3-ish stars, but I'm rating 4 because our server was so incredibly kind. This was my favorite place we ate while at Snowbird. The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. I wasn't a fan of the carrots side, they were thin-ish, dry and not seasoned. The mushrooms were just ok, and needed wine butter salt or all 3. I tried the hollandaise steak sauce and it did not taste scratch made, it tasted as if it was made from a packet. The salad was fresh but bland and underwhelming. Could have used more elements. I'd have preferred a salad bar. Our child enjoyed the kid's menu salmon skewer, served with lemon and tater tots. All in all, I liked our visit, the steak was great. My husband enjoyed the wine he tried and the waitress was one of the best we've met. Steak Pit is my preferred choice over The Aerie on top of The Cliff Lodge. read more

Came here to celebrate post Speedgoat 50K and it was alright. The server was friendly, though the place seemed understaffed as she had many tables, both inside and outside to take care of. The Steak Pit is a hidden gem inside Snowbird Ski Resort that I had never visited with all my trips to Snowbird. Located on the lower level of the Resort Center this is a nice dining experience at the resort. We arrived early and were lucky to score some outside seating that is only available first come, first served. This enhanced our experience upon arrival. We dined outside underneath the Snowbird trams and adjacent to the creek. The ambiance was so nice. Tonight's special was filet mignon oscar. WOW. A juicy filet mignon with a full lobster claw meat, bearnaise sauce and served on a bed of asparagus. Everyone in our party ordered the special because it sounded so delicious and it truly was delicious. Dinners here are served with a loaf of grain bread and the Steak Pit salad bowl with their homemade house Caesar vinaigrette. They have a full wine and cocktail list and I recommend the High West Old Fashioned to start the evening. I can't believe I hadn't discovered the Steak Pit in all my visits to Snowbird. Definitely a nice dining experience with great ambiance. I'll be back again. read more

While the service was very good, food was lacking. Several of our steaks were over cooked after requesting med rare, which shouldn't be the case for a place this expensive. Mushrooms were very plain, and not very good. I liked the shared salad for the table with the vinaigrette dressing. Jesse H was our waitress and was absolutely wonderful. She made recommendations and could speak to how the Chef recommended the prime rib be cooked. She also recommended the lobster Mac and cheese. We've eaten at a few places in snowbird this week and all left us raising our eyebrows and laughing about prices and service and sometimes food. This place was great. Our server Priscilla was excellent, and no joke, the best we've had on property in all our venues. She was attentive, professional and just nice. The food was great, our steaks were spot on, and sides were great. The F and B manager stopped by, checked on us and even helped run our food when the mains were delivered. I came here with my company so we were a very large group. I got here about 10 minutes late so I wasn't with the crowd. When I found the location, I was greeted by two women gossiping and wiping down cups. I have to be standing there for about a minute before they acknowledged me. When I'm about to respond that I'm with my company, one of them cut me off and answered the other girl's question. Yes, that's extremely rude. And what's even worse is that they didn't seat me to my party! The just gave me directions where to go because they wanted to continue their gossip. Very unprofessional in my opinion. We sat down and my server forgot my drink, she forgot the table's side dishes, and she wasn't very attentive. I also ordered my filet mignon rare and it was presented to me on a sizzling hot plate. Why are y'all continuing to cook my rare steak? The end pieces were rare but obviously it was cooked medium inside. The appetizers were just ok. The bacon wrapped scallops weren't anything to rave about. They seriously used the microwave pre cooked bacon to wrap around the pre frozen scallops. The cocktail shrimp is good, but the cocktail sauce was sweet. It's like they opened up a jar of cocktail sauce and added sugar. The $15 old fashion I ordered was a joke. Although they used the high west double rye whiskey, they used the grocery store cure cream aisle maraschino cherries and not the luxardo. read more

Located in the bottom of the snowbird center, is the classic a classic steakhouse known as the steak pit. This restaurant is decorated like any modern steak house with wood paneling and leather booths. The wine selection is surprisingly good for a place in Utah, carrying several Napa varietals, albeit high dollar ones. They could benefit more from some middle priced wine. Also have beer and a full bar, but you cannot sit at the bar. I got a ribeye- it was good, well made, and no complaints at all. The meal comes with one side, we also got a potato- which was also ok. Service was good. One weird thing- the booth lights are all in direct line of sight of your company and the wait staff. Overall good for what it is, could be better. read more

This was the only place that' was serving food in Snowbird so we came here. My friend told me this place is like the Sizzler with a high price, I was laughing saying No Way!! Because the place is very nice with a bunch of wine displayed in the front. First they gave us this sprouted bread that was very good with chive butter and also gave us family style salad and I had it with their house made Caesar Italian dressing that was interesting and good. I ordered NY strip medium rare with mushroom peppercorn sauce, side of asparagus, my friend ordered Trout. My steak wasn't medium rare, more like medium, dry, no fat at all, the quality was livery low, I guess it's like the Sizzler, even though I've never been to Sizzler... And the trout was so small, they both had a high price like at the high end steak house... i wish their protein quality was better, but I probably won't go back there... read more

Made reservations on OpenTable and I recalling asking to sit outside as it gave you 2 options. Instead was inside in a very dark corner had to use my cell phone light just to see the menu. Really awkward if you ask me, I asked if the salmon was wild caught or farm raised? The server came back and said "they got rid of wild caught cause people said the farm raised tasted better". I was like what? LOL most people can't taste a difference but the healthy aspect of it while it has a dark natural color and richer flavor since the fish actually have to swim and work for their food instead of eating some sort of feed in a pool of water that doesn't look that great. But anyway, ordered the salmon Florentine and the Wagyu NY steak. The 2 desserts were quite delicious- double chocolate decadent cake & mascarpone lemon cheesecake. Next time if I go it will for sure to make sure we get outside seating as it was just too beautiful outside with the mountains and lush green to ignore. read more

