    Raw prime rib?
    Katie W.

I don't know why I tried this place again. I do not like the taste of rare meat, so I am someone who orders food well done just in case it's undercooked. My prime rib was insanely undercooked if not rare. I was so disappointed because it's expensive and obviously meat that's undercooked can make people sick. If you come here, avoid the prime rib. The service and ambiance were wonderful though!

Parmesan bread for artichoke dip and Parmesan bread appetizer

This visit was for a friend's birthday. Their choice on me. All the options in the world, and this establishment is what they chose because they've never tried this restaurant before. Given my previous visits to other locations, I offered the advice of, "it can be a hit, or a major miss". Well....I was pleasantly surprised. Minus a few things that my friend pointed out. First of all, they had just barely opened for the day. I had absolutely NO problem waiting as I said, "at least we know the food will be fresh"! Friend became impatient as we had additional plans, so it became a takeout order. I ordered the Garlic Peppered Ribeye steak well done at 16 oz. It was FANTASTIC! And FINALLY cooked to well done perfection. My friend ordered the New York Steak 8 oz and requested medium rare. Of course, of course, it just had to arrive medium well done. Like I told them, "this place can either be a hit or a miss". Next up, they were upset that the garden salad states in the description that is comes with red onions and none were to be found. Yes, disappointing, but it arrived fresh and it did include the cheese, egg, tomatoes, and croutons; I pointed out. TBH, after looking at others photos, it appears NO garden salad at this restaurant has ever had red onions included . Perhaps Ruby River needs to delete that from their description. The parmesan tomatoes side showed up with underripe tomatoes which was very disappointing because that's the one side I said is a MUST TRY! Needless to say, my friend said they were good nonetheless (but added on, they probably could make even better at home...lol). Caesar salad was lacking in cheese and the side dressing wasn't half full but it was fresh and good. Shrimp cocktail appetizer isn't worth the money for six tiny pieces of shrimp, then they just pour on the cocktail sauce on the lettuce bed instead of having the sauce on the side. It was good and even better with sliced lemons for juice; but really, a tiny appetizer considering the cost. The artichoke dip and Parmesan bread appetizer is a MUST TRY! 5 out of 5. Perfect seasoning and crispy toasted fresh Parmesan bread. Plenty of portions for 2-3 people as an app. My friend really liked the garlic mashed potatoes with white gravy because it was made out of red skin potatoes and the skin was still on some in the provided "to go" cup. Ugh ugh, for me there. I absolutely abhor mashed potatoes with skin involved but to each their own. All in all, a 4 star visit. My Ribeye steak lasted me three days because it was huge, flavorful, cooked perfectly, and most importantly, FRESH!

Stopped by for dinner and ordered the rib eye and prime rib. Our server was super attentive, friendly and gave great recommendations. You also get this large baked bread. The prime rib was perfectly booked, juicy, thick and delicious. The horse radish was shaved which was great with a large portion of au jus. The satay mushrooms were delicious and the mash potatoes with the white gravy creamy and well seasoned. The rib eye was juicy and the twice baked potato was large. Overall, you get a huge bang for your buck for quality prime rib. Would highly recommend

I stopped in to see the car show. I tried to have lunch at the restaurant sponsoring the show. I ordered the tortilla soup, and some chicken. The soup was brought to my table, and it was barely even warm. The waitress never came back to my table until my entree was brought out. I explained the unsafe condition of the soup and she offered another bowl but I said to just take it away. I cut into my grilled chicken breast and it was barely warm as well. I waved my staff member over and explained that this food was also barely warm. They offered to retry, but by this time I had lost all trust in anything being served was safe. I didn't want to chance food poisoning. The bread was good so I give it 1 star. I am a huge proponent of restaurant food meeting the 40/140 standards of food safety. They really need to take a look at this issue and discuss food safety with the cooking staff. Go at your own risk.

