My wife and I were just passing through on our way from Denver to our home in Boise. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Evanston(another review)and asked Weston, the evening clerk at the hotel, where to eat. He recommended the Lincoln Highway Tavern. We walked in at about 9:40 pm. The kitche closes at 10. We wouldn't have been surprised to be turned away, but the wonderful woman covering the bar and kitchen, forties, glasses, dark hair, was very friendly and gracious. She also took excellent care of us, despite really having to hustle. I had the pulled pork tacos and my wife had the teriyaki wings. The tacos(I ordered two)were stuffed with pulled pork that was very tasty, and came with crema, a sweet relish salsa, and cheese(a slight upcharge). My tacos came with tortilla chips that were crispy and well salted. My wife liked her wings. If we're passing through again, we would definitely stay in Evanston and have a meal at Lincoln Highway Tavern. read more

Here again having lunch at the only place I eat when I'm in town. Today I had the Bison sloppy Joe with onion rings. It was very good. Hints of sweet sauce with sautéed onions and peppers. Stopped late night to get our road food while driving from Reno to Missouri! Quite the 3 day trek with u haul and cats in town. This was the perfect spot to recharge, stretch and get some decent food in us. Tried the sloppy bison and chili! It was the perfect mix to split between too of us. Needed some protein to keep us going but not too much to want to go to food coma. Especially with the ice conditions, light snow and wind on overpass. I stop at Lincoln Highway every time on my way back/to Sturgis motorcycle rally from California. I actually like this place so much that during my last 2024 trip to Sturgis, I decided to stay overnight in Evanston instead of some random place in Utah so I could have a more formal/longer dinner at the tavern! I just love the vibe, fair prices, the staff and the owner. They also offer a large selection of local whiskies. They provide more than decent bar food, a huge plus for the Saturday cook and his shishito peppers. He knows what he is doing. The new kitchen manager makes a killer chili verde and also regular chili. A Must try. Burgers are generous and juicy. The ranch has a little twist. Try it! Highly recommended! read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon right about the time they opened and the place really did fill up quickly. Service was a little slow with only one server but she was busy. I was really excited to try the pork sandwich with rosemary au jus but I was really disappointed when the sandwich came out with very little, and very dry pork. The au jus was rosemary flavored oil and not at all what I'd describe as au jus. The French fries were definitely the best part of the meal and very tasty. A great dive bar but I'd probably just stick to the drinks and maybe appetizers on a return visit. read more

The first thing they said when we walked in (my husband, myself, and our baby) was, "you can't bring the baby here. It's a bar." It was 2 pm, and there was no one else in the establishment. That seemed odd to me, but maybe that's normal for Wyoming (we are just passing through Evanston)? I've eaten at sports bars with family before, so i had assumed it would be the same thing. The kitchen looked dirty from what we saw, and then we looked closer at the Yelp review and saw that they had 2 health code violations. The service was meh, they were busy but the staff kinda sucked. The one chubby bar tender thought it was super classy to keep dropping the F bomb and saying out loud how much of an inconvenience it was to be busy. This place. We drove all the way from Salt Lake City just to say we've been to Wyoming. We are on vacation from FL so we are way out of our normal dining experience. But wow! Andrea greeted us and made us feel like locals. Then we saw that she was cooking out order! Little later Jamie showed up and took over service at our table. Such friendly people. At first glance we were nervous to enter, but after asking another couple entering who had been before, we decided to give this old gas station a try. I swung by on a road trip to grab a to go order. I got the Heartland Steak Sandwich, which was fairly good. Cooked medium rare. I do wish the steak was chopped a little more thinly as I was pulling off large chunks of meat with each bite. I've been going to this place the last hour and a half. The concept of the restaurant being a convenience store in its past is truly unique... easy to identify throughout the establishment. Staff was friendly and down to earth. Unfortunately the food is where this restaurant fell short. My burger was mediocre at best...a little well done but better that than the alternative. This place typifies why I love Yelp. We were driving through Wyoming and needed some lunch before our final push to Rawlins for the night. We exited into Evanston and consulted Yelp, which led us here. As we pulled up, we paused. Everything about this place seemed to convey that they were strictly a bar. The dark windows, beer signs, 21+ only allowed sign on the door. But, we had faith in our fellow Yelpers. We walked in and the interior matched the exterior. The only indication that it was something more was a couple perusing menus at a nearby table. Taking our seats (it's a seat yourself kinda joint), the server/bartender immediately and warmly greeted us. She brought us menus and asked for our drink order. They had roughly a dozen beers on tap, featuring everything from Deschutes to PBR. There weren't any astounding stout options, so I went for the New Castle and my dining companion opted for a dark lager. Overall, the beer options for a porters and stouts girl were just ok. Onto the food. I had read a review that claimed their patty melt to be out-of-this-world. I was a little nervous by the fact that it included Fireball Whiskey grilled onions as Fireball and onions? Weird combo. Figuring my fellow Yelpers had taken me this far, I went ahead and ordered the patty melt (with bison patty). It was phenomenal. There is the slightest cinnamon flavor that takes the taste way beyond that of your usual patty melt. Believe me, I know how weird that sounds. But, trust! Just do it! My dining companion ordered their Southwest chicken sandwich and reported it, through bites and groans of delight, to be 'pretty much bomb'. Coming from a guy who grew up in the Southwest? High praise indeed. One thing to note for those of you from Utah and Idaho--they have fry sauce! The service was lovely and the prices were reasonable (lunch for 2 with beers ran us under $30).
