Turkey burger and side of butternut squash soup.
    Joe V.

Overall a decent restaurant. I agree with the consensus that it is overpriced. Portions weren't bad though as several people said. The roasted cauliflower was decent but the dates were all at the bottom of the bowl. The butternut squash soup was solid. Unfortunately the turkey burger was very bland and didn't have much flavor. Overall for a healthy option I would recommend it. I was in the area for work and it can definitely be difficult to find restaurants with wholesome, non-fatty, non-fried options. In this case, I would prefer something more on the healthy side and sacrifice a little bit of flavor.

This restaurant is so beautiful inside. Described as new American food. Fresh farm to table. I wouldn't say the food matches the vibe, unfortunately. My partner got spaghetti squash casserole and added shrimp. The casserole was pretty good but lacked salt. I've made this at home so it was overall disappointing. The shrimp were overcooked and slightly. My Chinese chicken salad had all promising ingredients but was not flavorful in the slightest. The dressing was the star of the show, but still needed salt. The service was attentive but we found paper in a drink, had to ask for salt and pepper (but may be a personal preference) and the people next to us didn't get the correct food. But they were jerks, ate the whole meal and then wanted a refund because "they're on the road" and had to get out. The way the manager and waitress handled that situation was very professional. The other table clearly had never worked service jobs before. With lots of amazing options for food in Chicago, we will probably not be back.

We've been a few times and it's always great. Dennis took care of us today and was very attentive. I ordered the Turkey Burger with a side of Kale which was great and started with the Cauliflower. When you get a bite with the dates it really pulls the dish together.

A few blocks off the Magnificent Mile, this was a great scratcher-made, plant-forward restaurant for all eaters. Lots of veg and gluten free options. Flavors are strong and balanced. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Open airy space feels large in a crowded city. It was hard to choose what to eat!

We have been to True Food Kitchen locations in the past. We decided to try this one in Chicago. The food is definitely consistent and tasted the same. They had a couple new seasonal items on their menu, which I always appreciate. The service was a little bit slow as they were busy and seemed shortstaffed. Overall, the vibe was great and we really enjoyed our experience. We came at happy hour and tried a lot of their items from the menu that were a part of the happy hour. We will definitely return again.

Loved the vibe of this place. Open with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. Vegetarian dishes with the option to add meat. I am not a vegetarian, but had the cauliflower appetizer and it was AMAZING. I also opted for the Spicy Panang Curry Bowl with no meat and it was so flavorful with a good kick of spice. I'd definitely return the next time I am in Chicago.

We had a lovely waitress that was attentive and friendly. The food came out fairly soon. The burger and cauliflower were good. The cookies were a little dry like the flour used in them. I personally think it could have used more vanilla, butter, a little more flavor overall, ironically enough I would get them again. Good vegan options and healthier options available.

I've been wanting to try True Food for a long time and finally got it on DoorDash for dinner last night... wow what a JOKE. We paid 80 DOLLARS for two entrees plus steak bites for both of us. I understand it's grass fed/organic and I'm willing to pay for quality but the portions were laughable for the price. The steak bites were overcooked and dry. The sweet potato hash was clearly sitting out alllllll day. It was literally so dry and waxy that after trying a few pieces it was inedible. Like literally dry caked your mouth. The carrots were decent but again tiny portion. The shrimp was cooked well, that was about the only redeeming quality. After $40 pp and inedible sides we were still hungry after dinner. That's ridiculous. I'll never order takeout from here, complete robbery.

Always a solid spot. True food GOOD food every time. Never disappoints. Started with the guac with chips and sweet potato chips. Good but small portion. The ancient grains bowl is hands down my favorite dish I've had here. So flavorful and very filling. Big portion size. For dessert we shared the seasonal tofu tart (very zingy and the base was nutty and had some coconut almost like a protein bar) and the chocolate chip cookie with coconut vanilla ice cream. I really liked the tart!

This year I was so excited to bring my family and Ema was the only restaurant in Chicago I couldn't wait for them to try. I booked it as our final meal in Chicago and lay awake at 4am being so disappointed in my choice. Our server's greeting was monotone and emotionless, which I realize now, would be foreshadowing the meal to come. Ordered the following 1) Smoky eggplant- arrived appearing as an unappetizing curdled purple grey mush. This was the worst tasting baba ghanouj I have ever eaten. It was acidic and had the texture of cottage cheese. The only redeeming thing about this appetizer was the warm naan. 2) house made stratciatella with side of green falafels- The stratciatella was bland and stringy. I would not order this dish expecting the creamy interior of typical burrata. However, if you like string cheese mixed with heavy cream- you may enjoy this dish. The tomatoes and basil were good. 3) chicken kefta- kefta was bland, rice even blander . 4) short rib with polenta- bland and the meat and polenta had the same texture, which seems impossible but somehow the plating was over complicated by the addition of mushy dates and grapes. 5) buttered noodles- my 8 year old ordered this. It was decent with a good amount of Parmesan and cooked perfectly al dente. By the end of the meal, I was so shocked by how terrible the food was I didn't even want to order the sticky date cake that was my main purpose for returning to this restaurant.
