We went on 23 Nov for a dinner. We enjoyed tasting new dishes and ordered saganaki (fried cheese). Tasted mild and OK. We ordered the australian wagyu which is good but not a "wow". Server came with only a knife and no fork?? I ended up using my salad fork! For the pork schnittzel, it tasted OK and a little to the tough side. For this dish, the server did not come with any accompanying cutlery. Seems to me the service is questionable and the food is just OK. I would not consider coming here. read more

With the way the manager and hostess made a judgement that my wife and I had "too much" to drink because she was fixing my sleeves on my shirt and they said we were "holding each other up" and wouldn't serve anyone at the table a drink. The manager was very "uppity" and quite an ass. He gave no consideration that we were staying at the hotel. I whole heartedly believe in the liquor laws of the state, but you should pay more attention to the state of your customers before JUDGING the customers coming in to spend money in your establishment. We left without ordering. No one deserves that kind of judgement from anyone at this point in the way the world is!!!!! This is the restaurant at the Zermatt resort and spa. We made reservations for 6:30 not knowing how busy it would be. I don't know how it is during regular times but we were the only customers there when we walked in. The restaurant is large and roomy, we had our pick of locations and we chose a booth by the window. We ordered a couple appetizers and both ordered the ribeye steak for dinner. We got the onion rings and shrimp cocktail for the appetizers, both were very good. The onion rings were just crispy enough but not over done and the shrimp were a good size and tasty. The main course came and my steak was perfectly cooked as I ordered, the sides of mashed potatoes were generous and the brussels sprouts were delicious. The staff wore face coverings the entire time, yet we're still attentive and made sure everything was perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I'm in the Heber area again. read more

Super disappointing. Stayed at Zermatt so this seemed like the best option, but it tries to be a high-end steakhouse while falling completely flat. My kids ordered steaks off the kids menu that were much better than my "wagyu" which was priced at almost twice as much(not to mention that you shouldn't call it wagyu if it isn't anyway). But even that doesn't say much as all the steaks were extremely mediocre. I ordered creamed corn as a side and received a bowl of canned corn. Best part of the meal were the rolls from the bakery next door, maybe skip the restaurant and just go there? Service was also pretty bad. I think we got a bad server as he seemed to ignore us and I ended up ordering through the girl that was delivering food to our table. I know it's Zermatt and they're trying to present as a high-end place, but for your money this place is pretty terrible. read more

Z's may look a little dated but the food is fantastic, and I'm a tough customer. The chef is a little pepper happy on the steaks but they were delicious, cooked perfectly, and served with creamy mash and piping hot. We stayed at the Zermatt recently, and it was nice having a fancy restaurant onsite for convenience. Overall, the food was okay and despite my under-cooked steak the first night, we went back for another night and I ordered it an extra level of doneness. My wife git tasty chicken scaloppine night one, chicken parm night two, but it was severely dry and overcooked. The waitress also didn't serve rolls all night two, but they were a highlight of the meal on night one. I've seen a lot of reviewers who complained about the salty food and I experienced it it firsthand as the béarnaise and bordelaise sauce were overly salty. Overall, the service was great, food was hit and miss, but still giving three stars because it was a convenient fine dining experience on the mountain resort. If you go here, you should expect the same. 50-50 chance you're gonna get great food but you'll probably like eating there. read more

