Highest recommendation. No caveats. I've been a patient of Greenlake Primary Care for 30+ years. Dr Krista Hodne is my current doctor. (Previously, Dr Busch and Dr Starkebaum.) I'm a cancer survivor, among other stuff. Nothing about my care is easy, straightforward. Some of my troubles have taken years to bring under control. Dr Hodne is the best partner, life coach, and caregiver anyone can ask for. She and her team have gone above and beyond for me, time and again. Two strategies are proven to improve patient outcomes. Constructive long-term relationships, obviously. Emphasizing wellness over treating disease. Knowing this, I enthusiastically supported Greenlake's switch to a concierge model. The concierge model is a rejection of our nation's immoral, inefficient, profiteering fee-for-service model. It's a return to our Rockwell-esque notions of the family doctor. It allows doctors to spend as much time as needed with a patient, to do research, to coordinate all the referrals, to do battle with insurers, etc. No one is getting rich in family practice. Or running an independent clinic. Do the math, read the news. The providers at Greenlake Primary Care are making huge sacrifices. Just to keep the lights on. Just to deliver actual healthcare. Yes, concierge requires memberships to make it work. Until our nation adopts Medicare For All, it's the best available option. I chose to be a member, despite living off credit cards (at the time), because I wanted to get better. I chose correctly. You can too. read more

They ignored my symptoms and misdiagnosed me... when a patient complains of pain, don't respond by saying oh, it itches? The way you treated me was so WRONG! It turns out I had swelling of the brain; I could have died if I hadn't gone somewhere else who actually listened to me. Furthermore, my job and living situation was effected by your negligence. read more

Even though I have lots of tattoos, I'm still not a fan of needles. I got an email from Dr. Tess who said they had a few available appointments for the Covid booster. I took her up on it! When I got to the office, I alerted the staff to the fact that I can sometimes have a bit of a phobia with getting shots. They were all so nice and helped me normalize the fact that even some of their doctors have needle phobias. Dr. Tess recommended EFT tapping to help calm my nerves, which worked like a charm. I was so pleased with my experience that I decided to take a selfie in the waiting room so that I could share my experience with others. I happily recommend Greenlake Primary Care. I like it here, and will probably keep Dr. Kamath for quite a few years. They accept most insurance plans, no issues there and they are responsive when you call. I have yet to make a last minute appt on a day my doctor is not here, but presumably it would be easy to be squeezed in. They work with other hospitals and service providers for things like lab work, and there seems to be a good solid network for referrals to good places. Why do I like my doctor? She is respectful, friendly, but professionally minded. I come in with my own google plan of action and she sets me on the correct path without downing me for doing my own research beforehand. She brings stats to the table and recommends things for long term treatment that are not on my radar (Such as acupuncture for sciatic pain - very life changing FYI). Sure, sometimes the office doesn't call you back with results and you don't get a mailed copy or fancy online viewing site like my chart, but all in all i don't care about that kind of stuff and when I do, i call and someone like the nurse or other qualified person sits down and rails out the details i want to know. read more

When I informed the lady it said on google that it said they accepted insurance and that they need to update that information not google she got annoyed with me. Avoid at all costs. Providers are terrible and they flood your mailbox. I work in medicine and have numerous health issues and all these people wanted to do was refer, refer, refer. Kristin Mellein specifically was very condescending for her ounce of expertise. All she could do was refer, refer, refer, and talk down to me but yet never offered any solutions herself. Even asking for a basic allergy medicine she wanted to refer me and wouldn't validate any of my concerns and refused to review my history aka do her job so I never went back. And now they flood my mailbox with useless bits of paper mail. Every other month I get more stuff just to remind me how terrible they are. read more

