Lovely resort. Had reservation here and got seated on the patio, which felt cozy. Our waitress was very patient with our large party and went over the menu with us in detail. We ordered some appetizers to share and entrees afterwards. There was a very long gap between appetizers and entrees. We had been up early and we were pretty hungry so it wasn't the best experience. I tried the chicken sandwich, which was good. Very large portion. I also tried the corn chowder, which I thought was a little bland and lacked the usual thick and creamy consistency I expect with a chowder. read more

We had dinner at The Foundry Grill at Sundance tonight. I have to start with the parking situation because it's the first thing guests experience. The resort now offers $20 valet parking, and our interaction with the attendant wasn't particularly welcoming. It felt like an unnecessary and somewhat corporate change to what used to be one of Sundance's most charming and relaxed qualities. Once inside, our experience improved considerably. Our server was excellent--friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and paced the meal well. The service was definitely one of the highlights of the evening. The food was good, but it wasn't especially memorable. At these prices, I expect every detail to be dialed in: proper temperature, confident seasoning, accurate execution, and thoughtful presentation. Those small touches are what elevate a meal from good to exceptional, and tonight they weren't consistently there. Overall, we enjoyed the evening, largely because of the outstanding service and the beautiful Sundance setting. Where consistency is the most underrated luxury There are restaurants that impress you once and restaurants that earn your trust over time. The Foundry Grill has earned mine to the point where it has become one of my favorite restaurants in the entire state of Utah, and that is not a title I hand out lightly. The menu is short. If you come expecting a sprawling selection you will feel underwhelmed at first glance. Stay with it, because what that menu lacks in variety it more than compensates for in intention and execution. Every dish feels deliberate, every ingredient earns its place on the plate. The experience started before we even sat down. When we booked the table they asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, and by the time we arrived the staff already knew. That kind of seamless attention is rarer than it should be and it set the tone for the entire evening. We settled in and let the meal unfold at its own pace, starting with their muesli bread and herb butter while we waited. Simple, perfect, and gone before we noticed. The lamb flatbread came first. Hummus, pine nuts, smoked yogurt, radish, feta, and pickled onions, generously portioned and ideal for sharing. Then the corn chowder with potato and poblano pepper, subtle and deeply flavored. For the main course we tried the pork tenderloin for the first time. Cooked with bacon, grilled garden vegetables, and charred scallion salsa, it was good and well executed. But next visit I am returning to the Bucatini, the Halibut, or the Ribeye, the dishes that in my experience represent this kitchen at its very best. To close the evening they brought us the mango coconut cheesecake, compliments of the house. Light, balanced, and a genuinely lovely way to end a special night. Stopped here for lunch after a hike and loved our experience! We were seated out on the patio, nice vibes - surrounded by flower beds and sunshine through the rooftop shades. Our server Samantha had good recommendations and helpful tips on maneuvering around the resort to explore. The country vibe of the place makes it feel cozy and welcoming, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. We had dinner here twice over our weekend stay. Great menu, something for everyone. The service and atmosphere are welcoming. We shared the bison chili and Parmesan rolls. Caesar salad and steak for entrees and a side of mushrooms. The Caesar was so good and unique-kale, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, with shaved egg, not too cheesy or overdressed. Our family went for the Sunday brunch buffet. We had a complimentary $20/person breakfast for two people and a $100 resort credit from the Sundance Resort that we had wanted to apply the fees toward. My siblings and I - the three of us - got to go in and receive a delectable assortment of food in celebration of the holidays and wrap up for the new school year. We're very grateful for the hospitality and the service that had been provided. Sunday brunch buffet is only offered once a week. It reminds me of the food that is offered at nice club houses. There's an area for yogurt, charcuterie, steak, salmon, pasta, salad, omelette, gingerbread pancakes, and a vast array of desserts. Drip coffee, soda, and water are covered within the $55/person fee. We were seated in the area right behind the room dividers next to the front desk. The area is well decorated with Christmas decor. The sun streams in through the windows. A huge shout out to our server J was very quick and timely in checking in with us and making sure we were well settled. I originally planned to visit the Bearclaw Cabin to taste their famous nachos but unfortunately they were closed for the season. My mom and I had already driven to Sundance so we figured we might as well stop by the Foundry Grill and eat lunch. I loved it so much, I came back a week later with a friend! And she loved it just as much as me! We agreed to make it an annual tradition to eat here! I came here both times during lunch and had no issues getting in and the service was great. A= Appearance - The second time I came here they transformed the place with Christmas decorations and that made the experience