soap scum, hard water deposits? Who knows. Disgusting!

-The Cup; I politely suggested to the bar tender that this cup should likely be cleaned or disposed of. He replied; "It's been that way for 7 years" and "You are the only one that's ever said anything about it" WOW!!! -Well my friend, you need to up your game and work on your story or better, don't serve in dirty dishes and simply appogize! It takes WEEKS+++ of water sitting in a cup to form hard water deposits of this nature! Clean the cups or dispose of them! Hard water deposits can be removed! If it's not part of the cup or part of the beverage placed in the cup it should never be served! -and that as I went to pay my check, fail. note; if the cups were wiped after washing the rim might be a bit more inviting as well. -I specifically asked prior to ordering; "is the fish "battered" in house", YES I was told....my guess, it's not. Total disappointment. note; 3 (***) prior to have my suggestion of cleaning the dirty cups was tossed back as my problem not yours) T.I.P.S., look it up.

Divey old place right on the main street. Good place to watch sports. Super friendly server. Went there for half price wings - Weds special. The wings were good for the price, although would not have loved them at full price. Holi cheese fries were not great, but did I eat them all? Of course. Lovely atmosphere, and not many options in Heber where you can have a beer and watch a game. Rounding up to a 4.

The food was fun and tasty. It's a local sport's vibe which I enjoy. Great service, friendly and helpful!

Anna was my bartender/server, excellent service.

This is a local spot that has excellent service, chill environment, with a rustic mountain vibe. Great bar food, reasonable prices.

Step into Melvin's, and feel the rich history underfoot as the original wooden floors creak with tales of games past. This is a sports fanatic's haven, where rustic charm meets modern comforts, and every TV is tuned to the action. But it's not just for the adults; the back half is where the kids can cheer from their designated family area. While the debates rage over teams, food, cold drinks, and their legendary in-house salsa, it's a place where everyone, from every generation, feels the thrill of the game. At Melvin's, it's more than sports; it's where traditions are born and memories are made, for all. Welcome to the Melvin's! (home of the greatest Seattle Seahawks fan base in Utah!)

Turkey burger with cheddar & side salad

Decided to swing by for a linner (late lunch early dinner) after spending the day playing golf up at Wasatch Park Golf course. Brother recommended it since they are Steeler fans (and Browns--it's a house divided) and they have great pub fare. Love the sports team flags all over the walls and the classic back east Irish pub feel of the place. Love that they have a patio and the space has sun sails to keep it shady and cool. Hubby ordered the Melvin with Velveeta and I got a turkey burger with cheddar and side salad. His burger was covered in so much goodness he knew he had to eat it with a fork & knife. He loved how the flavors all compliment each other and he couldn't get enough of that cheesy goodness. Once I tasted one of his fries, I knew I had to order a side of cheese fries! They are thin slivers of potato wedges so you get the best of both worlds (wedges and crispy fries), and dunking them in the oozy cheese sauce just capped it all off! I really liked the flavor of the turkey burger and devoured every bite. The side salad was tiny and just lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese and croutons, but still good. Service was great and felt comfortable eating inside with extra precautions in place. Definitely order the cheese fries if nothing else! I will come back just for them!

Took a ride to look for some hiking opportunities around Hebert and saw this beautiful lake called Jordanelle off 189. It was about 14:00 and found out it was $20 to get in, without a boat or swimming trunks and craving food, opted for a late lunch. Now the establishment needed to be dog friendly and Melvins had outdoor patio seating allowing dogs. Sat outside on a long picnic table with plenty of elbow room and in short order the waitress was there to take our drink order and with a water dish for the dog. They have a very large list of options and decided on a local ale based on her recommendation. I enjoyed it thoroughly, cold and the right amount of bite! Gave it a 4.5 Lunch was an appetizer of chips and salsa which was not that great and asked the waitress for the cheese option that was of a canned variety e.g. processed, gave it a 2. The main was a Corned Beef Reuben and told the waitress I was Irish (they don't eat much corned beef in Ireland but it was the cheapest USA cut of meat back in the day and became synonymous with St Patrick's day for everyone else) so I told her it better be good, doing her job she didn't steer me away. Haven't had good corned beef yet in Utah (Except my own) so I was taking a chance! Having cooked hundreds of pounds of this meat over the years both at home and for large Irish gatherings of 100 plus, I know my away around this meat. Needless to say, it was what it was, a sandwich thin sliced deli meat and over cooked with the only juiciness coming from the sauerkraut, gave it a 2. Maybe a local favorite because they don't know any better. The other meal was a Chili Cheese Burger that was cooked to order med rare and the chili had the right amount of spice, gave it a 4. Ordered a plain burger for the dog without a roll medium rare and he loved it, he gave it a 5. Both dishes came with thin sliced steak fries that were great and had enough to bring home and make some hash browns the next morning. The waitress was great, good crowd and food was served with the right timing. If in the area again we would go back but will order a hamburger instead. Overall giving the rating of a 3 because of the burgers, beer and fries. If I had the burger it could have been a 4.