Whenever I come here I always feel that I'm in expert hands. The price is fair, important for I'm without insurance. They even give you medical service when you forget to remove your sidearm. I found it necessary to write this review because, as a customer, the little things matter to me. Don't expect the extra mile here. I returned from service in Afghanistan overseas and rather than deal with the VA, I wanted to support a local doctor in my beloved Seattle area. I searched under my TriCare provider to see who was covered under my network and settled on Greenlake Primary Care due to it's proximity to my home. I called, requested an appointment and had it made roughly a week after my call. Upon entering the lovely waiting area, I was greeted by an administrative assistant behind the desk who was less than enthusiastic about greeting me. After rolling her eyes, I received a "name?". I gave her my name and was given a packet of new patient paperwork to fill out. I asked a question regarding my Tricare insurance and was given a terse answer and another question asking "Are you sure you called them to tell them we're you're primary care provider?". After responding yes, I received another "Are you sure?". Yes. Yes I'm sure. I believe she was much more concerned about the billing process going smoothly than about welcoming a new patient. I had requested a physical examination by the Physician's Assistant Melissa Holmes. She made the best effort she could at making a new patient feel welcome, but I was made to feel awkward about a few things regarding my examination. After my examination in March, I received my bill in September. When I tried to call the number on the statement mailed to me to get more information as to the delay I did not receive an answer and the mailbox was full. I suppose the billing process didn't go as smoothly as hoped. Hopefully any who decide to patron this office have a better experience than I did and I'm glad to see so many others did. I picked this practice based on previous reviews, since I never really had a primary care physician and didn't know where to start. The staff is friendly and I never had problems getting appointments. Deirdre also took her time to really talk to me during my appointment, and I ended up with a new prescription that has really helped my condition more than the drug I had been on before. That said, there were little things that never really got done, like a referral I asked for that was never addressed (despite me asking a couple times), and lack of follow-up on blood tests. And speaking of blood tests, every time I needed to have blood drawn I was met by the same nurse who is definitely not proficient at doing blood draws. I'm a nurse myself, so both times (after giving her multiple chances) I literally had her tie the tourniquet for me and I stuck the needle & drew the blood on my own arm. I'm in the UW system for my specialists, so I think I'm just going to go back to their stable of interchangeable, cog-in-the-wheel primary care providers. This review is for Dr. Naomi Busch. I'd been searching for a good doctor since I moved here in 2006 and Dr. Busch has filled that void in my healthcare life. A coworker referred me to the office for another doctor, but that one retired and Dr. Busch took over. Well, it all worked out for me because Dr. Busch is genuine, has great bedside manner, does not pretend to know it all (one time she checked up on a few medications online right in front of me, which I love because we then chat about the info she finds). Bottom line is that she knows how to treat and interact with her patients; the last time I was there she didn't check my blood pressure until she noticed I was swinging my feet back and forth (I was relaxed so she checked). Cool and crafty! The office is small, which is nice because it doesn't feel like a patient factory. Getting an appointment is easy and billing is smooth. There is a good variety of magazines in the waiting room and they are actually remodeling the office so it'll be even better in the coming weeks. The best thing about Dr. Busch is that she listens and listens closely with open ears. She speaks in terms I understand and tells me what I need to know as well the extras that may not matter, but can't hurt to understand. She gave me advice on how to handle migraines caused by dehydration (I'm trying it out next week to see if I can get back to working out) and I just feel that my health care is in great hands. I do NOT recommend going here if you need care for anything other than a normal yearly checkup where you have zero concerns. Decided to switch from a naturopath to an M.D. due to new health issues that have suddenly cropped up and chose this place because it was close. I've had a few appointments here now, seeing two different people, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, and each time I come away feeling like I've mostly wasted my time and money. Communication is poor and inconsistent. Sometimes they call to give results and sometimes they send results in the mail... OR they just don't notify you at all. The seriousness of the test and/or results did not matter in my case. It all seemed very random whether I'd get a phone call or a letter - IF they actually notified me. One of the letters I received was unprofessional, in my opinion. One simple line stating "your cholesterol is normal." with no further information about what the numbers actually were, or a printout of the actual test results (which I had received before for other tests). I'm also still waiting on results from a test that was done 5 months ago. I have called several times requesting information about it and still nothing. I ended up calling the place I had the test done and getting the results myself (they can't talk to me about the results, but were able to provide the printout), AND had them resend to the office. Still nothing. If the few simple tests they've had you do come back "normal" the care seems to just stop, despite no positive changes in your health, and you're left wondering what the next step is. No follow up appointments after tests where we could actually discuss the results and go over them, compare them to previous test results, or discussions about what next steps should be taken or things I can do. When I did schedule a follow up appointment after a trip to the ER (at the urging of an advice nurse), they seemed highly annoyed that I had come back, yet again, and that the issues I'm having haven't just magically disappeared despite no real care other than referrals for other places. The bedside manner of Melissa Holmes is seriously lacking. Not only did she start shooting into the dark out loud about possible (scary) diagnoses prior to any tests or physicals, but if you don't immediately burst into tears while she's doing that she'll become very concerned about your lack of emotions. News Flash: not every person is comfortable with expressing their fear or bursting into tears in the company of a stranger who has only made you feel uncomfortable or awkward. Edited 10/14/15: Started gathering my records from other places I've been for tests while under their care and was SHOCKED when I saw that the results from scans I've had were not actually "completely normal" like I was told. I freaking love this place. I'm 29 years old and had a huge problem with needles when I was a kid. Had to have like 3-5 male nurses hold me down to get shots and take blood. BUT NOT WITH MERITT, THE SUPER NURSE! She gave me a shot and I could barely feel the needle. Took blood and didn't hurt a bit. I have always had a wonderful and caring experience with every practitioner I have worked with here. I loved Dr. Busch when she was caring for me and my family and now I love Dr. Palmer, as well. This is what Primary care should look like. There are several options for care. They offer traditional care, accepting most medical insurances, as well as, concierge care, if that suits you better. Greenlake Primary Care is THE BEST place for medical guidance and compassionate care. Their variety of providers offer a number specialties and services in one convenient location. I have been a patient here for years, and despite my condition sometimes requiring acute care and monitoring, I have always had an easy time scheduling my appointments around my busy schedule. The staff is very professional and take time to get to know me personally- even the receptionists to the medical assistants. They are always prompt and I never feel rushed during my appointments- Dr. Busch always makes sure to address all of my questions and concerns, as do the other providers I have seen there. I feel comfortable getting whatever comprehensive care I need here. There is convenient FREE parking. I hope I never have to go anywhere else! read more

