The sandwiches are mediocre at best, but soup is the main focus. The soup is good, but it definitely has that "franchise" quality to it. At first it explodes with flavor but halfway through you realize how overly seasoned they are and your mouth becomes numb. Typical of food that has been sitting. Also, all my ingredients (seafood especially) seemed like it was frozen at one point. Oh, and the prices are ridiculous. Tried to look at their menu online. You have to put in a location before you can get a menu. Page never let's you put in a zip code and never finishes loading. Just keeps saying "loading." Website needs fixing. And now someone from Zoup responded to my post by asking me to e-mail computer information privately to her, but FAILED to provide me with an e-mail address so I could do so. Mullgatawney. It's amazing. Unfortunately, it's not there every day. Some of their other soups are great, some of them are just ok. I havent tried one yet that i didn't like. WOW! What a find, especially on a cold, windy day in Chicago. I had the vegetarian split pea soup which was so good! My husband had the Southwest Turkey sandwich and loved it. Really good food but what keeps me coming back is the great service here. There are a million places in the city to get soup and salad or sandwich. However, the folks here are so friendly and go above and beyond what is expected of them. They remember your name, they joke around with you and my order is always fresh and correct. I'm at odds with the rest of the reviewers here. I didn't think the soup was so good: salty, a little oily even. But what I really didn't like was the deceptive way they list nutrition information: in the fine print they tell you the "low calories" which they boast about on their website is NOT for the 12 ounce "cup" (let alone the 16 ounce "bowl"), but for the 8 ounce "side" That's just wrong. read more

this place was awful. we got the potato cheddar cheese soup, there was one potato and the cheese was pastey tasting. got the chicken club and the inside of the bread was mushy. co-worker got the chicken chili and there was corn husk in it only part that was good was the broth. i do not recommend this place. $32.00 down the drain. read more

Love this place! Tasty soups and salads, quick service, the opportunity to sample soups before ordering. Manager Ryan is very friendly and customer-oriented. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that more often than not (and I eat here almost every weekday), the cashier does not listen to my order and I have to repeat it (Me: "I would like a combo with a small Caesar salad, side of lobster bisque and French bread, to go, please." I heard this place gets packed during lunch so I arrived a tad early in order to beat the rush. I was able to find a comfy booth which was certainly a hot commodity. I saw folks hovering and swooping in even before people took their last bite of food! Vultures! I wish they had more seating because it got uncomfortable with people standing over you. If I hadn't arrived early, I would have been annoyed waiting for a seat too. It was my first time at a Zoup so I had no idea that you get a bunch of free samples as you move forward in line. I tasted 2-3 which were all very good. The menu changes daily at each location but I'm sure they have a few staples that always make the cut. I had a small cup of crab bisque that came with a piece of sourdough bread (or wheat). Definitely a good choice! I was trying to keep the calories to a minimum otherwise I would have gone back for seconds or had the soup in a bread bowl. Maybe next time! Anyway, overall it was good. I thought it was just ok and overpriced. Got some crab bisque , a chicken sandwich and a fountain drink. It was 18.00 . The soup was very bland and kind of strange for a bisque. This is the time of year when only a hot bowl of soup will do. I was so excited to see this place open, close to the office, so many choices...only to have my hopes and dreams for the perfect bowl go down the drain. The soup is made with some type of artificial thickening agent and the Cobb salad forget it, Zoup, please whatever you're putting on the Cobb that resembles guacamole please stop! It tasted very artificial and please use better quality bacon. I know lunch downtown isn't cheap, however, $9.00 for a low quality, processed lunch was very disappointing. Great selection of hot and ready soups. Free samples while you wait to order. I've gone back 2 days in a row and have been pleased with both the lemon basil chicken, and the turkey chili. The combos are perfect portions. The SW turkey and chicken Toscana are both solid choices! The seating is limited, but the service is good and quick. read more

I understand others first instinct to rate this place higher, I really do. Living in a cold weather city, we are always wanting a soup place like on Seinfeld with wonderful homemade soups. This is NOT the place. I have tried many of the soups here, grasping, hoping that this would be my go-to soup place. But, every one of the soups is completely overdone with salt. The crab bisque and spicy crab with rice are ok. Lobster bisque is ok. The Italian pasta with veggies is disgusting, I took one bite and threw away. The soup was just okay. The bread was cold and bland. Also, they don't differentiate to-go and eat-in orders at lunch, and give everyone a full set of plastic and out order in a paper bag. Went to Zoup! for a salad...big mistake. I really wasn't frilled with the selection but ordered the Loco Burrito salad. Major disappointment. Our company had lunch catered by Zoup today, and couldn't be more impressed with the customer service. We ordered online for pick up, only to receive a call 20 minutes later from Zoup offering free delivery. Everything was organized and packaged perfectly, and they even offered to come up and set everything up for us. More importantly-- the food was all amazing. I'm personally a huge fan of the Chicken Pot Pie soup, but our staff also really enjoyed the Corn and Roasted Red Pepper soup. We'll definitely be placing catering orders here again in the future. read more

I've never been to their restaurant/store but we had them come to our work as part of Fooda and let me tell you the Lobster Bisque was amazing! I honestly love soup and eat it year round at any restaurant I go to. My husband hates when we go to a Mexican joint know for it's tacos and I order chicken soup. So I'm not picky but have tried just about every soup there is - and this is one of my top 3 Lobster Bisque (Wildfire has a good one and Joe's Prime Seafood have the best). I can't wait to try more... I only had the half serving with a half sandwich... the chicken breast sandwich was ok. Nothing great and next time I'll just skip it altogether and get the large serving soup! read more