But the service was awful! We walked in around 2 or so for lunch on a Monday. It was crowded. Several staff walked past us waiting at the counter for a seat and didn't say a peep to us. Finally a woman appeared and said she'd be with us shortly. She came back and when it asked if we could sit on the patio she told me it was closed because in the morning it had been cold. It was in the 70's at 2pm?! She sat us at a table next to a support beam and it felt very tight. Chairs were not very comfortable and the table was wobbly. It was very warm in the restaurant and very loud. We sat for 15-20 minute without a single person acknowledging us. I was about to get up and leave when finally a waitress came for our order. My husband enjoyed his Back 40 burger commenting on how juicy it was but expected more flavor. I ordered a Garden salad which was really good. Carrots were huge, tomatoes were yummy and like I said earlier the greens were so crisp and so fresh. My daughter had the chicken tenders and seriously the chicken was so tender and tasted fresh unlike grocery store chicken. The views are amazing!

We had our IDs scanned and briefly used the restroom before heading to a table had to piss and wash our hands. A few minutes later, the staff abruptly told us we would not be served and had to leave without explanation. We sat there confused and were threatened with police involvement. Only after pressing for an answer were we told it was "suspicious" that we went straight to the restroom and were "touching our noses," implying drug use. It was 34 degrees outside we had just walked over, our noses were running, and one of us blew his nose. That was the entire "evidence." We were the only customers in the establishment, were polite, sober, and never given a chance to order food or drinks. Instead, we were followed, accused, and escorted out into the cold. Based on the way we were treated and consistent with other reviews about this place we feel we were racially discriminated. Both staff members involved were white; all three of us are Latin American U.S. citizens. For context, we are working professionals: I run a consulting agency, my friend manages business developers for a major company in Salt Lake City, and my brother-in-law is a registered nurse who supervises and trains other nurses. We came in to eat and talk, not to be accused of criminal behavior. Management should seriously review the conduct and judgment of the staff working that night. This experience was inappropriate, humiliating, and unacceptable.

She also took excellent care of us, despite really having to hustle. I had the pulled pork tacos and my wife had the teriyaki wings. The tacos(I ordered two)were stuffed with pulled pork that was very tasty, and came with crema, a sweet relish salsa, and cheese(a slight upcharge). That wasn't the case and I don't think this will be a place I could stomach again. Pros: the front seating area is pretty cute and gets you excited. It is seat yourself so see an open table and you can grab it. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Cons: #1 is the food. It was almost close to terrible. My partner ordered the French toast which could be easily made at home. Just basic eggs and Walmart brand bread. No seasoning, nothing. I ordered the sausage and eggs with hash browns. The sausage was a burger size patty. Kinda chewy and a different flavor to it. Not awful but definitely not great. The kicker came with the hashbrowns. They were TERRIBLE. They are your Great Value brand hash brown patties with no seasoning, no taste, crunchy and almost unable to stomach them. I think they took 3 patties and toasted them then tried to crumble them up to resemble restaurant style hash browns. Finally our order was basic. Eggs, sausage and toast. It took over 20 minutes to even get us our underwhelming food and the restaurant wasn't even full. I think this place may have been good at one point but that is long gone. This was a one and done for us. If you're hungry there are much better options - even McDonald's!