I've always had a great experience with annual wellness checks here. Dr. Palmer has always taken great care of me. She is an amazing listener, makes no judgements, and always reassures me. I called yesterday, feeling super sick and in tears over fear of what could possibly be wrong, and they got me in same day. i went here to get help for severe stomach pain i had been having.... the regular doctor was unable to see me that day so I saw the assistant... after a quick observance and conversation of my symptoms, she suspected that i had appendicitis and needed to be rushed to the E.R.... Having no prior appendix problems myself or in my family, i was skeptical and asked if I could save myself the money/time and NOT go to the E.R. She hesitantly said I could get blood tests from Northwest hospital to check my appendix. So, i paid the 70 dollars to get my blood drawn and no appendicitis so she said i must have a really bad stomach ache... yeah right! After worsened pain that night, I decided to go to another doctor who almost instantly correctly diagnosed me with an ulcer.... She didn't even suspect an ulcer! I was very upset that i wasted my time and money on a completely wrong diagnosis! She almost sent me to the ER for something that was totally wrong, and followed it up with another wrong diagnosis :( disappointed... read more

We thought this place was alright in the beginning but when my child came down with pink eye the doctor we were seeing was quick to prescribe 2 antibiotics for it. I know that pink eye is many times viral and not bacterial. We did not go through with the treatment and decided not to return. read more