even more special! Decorations go a long way! The fireplace gives it a warm, cozy feeling but it also sets the stage for a romantic spot! T= Taste - I am a mac n cheese connoisseur! One of the main inspirations for coming back was the famous bacon-onion mac. The bacon jam and sourdough crumb on top was to die for!! I could eat this and this alone for the rest of my life. I have never had a mac n cheese this good before and trust me I try a lot of mac n cheese. - It's not featured on this menu, but I split the Turkey Dip with my friend and it was a hit! It was a twist on a french dip with arugula (which I know sounds strange but was actually a great addition!) and not to mention it was on a fresh slice of bread! - Drinks: hot chocolate, mountain cooler, and gilded apple = amazing!! I would absolutely recommend all 3 of these! For a refreshing, cold drink, the gilded apple was my favorite. The hint of caramel was extra yummy! What a gorgeous location! Absolutely stunning. We had dinner reservations for a Tuesday at 5pm and were the first ones to be seated. We opted to sit inside, which looking back, I would have preferred we sat outside. Inside was stuffy and warm, where outside was shaded and had a breeze so even on the July evening, it would have been enjoyable. We started out with the cheddar bay biscuits and I loved that I could taste the celery salt in them. They were the perfect amount of salty and savory - honestly you didn't even need the butter with them. Then for my main course I opted for another appetizer and a side. The Whipped Burrata was so delicious. I love the balsamic glaze they drizzled over it along with the olive oil. I wish I had more focaccia to eat it with but no worries, I used some of the cheddar bay biscuits! The fried artichoke was about as you'd expect. I only wish some of the pieces were smaller. It would have been a better breading ratio. Lastly, we ended with the s'mores skillet cookie and that was the perfect way to wrap up the evening. Everything about this experience was 5/5!! We had a reservation for brunch for 8 adults and one child. When we drove up, they had parking passes for us with the reservation, so parking was easy!! The mountain views are breath taking! Timp is so pretty. Our table was ready a little early. They were able to fit us at one big table which was really nice. The tables had really cute little floral decoration on them. There is a server that comes by for drinks. I got a Diet Coke, and the brew was great!! They were prompt with refills. The buffet was spectacular!! There were so many different options. They had a yogurt parfait bar with granola and fresh fruit. The berries were REALLY good!! They also had an omelette bar where you could customize with different veggies and toppings such as guac and sour cream. It was fun to watch the girl making them cause she was really good at flipping them! They had a spinach and goat cheese egg dish that my BIL said was incredible. They had a variety of breakfast foods: sausage, bacon, French toast, red velvet pancakes (a personal fave), chorizo hash eggs Benedict, and bagels with cream cheese. They also had lunch options with a salad bar, pasta, and chicken. They had a carving station with prime rib and pork loin. The meat was really tasty with good flavor and cooked perfectly. I went to use the restroom while we were there and the halls have a bunch of cool old photographs that were fun to see. In the bathroom, they have complimentary tampons. We love to see it!!! Nestled in the stunning mountain setting, this place captures everything you want in a refined yet rustic dining experience. I ordered the bone-in ribeye--a beautifully seared cut of beef, served on a checkered wood board with grilled asparagus, a ramekin of au jus or reduction, and the creamiest bowl of rustic mashed potatoes I've had in years. They are rivaled only by my wife's home-cooked ones--high praise, trust me. The steak was topped with a generous dollop of herb butter and a sprig of pea shoots, and it melted in my mouth with every bite. The flavors were balanced, rich, and deeply satisfying without being overwhelming. The asparagus had just the right amount of char, and the potatoes were hearty, comforting, and perfectly seasoned. I've been coming to Foundry Grill for years, and it's incredibly disappointing to see how far the experience has declined. What used to feel like a welcoming destination for locals now feels like the resort only cares about hotel guests while pushing longtime patrons aside. The parking situation was frustrating from the moment we arrived. After spending nearly $350 on dinner, we were told to park roughly a quarter mile away, and the staff handling parking and the host stand were rude and dismissive about it. There was no hospitality or effort to accommodate guests -- just an attitude that locals are an inconvenience. For a restaurant and resort that many of us have supported for years, that treatment was disappointing and honestly insulting. Unfortunately, the meal itself was even worse. Three out of the four people in our party could barely eat their entrées because the fish quality was clearly poor and tasted spoiled or off. Not once did our server check in to ask if something was wrong, despite multiple plates being left nearly untouched. Drinks sat empty for most of the meal, service was painfully slow, and the overall attention to the table was almost nonexistent. Between the rude hostesses, poor service, lack of attentiveness, and unacceptable food quality, the entire experience felt careless and badly managed. It's sad to say because this used to be one of our favorite places, but the quality and hospitality have fallen apart. What was once a special restaurant has been completely ruined for us, and we will not be returning. read more

