Three Lifts to the Top of the World One thing upfront, we did not come for the food; we had breakfast at the Foundry Grill before heading up, so our Bearclaw experience was really about the journey and the views, with a side of genuinely excellent cookies that turned out to be the perfect mountain snack. So take the food commentary with that context in mind. What I can tell you without reservation is that the lift ride alone is worth the trip. You take the Outlaw Express up through the trees to Mandan Summit, then transfer to Red's Lift to reach Bearclaw Summit, and the views that open up are legitimately breathtaking. A full 360 degrees of Wasatch Range, Utah Lake and Deer Creek Reservoir visible at the same time, mountain peaks in every direction. We came as a family and everyone enjoyed the ride. Dress in layers even in summer, bring sunscreen, bring water, and do not forget your camera because you will use it constantly. Plan on roughly 45 minutes each way for the full ride. It is not a quick detour, it is an experience you build your day around. Hiking trails branch right off the lifts if you want to extend the adventure. No gear required, no experience needed. Now for the honest part. The restrooms are a real letdown. We are talking pit toilets in an outdoor cabin adjacent to the summit area. At a resort with the history, the brand, and the expansion budget of Sundance, that is simply not acceptable. Snowbasin has marble restrooms at their mountain top. Sundance has an outhouse. If you have the capital to build new lifts and expand the resort, you have the capital to give your guests a dignified restroom experience at the summit. This is a solvable problem and it stands out badly against everything else Sundance does well. And then there were the rat traps. Visible, sitting out in plain sight near the Bearclaw restaurant area. Not exactly the aesthetic you expect at an Alpine resort. Four stars, and every one of them belongs to that lift ride and those views. Sort out the restrooms and lose the visible pest control and this is a five star experience without question.
Incredible views from the Bear Claw terrace. The food options are understandably limited (nachos, quesadillas, etc...) and very expensive but it's the only restaurant option up there. For example, basic Nachos are $22!! Tiny plastic cup of mediocre wine is $12. There are also several large signs about prohibiting outside food which most people seemed to ignore. Given the high price of summer lift tickets, it seems a bit churlish to require visitors to spend money on their high priced food options. The bathrooms were filthy and smelly.
The nachos are delicious and filled with toppings. The beef and pork is tasty! We did half and half for meat. Everything tastes very fresh. I loved the olives and jalapeños. The guacamole is flavorful too. The chips had a great amount of cheese. Nothing was soggy either. Very delicious!
I had low expectations for our order of nachos because - how good can measly nachos be if they're being made in a small kitchen atop a mountain? Well the answer is, very freaking good. The beef and the chicken were delicious. We also tried a rice crispy and giant chocolate cookie that we loved. I will likely now stop here during ski season. It's an epically enjoyable experience.

They have outdoor and indoor seating On a Saturday at 2 or so they didn't have a wait for four. For service you walk up to the counter and order and pay and they bring the food out to you . The Cesar salad was fresh and crunchy but rhetorical nachos were the best item we tried. Food is average to good.
During the summer/spring, the Sundance Resort ski lifts are open to take you to the very top of the mountain to enjoy food and drinks at Bearclaw with an amazing view of the canyon. Please note that the address on yelp is not accurate. You must navigate yourself to Sundance Resort to take the ski lift up to Bearclaw. When you arrive, there is free parking. A shuttle will take you down to the resort. You can purchase ski lift tickets online or at the ticket booth. You will take three ski lifts totaling 45 minutes. The view is breathtaking. Wear sunscreen and take a jacket. The weather goes from hot to windy very fast. We enjoyed shredded beef nachos and a chicken Caesar salad with a few drinks. They were both very fresh and tasty. It was a nice way of celebrating that we made it to the top. Everything included we spent over $150 for three people. If you want to keep the budget low, I suggest taking your own picnic!
Considering this is a small place up on a mountain, our group really wasn't expecting much. After taking the ski lift up, we figured why not, let's grab lunch and complete the experience. We knew prices would be inflated too considering you are at a resort, but what we didn't expect was to actually really enjoy our food! The nachos were a hit. Our group ordered a couple topped with chicken. Others tried the chicken street tacos as well, with and without toppings. The chicken was very good! Nachos were loaded and very tasty. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and the beautiful views. Staff were friendly. If I happened to return, I would eat here again!
5 star views!!!! The food is decent for what it is but nothing to get excited about. We split the nachos. Everything they serve has to be super easy to prepare since the restaurant is on top of the mountain so it's great for what it is. The views from the top are absolutely stunning and we took 3 lifts to get there so that was also an amazing part of the experience. We are coming back to do zip lining and I'm sure we'll eat at bearclaw again. The quesadillas looked really good so I'm excited to try them.

