I want to start by saying I went to 3 different doctors in 3 days (INCLUDING THE ER) complaining of immense pain discomfort with what I assumed was both a kidney stone or infection as well as strep throat at the same time. The first two doctors did nothing to help me, just told me to drink fluids and take ibuprofen.. didn't even look at/swab my throat or acknowledge my 101° fever. Roger Calvert, PA-C was incredibly warm and kind and was the only one to truly listen to and acknowledge my symptoms and prescribe antibiotics for my throat and medications to help me pass the kidney stone. I felt very seen and heard after what had been a terribly exhausting and frustrating week of being in so much pain and not feeling heard, and I am already starting to feel better. I visited ZoomCare in December. I had a persistent cough for 6 weeks, lung congestion, and have alway been prone to respiratory infections. The practitioner who I saw had an extremely off putting manner. Despite hearing my symptoms, and examining me, once she heard I was a smoker, she focused exclusively on smoking cessation and over the counter medications that I could get at any pharmacy, rather actually treating my illness. Aside from my habit of 6 cigarettes a day, I'm extremely healthy: no illnesses, no prescriptions, very regular exercise and healthy diet. After listening to the practitioner lecture me on the dangers of smoking, without addressing the illness I was suffering, I simply chose to leave. I visited a different urgent care. They gave me a chest x-ray, and I had pneumonia in both lungs. I would caution anyone who chooses to seek medical care at this location. read more

I went in with a scratchy throat and my provider Monique was curt, standoffish and not caring at all. I told her about my long history with strep and she said she would do penicillin (which is the least effective strep antibiotic) if I were to have it. I know a lot about strep after dealing with it for years and she made me feel like I was an annoying unknowing patient. I asked her to do a culture test for broad spectrum and she kept saying if they found something they wouldn't treat without any further explanation. Felt like I was fighting for my needs instead of being cared for in a patient doctor way. Honestly very upsetting rude care. Would not recommend. read more

Bad experience. The receptionist was ruder to me than I've ever experienced in my life - made me feel completely unwelcome. The worse problem, though, was that I made clear in advance I needed a refill of a controlled substance prescription, they acknowledged this need before seeing me, then told me during my visit that they couldn't write that refill, and proceeded to charge me $140 for the visit anyway. I received great care at both Capitol Hill locations. If you have a high deductible plan, going to Zoom+Care makes a lot of sense. I actually pay more out of pocket seeing my regular primary care provider due to all their extra fees. Affordable, convenient locations, and they were even open on Memorial Day. The only feedback I have is around confidentiality. They have a screen in the lobby that displays patient first names and times of upcoming appointments. This feature seems unnecessary and could lead to a privacy breach. If you have a unique first name, you could be identified as a Zoom+Care patient by people in the lobby or walking by. Probably not technically a HIPAA issue, but seems like the only purpose is to look cool and promote their brand/app. Also, after your visit you get a text to leave a Google review. The link auto-filled my full name. I would much rather receive a confidential patient survey to provide actual feedback, over revealing my patient status to help them advertise on a public platform. read more