I ordered a prime rib and the server (her name is Elle R from the receipt), she asked us soup or salad, my understanding with that question would be that's included. But at the end, the bill shows house salad is additional $10, Caesar salad is additional $12. That's definitely a misleading. She shouldn't ask the question soup or salad if it's not included, she could have ask do we wanna add a soup or salad as a side. Honestly the dressing of the house salad wasn't that good so none of us even finish that. I am a foodie and eat out a lot. I had prime rib everywhere else like Flemings or Ruth Chris, and just had prime rib last week on a Disney cruise. The quality of this prime rib was bad bad bad. I requested a medium rare, and it's super hard, and hard to even cut it, with the steak knife, they way overcooked it. For the price I paid, it was a terrible meat. Usually from a high end restaurant, the server would ask if we are satisfying with the steak, the server didn't even come back to ask us about the food! She must be super busy that night but I didn't get a chance to tell her my prime rib was way overcooked. I had to stuff myself to finish that prime rib. Will I come back to this restaurant? No. Definitely a NO. Overpriced and not tasting good. read more

I like the idea of the Foundry grill more than I like the actual food. I wish there was an option to be able to order from the Owl Bar - as I feel like their options are a lot more affordable. Think we went on an off night and it was a FURNACE inside, would recommend outdoor seating. Appetizers were the star of the show, would recommend any of those on the menu. Service was just okay, servers seemed bothered when we asked for more ice (sorry it was hot in there). There's a cakeage fee -- $25 wish they would have mentioned that ahead of time. One of our appetizers was the bread with balsamic vinegar and not pictured we also ordered the charcuterie board the brussel sprouts. While it was all good, the charcuterie board was my favorite out of all of them. The toasted muesli bread with jam on the board was so delicious!! I ordered the Beef Fillet for my main entree per Sam's suggestion. While the wait for our mains took a while, the Beef Fillet was worth it! I've been coming to Foundry for years. The atmosphere and ambiance is my favorite, and the food is always exceptional. Recent changes have been made, and I could tell. The food quality isn't what it used to be, but it's still very good. Our table of 5 started with the following Their new honey whole wheat bread, with honey butter, absolutely delicious, soft warm, sweet. We all loved it. Dirty fries - quite possibly the best fries in Utah, with truffle aioli, runny egg, hello; amazing! Get them! Brussels sprouts- also a favorite with the soy garlic glaze and cashews, yummy. Beet salad, just okay, small portion, not a ton of flavor, hardly any beets, and very little dressing. Mains; Two people got the grilled chicken breast and two people were disappointed. The chicken was dry, not juicy or moist at all. Thank goodness for plane puree and au jus, otherwise it would have been hard to eat. Salmon was amazing. Perfectly cooked, lots of the flavor, and the accompaniment of the butternut squash and brussels was perfect, I just wanted more of it. Short rib, was soft and juicy, and delicious. The side veggies were wonderful, and so was the au jus. Bolognese- excellent We also tried the garlic mushrooms, and sadly I was disappointed with these. Never going back! We used to like going to the Foundry Grille. This time we were ambushed with a quarter mile walk in cold weather or paying $65 FOR PARKING!! They are clearly trying to cater to their new lodge guests, but apparently consider outsiders unwelcome. The food was decent with pluses and minuses. My trout was slightly overcooked, but the sauce made up for it. There are many places to eat out that are as good or better where you don't half to walk a quarter mile or pay $65 FOR PARKING. I went here for Easter dinner and I'm still bothered by it so I had to update my review at Foundry Grill. I previously had a great review for all the Sunday brunches I've been to, but Easter dinner was an overpriced mistake. We had a busy work week and didn't want to cook so we thought coming here would be a nice change for the family. I got the meatloaf and it was terribly dry. There was a small portion mashed potatoes and mushrooms with it so I couldn't use it to help with the dryness. This was the most expensive dish we got so I was very disappointed. I wanted soup but they don't have their soup listed, it's up to the server to let us know which she didn't and I forgot to ask, so no soup. The one vegetarian dish always default to some kind of dried fruit, random spice, yogurt or sweet flavor, never made to be comfort food or normal. Or they usually won't have a vegetarian options at all. The other meals were good, 2 of them kids meals the other just sides to supplement for poor vegetarian options. And few desert options. The service was subpar but I rated it well when I paid because they were open on Easter. Not a great experience for $180 dinner. If you go, I'd recommend only ordering sides. read more

I am admittedly a sucker for Sundance. I just love the atmosphere and how everything melds together to transport you to a a true "off the beaten path" resort experience. The Foundry lived up to this expectation for me. I need to rave about the bread service here. It was very good! I don't know if it was the butter or what, but something about it. Could've eaten another whole loaf. I had the filet of beef for dinner and ate every last bite (see photo). There was nothing at all to crique- excellent cook, sear, flavor, and compliments. Service was fine. I honestly couldn't tell you if our server was good... unobtrustive is a better way to describe it and honestly that's probably ok. Definitely a must when at the resort! read more

We had a lovely experience dining here for lunch yesterday. The only real unfortunate thing is that their normal location is under construction so they're currently serving out of the Lookout. We definitely missed out on the cabin type of ambience but the quality of the food did not suffer! Our lunch was delicious. The chicken Banh Mi was fresh and delicious. The burger & stew (soup of the day) were both yummy. The dirty fries were definitely the star of the table. These are a must try! I didn't love how the greens were shaved onto the top, it looked like grass and didn't taste like anything. We could have done without those & just wiped them to the side but it didn't stop us from devouring the fries! Our waiter was Justin and he was delightful to speak with. Overall a great experience.
