I ordered lunch from Zoup! today on GrubHub. Unfortunately, my order was late which meant that Good, Really Good Chicken Noodle, and Grilled Cheese Sandwich were both cold. Ok so probably not Zoup!'s fault as they cannot control GrubHub deliveries. What I was upset about is the quality of the food that I received. The grilled cheese was not even toasted, cut into strips and mashed all together. The Chicken Noodle Soup was lacking the basic necessities. After paying $17.20 for the large (32 oz) soup so that I could take some home I find that more than 50% is broth and there was barely any noodles, chicken, or vegetables. Very disappointing and would not recommend them following this experience. read more

Maybe I am at fault for ordering a salad, but it was awful. Not only did they forget my bread (which I explicitly ordered....I need my carbs, yo!) but the salad was bland and boring and lacking. The menu indicated there was gorgonzola in the salad, but I could not find any. I added chicken as a protein (and upcharge) but there was not much at all. The salad also included the brownish ends of the romaine hearts - most people cut those off and discard! Lastly, the entire salad had an almost "chemical" taste to it. This is a great option if you want a quick bite to eat for lunch. They're menu is similar to Panera in that they specialize in soups, salads, and sandwiches. They also offer half sizes (similar to the you pick 2). I ordered the cali chicken sandwich and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The sandwich was tasty but I found the soup to be really salty. They have a great rewards program (which I'm a sucker for) so I will be going back. But will definitely be ordering something other than the chicken noodle soup. read more

3:24am I work near the Zoup on Adams. On 8/18 a friend and myself decide to go to get lunch from here. I hadn't been here since the pandemic started. As you all may not know since the start of the pandemic Im keenly aware of what the individuals who prepare my food do behind the counter. As I was ready to order I was waiting for the individuals before me to order. And a watch like a hawk. I noticed the individual who was on sandwich duty on his cell phone. No worries he was wearing gloves, so we should be fine. Then he takes his hand and wipes his brow with the back of it., no worries again, he's wearing gloves. The individuals who were in front of me ordered a sandwich. So the cashier another gentleman who was not wearing a mask verbally signals to the sandwich guy the order. Fully expecting a glove disposal, hand wash and glove change, that DID NOT HAPPEN. With the same cell phone infected sweaty brow gloves that delicious sandwich was made. what did I just see. Why cross contamination sir! But I'm a.... What is the opposite of pessimist.... Well I'm one of those people. Everything tastes better at Zoup ...and that's me. I usually get a combo most of the times soup and a sandwich. By far the most fav used to be the chicken Tuscany in sandwiches but there's a new winner now ...Southwest Turkey. This looks simple with the list of ingredients it got yet beats most sandwiches when it comes to taste..simply delicious. Favorite in soups is chicken veggie chop chop soup. It's a really good combination of chicken and and veggies as the name says and fills you great, other favorite is chicken tortilla. This particular location is really busy at noon. Better try ordering online/ Ritual to save yourself some time. Every time I try new combination I keep thinking how can the food taste so good no matter what you try. I am totally SHOOK at how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING THIS "Spicy Chicken 'Chilada Soup" was that I picked up at Sprouts! I had this delivered (glass jar did not break up three flights of stairs by my Instacart delivery girl) due to my being sick. Just to say that usually I have some Louisiana soups, gumbos etc stashed away in my freezer for being sick rainy days, this was a breath of fresh air since I was totally out of stock. I am from the South, NEW ORLEANS, so for me to find a soup that taste like it actually has some flare, sass and basicly the quantity and quality of flavors to create a party in your mouth, was amazing while being sick since you literally have no taste much when ill. I hate to say that I was underwhelmed since the service here was really great. They've got a smart set up that kept the line moving fast even though it was snack dab in lunch rush hour downtown. The prices are also not bad for the area. And they let you try samples! But alas I just didn't like the soup I got (broccoli cheddar) and the season bread bowl it came in had a funky taste like it was stale. I'm a huge bread fan and love the taste of bread dipped in soup so it takes a lot for me to say that. There was also the other issue of the soup portion being way off for the bread bowl. Almost the whole bread bowl was left after the soup was eaten (see pic). Panera would be better. I might be back but I will probably try the lobster bisque and skip the bread bowl. read more