They treat you like family, and you can get a juicy steak and big baked potato for a very reasonable price! This is not a fancy, big city chophouse! It's a classic western steakhouse. Not a huge menu, but what they serve is very tasty! The atmosphere is relaxed and the decor is western ranch house. The bar and country music make you feel at home in cowboy hat and boots, if that's your thing! Most things on the menu are good and some items are very good. Every appetizer I've had is amazing. Their filet mignon or ribeye and baked potatoes are classic and about as good as it gets. The fresh baked bread and salads are delicious additions to most meals. And frankly the prices are the same or lower than you can get in a grocery store for the same quality unless you know a cattle rancher! But they do the cooking and bring it to your table! Good luck trying to make room for dessert, but those options are good, too! They will package one up to take home if you need to. Make sure to come with an appetite!

    Salmon Oscar

I've had food from here twice. The first time I had steak and shrimp, and I loved it. The second time I tried the salmon Oscar, which was a little dry and not well seasoned. The staff was kind and attentive, but the child seat situation needs to be revisited. The high chair was too short for our daughter to eat from the table, while the booster seat had no straps and required one of us to eat with just one hand so we could hold her in place with the other.

I"m so sad. This was my place to go when I wanted to have an awesome steak. Unfortunately there been some changes. No longer selling the port-house. Got myself a ribeye this time. The calamari's breading was falling apart and tasted a bit frozen still. Mushrooms and steak both didn't have seasoning and tasted really greasy. I had to keep adding salt as I was eating. I switched out the mushrooms for a steak soup to see maybe that would be better but that was also missing seasoning. I think the best part of the meal was the bread in the beginning. The waiter was really nice as well. And the guy in the entrance was fantastic. He seems like he real cared about the experience of the customers. Him and the waitress is the reason I'm not leaving a lower rating as I was planning. And also the reason I'll try to come back to see if this was just a fluke of experience with the meal.

11/10 new your strip and baked potato. Would also strongly recommend the root beer! 0 regrets, great stop.

We had a gift card so we only paid about $20 and still felt like that was too much. The place was packed on a Monday night so it has its fans, but we thought the food was terrible. The artichoke dip had very little flavor but our steaks were really bad. We ordered them medium rare and they were served well done and the texture was weird. They were tough and almost didn't seem like steak. We did like the salad and baked potato. Service was really good, we had a great server.

I came because a local recommended them. The outside of the building is showing its age as well as the inside, but it is nice overall. I ordered the Filet with salad and fries. The steak was cooked properly but lacked any flavor. They wrap bacon around the steak, but it did not add much. The food was hot and fresh. I was told it is a step above Longhorn, but my experience would rate this below Longhorn.

However, additional details create a loving connection - it's off-Broadway central location, the copper-paneled ceiling that mimics warm conversations in varied spaces (cocktail, chef's counter, expandable tables for groups, and outdoor), fresh, locally-sourced ingredients with service to match. It's the place where I had my first glass of Turley Zinfandel (education alongside), and the place I will always return for my favorite Wagyu Beef Stroganoff (a comfort from home, but upscale). This one delivered with large, firm, expertly seasoned portobello & forest mushrooms over wide, freshly handmade pappardelle pasta that soaks up rich beef stock (a touch of black pepper) blended with crème fraîche. A generous portion of wagyu is tender and rich. PRO TIP: Mix then let it sit & marinade a minute - flavor pays in dividends. For dessert, a Valhrona Chocolate Pudding topped with whip cream and Maldon flake salt - exquisite, but expensive. The texture is comforting and delicious - olive oil adds a lingering finish with slight fruit.

