no they were saved for reservations. We then asked if we could put our name down so we'll be seated when the next table is available. He said he doesn't do that, he suggested we leave and come back in 30 minutes and then IF there is a table available we can take that table. I was confused because he just mentioned the open tables are saved for reservations, isn't putting our name down the same as a reservation? It was pretty obvious this guy didn't want us to eat there and we weren't going to make a scene. Kind of disappointing but we had a great meal at LOLA'S STREET KITCHEN. The ambiance was pretty cool. We were taken to a patio area with temporary enclosures. There were space heaters that kept the space cozy. We were lucky to be seated right away on a Friday night. I order the shrimp and grits. They were extremely flavorful. They had just enough spice to enjoy, but not too much. There were plenty of shrimp and they were each pretty large. Even the greens in the dish were tasty. Highly recommend for a taste of southern cuisine. My wife ordered the sea bass. She was excited as she normally enjoys it. However, this time it was pretty bland in flavor. She loved the steak and everything she had last time, so we're keeping the 5 star rating. But skip the sea bass if you enjoy flavor. read more

Midway Mercantile was absolutely worth the drive from Deer Valley--honestly, it exceeded our expectations and ended up being better than any restaurant we tried in Park City. The food was outstanding from start to finish. We ordered the Wagyu steak special, hot honey pizza, and lamb chops, and every single dish was phenomenal. What really made the night special was the service. Les, the chef, came by our table multiple times to check in and chat with us, which made the experience feel so personal and welcoming. DJ, our waiter, was also fantastic--attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. This is the kind of place that turns a good dinner into a memorable experience. We both got medium rare and I will say the meat was definitely on the rare-er side and was a bit too bloody for my liking. After a few days of non-stop pickleball and time with the kids including mostly fast food for our meals, I joined some adult friends for a meal at Midway Mercantile and it was just what I needed. The restaurant is beautiful, service is attentive and personable, cocktails were made perfectly and went down easy, and the food was pretty great too. We shared a couple of appetizers (the famous bacon wrapped dates and a special vegetable app as well) amongst our group of four. I went with the seabass entree, which I was happy with. Others at the table had a crab cake pasta special (also a hit), and a steak and pork entree. The pork was the only thing that didn't go over so well. This is a hidden gem in this area and you should go out of your way to try this location out. We've been coming to the Merc for 6 years every time we see out in PC and now we have a place in Hideout. John is a great host and cares about his customers. Great consistent menu with a few rotating/new dishes (ie peach accents during season). Oyster selection is strong. Tons of Gluten Free options. All food from scratch is except the GF Chick Chacks which we are addicted to for my celiac daughter. Most ingredients are from within 5 miles it seems (local meats, cheeses, fruit, produce, herbs, etc). Pretty consistent server staff. Pricing has certainly increased like everywhere else, but we still feel it is fair. At the risk of driving too much demand, I strongly recommend. read more

Decided on Midway Mercantile for a special birthday dinner with friends. Thought the restaurant would be promising as the ambiance really was great. However we quickly realized there weren't a ton of great options on the menu. And when that happens? Rule of thumb is to always order the burger! While the burger was great, the rest of the dishes felt thrown together and not in a good way. Specialty pizza was no good, the orange chicken with lavender rice was a good second choice until we noticed the chicken was a thigh! Kinda random. I wish the servers were more engaging as we were celebrating a birthday. Refills took a long time and they just weren't attentive. Cakeage $25, they offered to cut the cake which was nice! What I found interesting is that they cut the cake in the back and brought out slices of it, did we have left over cake? Unknown. read more

My family of 9 and I went to this place after snow tubing, and it was an amazing experience. The staff was very welcoming when we first entered the restaurant and we were greeted by a man we believe may be the owner or manager. Our waiter was excellent, she was very accommodating, attentive and nice. We started off with the hot honey chicken pizza, calamari, and raw oysters and all were great! The hot honey chicken pizza was excellent and very flavorful. For main dishes we ordered the sea bass, ravioli (pasta of the day), fish tacos, lamb chop dish and others. The ravioli was excellent, very flavorful and fresh tasting. My family and I loved everything about this restaurant. The owner/manager came by to check on us mid meal and we greatly appreciated it. The chef is from New Orleans and so are my family and I so that was something extra special to us. From the service, ambience, alcoholic drinks, food and experience was amazing and I will be sure to be back whenever I am back in town! read more

