    Cold Roast beef

Can't speak on ambiance or service as I ordered from Uber Eats. Noticed Uber eats had a BOGO for Mr. Submarine, so I got BOGO from Mr. Submarine. Ordered the roast beef because that was the vibe of the day, and the vibe of the day was the right choice on this day because the sandwich met my expectations. How I remember and describe Mr. Submarine is exactly that; it met my expectations. Fresh bread, but nothing great = 3 stars. Fresh deli meat and veggies, but nothing unique = 3 stars. Mr. Submarine will provide you with a sandwich that fills your stomach and silence your mouth. No complaints, no complements.

    Mr sub king size

my coworker, who's really into Arby's (which should be illegal), recommended Mr. Submarine. I should've known what I was in for. Here's how it went down. First off, the cashier was fantastic--super friendly and welcoming. The sub? It arrived almost instantly, like they had it ready before I even ordered. And at $9.20 for a king-sized sub, it was a bargain. But let's talk about the sub itself. I had seen pictures of their ham beforehand, and it looked iffy. Spoiler: it was even worse in person. The ham was like they raided the bargain bin at the deli--pretty gross. On the bright side, the tomatoes and onions were fresh, and they didn't skimp on the napkins. The bread was soft and decent, which was nice. But the ham? Total disaster. I've had better meat from 7/11. In summary: if you want friendly service and a fast, cheap bite, Mr. Submarine's got you covered. But if you care about what's inside your sub, you might want to look elsewhere. Even Subway is better than this, and there are definitely better options out there.

Place was pretty much empty when I came. It's a diner theme with red, black and white everywhere. The place isn't spotless, but cleaner than places like this typically are. There's old school ceiling fans helping circulate the air conditioning so it feels great inside. They actually have a good amount of seating as well so you know this place has probably been around forever. The menu misses some key items they have at other franchises like a gyro cheeseburger. Instead they just have a "steakburger" which I'm assuming is chopped steak. I settled for a gyro sub. Shortly after sitting down I heard what sounded like a microwave start up the start buzzing which is never good. My gyro sub was ready about two minutes later for a total of about 3-4 minutes to make which if you know how to cook is scary. They definitely microwaved the meat. The sandwich was just ok. Nothing really stood out. The gyro meat had some salty patches and then some black peppery patches. To be honest I thought the entire thing would be low-grade salty meat on the verge of expiring, but they surpassed expectations. The sub featured tzatziki sauce, tomatoes and onions. The tzatziki sauce was not only watery, but barely noticeable which makes you miss that distinct taste. Price wise you're looking at $7.25 for a regular sub. If you're into quick, microwaved food then this is the place otherwise there's plenty of better spots.

    Italian Salami Sub

Sandwich was just ok, nothing special about. I had the Italian sub with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, Mayo, and the cold cuts. The bread was a bit hard for my taste, and the sesame seeds adding a different taste!to the sub. The service was ok, and they were quiet busy, with the indoor dinning.

$20 for two meals? And it was done within seconds after ordering?!?! I 100000% recommend this location & Mr.Sub overall

I was scrolling along downtown on my lunch break looking for something good to eat. Bam smack to my surprise there was Mr. Submarine. I haven't eaten at this place in a long time. This use to be my go to place after a night out of partying with my friends. Actually, I prefer Mr. Submarine over Subway, Jimmy Johns and Potbelly. I had a ham & cheese sub with chips and a drink for like $6.00 and some change. You can't beat that price especially in downtown Chicago. During lunch hour the line was long but the staff moved quickly to make sure everyone in line was served and out the door. I love their bread it is so soft and fresh. The whole quality of a sub made freshly with just enough mayo, loads of meat, cheese etc it's good enough for me. Quick Service & Inexpensive lunch deals is a plus in my book.

Normally I hate those kinds of large group dinners, but this was the perfect spot for it. The service was absolutely wonderful. I don't know how our server stayed so cool and calm with a group that size. We got a variety of things. EVERYTHING was amazing. If you have seen any of my other reviews, I always get a meatball when I'm at a place that has them. They almost never live up to my expectation. But this place has the new gold standard for a meatball. It was everything you want. It is fork tender, full of flavor, no chewy ground up bits. The pizzas were authentic and thin. We had visited Florence last year, and one of the numerous wonderful moments of our trip to Italy was seeing "Il Porcellino" - the lucky bronze boar fountain that draws tourists from around the world. A copy of the boar stands proudly near the entrance of the restaurant, and though it is not as old as the original 1634 sculpture, it was a charming reminder of our amazing Italian holiday. Did I mention that the weekday Happy Hour (4-6PM) specials are quite good? The specials are served only at the bar area, so you might have to wait a few minutes for available seating. We started with some drinks, including two kinds of Negroni. The wild mushroom arancini (5 little balls for $6) were the smallest I've tried, but they were creamy and melt-in-your mouth delicious. The whipped ricotta and jam beautifully served on a strip of toasty focaccia was a unique taste sensation. Prime beef meatballs and short rib sliders on toasted ciabatta bread also hit the spot. Even though we were merely dining at the bar, we enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. There are lots of photos on the walls, interesting lighting from the ceiling, nice serving dishes, and servers who seem to know who their regular diners are. We look forward to returning to Il Porcellino, to bask in that indescribable feeling of being in Italy again.

It's one of those places that you find yourself talking about long after the meal is over. The garlic bread alone is worth the visit. They pour what feels like a gallon of garlic butter over it, and somehow it's still never enough. It's rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. We order it every single time and would probably be disappointed if we didn't. The real star of the show, though, is the lasagna. Between the two of us, we've had lasagna at countless restaurants, and nothing has come close to this one. It's hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. Perfect layers, incredible flavor, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to savor every bite. Their Grey Goose espresso martini is also unmatched. We've tried espresso martinis all over Chicago, and this one is still our favorite. It's smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to start or end the meal. The atmosphere is another reason we love coming here. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, with a dark, moody vibe that makes it feel special without being stuffy. It's the perfect date night spot whether you're celebrating something or just looking for a great night out together. If you're visiting Chicago and love Italian food, Il Porcellino is a must. Great food, amazing drinks, beautiful ambiance, and a meal you'll be thinking about long after you've left. We make a point to visit every time we're in town, and it never disappoints.

I would say it's a romantic setting, a bit dark in the restaurant. Us old folks needed the table lamp to read the menu better. I had read good things about the meatballs and bread as an appetizer so we shared that. Five meatballs, I got two. I thought they should have been hotter but I still enjoyed them. The wife wasn't impressed. Not sure about the younger folks. We shared a bottle of Classico Chianti, Montescondo which was very good. Boyfriend had the braised beef short rib. He seemed to enjoy it. Daughter had gnocchi. Wifey had Bucatini Amatriciana while I ate penne bolognese. Wifey and I shared an order of chicken Parmesan. So much of it the kids took home almost half. The wife had wanted to get the tagliatelle carbonara but with certain ingredients. They weren't sure if they could do it since the sauce was already made. She switched to the Bucatini but the server came back later with the carbonara for her to enjoy on the house. They are very nice here. Daughter was given a celebration baby gelato she enjoyed by the restaurant. We ordered two tiramisu deserts. They were #$@& Hugh. So to wrap up we had fantastic service, great meals and Hugh yummy deserts. Oh, the wine was very good. Thanks to the restaurant staff for this wonderful dining experience.