I found there to be little to no "zoom" in "zoom care" and found my experience to be quite frustrating this afternoon. All I wanted to do was get a quick TDAP shot in lieu of my two day old nephew (Hank the Tank) being born. This turned out to be a frustrating and time consuming process! I called at about 345pm and was told I could get into be seen at 430 pm. BUT I would have to supply all my insurance info AND credit card info before the appt was booked.... Then the guy one phone told me I could just walk in because there was availability. When I got there, there was all of a sudden an additional 75 minutes I had to wait. Good news is when I finally got the shot it was quick and painless although I was seen by a PAC and not even a nurse. That's ultimately fine too, It was just frustrated to have to wait, have my expectations mismanaged and lack of clarity into how Much the TDAP would cost out of pocket. ZoomCare provides outstanding, quality medical care with same day appointments. The medical providers (often only PA's sadly) take the time to listen, care and help with the issue you came in for. What bothers me about ZoomCare though is they have so many referrals. It is not uncommon if you need blood work done to have to be sent offsite as they have no one to draw blood (although they do at times) and services like EKG's are not offered. When you are stressed for time, not feeling good or just do not want to deal with the stresses of the medical industry- the last thing you want is a referral for a very basic procedure to be done that almost every other PCP office does. Yay! - Cute, small front office, very clean, and sells (at normal/reasonable prices) a small selection of basic health needs (OTC stuff). I don't want to generalize their service as other staff may have handled my case more pleasantly, but my first time experience with them was not so good. I just had my visit with them and I basically paid $250+ (or probably $400+ as their real rate) just to get a $20 medication, oh and the pleasure of talking to a rude billing lady. The provider was ok, a bit too dismissive, but she knows what she's doing so I guess that somewhat works. Their billing person will fight you over the phone (outstanding customer service). I've worked with a lot of hospital billing clerks and no one had ever asked me "DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A $250 DEDUCTABLE WHEN YOU SIGNED YOUR INSURANCE?" in such a rude and leading tone. That lady even dare asked "you didn't know about your benefits when you signed your insurance?" The soonest appointment was nearly a four hour wait but once I arrived I was refused treatment and given a no sense explanation that they couldn't offer service to me because I had both private insurance (a very reputable policy BTW) and also qualified for Medicare. Call direct to this office today, oddly reroutes my call automatically to Beaverton, OR without warning, where the rep tried to get all of my insurance information, then ONLY as she was asking for my debit card number did she mention all the "possible fees". Woohoo! As good as it gets! Also, I love Katie Shaw! (Not in a romantic intimate way, I have a girlfriend for Pete's Sake!) I am overly impressed about how clean and professional this place is. I was tolerating what I though was a cold during the week until Sunday morning when I woke up feeling worst. My doctor's office was closed and I remembered this place had recently opened. I dropped in expecting the worst but was overwhelmed by how clean the lobby was. There was even free tea! The receptionist was nice and professional. I was expecting to fill out a bunch of forms and was I surprised it wasn't forms to fill out but screens on an iPad! Much more modern. After completing the "paper work" a bright light with soft white smoke, and birds chirping came from around the wall and I heard my name, "Francisco?" It was Katie. Well, I'm exaggerating but she did come out almost as soon as I finished with the administrative work. She walked me to the patient room and began with the question and answer session. She was professional, nice, and informative. I know this should be standard service from any medical professional but Katie wasn't any other medical professional I have visited in the past. She was good. As far as the cost, it was higher than what my usual copay is but it was worth it. I would definitely come back when my doctor's office is closed. I must be loyal to my doctor, eventhough her office is not nearly as clean or modern as Zoom, she is also as good as it gets. read more

