Turkey burger and side of butternut squash soup.
    Joe V.

Overall a decent restaurant. I agree with the consensus that it is overpriced. Portions weren't bad though as several people said. The roasted cauliflower was decent but the dates were all at the bottom of the bowl. The butternut squash soup was solid. Unfortunately the turkey burger was very bland and didn't have much flavor. Overall for a healthy option I would recommend it. I was in the area for work and it can definitely be difficult to find restaurants with wholesome, non-fatty, non-fried options. In this case, I would prefer something more on the healthy side and sacrifice a little bit of flavor.

All staff is very friendly and effective. Various options of healthy food, but also some options for those who loves a burger! Lots of tables inside and outside and great for all sizes of groups.

This restaurant is so beautiful inside. Described as new American food. Fresh farm to table. I wouldn't say the food matches the vibe, unfortunately. My partner got spaghetti squash casserole and added shrimp. The casserole was pretty good but lacked salt. I've made this at home so it was overall disappointing. The shrimp were overcooked and slightly. My Chinese chicken salad had all promising ingredients but was not flavorful in the slightest. The dressing was the star of the show, but still needed salt. The service was attentive but we found paper in a drink, had to ask for salt and pepper (but may be a personal preference) and the people next to us didn't get the correct food. But they were jerks, ate the whole meal and then wanted a refund because "they're on the road" and had to get out. The way the manager and waitress handled that situation was very professional. The other table clearly had never worked service jobs before. With lots of amazing options for food in Chicago, we will probably not be back.

We've been a few times and it's always great. Dennis took care of us today and was very attentive. I ordered the Turkey Burger with a side of Kale which was great and started with the Cauliflower. When you get a bite with the dates it really pulls the dish together.

I had Gerard and he was phenomenal with both his service and his recommendations! I had the ancient grain bowl with chicken and also the spiced carrot cake, both I will get again!

We have been to True Food Kitchen locations in the past. We decided to try this one in Chicago. The food is definitely consistent and tasted the same. They had a couple new seasonal items on their menu, which I always appreciate. The service was a little bit slow as they were busy and seemed shortstaffed. Overall, the vibe was great and we really enjoyed our experience. We came at happy hour and tried a lot of their items from the menu that were a part of the happy hour. We will definitely return again.

Such a lovely environment to dine in.

As a newly diagnosed celiac it was critical to find a restaurant that could assure no gluten contamination. True North not only provided the gluten free food, but it was fantastic. Had the grass fed burger and kale side salad. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. Will be back.

A few blocks off the Magnificent Mile, this was a great scratcher-made, plant-forward restaurant for all eaters. Lots of veg and gluten free options. Flavors are strong and balanced. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Open airy space feels large in a crowded city. It was hard to choose what to eat!

    Are the takeout containers compostable?

The bottoms definitely ar compostable; I don't know about the clear tops - they seem to be plastic, but it's possible they are a kind of compostable material; I should have asked when I was there recently.

The fries were perfect but I couldn't get with the steak and unfortunately, sent it back. I tried to do it medium but got the same result. I was hurt because everyone's pictures of this dish is what led me in here but they couldn't get it right! Maybe they were having an off night? From the food and ambiance to the consistently outstanding service, everything is truly top-tier. This visit was just as exceptional as every one before it. We shared the Sweet Corn Hummus, Spicy Whipped Feta, Brussels Sprouts, Crispy Wild Mushrooms, Crispy Potatoes, Grilled Chicken, and the Lamb & Beef Kefta. Every single dish was outstanding. I wish I had taken more photos, but we were too busy enjoying the food as it arrived at the table! For drinks, my sister loved the Strawberry Rose Paloma, and I enjoyed a glass of Kir-Yianni Sparkling Rosé, which paired beautifully with the meal. The warm, seasoned pita deserves its own recognition. It's soft, pillowy, and absolutely addictive. Honestly, it's hard not to fill up on the pita and spreads before the rest of the meal even arrives. Our server struck the perfect balance between friendly and attentive, without ever feeling intrusive. We usually make room for dessert, but we were completely stuffed this time. In the past, though, I've loved both the Warm Sticky Date Cake and the Frozen Greek Yogurt, and I'd recommend either without hesitation. I was secretly hoping for a tiny scoop of frozen yogurt as a birthday surprise, but my server didn't mention it and I didn't remind him of the celebration (and honestly, we were way too full anyway ). As a huge Top Chef fan, it's always special dining at Chef CJ Jacobson's restaurant. I had the opportunity to meet him during my very first visit to Ema, and he was incredibly gracious. His creativity and attention to flavor are evident in every dish. Ema continues to set the standard for what a great dining experience should be. It's the restaurant I recommend most often when people ask me where to eat in Chicago, and it remains my go-to place for special celebrations. I can't wait to come back again soon! #ImNotAFoodie #ImJustAGirlWhoLovesFood #YelpEliteSquad PS: the hotel next door no longer provides parking validation.

It's nice that the other French place, offering nearly the exact same offering here in the exact same spot, was replaced with a worthy newcomer. Bandol checks all the boxes you'd want.

It was ultra-soft, with a minuscule dab of chocolate. The poached eggs were completely flavorless. They might have been old eggs six weeks away from the farm, I don't know, but all I could taste was the chalky whites. And by the way, poached eggs should always be served with a spoon without the customer having to ask. How do you eat poached eggs with a fork? I asked for my English muffin to be "burnt" (crispy.) They were soft and gummy, just like the croissant. And no jam or jelly was offered. The waiter was polite but inattentive. It's annoying to say, specifically, "I'll have two poached eggs with crispy bacon" and then have the waiter come back and say, "do you want sausage or bacon with that?" And like most restaurants these days, they've switched to that thick-cut bacon that can't be cooked crispy. The breakfast came with a very small side of potatoes, which tasted fine. And I had some green tea that was...okay, but not even remotely like the delicious green tea that most Japanese restaurants offer. I asked my waiter to clear away my plate when I was done, but he either didn't hear me or misunderstood, because he left the plate sitting there. Lastly, when people are eating breakfast, especially on a weekday, they usually have some place they need to get to, and don't want to linger. It took too long after I put my card down for the waiter to pick it up. Every one of these things is a minor complaint (except for the tasteless eggs.) But add them all up and it makes me think -- even though I'm in the area frequently -- "I'll never go back here for breakfast." Overall, a disappointing experience.

We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. Everything was very well seasoned and the flavors really popped out of each dish! The spicy sausage was very similar to other Chinese sausages but less sweet and added a serious heat. It was a great way to start the meal. The scallion pancakes were flakey and crispy and seemed to be homemade. The soup dumplings had an incredible amount of soup inside and the flavors were better than even Din Tai Fong! The skins were just thick enough to hold the soup in but thin enough to be enjoyable and not overwhelm the meat and soup inside. The dry chili chicken was amazingly spicy and flavorful! Be aware that if you have difficulty with spice that you might want to order a lower level of heat! it was too spicy for a couple of us!
