A schlep to get to even on the lift The four stars are for the views of course and the little lounge chairs they have on the patio for enjoying the views. They have outdoor and indoor seating On a Saturday at 2 or so they didn't have a wait for four. For service you walk up to the counter and order and pay and they bring the food out to you . The Cesar salad was fresh and crunchy but rhetorical nachos were the best item we tried. Food is average to good.

During the summer/spring, the Sundance Resort ski lifts are open to take you to the very top of the mountain to enjoy food and drinks at Bearclaw with an amazing view of the canyon. Please note that the address on yelp is not accurate. You must navigate yourself to Sundance Resort to take the ski lift up to Bearclaw. When you arrive, there is free parking. A shuttle will take you down to the resort. You can purchase ski lift tickets online or at the ticket booth. You will take three ski lifts totaling 45 minutes. The view is breathtaking. Wear sunscreen and take a jacket. The weather goes from hot to windy very fast. We enjoyed shredded beef nachos and a chicken Caesar salad with a few drinks. They were both very fresh and tasty. It was a nice way of celebrating that we made it to the top. Everything included we spent over $150 for three people. If you want to keep the budget low, I suggest taking your own picnic!

I had low expectations for our order of nachos because - how good can measly nachos be if they're being made in a small kitchen atop a mountain? Well the answer is, very freaking good. The beef and the chicken were delicious. We also tried a rice crispy and giant chocolate cookie that we loved. I will likely now stop here during ski season. It's an epically enjoyable experience.

Stunning views and yummy nachos!! It was a fun ride up the lifts to get here. We will be back!

Nachos + chicken and chicken street tacos(minus the usual toppings)

Considering this is a small place up on a mountain, our group really wasn't expecting much. After taking the ski lift up, we figured why not, let's grab lunch and complete the experience. We knew prices would be inflated too considering you are at a resort, but what we didn't expect was to actually really enjoy our food! The nachos were a hit. Our group ordered a couple topped with chicken. Others tried the chicken street tacos as well, with and without toppings. The chicken was very good! Nachos were loaded and very tasty. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and the beautiful views. Staff were friendly. If I happened to return, I would eat here again!

5 star views!!!! The food is decent for what it is but nothing to get excited about. We split the nachos. Everything they serve has to be super easy to prepare since the restaurant is on top of the mountain so it's great for what it is. The views from the top are absolutely stunning and we took 3 lifts to get there so that was also an amazing part of the experience. We are coming back to do zip lining and I'm sure we'll eat at bearclaw again. The quesadillas looked really good so I'm excited to try them.

My trek up to timpanogos but didn't make it due to danger on ice fields and two Moose.

Scenery and nachos are amazing.. Sundance in itself is such an amazing place. Thank you Ray Stewart for making this happen many, many years ago. Robert Redford too. The nachos are even better after a trek up Timpanogos EPIC

Nachos with a view! It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get to the top. (During peak times, it could take longer than an hour.) The lift ride is relaxing and fun to see all the fall colors. Once you get to the top, you must buy the nachos! They can be pricey but totally worth it. We ordered the original nachos but you can add beans (+3) or meat (+5). It fed 3 people comfortably. They also have other snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and beer at the top too. The prices are higher but they have to drive the food up top everyday so it's worth it.

What's better than nachos at a restaurant on top of a mountain following a ski lift ride up? Bearclaw Cabin let's you enjoy a 360° view of Heber, Utah Valley, and the Wasatch Mountains after a beautiful 45 minute ski lift up. With a menu of: Tacos, nachos, burritos, and drinks Can't get any better!

Love love love it! Top of the mountain! Super friendly! Most amazing views in Utah! Great nachos, cookies and full strength beer! (Something I've struggled finding in this state) Ski in, ski out down the pipeline! Great memories!!!

Nachos!

Absolutely amazing! We rode up 3 chairlifts to reach the Bear Claw Cabin at 8,250 feet. The views were spectacular no matter where you looked. And the food! Oh my! Our party of six had a variety of burritos, nachos and a quesadilla. The portions were large!!! And DELICIOUS. And service was excellent. We spent a beautiful afternoon out in nature and could not have asked for a better time. Highly recommended!!

It doesn't get better than this!! Such a gorgeous place to enjoy lunch! The views are unbeatable. The tacos, chips, guacamole and beer were fabulous! I would go back in a heartbeat.

Short version: Amazing 360° views, decent food -- can't be too picky at 8,250 ft. elevation with no running water. The cozy interior and solid Wi-Fi connection will beckon you to stay a while. The lift rides up & down are half the fun. Inside was a cool respite from the hot midday sun. Their summer menu includes nachos, tacos, burritos, chips & salsa. Nachos were huge, but came to us barely warm. Toppings weren't more than a couple layers deep, leaving you with half the chips naked towards the end. Super friendly waitstaff who seem to enjoy being there. Surprisingly wide variety of snacks: five different ice cream bars, fresh baked cookies, endless drinks & beers. Large windows to enjoy the view from the inside. Rustic wood tables and chairs with cushioned benches along the windows. My one gripe is I wish there were shaded tables outside. Fun Fact #1 - Bearclaw gets it's name from a character in the 1972 movie "Jeremiah Johnson" (starring Robert Redford) which was filmed in the area and features Stewart Falls. Fun Fact #2 - Despite no running water, the composting toilets aren't half bad!

Ask the Community - Bearclaw

I need to know how much it would cost for one person to ride up and back and eat nachos at the bear claw cafe in sundance? Also what time should I get on the lift to make sure I can eat there. Which day of the week is best? Thx?

