I find myself raving about Dr. Cahn and his staff on a daily basis. Last week I had an appointment for annual fasting blood work only, feeling pretty crappy. Dr. Cahn saw me sitting in the waiting room and insisted I sit with him. In fact, I found myself spewing all that was going - for over 45 mins. I left that day with some referrals, potential answers, a link to an article and a feeling that I may just figure out what is going on. Dr Cahn's priority is his patients. He's got the kind of heart that you can only hope for in a family doc. And his PA and NP - the same. Both are incredible. His staff, family, even Lucy (the amazingly gentle and therapeutic office golden doodle) make an appt with him a welcomed visit to get better. I couldn't say enough about the best doctor I've ever had. read more

I switched to Dr. Cahn after my family physician of 25 years couldn't keep his moral judgments off of my personal decisions. Dr. Cahn has been exactly what the other reviewers say: non-judgmental, kind, welcoming... And I add to that: He is easy to talk with; he listens and is interested to hear about and consider what I, as a patient, feel would work for me and my body. His PA is just as wonderful about listening and talking about options as well. This office provides completely respectful and professional care. Dr. Cahn's office staff is also friendly, helpful and genuine. I am overjoyed that such a wonderful family doctor works six blocks away from me. I went in for a very concerning problem involving blood coming out of places it shouldn't (I'll leave the details to your imagination). Upon going in I have my vitals taken, go through all the new patient rigamarole and am told my only option is to have an endoscope. I'm not a doctor, so I'm not going to argue (despite the fact I wasn't asked to fast as is normally the case for this procedure because without fasting it's really hard to see what you need). That happens, I have a sample to take and then return, great. I return my sample and am told I'd hear back in a week. Week goes by, nothing. Week and a half. I figured since it was a holiday week the lab was probably backed up. After 2 weeks I call and am told my sample was lost by the office, and not only that but I was supposed to have done a blood draw which nobody informed me of. Meanwhile, blood continues to pour out of me. Great, so now I get to take more time off work and pay for another series of Lyft rides to get to their office to do a blood draw. That happens on a Friday and I'm told I'd hear back on Tuesday. Tuesday rolls by, nothing. I call on Wednesday and they say all their CMAs are busy but they'll call me later. 5 minutes to their office closing, no results. I call again, and a woman at the front desk goes over them with me briefly/wouldn't be able to answer detailed questions. She says, "anything else?" YES, DAMNIT! The problem I have is still happening! Do you arrange a referral or am I supposed to guess as to what kind of doctor I need to see next? "Hmmm, I don't know. Let me check." I am then informed that they'll make a referral for me and that "they'll call me". Well, I'm still waiting to hear back and not holding my breath. When you have blood pouring out of you, you get concerned. It would be nice if I had gone to an office where the staff are equally concerned about my health and getting it back on track. As it was they a) lost my sample, b) didn't tell me about procedures I could have knocked out on my first visit, c) didn't have a referral plan, d) didn't make it clear how you could get a copy of your results and e) couldn't let me talk to a certified medical professional about what my results mean. I'm incredibly disappointed and will never be using their services again. I will say both RNs/CMAs I saw had excellent bedside manner. ALSO, WORD TO THE WISE: They have a section on their website that says if you want the results of your blood tests you have to tell them at the time of your blood draw. I was not informed of this and so now I get to play the game of trying to get my actual test results to give to a REAL medical office so they can help me. Edited to add: Still haven't heard from this mysterious Dr. Lang who I was assured would call me to set up next steps. I'm pretty sure they never logged the referral. read more

I'm no longer a patient of Dr. Cahn's office, and I really miss them all. I switched insurance about a year ago and had to go with Group Health, and am now seeing doctors at Virginia Mason. Virginia Mason is great, but I really miss the care I got at Dr. Cahn's office. I usually saw the Physician's Assistant, and I was impressed with how great they were. They always took their time, listened, had a solution, and followed up with me later. That doesn't happen at a big place like Group Health or Virginia Mason. At the big places you get a letter in the mail, and you're on your own. When it comes to your health, I think having your physician follow up with you is a huge thing. It's the difference between getting the help you need, and falling through the cracks! Looking back I'm also impressed with how much they were able to do in their office. In all of the years I went there, I never had to be referred out for anything. I once broke a bone on a weekend, and went to the ER, which I would have done anyway. They can cover a lot of your health care needs out of that one office. read more