Maybe the doctors at this clinic are wonderful but I didn't personally have the chance to find out. Due to mistakes with scheduling and miscommunications by the office staff, I will not be returning. I believe choosing a primary care physician is an important decision, so I put a considerable amount of energy into choosing this place and making my new patient appointment. Upon arrival, I was informed that my appointment had been cancelled (even though it was confirmed via phone) because someone with a name "that sounded much like mine" had called and cancelled their appointment. They had time on the schedule to still see me so even though I offered to reschedule, the office staff asked me to stay. 15 minutes after my scheduled time, I once again offered to reschedule because several other patients had come into the waiting room and been taken back. After patiently waiting 35 minutes, completely ignored by the front desk staff, I got my new patient paperwork and walked out. This sort of thing can be expected at a walk in clinic or urgent care, but in my book, is NOT acceptable at any office making appointments. No one likes waiting, especially in an unfriendly doctors office, and the staff here was not sensitive to patient needs or respectful of time. read more

The BEST care you will ever receive!! My 3 boys and I have been patients here for over 15 years. The front desk, nurses and doctors are all fantastic. Our pediatrician Dr. Graunke unfortunately retired last year but not before making sure she helped us find a new pediatrician. Even when we lived in Georgia and Las Vegas, when we can home to visit we made sure to have our check ups here. I just kind of chose the place based on what was in my area and who took my insurance and it would seem I really lucked out. I see Leslie Vietmeier and she is great. Her bedside manner leaves me feeling really comfortable and as though I am in good hands. I've never had problems with getting an appointment or billing. I have been going to Greenlake Primary Care for 16 years, first under Dr. Starkebaum's ownership and am thrilled with the changes Dr. Busch has made. Everyone at the clinic is caring and accommodating. Yes, Dr. Busch has changed to a concierge-care model, but the fees are reasonable and there are other amazing physicians and ARNPs available to see you if you choose not to participate in that plan. For God's sake, don't go to Yelp for a referral in regards to healthcare! Most of the reviews do not deal with actual medical issues. The one & two star reviews that I've seen for my otolaryngologist and my orthopod have been due to the fact they aren't friendly or endowed with psychic abilities. The medical field has more than enough to worry about than having to add being friendly and courteous to the list of all the other s*** they have to deal with. The main thing is being an advocate for yourself, and understanding that the search for a general practitioner can be a long and arduous process. This is where we get to Greenlake Primary Care. I was a long time patient of Dr Mary Starkeybaum, it would not be an overstatement to say that she literally saved my life. When she informed me that she was retiring, I asked her if she had seen the movie What About Bob? I told her she should rent it, that's going to be her life after retirement. She assured me that she was turning over the reins to a very competent young woman. I trusted her judgment somewhat apprehensively. DR Naomi Busch has not only done a wonderful job of creating a smooth continuance of care, but she has also introduced me to different ways of looking at my condition and moving forward to improve my overall well-being. Now that's not just her doing her job, it's also me doing what's right for me and advocating for myself. I don't expect the people at the front counter to be friendly, I don't expect Naomi to be friendly, what I have found is that my ability to communicate, greatly helps the process along of getting to a place of better overall health. I am pushing 50, and I've never felt better. Dr Busch and her staff, have done a phenomenal job in dealing with this slow-moving, fur bearing mammal. I expect the guys at Les Schwab to run out to my car smiling, I don't expect people in the medical profession to do the same. You have to be an adult, and follow up and speak up for yourself. People in medical clinics deal with literally thousands of patients. They don't have time to coddle or make your office visit feel like Nordstrom's. They have way too f****** much to do. read more