I will not be coming back. All of our main dishes were overcooked, severely. Service was mediocre at best. The only thing I would order again would be the lobster mac & cheese. I considered 2 stars, but based on how much the Steak Pit charges for their entrees 1 star is probably generous. The artichoke starter was anemic, and our steak was very poorly made. I am no chef, but from the same NY strip cut I could have prepared it 3 times better at 1/10th the cost. Probably the worst steak I have had from a restaurant in 10 years. The quality of the service was also pretty underwhelming as our friends had to wait the better part of 20 minutes for our waiter to bring out their salad dressing. "The best steak in town" Eh, yeah, but it's also pretty much the only steak in town. All you need to do is check out the photo for this restaurant on Snowbird's website to understand what people are complaining about. They just throw the steaks on a grill or pit of some sort and don't pay any attention to the coloration. Last year when I ordered a Ribeye rare plus I was warned that it would be "chewy." Okay, this waitress thinks I'm a dumb kid, I thought. I didn't change my requested temperature. The steak was chewy and gristly, totally inedible in parts. The menu has the key omission of an affordable entree such as a burger (best they can do is potstickers for $21). They also skimp on large format cuts. Most steakhouses take pride in offering great burgers and huge steaks. Here, they take pride in locking you into something chewy. read more

Food is mediocre, but acceptable if you're hungry enough and there aren't many options available. The worst thing about this place is the service. Upon arrival we were greeted by an incredibly rude hostess. We were walking in front of her, but were not sitting down anywhere yet and she proceeds to exclaim, "I will seat you. Wait for me. I will seat you, okay? I will seat you." In between these statements I did tell her "Okay, we are waiting for you," but she kept repeating her statements. She then gestures at a table. We have a toddler and prefer a booth. My husband makes this request, and she resists. He insists that we would like a booth. She openly sighs and rolls her eyes as she says, "Fine," while placing our menus on the booth's table. At this point, I'm pretty fed up with her. I proceed to ask her, "What's the problem here? You seem to have a huge attitude." She replies that there is nothing wrong and she has seated us where we wanted. Then scrambles off. I do not know why the hostess has a power trip problem. It appears that the only area in her life that she can exert authority is by seating people where she deems fit and we must all abide by her or else she will have to act like a petulant child by scrunching up her face as if she sucked on a lemon too long. Could be because I am Asian, I noticed she was not acting this way with other customers who were all white. Our server was better, but she neglected to tell us the specials. Overall a poor experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially those who are ethnically and culturally diverse - in other words, not white. read more

Chrystal was a fantastic server ! The filet was thick, well seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare. the peppercorn New York steak was very good but not as good as the filet. The Alaskan crab legs were the best I have had. They were large, sweet, firm, and extremely flavorful. The artichoke was good but a little tough. The vegetables, carrots, snow peas, and asparagus were very good and not overcooked. I enjoy coming to the Steak Pit, it's a yearly tradition I have with one of my good friends. Service is top notch and the food is pretty good. This year, I ordered the ribeye with a side of bearnaise sauce and some bacon wrapped scallop. The ribeye was good, but it didn't hold a candle to my friend's filet! I always enjoy the bearnaise sauce here, it's not too sour and adds some nice flavor to the steak. I absolutely love the family style salad they give with entrees. They give you ceasar and blue cheese dressing. Can't say too much about the ceasar, but the blue cheese is house made heaven. We even had the server leave it so we could eat it with the steak! We stayed at Snowbird for a week and were fairly underwhelmed by the food at the resort. The '71 restaurant and Atrium breakfast were both especially disappointing (turns out we should have been doing room service for breakfast all along). So saving the most expensive meal until the last night, we were nervous that we'd be let down again, but we had a couple of hundred dollars of food credit at the resort we had to use based on our stay and dine package. Honestly, one of the better steaks I've had in years. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The artichoke and shrimp cocktail apps were right on, too. The sides could use some work. Fries, please! Steak and fries are the new thing...drop the baked potato, please! But the steak (ribeye) was so good, and the service was fantastic (again a departure from other restaurants at Snowbird). I can't not give this 5 stars. My wife had the filet and also raved about it. I wish I could remember the servers name. I want to say Matthew (?), but can't be sure. He's from Philly. He took amazing care of us, and the restaurant's Covid protocol was appropriate without being annoying. read more

As you can see by my 2 lifetime Yelp post, I rarely review a restaurant unless it's just a really bad experience. Where to begin? The 1 lbs of crab meat I ordered for my entree tasted light it had been caught, frozen, thawed out, frozen again, thawed and served. It was trash. The ambience in the back dining room was miserable. It was literally so dark I couldn't see my guest face. I asked the waitress to turn the lights up and she replied, there's huge windows and natural light? Like what? The "natural" light on a cloud day tucked at the bottom of a mountain and a forest, isn't that natural. It was dark. We then asked to move outside, the hostess in his sparkling men's warehouse suit told me that they'd get us outside as soon as a table opened when we first arrived. He did not. When I went and looked there was a table open but no heads up to us. He told me that we had already ordered and couldn't move outside. Why in the world does that matter if we move outside. We exchanged a 30 second eye contact of silence and I prevailed and starting moving our shit outside. Our waitress was, questionable to say the least after her natural light comment, and she was on the same team as the host master about the whole "you've already ordered you can't move" rule. No food was on our table other than your rock hard bread. No lie, the place on the other side of the fence with Living on a Prayer playing looked way cooler, and I imagine much cheaper, my $190 meal all together was just so terrible, the experience worse.