I went into this pretty optimistic but was frankly pretty disappointed. It has a very similar menu to Panera, but without the execution. The food was just okay at best, which made the high prices even tougher to swallow. IU got some kind of Southwest Sandwich (I forget what it was called exactly) and the Classic Mac, neither of which I'd recommend. The Mac was super watery, and the pie crust topping just made it mushy. Additionally, it took a long time to get our food, which was surprising given that it was almost empty and we went during peak lunch hours. Disappointing experience, and I likely won't be going back here. If you are looking for a quick lunch in the loop, there are way better options. read more

Soup buffet with tasting available. They have good options for sandwiches, salad or power bowls. The only difference between a salad and a power bowl is that, power bowl has 20g extra protein, no carbs. I tried the chicken fiesta bowl and it was quite good. Served with spicy ranch dressing and loads of greens. Honestly, I couldnt make out that 20g extra protein. My recommendation is to go for soup n salad combo. OK I USUALLY NEVER WRITE REVIEWS, this is my first one. But this experience was SO BAD that I needed to write one for the sake of others going here. I went here last week and it was great. Went here again today and had THE WORST experience. I ordered the MTB sandwich to-go. When I got back to my office to eat it I was confused.... the tomato's were chopped like in a salsa, the mozzarella was balls instead of slices, there was no basil, and there was some tomato spread instead of the basaltic. Uhhh what?! So I went back and said there was something wrong with the sandwich. The woman working there was confused and asked what was wrong, so I explained to her ^. She apologized and started to remake my sandwich, great thanks. But then she WIPES HER NOSE WITH HER HANDS WITH THE GLOVES SHE IS WEARING TO MAKE THE SANDWICH. Ew!! She then goes into the back room to ask for help, touching the door and then pulling up her pants ALL WHILE WEARING THE GLOVES. Umm ok gross. She then goes on to put the tomatoes and mozzarella on. Another employee comes out and shows her how you have to pull the stems off of the basil before you put them on the sandwich. Lol. Safe to say I tossed that sandwich in the trash as soon as I got outside and got Noodles and Co. instead. Come on Zoup!, train your employees better. That was nasty. read more