We were disappointed. My wife had the ravioli that was just OK. I had the baseball sirloin that was really good but both entrees were over priced. The salad bar was nothing to get excited about. We started off with a couple of glasses of very nice red wine accompanied by the gratis soft sweet dinner rolls (OMG) with butter. Krystian waited our table and knew the menu and ingredients like the back of his hand. We had steaks, trout, jambalaya, and pasta. It was all delicious. The dining room is very open, large, and well appointed. Don't be put off by the spa atmosphere, it is not just tourists who frequent here - we are locals! So, make your reservations and see if you can snag Krystian as your waiter! It has been a long time since we have been here. The first experience was strange but we wanted to give them another try. The second experience was worse. It took more than 50 min to get our food and then one meal was forgotten. They comped that meal which was nice. The food was good but not amazing. Best steak we've ever had. We ordered the steak for two meal (the exact name escapes me). The chef brought it out to our table, ensures it was cooked to our satisfaction (medium, of course). So this place was yummy. We had the smoked wings, fries and mac and cheese. Despite the long wait to be seated and get fed, the food was actually pretty good. There was also a charming country/jazz singer performing. Weird mix, yes but wow she was amazing. Truly made the night for us. I visited the Zermat Resort during my stay in Midway. Unfortunately for me, there were not many Yelpers or restaurants to chose from in this small quaint town, but since this place was conveniently located, the family and I decided to give it a try. Our first attempt was met by a "Closed" sign--apparently we went on the only day they were closed. We tried again the following night and enjoyed a pleasant fireside meal. As I mentioned, Midway is a small town with not much to offer after a day or 2 of town-wandering, but conveniently situated near Park City and Deer Valley. Zermat Resort is a popular location for hot springs/spas and conferences, but as our visit to Zermat was at beginning of the week, the resort was relatively deserted. The enormous fireplace bathed the Chop Haus with a warm glow and provided a rustic crackling soundtrack. It seemed my family and I were to enjoy the warm dining room to ourselves. However, as the evening progressed a large group of individuals joined our dinning room. Normally, an empty restaurant is a red flag, but after taking into consideration that we were visiting on Wednesday an empty resort dining room is not necessarily indicative of the meal/experience we were about to enjoy. We shared our meal family-style: - Gruyere Fondue, Chilled Vegetables and French Bread -- my parents thoroughly enjoyed the Gruyere fondue and even requested to keep the cheese to dip the freshly baked Z pretzels that came with our meal. (4 stars) -Pork Tenderloin Schnitzel with Spätzle, Spinach and Tomatoes - Tasty, but unremarkable. (2.5-3 stars) -Braised Buffalo Short Rib, Wild Mushroom, Demi Glaze - Delicious, but how can you go wrong with braised short ribs and mushrooms. The demi glaze was rich and robust with flavor. (4 stars) -Bread pudding - the waiter really sold this to us, but we were not impressed. (2 stars) Service- at first our waiter was quite attentive, but after the large group arrived our tiny table of 3 was only given the perfunctory visit to check on quality and satisfaction of the meal. The supporting staff was still very attentive--my glass was never empty, and empty plates never stayed on the table. (2.5-3Stars) Pros- Fireside table-adorable ambiance, though the restaurant when empty seemed less inviting in such an open cavernous space. I can see how charming it would be during a full house. Freshly baked pretzels-delicious! (3-3.5 stars) Cons- Understandably, on a Wednesday, the restaurant would not be full staffed, but it was a bit off-putting to be ignored once a large group showed up. Also, prior to our arrival, we attempted to call to verify whether or not reservations were required/recommended for dinner, but no one answered the phone. Unfortunately, that did impact my feelings toward the restaurant before I even arrived. Overall, we enjoyed our experience, however it was not as memorable as it could have been. The food was delicious, but unremarkable; the service was inconsistent, but not lacking in basic attentiveness. If I were to be in the area again and craving Gruyere Fondue or Buffalo Short Ribs, I'd consider visiting again. read more

If you want prime steak like Flemings or Ruth Chris, Z is different, with significantly lower cost, yet very good...although not equal to high end prime steakhouse fare. 3 of us indulged on apps, soup, salad, and large tasty steaks for $75 less than Flemings. Lovely setting and great service. I suggest the fondue app, bisque, wedge salad, and generous sized KC Strip. 5 stars due to appropriate pricing for really good but not top-shelve steakhouse fare. So just ate at Z Chop Haus. What a complete let down and huge disappointment. The fondue was the consistency of a thin Alfredo sauce, served with bagettes instead of cubes of French bread and what looked like remnents of a charcuterie board. My mom ordered the beef stroganoff at the recommendation of our server and she said the stroganoff sauce was consistent with a broth not a stroganoff and I had the pork chop with really lumpy heavy mashed potatoes, bummer. The hostess, server, and manager were nice. Mom said she'd never eat there again. Too bad the kitchen wasn't as good as the front of the house staff. read more

Agree- food was delicious but service was very slow. Dinner on a Thursday night with 2 other tables in the restaurant took 3 hours. I had the soup and salad bar and never got it. (Granted I should have spoken up, but I was distracted talking with my dinner party.) When my dinner showed up (finally) I asked the server about my salad bar and he apologized for forgetting to tell me to serve myself. Honestly amazing!! Their Filet Mignon and Ribeye were some of the best steaks I've had in a very long time. Definitely recommend!