I love Martin Cahn. I have been seeing him for over 10 years and I wouldn't want to see anyone else. He is non-judgemental, kind, warm and has never talked down to me or made me feel like he was in a rush. read more

My husband went to see Dr. Cahn but was not charged or taken on as a patient because he was too complicated. We had a sad, mixed experienced, of a doctor probably reaching the end of his career and his rope. The doctor was funny, down to earth politically and admitted his limitations. Dr. Cahn specifically did not want to work with somebody like my husband, who had multiple conditions managed by three different hospital groups. My husband's got three serious conditions and the best people in town are divided between Swedish, Virginia Mason and UW - what are you gonna do? We left kind of frustrated but wondering if that meant we could be his friend. He's totally solid and it is a rare doctor who doesn't have a god complex and knows what he doesn't know, right? Cahn is still pretty ok, in my book. read more

I really like Dr. Cahn but ever since he was bought out by UW Medicine, all calls are handled at a call center. You can no longer reach staff that actually work there. I have a medical emergency that should be treated today, but the operator says they are "unable" to see me until tomorrow. I will be going to the ER instead. This feels really third world and backwards to me. The old office would have accommodated me if I were able to actually get a message to Dr. Cahn. read more

Definitely felt rushed and not listened to by Dr. Cahn. Several concerns I have related to a chronic illness were simply blown off, and Dr. Cahn said, "See you in a year!" when I left which I thought was weird since I need to have my blood monitored every three months. I've also had billing problems with reception. I was sent a bill for my co-pay ($25). I called to pay it and for some reason they only put it in as $20. I got a late bill with a $3 late fee (which seems ridiculous on a $5 bill) and when I called to try to straighten it out my only option was to pay the $5 plus the late fee and then call back later for a credit, because the receptionist couldn't process it at that point. Guess who never saw a refund for the late fee? They seem fine if you don't really have any health concerns, but for anything more complicated than the common cold, I would recommend going some place else. read more

First off, long story short. Most doctors will not see you in a clinic same day unless you're an established patient. I hurt my knee, randomly called Dr. Cahn's office to find out if there were any urgent care clinics in our neighborhood, and ended up being invited in right then to have my knee looked at and treated. When I got there, I was blown away by the kind, welcoming, caring staff he has working with him. As great as they are (and they are) Dr. Cahn is in a category all his own. His style is the kind that doesn't really exist anymore. He took careful time to explain what was going on with my injury, sat with me to make sure I understood the treatment plan, and has a great sense of humor when appropriate. I have only needed to be seen once more since my initial appointment,(which was just as comforting as the first) but called to have my husband's care established there. This was the first time I have ever been asked by a doctor's office, "Well, how are you doing?" and knew that it was a genuine question. I tell EVERYONE I know to make Dr. Cahn their physician, and they will rest assured they're in the best hands. Starting a family soon, and I wouldn't trust my family's care to anyone else now that I've met Dr. Cahn and his staff. read more

Dr. Cahn is likable. Be prepared to be referred out for anything more than a common cold. A member of his staff shamed me for a condition, stating how she does not believe in medication for the issue I was having. I came home still having the issue and feeling worse about myself. There are enough doctors in town - I would avoid this one. read more

Best doctor ever!! I have been seeing Dr. Cahn for several years. He has gently guided me towards better health by encouraging me to improve my diet and excerce regularly. I was having issues with being overweight, high cholesterol, elevated triglycerides and high blood pressure. Most recently, my weight has come down by around 15%, my blood pressure is text book normal, cholesterol is well within normal and triglycerides are low, all this without medication. He is knowledgeable and proactive in recommending courses of action, based upon my needs. If he doesn't know the answer, he is a wealth of knowledge in recommending the correct specialist. He has also been proactive in recommending vaccinations and exams. I don't understand the reviews that speak poorly of the office staff. Not only have they been pleasant and professional towards me, they have been enthusiastically supportive of my progress. While I am waiting, I have witnessed similar positive attitudes to other patients. Dr. Cahn and his staff rock!!! read more