You have to pay for everything up front and was told I'll be automatically reimbursed for amounts my insurance does cover within 1-2 weeks. Fast forward 2 months and I realize I was never reimbursed so I called their help line. They had a hard time finding me in their system and when they did find me, they told me the same line as another review below - that they "just" received payment from my insurance and that refund will be processed in another month. I'm always split on Zoom Care. Yes, there is the convenience that they guarantee your appointment and typically not waiting a long time (like other offices/urgent care). Awesome. The doctor's are always great, staff is friendly, place is clean. I just found out yesterday that they stopped taking Cigna insurance which is what I have...sad. Luckily my PPO saved the day and I got away with paying my $35 co-pay since they DID INDEED take that version of Cigna. What I don't care for is although Zoom Care is certainly upfront with their costs...it's still ridiculous what you have to pay for out of pocket even when you are insured. But people will pay it likely of course because you're sick and want to get better immediately, yes? Had I been able to find a hospice/urgent care within a few miles of my area I would have certainly avoided Zoom Care as I only would have had to pay my co-pay and rest would be billed to insurance (as it should)... likely only having to pay under $20 later on (which is what I have experienced with this same issue previously) and a few bucks for a Rx. All in all paying around $60-$70. Zoom care on the other hand I shelled out about $160 total. Up front. This is not including what I could potentially be billed by my insurance. Why they don't bill your insurance for some of these treatments....I don't know. I understand charging something for paperwork, handing you a Rx, sure. And yes, like I mention for the most part they are up front with costs. I turned down a couple tests because they would have cost me over $200 additional! WTH! Also, at the end I never received a print out letting me know what each cost was or what I was payed for exactly. No email. No receipt. I didn't even sign for anything. Nothing. For self payment, they list $105 for an injury visit, a checkup (including women's annual exam or pap smear), or a basic visit for illness. If you have something that requires clinic or pharmacy services, they offer them on site at this location. Almost every member of my immediate family has used ZoomCare for an urgent need that didn't necessitate an ER visit like a lingering cough, sudden fever spike, sprained ankle. I have been here twice for urgent, but not life-threatening illnesses that needed a doctor's care. Fortunately for me, in neither case was I the patient. There are a lot of good things about ZoomCare. Validated parking for one. Online appointments for another. The office is sparsely high-tech, and the doctor will email your test results through a secure log-in system after your visit. The 'waiting room' such as it is, is tiny, so while they accept walk-ins, I would schedule an appointment when possible. We saw two different doctors and both were thorough and professional and came up with correct diagnoses that identified the problem and then explained how to correct it. They accept insurance and self-pay, and we've never had any issues with the billing. The place is sterile and clean, just like you would want your doctor's office to be. However, there can be a few hiccups along the way - such as the time when we reserved an appointment online about 40 minutes later, only to arrive and find they were running 30+ minutes behind. Their validated parking is only good for an hour, so we ended up paying to sit and wait. Also, I recommend asking them to print your prescriptions and you take them to the pharmacy by yourself. The first time, they kindly offered to fax it right over to the pharmacy so, after waiting a good long interval to be sure the pharmacists had time to fill the order (and approaching closing time for the pharmacy), I went to check on the status only to find that the paperwork had never arrived. Despite these minor flaws, I would not hesitate to stop by ZoomCare if I or a loved one needed some urgent, non-emergency care. read more