I went to this clinic twice. The first time I had vertigo and was told there is nothing I can do but if it's still going on in 2 weeks then come back in and they would give me some exercises to do. After getting home I wondered why I just wasn't given the exercises. A NP friend gave them to me and was surprised they didn't give them to me. The second time I went in for some serious stomach issues. A lot of tests were run, which was good, but then I heard nothing back. I called to follow up, 5 days later I called again because I didn't get a call back. The receptionist told me that in the notes the nurse said she talked to me (which she didn't). Then later in the conversation she confirmed my phone number then told me they had it correct then corrected herself and said they had it wrong. I then received a letter saying my labs were normal but I should reduce the amount of Vit D I'm taking - which had NOTHING to do with my stomach issues. I asked for Dr. Busch to call me and let me know what my next steps were after getting the letter. The receptionist put me on hold and then said she said you should go see a GI doctor. Ok, who? Then she put me on hold again and gave me the name of a clinic (not a doctor). I just felt like my issues weren't important. I was having severe pain and symptoms. I would have thought I would have been given a follow up call. I transferred providers after this. Trying to get my records was equally as hard. It took weeks for them to send to my new Dr. I also wanted a copy for my records and after not receiving them for 3 weeks I called them and the receptionist said "Oh, yeah, we don't have your file. It's been moved to storage." That's fine but they should have called to let me know. Amazingly they sent out my records that day after I called. Overall, I feel like the office is poorly run and they are not invested in helping you with your issues. It's too bad because this office is really close to my house. read more

This review is specifically for Dr. Kathleen Graunke who is the pediatrician at Green Lake Primary Care. I researched lots of pediatricians in North Seattle before I found Dr. Graunke. She is excellent, warm, caring, and very very knowledgeable. She takes the time to get to know the whole family, listens carefully to your concerns, and takes a holistic approach to your child's health. When we were struggling with breastfeeding, she personally called an LC and supported me DAILY so that I wouldn't have to give up and use formula. She has a wonderful, old-fashioned, personal approach that is so refreshing in these days of e-medicine. We wholeheartedly recommend her. read more

Courteous front office staff, clean waiting area, plenty of parking nearby. I met with Deirdre who was very helpful and respected my time as I had scheduled my appointment during my lunch break. I've been seen by Deirdre twice now and she is compassionate, genuinely caring, explains things without seeming condescending, and is just overall great. I was seen in the end of july for a routine check up. while I was skeptical at first (my previous dr - dr starkebaum has been my physician for over 10 years and I loved her) I was very pleasantly surprised. The office staff have not changed, and they continue to be patient, kind and helpful. the medical assistants got my blood on the first try (woohoo a plus for sure!). Dr. Busch, while appearing very young, is warm, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable. i will definitely continue my care here and hope she does not retire any time soon!! read more

Dr. Busch has been my Doctor since Dr. Starkebaum retired a few years ago. I was apprehensive about staying on as Dr. Starkebaum had been my physician for years and I didn't think ANYONE could be as good as her. Happily, Dr. Busch exceeded my expectations and is an excellent physician who is intelligent, a good listener, and communication skills are excellent. She gives suggestions and feedback that are well thought out and is great at coordinating care and referrals as needed. Some of my referrals have been complicated due to location and she has always been on top of it. When test results are abnormal Dr. Busch has called to let me know, discussing a course of action on the phone. For office appointments she is most often on time and if I've needed to wait, it's because another patient took longer than expected. (I appreciate that as I know it could be me at some point that needs extra time) My appointments with Dr. Busch have never felt rushed and the staff will try and work you in for a same day visit if you have an urgent need. (Other physicians are sometimes available if Dr. Busch is booked for the day.) The office is small and so patients of Dr. Busch have a more personal relationship with office staff. Staff are friendly and billing problems I've had due to insurance have been resolved with minimal hassle, usually resolved after one phone call! Greenlake Primary Care has a super location (across from Greenlake) and parking provided. I would most definitely recommend Dr. Naomi Busch. read more

This Doctor actually returns phone calls when you leave a message. I had to use the emergency number on a Sunday afternoon. She called back within a few minutes and called a prescription into my local pharmacy. I have used her for over ten years and have referred several people to her. We now live over 30 miles from her office but me and my Spouse still go to her because of the wonderful care you receive. Her appointment visits are 30 minutes instead of the 15 or 20 minute visits most Doctors seem to be using now. She also has a Nurse Practitioner on staff who can prescribe medicine and handle refills when she is on vacation. There is also a pediatrician at her clinic. read more