Dr. Cahn and his team have been there through thick and thin - when I've had insurance and when I haven't; when I needed a medication check or an annual physical. He is totally nonjudgmental and very thoughtful. He was one of the first docs to get electronic medical records...he could look up the test results when I was in ICU 5 years ago and discuss the diagnosis with me...totally awesome! He is a rare breed - a real family practitioner in private practice, not conglomerate medicine...dedicated to the patient, not the corporate bottom line. I really hope he can persuade new docs to follow in his footsteps! read more

There is no better example of a true family practitioner than Dr. Martin Cahn and the staff at his office. I have been seeing him for my health needs for nearly 15 years and am so thankful that a recommendation of a friend led me to him. He treats everybody so kindly and as a man of many talents, he also was the attending physician and O.B. For my son's birth, bringing the next generation of my family into the world. I went to Dr, Cahn for several years and then left. At first he, and his staff, were warm, engaging and competent. But something changed with the buy out and Dr. Cahn became unavailable and I was told I would see the ARNP, who did not know me and was judgmental and unhelpful. I use to work side by side with Marty as his MA way back in the early 90s. He goes beyond the call of duty. Always has an open ear and heart. I even did house calls for ones who couldn't get out. Anyone would be lucky to have him as their doctor! read more

Due to some issues with zocdoc's review system, I came here because I wanted to be sure to give a proper review for this clinic. I saw Amy for what seemed to be a simple migraine and virus, and she followed a hunch. Since the initial visit, both her and the rest of the staff have been persistent, kind, and expedient in ordering tests, communicating with me, and in referring me to a necessary specialist. The office is filled with warmth and kindness, and everyone wanted to be sure I left with all the information I could need, and all the kindness I could handle. Such a rare thing to find from a doctor's office now! My initial visit did see me waiting for a bit long, but my subsequent visit was much faster. While I waited, the nurse continually checked in to let me know that I hadn't been forgotten! Other patients were being seen to, and I certainly had no problem waiting a bit as they had squeezed me in as a brand new patient in a same day appointment. I'm sure I could find more good things to say, but I suppose I'll leave it there for now. read more

He encourages better health practices without being judgmental or scolding. Friendly office and willing to prescribe BC over the phone to help with an emergency run-out of pills. However, when I asked for my test results to be mailed to me, they never got around to it. When they sent them to me after I called a second time, I got someone else's paper work along with mine (whoops, HIPPA violation much?) and there were three markers that were too high even though they told me everything was fine over the phone. Glad I got the paper work or I might never know I had high cholesterol. Whoops again, right? Furthermore, they said they would check out other things if my results came back inconclusive for a specific issue (which they did come back inconclusive) but they never asked about me coming back in to check out those other things (being vague because this is the internet of course). I just feel like their follow through is really lacking. read more

I recently moved to Seattle. In search for a family practitioner, I signed up with Dr. Cahn as he had outstanding reviews online. I have to say that the reviews don't lie. The office staff is great and the atmosphere is very friendly. I never had to wait for more than 10 min for my appointment and there is convenient free parking inside the building. Dr Cahn himself is a great person. He seems to care a lot about his clientele and cracks jokes to facilitate open communication with patients. I cannot quiet comment on his actual competencies as I haven't had any major medical issues yet (knock on wood) but from what I have seen, Dr. Cahn is definitely a great doctor and knows his stuff very well. read more

My entire family has been going to Dr. Cahn for eight years. I originally found him when we were looking for a pediatrician/family dr for our 3 month old son. Fast forward, said son is now 8. Dr. Cahn also delievered my second son. I had a high-risk pregnancy w/my first & Dr. Cahn was all over it w/my second. His attention & concern is what I believe saved my son. I had high blood pressure, low fluid, among other issues. After numerous dr visits a week in the end, finally ended up delivering after a hair-raising emergency C-section, where we found the cord wrapped around my son's neck over 3 times. We credit Dr. Cahn's attention to the well-being of my son & of me. We can never forget how well we were taken care of. Unfortunately, he no longer delivers babies, which makes me sad. We love having a great family doctor! His nurse pratcitioner, Annie, is also great! I think my sons have a new crush! read more