I informed her that we had a reservation under my name, John, but she simply looked at her list, seemed annoyed, and told us to wait anyway. While we were waiting, we watched several parties of two arrive after us with reservations at 8:10, 8:15, and even 8:20, and they were seated before us. After waiting about 20 minutes, I went back to ask how much longer it would be. I was told it would be another 20 minutes. I reminded Carleigh that we had a reservation, and her response was, "Oh, you did?" She then asked for my full name and phone number, looked up the reservation, apologized, and immediately escorted us to a table that appeared to have been ready the entire time. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Reservations are made so guests don't have to wait behind people who arrive later. It felt like our reservation had been completely ignored until I spoke up a second time. Whether this was poor organization or a lack of attention, the level of service at the front desk was unacceptable. We came looking forward to a nice family dinner, but the experience started with unnecessary frustration and left a very poor first impression. I sincerely hope additional training is provided so this doesn't happen to other guests.

The service was also top notch. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and there was who I assume to be a manager walking around checking on both customers and the food at the buffet frequently. Unfortunately, that's where the "premium" feel ended for me. The food that I had was honestly just okay. Honestly, I don't think any of it would feel out of place at a much cheaper buffet. The prime rib was kind of dry and the crab legs were very very skinny. The food I enjoyed the most was the NY steak, red snapper, and the mussels. None of them however would be worth the price tag. All that said, if that's where my reviewed stopped, I'd probably be giving two stars. The desserts were by and far the stars of the show. The dessert table itself felt like one of those magical tables at hogwarts that's got every delicious thing imaginable. Both the presentation, and execution of each and every dessert was extremely high quality. My favorites were the bread pudding, blueberry lemony cheese cakes and creme puffs. This buffet is almost worth it for the dessert choice alone. If I were to come back, it would be on a week day where it's a little cheaper and I'd consider it a dessert trip rather than dinner.

Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and exactly the right amount of present (if you know what I mean). I enjoyed the maitake on rice with cashew cream and it was delicious. The salty mushrooms were mellowed by the chewy rice. The cashew cream gave a nice variation in texture. I didn't leave a morsel behind. The harissa carrots were nice as well. They are cooked soft and have a moderate spice level that is again contrasted by the mild labneh and tahini base. I had to save the rolls with herb better for last. Oh. My. God. These were divine. I'm a sucker for bread of any kind but these are what the Hawaiian dinner rolls wish they could be. They are perfectly pillowy and the herb butter just elevates them. Like many people, we were excited to dine at a restaurant led by a chef who has beaten Bobby Flay. We arrived for our 8:15 p.m. reservation and were seated promptly. Unfortunately, from that point on, the service became increasingly confusing. Our server seemed flustered from the beginning and even commented that she wanted to make sure everything was right for our experience. When ordering drinks, I asked for a root beer and was told they had one. A few minutes later I was informed they actually didn't and was given a Dr Pepper instead. No big deal--I didn't want to make an issue of it. The bigger problems started with the food service. There were three of us. Two ordered the filet, and one ordered the chicken. The first entrées brought to our table weren't ours at all and had to be taken away. When our actual meals arrived, they were still mixed up. I was served the chicken despite ordering the filet. The same thing happened with dessert. We ordered two Baked Alaskas and one Lemon Cake. Again, the desserts were delivered to the wrong people. These weren't major issues individually, but when they happen repeatedly throughout one meal, it takes away from what should have been an outstanding dining experience. Now for the positive... The kitchen absolutely delivered. The filet was cooked perfectly. The chicken was outstanding. Presentation was beautiful. The Baked Alaska was one of the best I've had. The food easily earns five stars. Unfortunately, the front-of-house experience did not. To make matters worse, after I finished the Dr Pepper that I hadn't originally ordered, my glass sat empty for roughly 45 minutes. No refill was offered, and I eventually had to ask for another beverage while dessert was being served. One final observation... The receipt included an optional surcharge for the back-of-house staff. I understand it could be removed upon request, but I don't believe guests should be placed in the position of deciding how restaurant employees are compensated. Pay your team well, price the menu accordingly, and let guests simply enjoy their meal. Urban Hill has one of the most talented kitchens I've experienced in quite some time. If the service can reach the same level as the food, this restaurant would easily deserve five stars.