I was looking forward to raw oysters, so when I ordered the "west coast" option, I found the taste overwhelming like seawater, and not in a good way. Service was excellent and speedy. Rosemary Gimlet was delighted. Grains and greens salad was also excellent. Good balance of grains and greens, and giat cheese was creamy and flavorful. Very nice ambiance there. How this place has a 4.2-star rating is beyond me. Personally, I'd give it a 3 at best. The food was just okay--nothing stood out or made me want to come back. I had pasta, and it was completely bland. My husband said his fish was good, and the fondue was decent. But the dessert? It tasted like it came straight from a store shelf--not made in-house at all. First of all, let me say that I am local and I love their food. It really is good. I've had many things on the menu and never been disappointed by flavor. Regretfully tonight was the third time in 4 months that I have ordered takeout, arrived home and realized that they had left out a substantial amount of the order. Shame on me, knowing that this has happened to me in the past here and for not fully checking the order however, they were busy and for me to stand at their tiny hostess stand and open each box would've been, quite frankly, rude. Mistakes happen, however when I called to ask if they had the rest of my order there was no apology. Just 'OK come on back.' Which I did, however, I had already driven 15 minutes each way the first time and now was 15 minutes each way again, and fought the dinner parking situation which basically means you park a few blocks away, so i spent over an hour driving then walking to get my takeout (that was supposed to save me time from cooking dinner.) In the meantime, the food that we picked up first was cold and my daughter who was waiting for her entree (which was in the missing part of the order) had to leave, so in the end didn't get her dinner. At pick up there was no apology, and even some questions about how many of an item we ordered (we were correct in the end.) We have been treated with this dismissive, too bad, attitude in the past when they have screwed up orders and it is really disappointing. To boot the medium burger was definitively rare, cold to the touch pink in center. I'm super disappointed because they do have good food, but I hate feeling this way about the service and continuing to support somebody that treats their customers so poorly. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The wait was a little long, and our table felt really dark (would have loved better lighting like small spotlights to brighten up the pretty larger lights). That being said, the food was all excellent and our waiter was great as well. The biggest surprise was how much we loved the weird fries! They look like thick potato chips but have the perfect fry texture, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. We've never had fries like these before and would come back just for these! My wife and I went here for our anniversary. Overall, it was okay. The ambiance is nice, and the service was friendly. My biggest issue is the prices. The appetizer was $17 for an apple and some cubes of bread. I got the special, ribeye Bolognese over pasta. I must admit, it was good. The steak was cooked beautifully, and the flavor was good. But for just under $40 for this plate, I would have liked it to at least fill the bottom of the bowl. I've never quite understood the fine dining experience of high prices and small portions. If I'm going to pay over $100 for a meal, I want it to blow me away. Sadly, I wasn't blown away. If the prices were half as much, I would have loved it and would definitely return. But for these prices, there are places within Heber Valley that I'd prefer to go to in the future. It was a fun, cute place, and nothing was technically wrong with the food. I was very much looking forward to our dinner - a combined birthday dinner for three of us and we haven't celebrated together for years. Unfortunately the experienced failed to live up to expectations. Service was pleasant but poor: Wine delivered and poured before cocktails arrived; Questions about the menu were hard to get answers to; Had to ask twice to get both starters; When the mains arrived the side of fries was missing and once again we had to ask. Meal quality was mediocre. Wagyu steak was overcooked - ordered rare and it wasn't even pink, medium plus I'd say. Sides were tasty but cool. The creme brûlée was very tasty but it had not been freshly prepared. Quality of ingredients is very good however the end result was sadly lacking. Maybe we just were there on an off night but the next time I'm in the Heber Valley I will find another option read more
