I've never had an issue until today-- my dad has a slight communication barrier and when he was rescheduling his appointment over the phone, the receptionist was not being accommodating. I had to step in to speak on his behalf and sort the situation out. While I was trying to understand what he wanted to do, the receptionist forgot to put herself on mute and I heard her talking to someone about how she wanted to hang up, about how my dad was Vietnamese, and how this whole situation was frustrating to her. I heard her sighing out "oh my gosh," like it was so difficult for her to put herself in the shoes of someone who doesn't speak English as their first language. I was baffled. I couldn't believe that I was hearing this disrespect from someone who works for a clinic that has a Vietnamese doctor. You would think they would be more considerate. I was so angry that I forgot to ask for her name because I firmly believe she should be reprimanded for that blunt discrimination against my dad. In any case, I hope their receptionists improve on their communication skills for future patients that don't speak English as their first language, or at least gain some patience as it is frustrating for BOTH sides.

After a few attempts, I gave up, and I tried calling the billing department to make a payment instead, but all I got was a voice mail prompt. To coin the phrase, add insult to injury to what is now becoming frustration... Side note: They have no financial assistance when paying out of pocket like other health care systems in the area. They called my family to let them know, packed my belongings immediately, which I could not access including my phone, and while on their house phone frantically trying to get a ride, I was told I had met my 5 minute phone time elimit. I was extremely vulnerable due to my years of addiction and alcoholism, and in shock that they would do this to a patient under their care! Needless to say, I went out w many choice words. She apologized and let me know she was the only one working that day. She also let the walk ins know that they might have a wait since she was the only one in office, and let them know a few other locations close by. I asked if I could lay down since I'm very afraid of needles and she was happy to oblige. After seeing that I was really nervous and that my veins weren't showing a ton, she let me know she would use a small butterfly needle and that I would barely feel it. Usually I get super nauseous but I barely noticed the needle. In the past, other nurses have had to move the needle around a lot or poke twice which makes me really sick, but she was in immediately. It was also SO FAST! I've had my blood drawn probably 100 times in my life and this was the quickest and easiest. If every blood draw were like this I probably wouldn't have any needle phobia. Such an amazing woman and impeccable care. Next time I need to go in for blood work I will call ahead and make sure she is working. Truly exceptional!

A friendly greeting, patience, and basic customer service should be expected, especially in a healthcare setting where many patients may not be comfortable with technology. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, based on this experience, it will likely be my last. I hope management reviews the level of customer service being provided and ensures that patients receive the assistance and respect they deserve.