Its $26 for a lift ride, and the nachos are $18. Add in tip and a drink and you are looking at ~$50. But it would be well spent, the views and scenery are worth the price. Any day of the week is good, but mid-week will be best. Bear law opens at… Read more

The staff were incredibly friendly, and our waitress Tanya was the sweetest. We started with the following appetizers; Tuna tartare- the texture combinations of the crispy potato paired so well with the soft delicate tuna. Loved the added saltiness from the ponzu and capers. Wagyu cheek - with butternut squash risotto. Amazing! Melt in your mouth wagyu, so good! Scallop- with mushroom, smoked trout roa and lobster consume, another spectacular dish, loved all the components and the flavor profile. Beets - delicious with the feta and grapefruit. The bread service is perfection, light and hot, not a heavy bread at all. You get a piece of sourdough and a little roll with pepitas and golden raisins, so good. Our mains were the Pepper steak, which was cooked perfectly, and loved the chutney next to the pepper flavor King salmon with Thai curry mousse was amazing, I loved the crispy skin. We finished with the chocolate hazelnut mousse and the cheesecake. Both are light, not too sweet, the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Overall everything is seasoned well, cooked to perfection, and high quality. Definitely a meal to remember.

But then came the steak, which was flat-out the best I've had in years. No notes. Here's the thing though, I'm not a gnocchi person. Never have been. Our server talked me into it anyway, and I'm genuinely grateful. It's a short rib and stew situation with gnocchi that somehow hits every note perfectly. Total convert now. And the s'mores pie to close out the night? Simply perfect. Don't skip it. The service was great too, our server clearly knew the menu inside and out and steered us exactly right.

However, we did have one drink server where we had some issues with, but our main waitress was lovely. For starters, our table shared the baked ricotta, balsamic glazed brussel sprouts, and bread rolls with honey and butter. The brussel sprouts were good, but the bread rolls were my favorite! They were so incredibly soft and pillowy. They honestly didn't even need the bread and butter! I was most excited for the baked ricotta, but unfortunately it was a disappointment for me. Ricotta is a very mild cheese to begin with, but I tasted absolutely zero flavor from it and it was mostly just adding a textural element to the bread. The fig walnut guanciale jam was overpoweringly sweet and the guanciale was also nonexistent. Overall, what I expected to be a flavorful combination, fell pretty flat and bland for me. Onto the main, I got to try the Block burger and the house made gnocchi. The burger was a standard burger, nothing too crazy. I was surprised the patty was actually moist because it was cooked well done. The same jam from the baked ricotta was used, so wasn't a big fan of it because again the overwhelmingly sweet didn't do much to elevate the burger. I also missed any flavor from the truffle cheese sauce. So it was a pretty average burger. My gnocchi definitely tasted better than it looked. Another friend also got the same dish and it looked like they just split our portions in half and served it on two separate plates. In general, I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The braised short rib was very tender, but the whole plate sat in a pool of salty sauce. I couldn't really make out any other flavors. The scoop of crème fraiche tasted exactly like sour cream and was not the consistency that I expected. The gnocchi's were made well, but I prefer mine a little firmer. However, this is complete personal preference. Overall, service was good, but food fell severely short of what I expected. I was so excited for all of these elevated flavors and ingredients, but, sadly, none of them came through.

But the service was awful! We walked in around 2 or so for lunch on a Monday. It was crowded. Several staff walked past us waiting at the counter for a seat and didn't say a peep to us. Finally a woman appeared and said she'd be with us shortly. She came back and when it asked if we could sit on the patio she told me it was closed because in the morning it had been cold. It was in the 70's at 2pm?! She sat us at a table next to a support beam and it felt very tight. Chairs were not very comfortable and the table was wobbly. It was very warm in the restaurant and very loud. We sat for 15-20 minute without a single person acknowledging us. I was about to get up and leave when finally a waitress came for our order. My husband enjoyed his Back 40 burger commenting on how juicy it was but expected more flavor. I ordered a Garden salad which was really good. Carrots were huge, tomatoes were yummy and like I said earlier the greens were so crisp and so fresh. My daughter had the chicken tenders and seriously the chicken was so tender and tasted fresh unlike grocery store chicken. The views are amazing!

Now for the not-so-good. We usually call ahead because we have a few family members with food allergies. We called ahead and everything sounded kopacetic. We arrived and ordered our food. One member of our 6 person party ate a couple of fries (which she asked about ahead of time due to her allergies) and she noticed something different about the fries. We asked one of the workers if they put something on the fries because they were crispy on the outside. The worker said "I don't think so." We asked if he could check to be sure so he went to ask. He came back and said "it's just crispy coating." So again we asked "can you tell us what is in the crispy coating because we are trying to avoid an allergic reaction." He replied "it's just crispy coating I don't know what's in it." So we asked "is there anyway you can find out what's in the crispy coating?" He replied "there is definitely a way to find out." He goes to the back...again. When he returns he says, "we fry the fries in a fryer with our chicken tenders. I would suggest not eating the fries." His suggestion is well-taken but we still don't know what's in the 'crispy coating.' When we were ordering, one member in my group asked for the two meat plate with brisket and pork ribs. The menu says "pork ribs." The worker said "We don't have pork ribs. We have ribs." So ribs it was. Giving a little room for grace, he was a young man who seemed to be new. BUT if you are at the cash register taking orders, you really should know what's on your menu. As for the food, it was disappointing. Portions were small. For the two meat plate with brisket and sausage, I was given one piece of brisket and a small hot link. To be fair, the menu says "8 oz" for the two meat plate so you kind of know what you're getting. When the order comes out, it looks very small. The brisket was a little on the dry side. The hot link was tasty but small. Buyer beware. TLDR; not coming back