The food here, from my experience, is very simple. Don't expect to be blown away. I had a roasted veggie wrap which, to my surprise, was cold. I thought it would be roasted or panini pressed. It was not. The flavors were straight forward and to the point- cheese, mayo, peppers, lots of lettuce and the cold tortilla wrap. I had the combo with a soup. I had the chicken tortilla soup and it was actually really nicely flavored. Plenty of chicken, a nice amount of tortillas and a medley of veggies. This soup is thick and hearty. Can I say disappointment? I've been getting large chicken Caesar salads from this location for a couple of years. They haven't been great, but they were pretty good--large rectangular container, romaine lettuce, dressing that at least looked somewhat freshly made, and a French bread roll. Seems that is all in the past... Here is what the menu says: Classic Chicken Caesar Romaine, Parmesan, house-made croutons, Caesar dressing. The "Caesar" salad I just took out of the bag resembles what I got before in name only. Iceberg lettuce, not romaine, creamy Caesar dressing that is oily and institutional grade, and a slice of French bread. I happened upon a piece in the Eater about Zoup opening up today in the Loop. Other than see the signage go up across from the Federal Plaza Farmer's Market, I knew nothing other than its cheeky play on the word soup. Being a ridiculously picky eater, I checked out the menu in advance and was happy to see a few options that suited me. Undeterred by the opening day line, I queued up and waited my turn. While in line I learned that their selection of 12 soups rotates daily and isn't printed on a physical menu - check out the website if you want the current selection. I also learned, which wasn't obvious on the website, that soups come in four sizes - side, cup, bowl and XL. I struck out on my first choice, Spicy Crab & Rice, being made with chicken stock it was a no-go for me. It would be nice if in addition to nutritional info, they posted the ingredients list to the website. The website does, however, share information about low-fat, dairy free, and vegetarian choices. I went with a bow of the Italian Pasta and Vegetables. All soups come with a side of bread - sourdough, multigrain or french. The soup was quite good, a bit heavy on the salt and could have been hotter, but I enjoyed it and would return for more. In addition to soup, Zoup has a small menu of salads and sandwiches. They also offer a pick two combo, which isn't advertised on the website. Despite the long lines on opening day, the store was running quite efficiently. Customer service needs some improvement. I placed my order online (so convenient!) and showed up a few minutes before my designated time to pick it up. I stood in front of the area where you can pick up your online order and waited. The woman distributing the orders did not even bother to look at me. Another employee walked by to take some bread out of the oven. He looked at me, but did not acknowledge me. I *see* you, but you no *see* me?! What the heck. Could she not hear the growling of my hungry tummy? Perhaps she didn't see me since I was off to the side and she was laser focused on the people standing in front of her? Who knows. I seriously worried for a split second that she was going to say, "No soup for you!" That, or tell me that my order failed to go through and banish me to the back of the line to wait it out with the rest of the hungry Loop worker bees. Said woman called out two orders before I called her attention and politely informed her that I was picking up an online order. She gave it to me sans attitude, which I appreciated, and I was on my merry way. Nonetheless, she should have acknowledged me in the first place. That's just standard. I tried the chicken dumpling soup, which tasted pretty good, but was nothing to write home about, unfortunately. An 8oz side will set you back $4.70 with tax so a tad bit pricey for soup, but eh, you're in Chicago and in the Loop. Prices are comparable to others in the area. The sourdough bread made it for me, and I enjoyed dipping it into the soup. I've also tried the tomato basil, but that was months ago so I can't comment on it. Despite the little snafu, I will be back. I'm a big soup lover, especially when it's cold out. Also, they let you try before you buy, which is a big plus. Do have to critique the sandwiches as being very... Bready.... Just too much bread to stuff. And for something called, "Toscana", I can't say it had much distinct flavor. I LOVE soup, therefore, I LOVE Zoup! If I could only eat one thing, especially in the cold winter months, it would be soup. I always wondered why there weren't more places that specialized in soup. And now my prayers have been answered. Let me start off by saying that I've been here half a dozen times and the staff is always super friendly. The first section of the counter is where you can try samples of as many soups as you like and they have about a dozen different kinds of soup every day. Then you move down the counter to place your order at one of the registers. They have a soup and sandwich combo that is a great deal at under $10. I keep getting the Southwest turkey, it's so good I haven't wanted to branch out yet and try any of the other sandwiches. Some of my favorite soups are (in no particular order): the chicken pot pie, corn and crab chowder, roast garlic chicken kale, lentil and the lobster bisque. so YUMMY. You must try it. Where.To. Start. I am at the middle of the road when it comes to this place. I'm willing to give this location, a second chance. As I am a, firm believer in second chances. For my first experience to Zoup! was disappointing.. I understand the lunch time rush and sometimes restaurants can be backed up.. but come on. Most of the staff seemed worn down, unfriendly and off putting. How the staff acted very different to each individual customer was concerning. I, myself was met with a bit of unfriendliness and I could have used a proper greeting when approached for my order. Waiting approximately 25 mins for my lunch is frustrating. Other than that bit of unpleasantness, Zoup's sandwich and soup was their redemption. Lobster Bisque, which is a hit or miss depending on where you go was amazing with their turkey sandwich. With each bite and sip of that combo, my frustration and anger subsided. To Zoup.. all is forgiven and I plan to see you and your lunch menu to come. All in all, what you offer to us that work in the offices surrounding your location, you do us a good service. The menu has a lot of options between soups, salads, and sandwiches and seems like it can accommodate any dietary restriction. That being said, while the food is diverse, it's not great and the price point is high. I got a sandwich and chili. The sandwich was almost all cheese and it literally tasted like they took chili out of a can and poured it out into my cup. Man this place operates a tight ship, the line kept moving during the entire lunch hour and my turnaround was maybe 5 minutes. Very efficient. I got the Santa Fe Chicken ZOUP and Veggie Salad combo. The ZOUP was alright but the salad definitely wasn't fresh. It cost $10 which was probably $3 more than it was worth. I'm not ENTIRELY a cheap bastard - those $3 adds up when you're out eating lunch often. I'd give them two stars but the key with ZOUP! and makes it a good lunch spot is that... 1. The service is fast, efficient, and friendly. They gave me a replacement dressing for free and without hassle 2. Free samples to try out the different ZOUPs in line 3. The spoons. I really like the spoon design! It's wide and deep, like the ocean, holding a small lake of ZOUP in its soft curves. Somehow I still managed to spill some on myself. 4. But that's okay because they have bathrooms! You don't need a code to get in either. Overall a fine "bread and ZOUP" lunch in da loop staple. read more