For a simple earache, this was a convenient option for me given its proximity to home as well as the ability to register as a new patient and schedule an appointment online. Reception was very welcoming and I feel like the primary reason for my visit was well addressed. Billing, on the other hand, was pretty nightmarish. I have what I consider to be a very good health insurance plan with a major carrier, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and owed only a $15 co-pay for my visit. However, reception called me at home later that evening after my visit and said that they were having issues verifying my coverage with the insurance company--odd, but whatever. As such, they said that I needed to pay another $114 for the balance of the visit, but that it would be refunded back to my credit card once my insurance company verified coverage. So I provided my credit card over the phone. After about a week of waiting, I inquired about my refund through their secure website and received a prompt response stating that they could give me a refund as soon as I could produce a copy of the explanation of benefits from Blue Cross showing that the claim for the visit was approved. A few days later, I was able to do just that. I e-mailed the document to the woman at the central billing office who gave me the original information about the proof required and kindly asked her to process my refund, only to never receive a response. I thought I'd try through the secure website again instead, still no response. Left a voicemail, still no response. Eventually, three more weeks had passed before filing a dispute with my credit card company became my only remaining option to recover the $114 excess paid. In short, my initial experience was great, but due to the billing hassles, I'll probably stay away going forward. read more

This is not how healthcare should be. It's presented as an urgent care mostly, but can be a primary care as well. They only take appointments and you have to put in your credit card information to secure your spot. It is said to be for your convenience in case you left your wallet at home when you come in for your visit, but who forgets their wallet when going into the doctors office? What it's really meant for is the $100 cancellation fee if you don't show up OR if you need to reschedule and there are no appointments for the rest of the day, guess what? $100. Oh but that's not only why this company stores your card information before you actually go in, it's also because they make you pay everything up front and from what I'm reading on here and on their website they OVER-BILL you because they just ESTIMATE what you might owe after they bill your insurance and just "refund" you later. What's even better?? If you go in and they give you an estimate before you see the physician and you realize that it's too expensive, you can't just say no thanks I'll go somewhere else, they hit you with the $100 cancellation fee. This company thrives on over-collecting payments / cancellation fees in hopes that people don't see their explanation of benefits stating they actually DON'T owe that much and in turn don't ask for a refund... I work in healthcare, I work at an urgent care and I promise you that you deserve better with your healthcare. There are other transparent and honest places to go to around Seattle. A healthcare facility with integrity doesn't over-bill patients in their most vulnerable times and says "well hopefully you get a refund when your actual bill comes through". I got charged $300 for a 5 minute visit and did not get a definitive diagnosis because they didn't have the equipment to diagnose me properly. If I would of been told there was no X-ray (although it says imaging available on the window and in their lobby) I would of taken the $100 cancellation fee (unfortunately would of been the only option) and left. I hobbled in with a horrible ankle injury and the front desk lady gave me crutches and talked about X-rays, but never once stated they'd have to send me somewhere else for X-rays... I've never been to CityMD but people - it's a block away. Go there or call them before you go to this place. From what I've read about their company they will work with you. How healthcare should be. This place definitely takes the care out of healthcare and zoomcare. I keep seeing them respond to comments about their shady billing practices with, "we do this so you don't get a surprise bill in the end" or "we do this because if we have no idea if your insurance is active or not". Again, being in healthcare and working in urgent care, THIS IS NOT TRUE. First of all, everyone expects a bill after a doctors visit. What a terrible cover up. Second, the patient more than likely can pull up their insurance on their phone and show you the dates of when the insurance when active. There are multiple resources online to check if an insurance is active or a phone call to the insurance company. Please don't let this place treat you like your stupid. Know your insurance, know your options. The doctor stated "yeah we have a room for X-rays but haven't gotten around to ordering equipment yet." ...haven't gotten around. Let that sink in. My injury was bad enough that I needed to get evaluated that night (9pm) but not bad enough for an ER visit, although for some people, including myself, it seems like the ER might be cheaper and will be able to give you a correct diagnosis. read more

It's super easy and quick to schedule an appointment online (they were able to see me within an hour of making an appointment), they're open pretty late, no wait when you come in, the doctor is very professional and knowledgable, and you can even get certain meds there so you don't have to spend time going to the pharmacy and waiting for your prescription to be filled. I saw Ms. Henderson for a bad ear infection / perforated eardrum while i was on vacation. She was very kind, understanding, and was even able to give me the medicine I needed to get better, at the time of the visit. My ear infection / perforated eardrum was diagnosed, the proper medication was given, the doctor was professional, kind and gentle with my ear as I was in severe pain. I have a low insurance plan and it came to $129 for the visit, however, I was able to get in immediately while on vacation so my mind was put an ease by a great physician so it was worth every penny. After reading the 1 or 2 star reviews, it sounds like the negative encounters people experienced were because they should have gone to an ER rather than urgent care clinic. On Wednesday morning, I came down with the worst illness I have ever had in my life. I normally prefer to see a DO because of chronic back issues and the fact that I have unlimited adjustments at a DO as they are my PCP. My insurance company, however, does not cover any DO in Seattle, so my PCP is in Burien. I was far too ill to make it down to Burien, and it was after 6 PM, so I went on my insurance website and searched for the nearest urgent care and ZoomCare came up. After driving down to ZoomCare, I went inside and explained to the very helpful associate what my symptoms were. She went on to explain to me that they were not actually an urgent care clinic, but a same day care clinic and that they actually were supposed to be closed and had the last patient being seen. I apologized and began to leave, but she she stopped me and said "No, no, you are too sick, we will see you, that's why we're here, have a seat, I'll get you some water, and we'll get you all set up". After the most innovative streamlined first visit to a clinic I have seen, Erin Grindle PA-C, came out to get me and then took me back to the exam room. She had an excellent bedside manner, was extremely caring, and definitely made me as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately I was a little too sick to actually get the full treatment that I needed there, but she did give me two prescriptions and very specific at home instructions that included that if my fever were to go any higher to immediately go the ER for IV fluids. Erin both called and emailed the next day to check up on me and see if I was able to make it through the night at home, or if I had needed to go to the ER. After finding out that I had been to the ER, she also checked on me again the next day to make sure the treatment they had given me was working. Never in my life have I had a medical experience like this, nor did I even imagine it possible. I think we are all so pre programmed about how our medical system works, that I didn't even realize I wanted a clinic like this. All of my blood work results were emailed to me the same time they were emailed to Erin, with a personal followup from her explaining what the results meant. I can access all my records online. I can schedule same day appointments. All for the same cost of a regular doctor visit. At this point, other than when I need an adjustment for my back, I now have a new PCP.