Nachos with a view! It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get to the top. (During peak times, it could take longer than an hour.) The lift ride is relaxing and fun to see all the fall colors. Once you get to the top, you must buy the nachos! They can be pricey but totally worth it. We ordered the original nachos but you can add beans (+3) or meat (+5). It fed 3 people comfortably. They also have other snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and beer at the top too. The prices are higher but they have to drive the food up top everyday so it's worth it.

Will travel 45 minute by chairlift for nachos! Was it worth the trip? Yes, it was a lovely experience. Lift tickets are $30 and you take 3 lifts to get to the top. You can also hike to the top to save some money as well. The chairlifts take about 45 minutes to get up. There's both inside and outside seating here. Highly recommend the outdoor seating for the views of the weather is good. Are the nachos the best nachos I've ever had? No. Is it the best view I've ever had while eating nachos? Yes. I appreciated the layers of chips and cheese - some spots miss that and just put cheese on the top and not the middle layers. The nachos with tip/tax are upwards of almost $30. They were a good size for the 3 of us to share. It's order at the counter and they give you a number to deliver the food/drinks. They do have beer and wine up here as well! read more

To get to Bearclaw that's at the top of the mountain, you have to take a 40 minute ride ski lift to get there. For me, it was scenic and a nice ride. Not so much for my husband. He started not feeling well on the ride. So just be aware of that if you choose to go to Bearclaw. The views are really beautiful once you get to the top. The food was horrible!! I ordered the baked potato because it was one of the newest items on the menu and I was told by the cashier that everyone had been loving the baked potato. I was excited to try the food here based on the reviews. Received my baked potato and it was hard as a rock. I tried my best to eat it, but ultimately had to get it remade. Excited for my second baked potato to see what this was all about. Nope! It was hard too! Maybe not as hard as the first one, but just slightly not as hard. Boy oh boy was I hungry and upset. There was no point in returning the second baked potato because at this point, I'm realizing this is how they make their baked potatoes--hard as a rock, I'm running out time because it's going to take 40 minutes to get back to the bottom and an hour to get back to the city I needed to be in. There just wasn't a point in trying something else. He finished eating his food that wasn't so great, but better than the baked potato. We left. I left hungry (side eye). Bearclaw was disappointing to say the least. Did I enjoy the food? No. Did I enjoy the views? Yes, but the ride was just too long. Would I do it again? Absolutely not. read more

Absolutely amazing! We rode up 3 chairlifts to reach the Bear Claw Cabin at 8,250 feet. The views were spectacular no matter where you looked. And the food! Oh my! Our party of six had a variety of burritos, nachos and a quesadilla. The portions were large!!! And DELICIOUS. And service was excellent. We spent a beautiful afternoon out in nature and could not have asked for a better time. Highly recommended!! read more
Short version: Amazing 360° views, decent food -- can't be too picky at 8,250 ft. elevation with no running water. The cozy interior and solid Wi-Fi connection will beckon you to stay a while. The lift rides up & down are half the fun. Inside was a cool respite from the hot midday sun. Their summer menu includes nachos, tacos, burritos, chips & salsa. Nachos were huge, but came to us barely warm. Toppings weren't more than a couple layers deep, leaving you with half the chips naked towards the end. Super friendly waitstaff who seem to enjoy being there. Surprisingly wide variety of snacks: five different ice cream bars, fresh baked cookies, endless drinks & beers. Large windows to enjoy the view from the inside. Rustic wood tables and chairs with cushioned benches along the windows. My one gripe is I wish there were shaded tables outside. Fun Fact #1 - Bearclaw gets it's name from a character in the 1972 movie "Jeremiah Johnson" (starring Robert Redford) which was filmed in the area and features Stewart Falls. Fun Fact #2 - Despite no running water, the composting toilets aren't half bad! read more

This is a unique mountain top resort eatery which is one's only choice on the top of the mountain. Part of the Sundance resort group, this rustic cafe style establishment has the typical bratwurst, hot dog and chili, plus they serve a mean platter of microwaved nachos and a decent replica of a bahn mi sandwich. It is full of nice locals from happy valley and has some fun decor on the walls. When you are stuck on the top of ridge at Sundance, be sure to stop by for some good food and company. read more

Is there anything better then having a beer and a snack while sitting on top of a mountain with both a view down Provo canyon to Utah lake on one sire and the mountains around Heber/Midway on the other? I think not. The staff here is very friendly and the beer selection is pretty darn good considering it's on top of a mountain. So are the snacks. The nachos are amazing. On a nice day the outdoor seating is the place to be with breathtaking views in any direction. read more

I need to know how much it would cost for one person to ride up and back and eat nachos at the bear claw cafe in sundance? Also what time should I get on the lift to make sure I can eat there. Which day of the week is best? Thx?
Its $26 for a lift ride, and the nachos are $18. Add in tip and a drink and you are looking at ~$50. But it would be well spent, the views and scenery are worth the price. Any day of the week is good, but mid-week will be best. Bear law opens at…