I got the seafood etoufe and chicken barley. It came with bread. I think a little pricey for a bowl of soup, $9. I had 1 shrimp in the whole bowl but it was tasty and you could taste the seafood, just very little of it. Staff was friendly and I was able to dash in and dash out. It does appear that they have a good selection. I will have to try them again when I have more time and can dine in. My girl got the barley chicken and didnt give me any feedback (we didnt eat together) but it looked good. Soup came with a sourdough roll and butter. read more

For years I've heard about Zoup! but never got a chance to check it out. Now that I'm working in the Loop and felt under the weather last week I gave it a try. I liked it so much I went back twice in the same week! Being my first time at Zoup! I was unsure what to expect, however, even though I went during lunch time the line never stopped moving. It was soup bar! So many soups, where do I start? The workers were always friendly and they didn't hesitate to let you sample the soups of the day. I had checked out their website to see what they were serving and the Italian Wedding soup caught my eye. Not feeling too great I wanted something light and flavorful. Zoup! did not disappoint. I love the fact the meatballs were made of turkey as well, so it's a great healthy option. The soup hit the spot, leaving my craving for more. Later in the week I tried their chicken and dumpling soup and this was a nice mix-up to the classic chicken noodle. It's a clear broth base soup, flavorful and delicious. Sometimes I get wary of ordering soups because they're usually too salty, but both soups were just perfect especially with the warm bread dipped in it. They also serve sandwiches and salads, but I was only craving soups. I'll definitely come back to try more soups and since Fall is here it'll be a good lunch spot for those cooler days. read more

Huge chunks of Lobster. Haven't tried any salads or sandwiches yet, but the bread is pretty good. They give you a big chunk with the soup. They do have restrooms for customers, which can be hard to find at downtown fast food places. read more

When the weather gets cold I start craving soup. I was checking for places close to the office and came across this place. I was able to place my order online and just go pick it up. It's a perfect way to beat the lunch time rush. They have a pretty good selection of soups. After changing my mind a few times decided on white chicken chili in a bread bowl. When I got to their there was a super long line. But having ordered online I just went to the pick up counter and they had my order packed up and ready to go. And very pleasant lady handed me my stuff upon giving her my name. Bread was wrapped in paper separately and the soup in small paper container and then included the silverware with it. Perfect. The bread was still warm and the soup was filling and pretty good. Just what I needed. Definitely will be back soon. read more

Who wouldn't like a place with so many flavors of soup! The options change, well at least most of them do. You can always get tomato soup, chicken noodle soup, etc., but for the "specialty" soups you'd had to check the menu everyday. They update it online.
